THE UNLV RUNNIN REBELS (6-3) UNLV is in year three of the Spoonhour Era... The team is in the midst of a sixgame homestand... UNLV opened the homestand with a loss to Northern Arizona (74-73) and a win over Auburn (82-69) in the Las Vegas Showdown... The win over Auburn marked the first for UNLV in its last seven Showdown games and also snapped a two-game losing skid... UNLV is 4-2 at home and 2-1 on the road this season... The Runnin Rebels have won five of their last seven games... UNLV returns three starters from last season s team in 6-8 senior forward J.K. Edwards, 6-2 senior guard Demetrius Hunter and 6-8 senior forward James Peters... Also returning off the roster are 6-9 sophomore forward Louis Amundson (sat out with a medical redshirt), 6-7 junior forward Odartey Blankson (redshirted in after transferring from Marquette) and 6-2 freshman guard Jonathan Osborne (used as a medical redshirt year)... The Braves most recently played at Pepperdine (on Dec. 20) and lost BU is 5-0 at home, 1-2 on the road and 1-1 in neutral-site games this season... Bradley posted wins at home over Butler (59-55) and Loyola-Chicago (79-63) beforing heading out west to Pepperdine... The Braves return four starters and nine lettermen off last year s team that finished overall and tied for fifth in the Missouri Valley Conference with an 8-10 conference mark... Bradley is led in scoring by 6-3 senior guard Phillip Gilbert (20.2), 6-7 sophomore forward Marcellus Sommerville (16.9) and 6-4 senior guard James Gillingham (16.2)... Sommerville leads the squad in rebounding (7.7), while 5-11 senior guard Marcello Robinson leads in assists (5.5)... Head coach Jim Les is in his second year at Bradley and overall as a head coach with a career mark of (.475). SERIES HISTORY This will be the fourth-ever meeting between UNLV and Bradley in men s basketball... UNLV holds a 3-0 series lead... UNLV won the last meeting in overtime, which was in Peoria, Ill., on Dec. 14, 2002 (last season)... In that game then-senior Dalron Johnson hit a 3-pointer with less than a second to go in overtime to give UNLV the win... The first meeting between UNLV and Bradley was in 1977 in Peoria... UNLV is 1-0 all-time vs. Bradley at home... UNLV is 13-6 all-time against teams the currently make up the Missouri Valley Conference. TALE OF TWO HALVES Against NAU on Dec. 18, UNLV had two different looks. In the first half, UNLV made each of its first nine shots and shot 57.1 percent overall to take a lead at the break. However, in the second half, UNLV shot 40.9 percent and allowed NAU to shoot 66.7 percent. NAU won by one point. SHOWDOWN HISTORY UNLV s win over Auburn in the Las Vegas Showdown marked its first win in the last seven years in the event. UNLV had lost six straight Showdown games. UNLV s only other win in the Showdown was the first year it was held when it played Tulane. 1

FOUR-GAME WIN STREAK SNAPPED The Runnin Rebels had a four-game win streak snapped at then-no. 13 Stanford on Dec The last time UNLV won four games in a row was last season when it won five straight from Dec. 28 through Jan With the win over Auburn, UNLV snapped a two-game losing skid... The last time UNLV lost three in a row was last season from Jan. 16 through Jan. 25. SUSPENSIONS OVER Seniors J.K. Edwards and James Peters were forced to miss the beginning of the season for their involvement in the unauthorized use of a UNLV phone personal identification number. Edwards had to miss the season s first six games, while Peters was out for the first three... Both player s suspensions have been served and they are both eligible to play all of the season s remaining games. Edwards made his debut at Stanford with 12 points on 5-of-8 from the field... He has now played in three games and started vs. Auburn... Peters has averaged 14.2 minutes per game since returning... Peters has played in six games. ROAD RECORD With wins at USC and at Loyola Marymount, UNLV won its first two road games of the season for the first time since the season... UNLV lost its third road game of the season at then-no. 13 Stanford and is 2-1 on the road this season... The last time UNLV won its first three road games of a season was during the season as the team was 34-0 overall before falling to Duke in the Final Four. LAST TIME OUT - AUBURN Odartey Blankson had 16 points and 13 rebounds to lead UNLV past Auburn on Dec. 20 at the Thomas & Mack Center. UNLV had five players score in double digits, including Romel Beck with 13 and Demetrius Hunter with 12. The Rebels built a lead, their largest, with 11:48 left in the game. The Tigers cut the lead to with 2:59 left, but came no closer. Brandon Robinson and Ronny LeMelle had 15 points apiece for Auburn. Nathan Watson added 11. UNLV (6-3) won despite 5-of-21 shooting from 3-point range. Auburn (7-1), who lost for the first time in its first road game of the season, was 6-of-15 from 3-point range. J.K. Edwards and Jerel Blassingame both had 11 points for the Rebels, who shot 29-of-57 from the field for 50.9 percent. Auburn was 25-of-51 for 49 percent from the field. UNLV also led in rebounding, Auburn led by three points twice in the first half, the last at The Rebels then took the lead at with 10:20 until halftime and led the rest of the way, eventually building a lead, their largest of the half. UNLV led at halftime. WHAT A DIFFERENCE A GAME MAKES Heading into the USC game on Dec. 3, UNLV was shooting 26.4 percent from 3-point range on the season. After its 13-of-26 performance from beyond the arc vs. the Trojans, UNLV was shooting 32.7 percent from the same distance on the year. On the flip side, UNLV s opponents were shooting 35.0 percent from 3-point range heading into the USC game, but the Trojans 1-of-23 performance dropped that number to 26.5 percent afterward. Currently, UNLV is shooting 32.8 percent from 3- point range, while limiting its opponents to 26.2 percent. OUT-REBOUNDED, BUT... UNLV has been out-rebounded in six of its nine games this season, however, the Runnin Rebels are 6-3. UNLV has out-rebounded Western Illinois (45-32), Loyola Marymount (34-33) and Auburn (41-27) this season and is 3-0 in those games. PERCENTAGES UNLV is holding its opponents to 43.3 percent shooting from the field, while the Runnin Rebels are hitting 48.6 percent of their shots. UNLV held Cal to 33.8 percent shooting from the field, which is the season-low for the Runnin Rebels. UNLV has shot 50 percent or better from the field six times this year including a season-high 56.1 percent at USC. FIRST-HALF SUCCESS A part of UNLV s early-season success can be attributed to its first-half shooting. In five games this season, UNLV has shot lights-out from the field in the first half. In its season opener against Delaware State, UNLV shot 65.2 percent from the field, which is the season high. Against Cal, UNLV shot 51.7 percent in the first half, shot 59.3 percent at USC, 52.2 percent at Stanford and 57.1 percent vs. Northern Arizona. UNLV has shot 50 percent or better in the second half at Loyola Marymount (50.0), at Stanford (51.9) and vs. Auburn (57.7). A TEAM EFFORT UNLV has had at least four players score in double figures in the same game five times this season. Five players scored in double figures at USC and vs. Auburn. Last season, UNLV had only seven games in which four players scored 10 or more points in the same game and had five players in double figures only once. 2

Amundson s first of his career came vs. Western Illinois. Last season, UNLV had players record double-doubles eight times. UNLV already has seven this year. DOUBLE-DOUBLE FOLLOW-UP With Blankson and Amundson recording double-doubles in the same game against WIU, it marked the first time since the Bradley game last season on Dec. 14 that two UNLV players had double-doubles in the same game. Last season s Bradley game (J.K. Edwards - 21 points, 10 rebounds; Jermaine Lewis - 12 points, 10 rebounds) marked the first time UNLV had accomplished the feat since Nov. 25, 2000, against Cal State Northridge (Kaspars Kambala - 10 points, 12 rebounds; Dalron Johnson - 18 points, 10 rebounds). OUT OF THE GATES After nine games, Odartey Blankson has emerged as the Runnin Rebels leading scorer and rebounder. He is averaging a double-double of 18.3 ppg and 10.2 rpg. He has scored at least 10 points in all nine games for UNLV and has had double figures in rebouding six times. UNLV has four other players averaging at least 9.0 ppg. HUNTER HEATED UP Coming off Achilles surgery in the offseason and a calf strain during the preseason, Demetrius Hunter scored only four and one points in his first two games, respectively, however in his next three games, he scored 15, 15 and 21 points. He had nine points at Loyola Marymount and six at Stanford before getting back to double digits with 11 vs. Northern Arizona. He had 12 vs. Auburn. For the season, he is averaging 10.4 ppg and leads the team in made three pointers with 21 (he is tied for 2nd in the MWC with 2.33 per game). HOTEL CALIFORNIA Dec. 13 at Stanford, UNLV concluded its three-game California road swing. UNLV started the trip with wins at USC and at Loyola Marymount before losing at Stanford. Including home games, UNLV will not play outside the Pacific time zone until Jan. 24 when it travels to Wyoming. FIRST AWAY GAME The USC game on Dec. 3 marked the season s first game away from the Thomas & Mack Center. With the win, UNLV is now all-time in its first game of the season away from home. Nine of the 46 times the Runnin Rebels have played away from home for the season s first time were at a neutral site. DEBUTS Against Delaware State in the season opener, six players made their debuts in a Runnin Rebel uniform. Odartey Blankson sat out last season after transferring from Marquette, while junior college transfers Romel Beck, Jerel Blassingame and Andy Hannan all suited up for the first time in Scarlet & Gray. Freshmen Michael Umeh and John Winston also played their first UNLV game and Louis Amundson played for the first time since the season becuase of a medical redshirt last year. The only player who saw action for the Runnin Rebels in their season opener that played on the team last year was Demetrius Hunter. The same eight players saw action against UNR in game two and against WIU in game three, the Runnin Rebels played nine players with Jonathan Osborne playing in his first game of the season. James Peters played for the first time this year vs. Cal after serving a three-game suspension and J.K. Edwards returned at Stanford after serving a six-game suspension. NO TIME FOR REST The Runnin Rebels concluded their season-opening four-game homestand on Nov. 29 with a win over Cal. The homestand covered a span of nine days. The team had to pack so many games into the first part of the season to make way for the National Finals Rodeo that comes to the Thomas & Mack Center each December. UNLV s game vs. NAU at the Thomas & Mack Center marked the first home game for UNLV in 20 calendar days and the first of six-straight at the Thomas & Mack Center for the Runnin Rebels. FOR OPENERS With UNLV s win over Delaware State in the season opener on Nov. 21, the Runnin Rebels are now all-time in season openers and 28-4 when opening the season at home. The Runnin Rebels have never lost at the TMC in a season opener as they are now UNLV has now won its season opener each of the last nine seasons. The last time the Runnin Rebels lost their seasonopening game was on Nov. 28, 1994 at Marquette in overtime, The last time UNLV lost a season operner at home was on Nov. 30, 1979 vs. Texas-Pan American

The game will be at 7:30 p.m. PST at the Thomas & Mack Center. TOUGH SCHEDULE On the schedule for UNLV are two teams that are currently ranked in the top 25 (week of Dec. 22). They are Stanford (6-AP, 8-ESPN/USA Today) and Missouri (11/14). UNLV lost at Stanford on Dec. 13 and will play at Missouri on Feb. 15. UNLV has or is slated to face four other teams that are receiving votes in the polls. They are Auburn, BYU, Nevada, Reno and Utah. UNLV lost to UNR in the second game of the season and defeated Auburn on Dec. 20. The Runnin Rebels will face BYU and Utah twice each as they are MWC teams. PAC-1O SUCCESS UNLV has played three Pac-10 teams this season in Cal, USC and then-no. 13 Stanford. Last season, UNLV played three Pac-10 teams as well in Washington, Stanford and USC. UNLV was 1-2 vs. Pac-10 teams last year, but this year went 2-1 with wins over California at home and at USC, while the loss came at then-no. 13 Stanford. JENKINS LEAVES 6-0 freshman walk-on guard Darrell Jenkins has decided to transfer to a junior college and is no longer a Runnin Rebel. Jenkins made the decision following the USC game on Dec. 3. He had not played in a regular season game. RUNNIN REBELS LOOK TO FILL VOIDS With the departure of seven letterwinners off last year s team, 71.0 percent of the team s scoring and 56.3 percent of its rebounding from is gone. The seven players accounted for 1,711 of the team s 2,411 total points and 596 of the team s 1,058 total rebounds from last year. SPOONHOUR ERA - YEAR THREE Charlie Spoonhour became the 12th head coach in Runnin Rebel history on March 29, 2001, and is in his third year coaching at UNLV (48-25;.658). He was named the United States Basketball Writers Association s District VIII Coach of the Year after leading the Runnin Rebels to a mark in his first season at UNLV, which included a second round NIT appearance. He followed that up in year two with another overall record and NIT berth. He came to UNLV after spending two years out of coaching, but he didn t stray far from the game as he served in the media as an analyst on college basketball broadcasts. Prior to that he was the head coach at Saint Louis University for seven years and before SLU, Spoonhour was head coach at Southwest Missouri State University for nine seasons. UNLV advanced to the championship game of the MWC Tournament for the second straight year and lost for the second year in a row, this time to Colorado State. After a 1-4 conference start, UNLV concluded MWC play winning seven of its last nine conference games to finish tied for third with Wyoming at 8-6. The Runnin Rebels finished the year 15-6 at thethomas & Mack Center and 6-5 on the road. UNLV was led in scoring by 6-2 senior guard Marcus Banks (20.3 ppg) and 6-10 senior forward Dalron Johnson (15.5 ppg). Johnson and 6-8 junior forward J.K. Edwards tied for the team lead in rebounding (6.3 rpg). Banks also led the team in assists (5.5 apg) and steals (2.8 spg), while Johnson was the blocked shots leader (1.3 bpg). Banks was second in the MWC in scoring and led in both assists and steals. Banks was drafted 13th overall in the 2003 NBA Draft to the Memphis Grizzlies and was later traded to the Boston Celtics. 4

5 SIX POSTSEASONS IN LAST SEVEN YEARS UNLV is coming off its second straight postseason NIT appearance. The Runnin Rebels have played in the postseason in six of the past seven years (two NCAA Tournament appearances in 1998 and 2000 and NIT appearances is 1997, 1999, 2002 and 2003). SPOONHOUR REACHES MILESTONE IN 2OO2-O3 Charlie Spoonhour recorded the 350th win of his career in UNLV s win over Santa Clara last season on Jan. 4. It was his 534th career game as a Division I head coach. Spoonhour currently has 367 career wins in 563 career games. LEAVING LAS VEGAS The 2003 MWC Tournament was the fourth that had been played at the Thomas & Mack Center. It also marked the seventh consecutive year that a conference tournament has been held at the TMC (The WAC Tournament was held at the TMC from ). Dating back to the season, UNLV has posted 20 or more wins in 24 out of the last 30 years, including 30 or more wins four times. With 21 wins as well in , UNLV has now had back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time since and when the Runnin Rebels were and 20-13, respectively IN LAST 82 GAMES AT TMC The Runnin Rebels are playing their 21st season in the 18,500-seat Thomas & Mack Center in and are 4-2 at home thus far. UNLV has posted an all-time record of (.840) in the arena since it opened in Last season, the Runnin Rebels were 15-6 at home. UNLV was 17-3 at home in , 12-3 in and 18-2 in , so UNLV has won 66 of its last 82 games at home (.805). SPOONHOUR AT TMC Charlie Spoonhour, who is in his third year as head coach of the Runnin Rebels, is (.766) in games played at the Thomas & Mack Center. UNLV BOASTS BEST HOME MARK IN MWC Out of the eight Mountain West schools, UNLV has the best all-time winning percentage on its home court. UNLV is (.840) at the Thomas & Mack Center, while Utah is second at.830 (433-89). UNLV: ONLY WINNER VS. MWC The Runnin Rebels are the only team in the MWC to have an all-time winning record against each of the other seven members of the conference: Air Force (15-2), BYU (8-7), Colorado State (17-6), New Mexico (15-9), San Diego State (26-6), Utah (13-12), Wyoming (13-12). 13OOTH GAME UNLV s game at Wisconsin on Dec. 7 of last season marked the 1,300th game in program history. UNLV, which is in its 46th year of basketball, has now played 1,336 games and has an all-time record of (.719). 3-POINT GOAL... UNLV holds the NCAA record for most consecutive games with a made 3-pointer. Since the 3-point field goal was adopted by the NCAA in , UNLV has converted at least one 3-pointer in all 548 games played. Entering the season, Vanderbilt (533) was the only other team to have made at least one 3-pointer in every game played since the rule was put into place. Kentucky was third with 509 consecutive games with a made 3-pointer, followed by Georgia Tech (504), Arkansas (488), Duke (480), Western Kentucky (479), Princeton (469), Dayton (432), Charlotte (428) and New Mexico (396). UNLV entered the season with 539 consecutive games with a made 3-pointer. In the 548 games, the Runnin Rebels have made 3,551-of-9,856 (.360) shots from behind the arc. The Big West Conference experimented with the 3-point shot in the , and seasons. During that period, UNLV connected from 3-point range in 53 of the 64 games (the 3-pointer was used in some non-conference games). The Runnin Rebels sank 194-of-505 (.384) 3-point attempts during that time. With the experimental years included, the UNLV streak for games in which it has made at least one 3-point shot stands at 565. The last time the Runnin Rebels failed to make at least one 3-pointer came against Long Beach State on Jan. 25, So, UNLV has made at least one shot from behind the arc in 601 of the 612 games in which the rule was used. In the 612 total games, the Runnin Rebels have shot.362 from this distance while sinking 3,746-of-10,361. 5

Sobers was the first All-American in UNLV men s basketball history. With the jersey retirement, he will become the sixth Runnin Rebel to be so honored. In an unrelated jersey retirement item, Lady Rebel great Linda Frohlich will have her jersey retired on Dec. 30 at halftime of the women s game with Cal Poly. She will then be introduced during halftime of the Runnin Rebel game later that night against Montana. NBA PRESENCE Over the last six seasons, the UNLV program has had three players drafted with lottery picks in the annual NBA Draft. Most recently, Marcus Banks was selected 13th overall in the 2003 draft to the Memphis Grizzlies and moments later was traded to the Boston Celtics. The program had back-to-back lottery selections in 1998 and 1999 with Keon Clark (13th overall by the Orlando Magic ) and Shawn Marion (ninth overall by the Phoenix Suns ). A total of 13 Runnin Rebels have been selected in the NBA s first round since Ricky Sobers was UNLV s first player to be selected in the first round in 1975 by the Phoenix Suns.
