2 athletic past is rich and storied. BL has been fielding interscholastic teams since the 1880s and thus the BL community has decided to establish the Boys Latin School Athletic Hall of Fame to pay tribute to those great athletes who through the years contributed to the honor and glory of BL on the athletic field or court. The first inductees this year are limited to those BL graduates from our Brevard Street era. Boys Latin will select new members to the Athletic Hall of Fame every two years in conjunction with the annual Boys Latin vs. St. Paul s home football game. Beginning in 2008, the eligibility for induction will open up to all past graduates of the school. This special group of Boys Latin School graduates is not only a group of fantastic athletes, it is also a group of outstanding men. Since BL was such a small school during the Brevard Street era, most of the students were involved in multiple school functions. Many students played sports each season, worked on the school newspaper or yearbook, managed sports teams, were class officers, and above all else were also outstanding students. The list of schools these men attended after graduating from BL is outstanding Princeton, Johns Hopkins, University of Virginia, University of Maryland, St. John s College, and Trinity College to name a few. Most of these Latinists (pre-laker days!) continued their athletic careers in college. Six are in the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame, one is also in the State of Maryland Athletic Hall of Fame, and one played on the 1932 U.S. Olympic Lacrosse team in Los Angeles. Twelve of the inductees won the prestigious Boys Latin Alumni Cup for Leadership based on character. Boys Latin is very proud of all of the initial inductees and we thank them for their service to the school. We also want to thank all of the inductees family members for joining the BL community on such a special day. Boys Latin would also like to welcome and thank Mr. Vince Bagli, The Dean of Baltimore Sports, for acting as the Master of Ceremonies. Mac Kennedy 76 Director of Alumni Affairs J.
