1 RED CLIFF RIFLE AND PISTOL RANGE PISTOL PLATE MATCH RULES The Red Cliffs Range Pistol Plate Match, will be held on the fourth Saturday of the month, and will start at 7:30 am (during summer hours), with sign-ups and a pre-shoot briefing. Shooting will begin at 8:00 am. Three categories are available: semi auto, revolver and rimfire. Cost is: one category $5.00, two categories $7.50 and three categories $ MATCH OVERVIEW All entrants will be guaranteed a minimum of 5 runs at the plate racks, per category entered. This will be a double elimination tournament. Two runs will be for time qualification, in order to pair shooters with other participants of a similar skill level. The first bracket, the "Winners Bracket", will be a best 2 out of 3 round, with the winner advancing, and the loser be placed in the "Loser's Bracket." The "Loser's Bracket", will be a one run sudden death elimination. When you lose in the Loser's Bracket, you are done for the day, in that category. A drag racing style bracket format will be used to determine the "Winner's Bracket" winner. The same will occur in the "Loser's Bracket" to determine its winner. The two bracket winners will then faceoff against each other to determine the overall category winner. It is therefore, possible to win the class from the "Loser's Bracket." Each category s winner will be determined in this manner. The three category winners will then have a shootoff to determine the Overall Match Champion. 2 SHOOTING COURSE OF FIRE In qualifications, two shooters will be called to the line. Guns will be brought to the line cased and unloaded. One shooter will be qualified at a time. The RSO will ask, "Does the shooter understand the course of fire?" If the shooter indicates he understands the procedure, the RSO will instruct the shooter to "load and make ready." The shooter will uncase and load, and, when loaded, report to the RSO he is ready to shoot. The RSO will verify "Is the shooter ready?" The shooter should answer "Yes". The RSO will say "Stand By", followed by the beep of the shot timer. The shooter will then fire at the rack until all six plates are knocked down. Reloading is permitted if necessary. When the shooter's first run is complete, the RSO will give the command, "reload for your second run", and report the shooters time for recording, to the record keeper. When the shooter has reloaded, the RSO will ask, "is the shooter ready?" When the shooter answers yes, the RSO will say "Stand By" and the timer's tone will sound. If 30 seconds passes and the shooter has not cleared the rack, 30 seconds will be the qualifying time recorded. When the second qualification run is complete, the RSO will command, "Unload and show clear". The shooter will unload his firearm, muzzle down range, and hold the action open to show the RSO that the weapon is empty. The RSO will say "Case your weapon, you may leave the line." The shooter will then case his weapon, (not the magazines for semi autos, or speed loaders or moon clips for revolvers), and leave the line. Gun cases are not to be opened when off the shooting line. Magazines, speed loaders and moon clips should be reloaded, between rounds, for the next round. When the first shooter leaves the line, the RSO will move to the next shooter for qualification, and another shooter will be called to the line. This process continues until all shooters have qualified in each category they have entered. If a shooter is entered in more than one category, they should bring all weapons, and ammo, to the line to be qualified.

3 After qualifying in a category, each shooter's combined time of their two runs, will determine where they are placed on their categories' competition bracket. The two fastest will face each other in the first round, the next two fastest will face each other, and so on down to the bottom of the bracket. THE COMPETITION After the competition brackets are filled out, the RSO will announce the class to be fired, and call the first pair of shooters, in that category, to the line. The RSO will ask "Do the shooters understand the course of fire? Shooters may, at that time, ask any questions they may have. If both shooters understand the format, the RSO will then give the command to "Load and make ready." Shooters should not uncase their weapons until instructed to do so by the RSO. Once both shooters are loaded, the RSO will ask "Are the shooters ready?" If both acknowledge in the positive, the RSO will say "Standby" and then "Fire". Once the fire command is given, the shooters may leave the starting position, which is heel of the hand or muzzle of the gun touching the table, safety on, (if the gun is so equipped) finger off the trigger, and engage the targets. In center fire, the shooter must knock down all six plates on the rack and the stop popper, located on the ground between the racks. For revolver, they must knock down any four plates on the rack and the stop popper. The first shooter to do this wins that run. The stop popper has two silhouettes, angled toward each shooter, so that the first one hit, lands on the bottom, indicating the winner. If a shooter hits and knocks down the wrong stop popper, he forfeits that run. On the rimfire rack, five of the plates are blue and one is red. The shooter must knock down all five blue plates and then the red plate, last. If the shooter knocks down the red plate before all their blue plates are down, they forfeit that run.

4 This is a best two of three round, (Winner's Bracket), so the first shooter to win two runs, advances. The loser is then placed in the Loser's Bracket. When the winner of a round is determined, whether after two or three runs, the RSO will command "Unload and Show clear." Each shooter will unload and hold the action open until the RSO can verify the weapon is unloaded. Once verified, the RSO will tell the shooter, "Case your weapon, you may leave the line." As the next pair of shooters come to the line, the RSO will update the brackets as to who won and who lost. This process continues until all the first round shooting of the category is complete. The next category is called, and then the third. After round one is completed in a category, round two will be run identically to round one, only with half the number of shooting pairs as the first round. Example: If 16 people enter a category, there will be eight pairs of shooters in round one. Half (8) will lose and go to the Loser's Bracket, while the eight winners will advance and pair off in Winner's Bracket round two. For the four pairs in round two, four shooters will win and advance to round three, and the four shooters who lose in round two go to the Loser's Bracket. Two pairs will shoot in Winner's Bracket round three. Round four will have one pair shooting for the Winner's Bracket title. At the completion of the Winner's Bracket shooting, of the 16 shooters who began, one shooter will have won the bracket and 15 shooters will be in the Loser's Bracket. When the Winner's Bracket winner is determined, the Loser's Bracket will be shot in the same manner used for the Winner's Bracket, until that bracket's winner is determined. The only difference in the Loser's Bracket is that each round is a one run sudden death meeting.

5 OVERALL MATCH CHAMPION SHOOT OFF When the three category champions have been determined, the Overall Match Champion will be determined in the following manner. A three way coin toss will decide who shoots against who in the first best of three final round. In the event all three shooters flip the same side, coin flips will continue until an odd man out is determined. If the Overall Shootoff pits a center fire semi auto against a semi auto rimfire, each may load magazines only to the capacity of the smallest magazine between the two shooters. Both shooters will shoot all six plates on their respective rack, the first done becomes the winner. If the rimfire is a revolver, the center fire may only load the maximum number of rounds the revolver will hold. Reserve magazines are limited to the same number of rounds. If semi auto center fire shoots against the revolver class winner, the semi auto may only load magazines to the same capacity as the revolver's capacity. The semi auto will clear five plates and their stop popper and the revolver will do likewise. Semi auto shooters many have as many mags in ready reserve as they choose, each loaded with no more than the revolver will hold. The revolver shooter may have as many speed loaders or moon clips ready as they choose. The first shooter to win two runs, advances. If the revolver shooter faces the rimfire shooter, if the rimfire shooter is using a revolver, the gun with the lowest capacity will be the load limit. A semi auto rimfire, or center fire, may load only the number of rounds as the maximum capacity of the other shooter. The obvious objective here is to level the playing field, to the greatest extent possible. The first shooter to win two runs in the second final round is the Overall Match Winner.

6 Certificates bearing the name of each category winner, as well as the Overall Match Winner will be made available to the winners at the range office, within a week of the completion of the match. FAQs What type center fire semi-auto is permitted? Production type weapons are allowed, not heavily modified, high dollar custom guns designed for use in USPSA or similar competition. Optics must be the "slide ride" style. Is the use of speed loaders or moon clips permitted: YES Are optical sights permitted: YES Are extended mags permitted: YES What caliber guns are permitted: FROM.22CAL UP TO.45 CAL. Are rifles permitted: NO Can you draw from a holster: NO Is there a minimum age requirement: NO, as long as a minor demonstrates good firearm handling and knowledge and has a parent or guardian present at the line. GENERAL INFORMATION Guns may only be uncased at the line on the shooting tables, when instructed by the RSO, giving the "Load and make ready" command. There is a 180 degree muzzle rule in effect whenever a firearm is uncased. Firearms must be unloaded and cased before leaving the line. Magazines and speed loaders SHOULD BE reloaded between rounds to help keep the match moving without delay. An accidental discharge of a firearm at the line is grounds for disqualification.

7 It is recommended that shooters with semi auto guns have a minimum of three magazines. We recommend having five or more. We appreciate the shooters paying attention when a class they have entered is being run. Please listen for your name and be ready to come to the line when the pair ahead of you clears. For Reloader, brass will be picked by and placed on a table for you ro recover. We recommend shooters wanting to keep their brass, mark the bases with a colored marker, with an easily identified pattern. When shooting qualification runs, bring to the line your gun for each class entered. You will shoot all qualification runs during one trip to the line. Please remember, there are no dumb questions.
