2 OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER NOTES.... On the Road Again: The Thunder looks to get its fourth consecutive win as the team travels to Mexico City to take on the Brooklyn Nets tomorrow night. This will be the first time in the regular season for either team to play in Mexico and mark the NBA s 25th game there since 1992, the most held in any country outside the United States and Canada. Last season, Oklahoma City swept Brooklyn, winning each game by at least 18 points. From Mexico City, the Thunder will head to Memphis to face the Grizzlies on Saturday, Dec. 9. Turnover a New Leaf: Oklahoma City leads the league in both steals per game (10.48) and opponent turnovers per game (18.4). The Thunder has yet to finish within the Top 5 in the NBA in these categories since they moved to Oklahoma City as their previous season bests were 8.28 steals per game in and 15.2 opponent turnovers per game in Additionally, the Thunder tops the NBA leaderboard for deflections per game (18.1), forced turnovers on 19.2% of opponent possessions, which tops the league, and recovers the most loose balls each game (9.2). Triple-Double Down: On Dec. 5 vs. Utah, Russell Westbrook logged his seventh triple-double of the season and led the game in each category with 34 points, 14 assists and 13 rebounds. On Nov. 24 vs. Detroit, Westbrook recorded his sixth with a game-best 27 points, game-high 11 assists and 11 rebounds along with three steals. On Nov. 20 at New Orleans, he notched his fifth as he logged 22 points, a game-best 16 rebounds and game-high 12 assists along with three steals. In the Thunder s win over the Bucks on Oct. 31, Westbrook produced his fourth with 12 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists, making him the only player in NBA history besides Oscar Robertson to record at least four triple-doubles in the first seven games of the season. Westbrook notched his third triple-double of the season and first against Chicago on Oct. 28 at Chicago with 12 points, 13 rebounds and 13 assists, making him the only player in NBA history to log a triple-double against all 29 other teams in the league. On Oct. 19 vs. New York, Westbrook logged his 80th career and first opening night triple-double with 21 points, 16 assists and 10 rebounds, joining Oscar Robertson as the only other player in NBA history with at least 20 points, 15 assists and 10 rebounds in a home opener. This makes him one of ten players in league history to record a triple-double on opening night (LeBron James, Jason Kidd, Chris Duhon, Gary Payton, Clyde Drexler, Scottie Pippen, Fat Lever, Larry Bird and Lewis Lloyd). His 16 assists are the most in an opening night triple-double in league history. Of the 30 NBA franchises, 19 have fewer triple-doubles in their entire team history than the 86 that Westbrook has logged in his career and Oklahoma City is now 5-2 when Westbrook registers a triple-double. Blue Review: The Thunder s G League affiliate, the Oklahoma City Blue are off to a 7-6 start this season after downing the Memphis Hustle (affiliate of the Memphis Grizzlies) on Tuesday, Dec. 5. Oklahoma City tops the G League in steals per game (11.6). Two-way player Daniel Hamilton has led the team in assists in 12 of 13 games and ranks second in the league in assists per game (9.1). Hamilton has also notched a league-leading five triple-doubles this season, including three straight from Nov Additionally, guard Markel Brown was selected to Team USA for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Americas Qualifier. ThundeRuss Birthday: On Nov. 12, Russell Westbrook celebrated his 29th birthday with a victory over the Dallas Mavericks. He stands as just one of three players in NBA history with at least 15,000 points, 5,000 assists and 4,000 rebounds before age 29 along with Oscar Robertson and LeBron James. You ve Been Hit by a Smooth Carmelo: On Nov. 25 at Dallas, Carmelo Anthony scored 16 points on 4-of-7 shooting from distance to pass Ray Allen on the NBA s all-time scoring list. Anthony now ranks 23rd (24,562 points) and fourth among active players behind Dirk Nowitzki, LeBron James and Vince Carter. Anthony is also one of six players in league history alongside Kobe Bryant, Vince Carter, LeBron James, Dirk Nowitzki and Paul Pierce to record 24,000 points, 6,000 rebounds, 2,500 assists, 1,000 steals and 1,000 three-point field goals. NBA ALL-TIME SCORING LIST 21. Patrick Ewing 48, Vince Carter 24, Carmelo Anthony 24, Ray Allen 24, Allen Iverson 24,368 Blue October: The Thunder wrapped October play with a three-game road trip that ended with a win over the Bucks on Halloween night. This win was their second straight 19-point or better win, marking just the third time in Thunder history that the team has won consecutive road games by 19 points or more. In the three games from Oct Nov. 3, the Thunder allowed an average of 36.7 points in the first half and held opponents to 42 or fewer points in the first half of those games, which is the first time since Nov , 2014 that they have done so. Opening Night: Oklahoma City tipped off its 10th NBA season by taking on the New York Knicks on Oct. 19 at Chesapeake Energy Arena, which marked the club s 300th consecutive sellout. In this game, Oklahoma City held New York to the lowest opponent opening night score in Thunder history (previous low was 86 points against the Spurs on Nov. 1, 2012). The Thunder now holds a 9-1 record in home openers, which is tied for second-best in the league since the season (Miami, San Antonio) behind Portland s 10-0 record. They also now hold a 7-3 opening night record while going 3-0 under Head Coach Billy Donovan. Preseason Basketball: The Thunder wrapped up preseason play with a Tuesday night contest against the Nuggets at the Pepsi Center in Denver, where they won This matchup was the fourth and final game of Oklahoma City s 10th preseason, following games against Houston, New Orleans and Melbourne United of Australia s National Basketball League. The Thunder now holds a preseason record of.500 or better in seven of the eight last seasons. 100 for Billy: Last season, Billy Donovan notched his 100th career victory to become the first head coach in NBA history to win 100 games in the first two seasons after coming immediately from the college ranks. Moreover, Donovan is one of three current NBA head coaches to win 100 wins in two seasons with their current respective franchise (Carlisle and Kerr). In all of NBA history, only 18 coaches have won 100 games in their first two NBA seasons as head coach. Additionally, Donovan became just the third first-year head coach in the last 15 years to win 55+ games during his first season. Triple-Double Dip: To cap off his MVP season, Russell Westbrook registered his NBA-record-setting 42nd triple-double of the season on April 9, 2017 in Denver (Oscar Roberson tallied 41 triple-doubles during the season). Trailing with 2.9 seconds left, Westbrook connected on a gamewinning 36-foot 3-point field goal to also become the only player in NBA history to post three 50-point triple-doubles in a single season. Furthermore, he is the only player in NBA history to register seven consecutive triple doubles on two separate occasions during a single season. Westbrook also posted five straight 30-point triple-doubles last season to become the only player in NBA history to ever accomplish the feat. To put further perspective on Westbrook s triple-doubles, there are 11 NBA teams that have amassed fewer triple-doubles in their entire team history as compared to the 42 logged by Westbrook last season. OK3: The trio of Russell Westbrook, Paul George and Carmelo Anthony combined for 5,992 total points last season, which is the most by any other set of three teammates in the league this year. They are followed by Minnesota s Karl-Anthony Towns, Andrew Wiggins and Jimmy Butler (5,810 combined points) and Cleveland s Isaiah Thomas, LeBron James and Derrick Rose (5,307 combined points). Anthony also earned the honor of NBA scoring champion for the season along with his six All-NBA selections. George was named the most improved player in the NBA while earning three All- NBA and three All-Defensive selections himself. Fun and Olympic Games: This year s Thunder squad contains three Olympic gold medalists for Team USA including Carmelo Anthony (2008, 2012, 2016), Russell Westbrook (2012) and Paul George (2016). Additionally, Carmelo Anthony holds the title of all-time leading scorer for the United States Olympic Men s National Team. Oklahoma City also has two Olympic bronze medalists in Carmelo Anthony (2004) and Alex Abrines (2016) who played for Spain. 20/20 Vision: On Oct. 28 at Chicago, Carmelo Anthony recorded a game-leading 21 points, making him the first player in Thunder history to score at least 20 points in his first six games with Oklahoma City. He has also led the team in scoring three times and logged two double-doubles. Paul in a Day s Work: Paul George is the only player since he was drafted in 2010 with at least 2,800 rebounds, 700 steals and a three-point percentage of.370 or better. In that same timeframe, he is one of just five players with at least 8,000 points in 400 starts or less alongside Damian Lillard, Isaiah Thomas, Kyrie Irving and Kemba Walker.

4 OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER NOTES.... Around the World: Oklahoma City is undefeated when hosting international teams at Chesapeake Energy Arena following their win over Melbourne United on Oct. 8. This marked the third time the Thunder has played host to an international squad in Oklahoma City. Previously, the team welcomed Fenerbahce Ulker in 2015 (W, ) and CSKA Moscow in 2010 (W, 97-89). Oklahoma City now holds a 5-1 preseason record against international teams as they have also played at Fenerbahce Ulker in 2013 (W, 95-82) and made a trip to Spain last year where they faced Real Madrid (L, ) and FC Barcelona (W, 92-89). OKC is Fan Friendly: The Thunder once again played in front of a packed house at Chesapeake Energy Arena on opening night vs. New York on Oct. 19, recording its 300th consecutive sellout (including both regular season and playoffs). Oklahoma City was also named first in the league in fan experience following a league-wide audit last season and ranks third in the NBA in local TV ratings, fifth in season ticket subscriptions and renewals, and seventh in social media audience and merchandise sales. Fans in attendance this season will enjoy the improvements made to Chesapeake Energy Arena for the Thunder s 10th anniversary including a Thunder Cares community outreach display, Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame viewing area, season ticket member recognition wall, interactive digital display where fans can share their stories, KultureCity sensory-inclusion area for fans that needs a calm, quiet atmosphere, digital Fan Assist to provide fans with real-time support, and much more. Boards are the Barometer: The Thunder closed out the season as the leading rebounding team in the NBA (46.6 rpg). OKC went 20-3 last season when outrebounding the opposition by 10 or more. Additionally, the Thunder led the NBA with respect to points in the paint (49.9 per game). OKC went 12-2 when scoring 60+ points in the paint. 40-Point Games: Including his franchise-best 58-point outing on March 7 versus Portland, Russell Westbrook became the first player since Kobe Bryant (during the season) to score 40 or more in four straight games. Westbrook scored 40 or more points in three straight games twice last season, thereby becoming one of just four players to accomplish the feat since the merger (Moses Malone, Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant). In the clutch: Throughout the season, Russell Westbrook continued to be very effective in clutch late game situation as he connected on four go-ahead field goals in the final 10 seconds, which was the most in the NBA. ( Clutch is defined as the final 5 minutes of regulation and overtime when the score is within a five-point differential). Below are several of Westbrook s ranks in those late-game situations last season. During the Thunder s win versus the Grizzlies on Feb. 3, 2017, Westbrook scored the last 15 points of the game to become the first player since Michael Jordan (11/21/97) to record the final 13+ points of a game. Additionally, Westbrook set a career high by scoring 21 fourth quarter points during the Thunder s win versus New Orleans on Feb. 26. More recently, after trailing by 13 with 3:31 in regulation, the Thunder scored 14 unanswered points to defeat Dallas on Mar. 27 (Westbrook scored 12 of the Thunder s final 14 points). Two nights later, Westbrook scored 26 points during the fourth quarter and overtime as OKC rallied from a 21- point deficit to defeat the Magic on Mar. 29. Westbrook capped-off his clutch play this season, by connecting on the game-winning 3-point field goal as time expired on April 9 in Denver (Westbrook outscored the Nuggets himself 13-2 in the final 2:30). WESTBROOK IN THE CLUTCH Points (247): Ranked 1st Plus/Minus (+85): Ranked 3rd Steals (11): Ranked T-2nd Assists (28): Ranked 4th Rebounds (53): Ranked 5th Home Cooking: Since arriving in Oklahoma City in 2008, the Thunder has always taken pride in defending its home court. Oklahoma City finished the season with a home record of 32-9 (tied for 4th best home record in the NBA). Included in that, OKC went an impressive 23-3 at Chesapeake Energy Arena that year when facing Western Conference opponents. Dating back to the start of the season, OKC has gone (.752) at home, which stands as the second-best home record in the NBA during this span. Sustaining Success: In the past eight seasons, OKC has compiled the second-best record in the NBA (behind San Antonio). After the season in which Oklahoma City won 20 games after a 3-29 start, the Thunder found ways to improve the club in each of the four subsequent seasons. With a record during the season, Oklahoma City became just the second team in NBA history (Boston, ) to increase its winning percentage for five consecutive seasons (while maintaining a winning percentage of.700 or better in two of those seasons). On March 24, 2016, the Thunder claimed a 22-point home victory over the Jazz and in the process, OKC recorded the team s 50th win of the season. Oklahoma City has now finished with a winning percentage of.610 (equivalent to 50 wins) six times dating back to the season. Only the San Antonio Spurs (eight seasons with.610 or better winning percentage), have reached that benchmark more during this period. After finishing the season with a record of 47-35, OKC is now one of three teams (Houston and San Antonio) to maintain a.500 or better record in each of the last eight seasons.
