Brian Gibney Everyone who knows Brian Gibney, has worked with Brian Gibney, taught with Brian Gibney, coached with and against Brian Gibney, played for Brian Gibney and loves Brian Gibney, will agree to a few adjectives that describe him perfectly: unassuming, modest, unpretentious, and humble. 5 Noreen Iannuzzi (I-a-nu-zee) In 1973, Shawnee High School was the New Kid on the Block when it came to high school athletics. Only a few years old, we took our knocks on the courts, mats, and athletic fields from the more experienced competitors in our leagues. While trying to establish an athletic presence in Burlington County, no female Shawnee athlete could compare to Noreen Iannuzzi when it came to drive, motivation, tenacity, school spirit, and selflessness on the basketball court, and hockey and softball fields. She was a Renegade, through and through. Noreen was a triple threat in basketball, field hockey and softball, and was captain of all three teams back in the early days, earning 9 Varsity letters for her athletic prowess. She was Shawnee's First Female Athlete of the Year and captained Shawnee's first ever League Championship in Softball. After graduation from Shawnee High School, Noreen attended Rutgers University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting with the highest honors. Noreen retired from her job as the Director of the Division of Financial Evaluation for the State of New Jersey Casino Control Commission. Noreen Iannuzzi, Shawnee Class of 1973, will always be remembered as a small, but mighty Renegade. She was fearless when faced with indomitable, experienced competition. Noreen put the TEAM first,

requesting that she be benched when she wasn't having a good day on the field or on the court, rather than jeopardize the outcome for her teammates. A true pioneer when it comes to the early days of Shawnee Athletic history, we all thank Noreen Iannuzzi for her contribution to our now well established sports legacy. We couldn't have done it without her. Sadly, Noreen passed away this very June after a lengthy and courageous battle. Weeks before while in hospice care, Shawnee administrators and her former Field Hockey coach, Bobbie Schultz, visited Noreen to make the official presentation of this award. Family, friends, neighbors and co-workers assembled nearby to witness this honor finally bestowed on so worthy a Shawnee athlete and give her the accolades that she deserved. Kirk Luchman A history of Shawnee boys basketball cannot be written without giving outstanding acclaim to Kirk Luchman, also a member of the famed Class of Playing as our center, Kirk earned three varsity letters from on a very competitive team locally, and in an equally competitive Group 4 division within the State of NJ. He was also honored for his incredible talent under the basket as All Burlington County, All

South Jersey, South Jersey Basketball Hall of Fame, and All Philadelphia Metro. Kirk went on to star at Florida State University with varsity letters earned all four years. He co-captained his team of Seminoles for two years and was an NIT finalist in He also played for the Jacksonville Barracudas and Pennsylvania Valley Dawgs. Kirk then went on to stun the basketball fans in Europe for two seasons, playing in Germany and France. Kirk graduated from Florida State University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems. He is a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. Kirk went on to complete several insurance designations programs at the American Institute of Insurance. As an Insurance Professional and Restaurant Owner, he is employed by Preferred Managing Agency, Inc. as Vice-President of Marketing and Manager of Product Development. He is CFO for a chain of pizza restaurants in Tallahassee, Gainesville, and Jacksonville. Lastly, he is President and Chairman of the Board for the non-profit KASL Foundation, Inc. in Tallahassee. Over the years, Kirk has held a number of prominent business positions throughout the State of Florida. Through his non-profit organization, KASL Foundation, he works to raise money for sports teams in the Tallahassee area and organizes fund raising events. Kirk is married to Virginia Luchman and has four children.

Peter Rath Peter Rath, Class of 1989, will always be remembered for his outstanding athletic presence on the Shawnee High School Boys Soccer and Baseball fields. Peter earned eight Varsity letters while at Shawnee, playing Midfielder in Soccer, and Infield and Outfield in Baseball. For all of his hard work and dedication, Peter and his teammates won the 1988 NJ State Soccer Championship, were ranked #4 in the United States, and were subsequently awarded the South Jersey High School Team of the Century distinction by the Courier-Post. This was the first team ever from South Jersey to win the Group 4 State Title. Peter was also State Champion runner up in Baseball, All State in Soccer, All County and All South Jersey in Soccer and Baseball, as well as two-time captain in both Soccer and Baseball. Pete was named the Athlete of the Year by his Shawnee classmates in After graduating from Shawnee, Peter turned his talents to the college level while attending Elizabethtown College. 9 leader on teams which made it to the National Soccer Final 8 all of his four years. He was awarded All Region in soccer twice and was a twotime captain. Smith, Shawnee High School Class of 1974, was one of our greatest athletic pioneers in early Football, Wrestling, and Baseball history. Shawnee was only four years old, at this time. Glenn earned 6 Varsity letters in Football, Wrestling, and Baseball. In Football, Glenn played Running Back and was awarded All Burlington County honors all three years. She was as outstanding in Track and Field, as she was in Field Hockey.

In Field Hockey, Tater as she was fondly called, earned two Varsity letters, as well as numerous awards, such as 1 st Team All South Jersey Group 4, All South Jersey Honorable Mention, and South Jersey Field Hockey All-Star Game Participant. She played on a state championship field hockey team. Kristine was recruited by Rutgers University-New Brunswick and earned four Varsity letters for the Scarlet Knights, as well as winning more awards, such as First Team Regional All American, RU Defensive Player of the Year. Kristine traveled throughout the United States and Europe with the USA Field Hockey Development Program, earning three bronze medals at Olympic Festivals in Oklahoma City, Minneapolis, and Los Angeles. In Shawnee Track and Field, Kristine earned three Varsity letters in Indoor Track and four for Outdoor. Her events were the sprints, middle distance, 400m hurdles, and jumps. In 1985, Kristine helped bring home the trophy for the New Jersey Group 4 Indoor State Relay Championship in the Sprint Medley. Shawnee Girls Track and Field teams dominated the sport by going undefeated in dual outdoor meets and Kris was a major contributor. After Kristine graduated from Rutgers in 1990 with a B.A. in Geography, she went on to earn another degree a B.S. in Nursing Science from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. She is currently employed as a Flight Nurse for CALSTAR, a medical air transport company based in Sacramento, CA.
