The Big Red of Cornell are ranked 12 th. CAA Tournament Championship Game and at Massachusetts in the NCAA Tournament first round. The Pride have won five consecutive regular season, non-tournament games dating back to April 4, 2003 when they dropped a 15-8 decision at Towson. The Pride have won 20 of their last 26 contests, 28 of its last 39 games, 32 of the last 44, 43 of the last 64 and 56 of its last 80 games, dating back to Hofstra has won its last six home games at James M. Shuart Stadium. PRIDE COACH JOHN DANOWSKI John Danowski, who is in his 19th season at Hofstra, is the head coach of the Pride. He has posted a (.613) record during the time. Danowski-coached teams have recorded nine or more wins 13 of the 25 times that it has happened in school history. Only 12 teams in Hofstra history have recorded 11 or more wins in a season. Danowski-coached teams have done it six times. Danowski has a career coaching record of (.615) in 22 years of coaching. He spent three seasons at C.W. Post recording a record with the Pioneers. HOFSTRA ASSISTANT COACHES: Joe Amplo, who was a four-year letterman at Hofstra from 1996 to 1999 and served as an assistant for two season under John Danowski in 2000 and 2001, is in his second season as an assistant on the Pride staff. Sean Smith is in his sixth season as a part-time assistant coach with the Pride. Former Scranton standout and Long Island scholastic assistant coach Ron Caputo is in his first season on the Pride staff. Shuart Stadium. Joe Kostolansky also posted a goal and three assists as the Pride recorded their second straight victory. Red-shirt freshman goalie Matthew Southard recorded nine saves in 58 minutes of action to notch his second win of the season. Joe Boulukos scored twice for Cornell while Andrew Collins added a goal and an assist for the Big Red. The Pride jumped on Cornell early, scoring twice in the first 3:04 as Ryan Lucas opened the scoring at the 1:06 mark off a pass from Kostolansky. Kostolansky would score his fourth of the season on the man-up 1:58 later off a feed from Morrison. Femminella would score his fifth of the season with 3:49 to play in the period to give the Pride a 3-0 lead after one quarter. Morrison scored his first of the season 4:06 into the second quarter on the man-up off a pass from Tim Treubig, and Femminella scored his second of the game and sixth of the year from Ryan Miller two minutes later to make it 5-0. Freshman John Keysor scored his first of the year with 7:47 to play in the half and Femminella completed his "hat-trick" six seconds later as Keysor fed Kostolansky, who fed Femminella for the goal and a 7-0 lead. Andrew Collins ended Hofstra's run with a man-up goal from Sean Greenhalgh with 6:18 to play in the second. But Ryan Miller scored on a behind the back shot off a pass from Mike Allain to close out the first half scoring and give the Pride an 8-1 lead at intermission. The Big Red scored three of the first four goals in the third quarter as Boulukos scored twice and J.P. Schalk sandwiched a Morrison goal to close the deficit to 9-4. But Keith Mekeel scored twice and Femminella scored his fourth 4:18 into the fourth quarter to give the Pride a 12-4 cushion. Cornell picked up 41 ground balls to Hofstra's 37, but the Pride outshot the Big Red, 37-32, and won 12 of 22 face-offs F #14 Cornell #18 Hofstra

Sophomore defender Bryan Read is out for the season with a knee injury sustained during the first week of practice. SEASON 56 FOR HOFSTRA Hofstra is in its 56th season of men s lacrosse. Pride teams have tallied a record during that time. SEVEN RANKED OPPONENTS IN 2004 Hofstra will play seven teams this season who are ranked in the Inside Lacrosse.com Preseason Top 25 Poll. The Pride have played against eight or more ranked opponents in each of the past three seasons. FOUR TOURNAMENT OPPONENTS IN 2004 Hofstra will face four opponents in 2004 who played in the 2003 NCAA Tournament. RETURNEES The Pride have seven starters returning from last year's 11-6 team. They are Ryan Lucas on attack; John Keysor, Tim Treubig and Ryan Vilar at midfield; Brian Zuchelli and Brett Moyer on defense; and Matt Southard in goal. Hofstra returns 19 players from last year's team. TREUBIG Sophomore Tim Treubig, who scored the game-winner in overtime against Sacred Heart and the tying and game-winning goals against Duke last year, was named the CAA's Co-Rookie of the Week on April 28, He added two goals in the CAA semifinal victory over Villanova and one goal against Towson in the title game. KEYSOR Sophomore John Keysor (pronounced Kaiser) equaled his career-best with two goals at Towson on May 3, He tallied two goals at Sacred Heart on April 19 th and at Towson on April 4th. Against Villanova on April 23rd he posted a goal and an assist. He added two assists against Duke and had two goals and one assist at Towson on May 3 rd. Keysor recorded a career-high three assists and added one goal in the victory over Drexel last year. He added two goals and one assist at Towson on April 4 th and a goal against Delaware. He tallied two assists at Army on March 26th. Keysor is one of three face-off men for Hofstra in Last year, he won six of 10 face-offs against Notre Dame, seven of nine against Massachusetts, seven of 12 against Delaware and four of five at Sacred Heart. He won 60 of 138 face-offs last year for a.435 winning percentage. UNTERSTEIN ON ATTACK Sophomore attackman Chris Unterstein tallied 10 goals and eight assists last year. Since being moved to attack in game nine last season, Chris Unterstein has thrived, scoring eight goals and five assists. He scored a career-high three goals and one assist against Villanova on April 30, He had one goal in the CAA Title game at Towson COOL HAND LUCAS Sophomore attackman Ryan Lucas tallied 12 goals and seven assists last season. He posted two goals at Towson on May 3 rd, two against Villanova on April 23, and another against Duke, Lucas had a goal and an assist at Army. He recorded his first college point with an assist of a Joe Kostolansky goal at Loyola. His first collegiate goal came against

4 Binghamton. He also had a goal at Sacred Heart and an assist against Syracuse. RYAN MILLER Sophomore Ryan Miller is following in the footsteps of his older brother Blake, who tallied 22 goals and 12 assists in 1995, and 36 goals and 17 assists in 1996 for Hofstra. Ryan posted eight goals and seven assists in Miller had three assists against Notre Dame and two goals at Army last season. ZUCHELLI BOUNCES BACK Senior defender Brian Zuchelli will start for the Pride against Cornell after suffering a knee injury at Massachusetts in the NCAA Tournament last May. Zuchelli underwent surgery in June and has rehabbed the knee since and was cleared to play in January. MOYER 2003 CAA CO-ROOKIE OF THE YEAR Sophomore defender Brett Moyer was voted the CAA's 2003 Co-Rookie of the Year by the league's coaches. Moyer was a member of the U.S. National Under 19 team that captured the Gold Medal in the World Championships last summer. SEVEN PRIDE PLAYERS NAMED TO ALL-CAA TEAMS Hofstra placed three players on the All-CAA first team and four on the second team in Joe Kostolansky, Mike Morrison and Brian Zuchelli were voted to the first team while Jim Femminella, Mike Allain, Brett Moyer and Matt Southard were picked to the second team. 5 On offense, Hofstra ranked seventh in the country last season with a.393 (24-for-61) man-up percentage AGAINST THE TOP 10 Hofstra played four opponents who were ranked in the Top 10 last season. Massachusetts was ranked fifth entering the NCAA Tournament last season. Syracuse was ranked seventh when they lost to Hofstra 8-6. The Pride lost to then-#7 Princeton 18-5 on March 15th and then-#6 Massachusetts 14-7 on March 23.
