Logan Chieftain Stadium, or The Chief, has been the home to the Logan Chieftains since Publicly funded by the taxpayers of the Logan-Hocking school district, The Chief is a state of the art multi-purpose stadium located on the campus of Logan High School s Shaw-Davidson Campus, ideally located just off US33 south of Logan. The seat facility plays host to LHS football, soccer, and track and field teams and has hosted multiple OHSAA post-season events. 11 Game Notes: 11 - Tonight s Match-up. Tonight the Division III, Region 9 championship game returns to Logan Chieftain Stadium for the second straight season. Once again the champions of the Tri-Valley Conference Ohio Division, Athens, will face off against a squad from the capital city, the St. Francis DeSales Stallions. Last season Marion-Franklin shut down the Bulldogs high-flying offense to claim the Regional Championship with a 38-7 win. The Athens Bulldogs were unbeaten in the regular season, extending their regular season winning streak to 29-games while capturing a fourth consecutive TVC-Ohio championship. The Bulldogs were Regional finalists the last two seasons, but are still looking for their first Regional Championship. Quarterback Joey Burrow is a verbal commitment to The Ohio State University while tailback Trae Williams has committed to Ohio University. The St. Francis DeSales Stallions are OHSAA playoff royalty, with three state championships, five runner-up finishes, and ten regional championships. The Stallions recorded the programs 50 th playoff win last week against Jackson. The Stallions won the 2014 Central Catholic League-Silver division championship and finished 8-2 in the regular season. DeSale made 18-straight playoff appearances from but are making return after a two-year hiatus. - Series History. The Athens Bulldogs and St. Francis DeSales Stallions have met on the gridiron before, in AHS s first ever playoff game back in The Stallions defeated the SEOAL cochampions 42-0 in a game played at Fulton Field in Lancaster, OH. - Burrow flying high. Athens senior quarterback Joey Burrow, son of Ohio University defensive coordinator Jimmy Burrow, is lighting up scoreboards and re-writing record books while leading the Athens Bulldogs to new heights. AHS was 0-2 all-time in the OHSAA playoffs prior to Burrow s sophomore season, but are 6-2 during his career in the postseason. The Ohio State University verbal commitment has passed for 10,309 yards and 142 touchdowns while completing 589 of 859 passes with only 16 interceptions thrown in his career while leading the Bulldogs to a 35-4 overall record. Burrow currently ranks 7 th in the OHSAA record book for career passing yards and 3 rd for career touchdown passes. - Ground and pound. St. Francis DeSales has gained their fame by running triple option football, and 2014 is no different. The Stallions have rushed for 3,870 yards and 42 touchdowns and have attempted only 46 passes in their 12 games so far in Quarterback Josh DeLozier leads the purple and white with 1007 yards and 21 touchdowns while fullback Jake Gilmore and halfback Austin Andrews contribute 971 and six touchdowns and 776 and 10 touchdowns respectively. - Unstoppable force meets immovable object. Something has to give tonight when the Bulldogs and meet for the second time their histories. The Bulldogs are the third highest scoring team in state history with 723 points (over 60 per game) while the Stallion defense is allowing just under 12 points per game. The Bulldogs have scored 40 or more points in 33 of 38 games during the last three seasons. - Tonight s Venue. Tonight is the eighth neutral site playoff game held at Logan Chieftain Stadium, with the favored seed holding a 4-3 record. St. Clairsville s 59 points in 2012 are a stadium record and Columbus Ready s 17-0 win over Portsmouth West in 2008 marks the only playoff shut-out. Athen s win over Tri-Valley in 2013 was the first overtime playoff game at the stadium. Logan Chieftain Stadium has also hosted two Logan Chieftain playoff games with Logan beating Dublin Jerome 23-7 in 2008 and Canal Winchester 30-7 in 2009.
