MEN S BASKETBALL NO. 8 UNION UNIVERSITY (21-7, 7-1) VS. FREED-HARDEMAN UNIVERSITY (8-21, 1-8) Date: Saturday, February 26, 2005 Location: The Sportscenter - Henderson, Tennessee Game Notes.

Union will now look to take a step closer to winning the regular season championship and the No. 1 seed in next week s TranSouth Conference Tournament with a win here today over Freed-Hardeman.

Freed-Hardeman managed just 34% from the field and just 24% (5-21) from behind the arc against Union s second ranked conference defense.

1 MEN S BASKETBALL NO. 8 UNION UNIVERSITY (21-7, 7-1) VS. FREED-HARDEMAN UNIVERSITY (8-21, 1-8) Date: Saturday, February 26, 2005 Location: The Sportscenter - Henderson, Tennessee Game Notes... The Union Bulldogs stretched their winning streak to nine games with an win over Martin Methodist on Thursday. Union will now look to take a step closer to winning the regular season championship and the No. 1 seed in next week s TranSouth Conference Tournament with a win here today over Freed-Hardeman. In the last meeting, Union held Freed-Hardeman to just 16 first half points. Freed-Hardeman managed just 34% from the field and just 24% (5-21) from behind the arc against Union s second ranked conference defense. Union shot 55% from the field as they made 12 more field goals (32-20) that did Freed-Hardeman. Union attempted only 14 three pointers, making four for 29%. Union is currently 7-1 in league play, one game ahead of second place Trevecca Nazarene (6-2). Union and Trevecca Nazarene still have that suspended game to complete on Monday, Feb. 28 at 7:00 pm in Nashville. With a Union win today versus Freed-Hardeman, Union clinches at least a tie for first. Should Trevecca Nazarene lose to Cumberland, and Union defeat Freed-Hardeman, Union would clinch the outright title prior to Monday s make-up game. If both Union and Trevecca Nazarene win today, then the winner of Monday s game will be the No. 1 seed. The first tie breaker head to head, then it goes to your record versus the conference opponents starting with No. 1 and going down. Union has swept Cumberland, Lyon, and Martin Methodist, the teams that will finish 3-5 in conference play. Trevecca has losses to Lyon and Martin Methodist. Trevecca Nazarene plays Cumberland today (Saturday, Feb.26). Game Facts... Opponent s Record vs. Union: Last time these teams met... February 5, 2005 at Union. Union defeated Freed-Hardeman after leading at halftime. Union was led by Ben Frederick with 17 points and Bruno Martinessi with 16 points. Pierry Valmera and Courtney Jones added 11 points each.
