A SEVEN GAME SERIES WITH NO CLOSE GAMES: San Antonio's win over New Orleans on Monday night in Game 7 was the closest result in their seven-game series in only one other seven-game playoff series in NBA history was every game decided by sevenor-more points: the Lakers over Phoenix in the 1970 Western semifinals.

5 HOME WINNING STREAK HALTED: The Hornets had won nine consecutive home playoff games before losing Game 7 to San Antonio... that's the longest home winning streak in NBA playoff history that ended with a loss in a Game 7 the next-longest streak of that type belonged to the Lakers, who won seven consecutive playoff games at home before losing Game Seven of the 1969 Finals on their own court to the Celtics. PAUL DOING IT ALL: Chris Paul ended the second round with a stat line of 18 points and 14 assists Paul either made or assisted on 54 percent of his team's field goals during this year's playoffs, the highest percentage for any player in NBA history through the first nine postseason games of his career the next-highest percentages through their first nine playoff games belong to LeBron James (49.2% in 2006) and Bob Cousy (48.8% from 1951 to 1953). ANOTHER 30/10 GAME: Chris Paul had 30 points and 12 assists in the Hornets' Game Two win over the Spurs he's the first player in 13 years to score at least 30 points and record 10-or-more assists in a postseason game against San Antonio the last player to do that was Houston's Sam Cassell on May 30, 1995 over the last two regular seasons only one player had a 30/10 (points/assists) versus the Spurs and he did it in an overtime game: Baron Davis (34 and 14) on January 7, NOT BAD FOR HIS FIRST SERIES: Chris Paul capped a historic playoff debut series with a triple double in the Hornets win, eliminating the Mavericks from the NBA s postseason Paul averaged 12.0 assists in the five-game series, the second-highest mark in NBA history by a player in his first postseason series the record is 13.0 by Kevin Johnson in 1989 over the last 20 years, the only other players to post a triple-double in their playoff series were LeBron James (2006) and Steve Francis (2004). PAUL CAN BALL: Chris Paul was simply amazing in the first two games of the playoffs Paul had 32 points and 17 assists on 4/22 vs. DAL, in his second career postseason game, after having 35 points and 10 assists on Saturday, in his playoff debut he's the first player in NBA history with at least 30 points and 10 assists in each of his first two career playoff games and he's also the first to total 67 points and 27 assists in his first two career playoff games. ON MJ S FOOTSTEPS: Chris Paul s two straight games with at least 30 points and 10 assists in Game 1 and 2 put him in very elite category Michael Jordan is the only NBA player to have had three straight games with at least 30 and 10 in the playoffs Paul tied several other players at two straight games, a list that includes Oscar Robertson, Steve Nash and Kevin Johnson. LACK OF PLAYOFF EXPERIENCE?: Chris Paul put an end to all the playoff-jitter talk by having a history-making game in Game 1 for the Hornets CP3 scored 35 points and handed out 10 assists in his first NBA playoff game as the Hornets overcame a 12-point deficit to win Paul is the first player in NBA history to have at least 35 points and at least 10 assists in his first NBA playoff game only three other players in NBA history scored 35 or more points in their playoff debut and won the game: Wilt Chamberlain (PHI Warriors) in 1960 (35 points), Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (MIL) in 1970 (36 points) and Gary Brokaw (MIL) in 1976 (36 points). SELLING OUT: A sellout at the New Orleans Arena is nothing new these days dating back to the regular season, the Hornets have sold out 12 straight games overall, they have had 19 sellouts on the season (including playoffs). HOME DOMINANCE: The Hornets won 12 of the final 13 regular season home games in dominant fashion the average margin of victory for the 12 home wins was 15.3 points and 10 of the 13 were by at least 10+ points. EVEN MORE EYE-POPPING CHRIS PAUL STATS: You could fill page after page with Chris Paul stats from this season that would make you say, WOW! a few more to add to the list are below. Only one player (Steve Nash, last season) other than Chris Paul (11.6 assists, this season) has averaged at least 11.5 assists for a season in the last 13 years. Chris Paul finished first in the league in steals with a 2.7 mark, 06 more than last season s league-leader (Baron Davis, 2.1). Paul is the fourth player since the NBA started tracking steals in to lead the league in both assists and steals in a season. Paul is the seventh player (first since Magic Johnson in ) to score over 20 points a game while also leading the league in assists.
