The most notable being a series sweep against divison rivals Virgina Tech and The University of Virginia. Manager Quote:
3 Team Name: University of Maryland Mascot: Terrapins Location: College Park, MD Captain(s)/Coach(s): Matt Sniezek, Kyle Chieh Performance: Record: 23-5 Overall, 13-2 Conference Final Conference Ranking/World Series Results: 1 st place in the conference. Runner-up in Regional Tournament. Lost two competitive games to #1 Ranked ECU, including in the Regional Championship Game. Knocked out the #2 Team in the country, The Ohio State University, in the semifinals. Notables: Ranked in top 20 for the year. Ranked 6 th going into Regionals. Finished 10 th in the Country after the World Series. Number of Returning Players (Include conference/league award winners): 19 Returners (7 starters). 3 Conference All-Americans including 1 All-NCBA pitcher. Players to Watch: Issac Schlotterbeck (So) - Pitcher - Expecting Issac to have a big Sophmore year. As our game two starter, last year as a freshman, he has the experience necessary to take our team far. High 80's with great command of off speed. Threw very impressivly this fall. Matt Glady (So) - Pitcher - Expecting Glady to have a great Sophmore year. After pitching in some big games for us last year, his experience and command of the strike zone will make us competitive no matter who we play. Mid to upper 80's with great ability to keep batters off balance. Brad Hagemann (Sr) - Pitcher - After being an All-NCBA relief pitcher last year, expecting Brad to continue to dominate batters this year as our primary arm out of the bullpen in close games. Upper 80s fastball with control of all his pitches. Had a 0 ERA going into Regionals last year and is a key piece to our success. Devin Rosen (Sr) - OF - After starting the second half of last year due to an injury, "D-Rose" could easily have been an All-Conference selection if he had the minimum number of ABs. A
4 doubles machine that continued to drive the ball to the fence. This fall he continued to crush doubles and also his two homeruns in 20 ABs. Excited to see how many he puts out this year. Eric Coholan (Sr) - OF - "Ric" is one of the most fundamental hitters on the team. A rare strikeout while also crushing the gaps and stealing bases. He was Second Team All-Conference last year and he hopes to continue his success this spring. Kyle Harry (So) - C - "K-Hey" as a Freshman was our starting Catcher and really swang the bat well. Hitting multiple doubles and triples, a homerun along with stollen bases. His ceiling is high and it should be an exciting season for Kyle. Eric Sieber (Jr) - P/1B - Eric is a solid two way player. Being out third starter, he provide velo along with ground ball creating. Offensivly Eric was third team All-Conference last year. Expecting a big Jr season for Eric. New additions: 6 Biggest Rival: James Madison University Best Player Nickname: Sloppy Joe 2019 Season Outlook: Feb UNC Chapil Hill (Series) Feb 23-24: Vs. University of Virginia (Conference Series) Having strong, competitive Non-Conference Schedule in the first half of our season, will prepare our team well for the important conference series we have finishing out our Regular Season. Manager Quote: Although we lost key players like Gaylord, Seely, Hogan, and Tineo Our young nucleous that has been watching these guys closely over the past couple years have learned greatly from them and have
5 developed into equally, if not better replacements for these players. With 7 starters returning having an additional year of experience under their belts, this team will be more dangerous than the team ranked 10th at the end of last year. I expect Maryland Club Baseball to perform strongly this Spring and our goal and expectation is to have another crack at Regionals and advance to the NCBA World Series.

I anticipate that with the talent that we have accumulated over the past three years, we will be able to compete with the elite teams in our conference and region, along with several of our players earning individual awards. As long as the weather permits, look out for the Cavaliers.

DII Call-up Moe Lathan (NCBA 2nd Team All-American,.448/.609/.828) will add significant power to the lineup. In addition, Sam Fradin (.293/.417/.362), Cody Kutler (.291/.426/.345) and Ryan Nebraska (.250/.375/.346) were significant contributors to the offense and defense, playing in at least 17 games each. Freshmen Kevin Lapka and Jacob Kotzin round out an incredibly deep and versatile position player group. Returning position players have a career.342/.456/.455 slash line so the expectations are high along with the new additions to the lineup. Kent Axcell (3x All-Region, NCBA 3rd Team All-American, career 12-3, 1.44 ERA, 0.93 WHIP, 12.4 K/9) will lead a talented pitching core with returners Nick Lankard (NCBA 2nd Team All-American, career 10-1, 1.15 WHIP, 9.86 K/9), Mitch Conley, (1 Save, 3.75 ERA, 1.08 WHIP), Hunter Kuzak (2-0, 1.00 ERA, 1.07 WHIP), Sam Fradin (0.00 ERA, 0.50 WHIP), James Lazevnick, (3.50 ERA, 1.94 WHIP), and Aiden Maxwell (0.84 ERA). LHP Transfer Eric Birk as well as new comers Max Cohen and Jacob Kotzin bolster the rotation and bullpen with power arms. It will be tough to match last year's pitching stats of 2.02 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 11.6 K/9, but this group has been working extremely hard in the Fall and is up to the challenge. Their career total stats are not far off though, with a 24 and 7 record, 8 saves, 1.94 ERA, 1.5 WHIP and K/9. Head Coach Chad Lowe returns for his 6 th season as the DI coach with a 119 and 42 record (DI) and 177 and 64 overall. The Buckeyes 38 game Spring schedule includes conference match-ups with the 2016/17 MAC Region At- Large bid, Ohio University and 2015 NCBA DII National Champions, Eastern Kentucky highlighting a challenging 2019 campaign. The team will also play a tough non-conference schedule with games versus 2016 DII National Champs UT-Chattanooga, 2017 DII World Series participant University of Windsor, and 2018 NCBA DIII National Champions, Adrian College in addition to the annual NCBA Spring Training Showcase trip in March.
14 The program has thrived on pitching and defense the past three seasons. With 6 power arms, 2 lefties, and 8 returning position players, the Bucks will match-up well with any potential opponent. The graduation of seniors Connor Hogan, River Wicker, Dominic Pestello, and Landon Slomovitz as well as the call-up of Sam McClurg to the varsity program will be a lot of experience and production to replace. However, the addition of 3 new pitchers, 2 position players, and Lathan from DII, the team has reloaded for another playoff run. Manager Quote: "While we return a significant portion of last year's team, this feels like a different group and is a smaller roster in comparison to previous years. That should allow more innings for position players and our pitching staff leading to improved production. Pitching and defense has always helped keep us in games, but this year, I think we will see a more consistent and powerful lineup from top to bottom to go along with a ton of team speed. The only way to top last year's undefeated conference season is to do it again and win at Regionals. We have to use each game this season to prepare for that big step if want to make a run at a National Championship. -Coach Lowe
