1 2019 Southeast District 4-H Shooting Sports Contest -- Air Rifle & Archery Contest, Southeast Expo Center Competition will be offered in Air Rifle and Archery on March 30. All 4-H members must be from counties that have a Certified Shooting Sports Program and Certified instructors. Instructors from each county will be assigned duties at the contests. There will be NO coaching after the contest begins. Coaching after the contest begins will result in the shooter being penalized. REGISTRATION DEADLINE MUST BE POSTMARKED MARCH 15TH. NO LATE REGISTRATION WILL BE ACCEPTED! Member s age will be based on their age as of September 1, All shooters must have completed Hunter Safety Course and attended 8 hours of instruction per discipline. Age divisions for contests are: Junior Age 9**-11 Intermediate Age Senior Age **Must be 9 years of age, enrolled for 30 days and 4-H archery certified. All other ages will be determined using members age as of September 1, All shooters are required to bring their own safety equipment. FEES: $15.00 per entry for Air Rifle $15.00 per entry for Archery (Compound OR Genesis) $15.00 per entry for Archery (Traditional) $15.00 per entry for 3D Archery (Compound OR Genesis) $15.00 per entry for 3D Archery (Traditional) LOCATION: Air Rifle and Archery SCHEDULE FOR ALL CONTESTS: 8:00 8:45 a.m. Registration 8:45 9:00 a.m. Contest Orientation for ALL contestants and coaches -- REQUIRED 9:00 a.m. Contest Begins specific age groups will be directed to start at a specific contest location to keep the ranges full and contest moving. PRIZES: 1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd Place Individuals will receive medals, 4 th -10 th individuals will receive ribbons. No Team Awards will be given in Air Rifle and Archery. Awards will be given at the conclusion of all contests in the Expo Center. An Overall High Point trophy will be given to the individual with the highest total points in all contests (including Trap & Skeet) combined for each age division (Junior, Intermediate and Senior). An overall sweepstakes award (traveling trophy) will be given to the county with the highest total points in all contests combined.

2 For overall individual and county high point a tiebreaker system of the participant(s) with the highest number of 1 st places will be declared the winner. If still tied, highest number of 2 nd places will be used to determine the winner. If necessary we will continue thru 10 places. 3 AIR RIFLE CONTEST Standard Three-Position Sporter Air Rifle Close-toed shoes are required. No lace up shooting boots are allowed. ALL shooters will shoot three positions: prone, standing and kneeling from 10 meters. Shooting time will be one minute per shot. An instructor may help JUNIOR/INTERMEDIATE shooters charge their rifle. No air rifle models other than those on the approved state list will be allowed. State air rifle rules can be found at: Air Rifles need to be clearly identified with county or individual s name. Counties are responsible for their own pellets (.177 only) and safety glasses. Trays to place ammunition in will be provided. Use of clear barrel indicators is required. Age as of September 1, 2018 Total # shots Shots per position Junior (9-11) Intermediate (12-14) Senior (15-19) Targets used will be official NRA 10 meter air rifle targets, 10 bull per target, 1 shot per bull. Tiebreaker will be broken on standing score, kneeling score and then prone. If there is still a tie, a pre-selected shot number will be used to break the tie. There will be no Silhouette or Sporter Air Rifle Standing Events due to space and time constraints. COMPOUND/RECURVE ARCHERY CONTEST Each contestant will be allowed one practice shot for each distance. A minimum of six (6) arrows are required in the quiver for each shooter. Arm guards or some sort of arm protection is optional. There will be two classes of Archery: Traditional/ Recurve bows (sights are allowed, releases are not). Compound Bows with No scopes, No electronics, and No cocking devices (releases are allowed). There will be no restrictions on stabilizer length. Each contestant is responsible for bringing their own bow and arrows and arm guard. Tiebreaker: Ties will be broken in this order: o Total score for longest distance o Third round shot total score o Second round shot total score o First round shot total score

4 TRADITIONAL/COMPOUND The Jr. age division will be given 10 shots from the 10, 15, and 10 yard mark. The Int. age division will be given 10 shots from 15, 20, and 15 yard mark. The Sr. age division will be given 10 shots from the 25, 20, and 25 yard mark. GENESIS ARCHERY CONTEST Each contestant will be allowed one practice shot for each distance. A minimum of six (6) arrows are required in the quiver for each shooter. Genesis arrows must be used in genesis Division and arrows must be full length. Bare bow with no modifications or alterations including anything to the bow. Mechanical release aids and whisker biscuits are not permitted. Finger tags and archery gloves are permitted. Distances for shooting Genesis bows for all age divisions will be given 10 shots from the 10, 15, and 10 yard mark. Each contestant is responsible for bringing their own bow and arrows and arm guard. Tiebreaker: Ties will be broken in this order: o Total score for longest distance (second round) o Third round shot total score o Second round shot total score o First round shot total score 3D ARCHERY CONTEST 3D targets are selected and placed by the management. Distances: o Seniors: Unmarked distances from 5 to 50 yards. o Intermediates: Unmarked distances from 5 to 40 yards o Juniors: Unmarked distances from 5 to 25 yards Course of Fire: 10 targets, one arrow per target Time Limit: Shooters will move through the course expeditiously and avoid delays. Lost arrow search is limited to 2 minutes. Scoring: o +10 pts. 10 ring o +8 8 ring o +5 Any other body shot o M (for 0) Misses, glancing shots, not touching body color (horns, rocks, logs, etc.) Hooves are considered body color. Tiebreaker: Ties will be broken by the number of the highest number 10 s, then 8 s, etc. If tie is still not broken, the score for target placed at furthest distance will be used. Other: In consideration of time, no shooter may glass the target from the shooting stake after taking his or her shot. Participants may glass the target prior to shooting, but are reminded of the time restriction for their shot. No adjustment of sights will be allowed after an archer has drawn and letdown. No adjustment of sights will be allowed after an archer has glassed the target while at the shooting stake. No Range Finders are allowed on the course (3-D) for use by participants, coaches, other adults or other youth.
