There are two featured MAC Games of the Week slated for FSN Ohio. Wednesday Ball State is at Ohio at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m. Bowling Green is at Toledo. Toledo won back-to-back league games for the first time this year with wins last week vs. Buffalo and Miami. In Saturday s triumph over Miami, the Rockets went on a 15-0 run in the second half after Miami had overcome a 15 point deficit to take a four-point lead. Danielle Bishop and Savannah Werner each scored 20 points for the Rockets. Liz Honegger reached 1,000 career points with 6 points in BG s win over Western Michigan. Ali Mann led the victors with 22 points while Carrie Moore carried WMU with 28 points. Lauren Revesz had 26 in the absence of leading scorer Simone Redd (ankle injury) as Ohio triumphed at Northern Illinois. Bobcat head coach Lynn Bria earned her 75th career victory at OU, the second most in school history. Lindsay Shearer, with 26 points, had her fifth consecutive game with 20-plus points in Kent State s win over Central Michigan. The Golden Flashes maintained their one game lead over Ohio for second place in the East. Tina Bolte drilled a 3-point goal with 9 seconds left for a win over Akron. Erica Cotton led BSU with a career-high 19 points. The Zips Jessie Crooks captured game high honors with 22 points, her third consecutive outing of 20 or more points. In MAC only games, BSU s Kelsey Corbin is 23-of-23 from the line and UB s Heather Turner is shooting 66.7 percent (38-of-57) from the field.

Illinois Jan Casey Rost, W.Michigan Mid-American Conference Players Of The Week EAST DIVISION Lindsay Shearer, Kent State Senior, foward - Minerva, Ohio/Minerva Shearer averaged 24.0 points and 8.5 rebounds as the Golden Flashes went 1-1 last week. In the loss at Eastern Michigan, she had 22 points and four rebounds and in the win over Central Michigan she had 26 points and 12 rebounds. Shearer also went 24-of-26 (92.3 percent) from the free throw line and 45.8 percent (11-of-24) from the field. Already the league s top scorer at 20.1 ppg, Shearer averaged 4.0 ppg above her average for the week. WEST DIVISION Savannah Werner - Toledo Junior, forward - Angola, Ind./Angola The Rockets won back-to-back conference games for the first time this year as Werner led the way with her averages of 16.0 points and 7.0 rebounds in each contest. She shot 65.0 percent (13-of-20 from the field and had just one turnover in 65 minutes. She had 20 points and six rebounds in a win over Miami and 12 points and a team-high eight rebounds in a victory at Buffalo. ADDITIONAL NOMINEES - EAST DIVISION Jessie Crooks, Akron - Jr., F: Crooks averaged 21.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in two games. She had game highs in each outing with 21 points in a loss to Northern Illinois and a career-high 22 points in a loss at Ball State, including 17 points in the second half. Achter had 19 points, nine rebounds three assists and two steals in the victory over Western Michigan. Eve Pyle, Miami - Fr., F: Pyle averaged 12.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in two game. She poured in 19 points and snagged a Miami freshman record 15 rebounds in a win at Ball State, which included two game winning free throws by her with two seconds remaining. Ciara Iglehart, Ohio - Sr., F: Iglehart averaged 18.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in two games. Her best outing was a career-high 23 points in an loss at Western Michigan. She also had 14 points and six boards in a win at Northern Illinois. ADDITIONAL NOMINEES - WEST DIVISION Erica Cotton, Ball State - Sr., G: Cotton averaged 18.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.0 assists as the Cardinals split a pair of one-point games. She had a career-high 19 points in a win over Akron and had 17 points in a loss to Miami. Patrice McKinney, Eastern Michigan - So., G: McKinney averaged 13.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 blocked shots and 1.0 steals as EMU topped Kent State and Buffalo McKinney shot 50.0 percent (11-of-22) from the field and had her best game of 20 points and 13 rebounds vs. KSU. Stephanie Raymond, Northern Illinois - Jr., G: Raymond averaged 17.0 points, 5.5 assists, 2.5 steals and 2.0 rebounds as the Huskies went 1-1. She had 16 points in a win at Akron and followed with 18 points in a loss to Ohio. Carrie Moore, Western Michigan - Jr., G: Moore posted numbers of 23.5 points and 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals in two games. She had 19 points in an win vs. Ohio and a game-high 28 points in a defeat at the hands of Bowling Green.

3 MAC Women s Basketball Bowling Green and Eastern Michigan Tabbed As MAC Women s Favorites The Mid-American Conference announced that Bowling Green (East Division) and Eastern Michigan (West Division) have been chosen as preseason favorites to win their respective divisions in women s basketball. Voting was conducted by members of the MAC News Media Association. The Falcons were also tabbed to win the MAC Tournament. MAC Preseason All-Conference Team East Division Name, School, Cl., Pos. The newest alignment is as follows: East Division Akron, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Kent State, Miami and Ohio. West Division- Ball State, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois, Toledo and Western Michigan. New Faces Two first time head coaches will patrol MAC sidelines this year with each division offering a new coach. In the West, Carol Owens returns to her alma mater at Northern Illinois from a position as an associate coach at the University of Notre Dame. Owens, who became the first-ever Huskie to garner career numbers of 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds while leading the team to a No. 17 ranking in the final AP poll in 1990, helped the Fighting Irish to the NCAA Championship in The East Division welcomes Linda Hill-MacDonald as head coach, who takes over the Buffalo program from her position as assistant coach at South Carolina. Hill-MacDonald has previous head coaching experience at Temple ( ) and Minnesota ( ) in the collegiate ranks and for the Cleveland Rockers ( ) of the WNBA. A MAC First For the first time in MAC history, women s basketball has produced three 20-win teams three years in a row. In 2005, league champion Bowling Green and West division champion Eastern Michigan each tallied 23 victories while co-east champion Kent State had 21 wins. In 2004 Miami (22), EMU (22) and BGSU (21) reached 20-plus wins. The 2003 campaign saw three West division teams reach the 20-win plateau - Ball State (21), Toledo (20) and Western Michigan (20). Tournament Changes The Mid-American Conference Women s Basketball Tournament will be held in the same building that it has been for the past five years -- it will just have a new name. Quicken Loans Arena (The Q), formerly Gund Arena -- will be the site for the 2006 Kraft MAC Women s Basketball Tournament. This year, four teams will receive a bye -- the East & West Division Champions and the two teams that finish in second place in each diivision. First round matchups will have all cross-division matchups. All-MAC Returnees 13 of 20 All-MAC selections will return for the season. Indianapolis was selected to host in 2005, Boston in 2006 and Cleveland was picked for The Mid-American Conference, along with Cleveland State, will serve as co-hosts for the event at Quicken Loans Arena. First and second-round games will start on Saturday, March 17, with regionals slated to start on Saturday, March 24. The Women s Final Four will be Sunday, April 1 and Tuesday, April 3 at Quicken Loans Arena. In preparation for the event, facility will host this season s Midwest Regional on March 26th and 28th. MAC Media Relations The Internet - The Mid-American Conference maintains its website at Complete information on the league and the member schools is available. The MAC website features the MAC Beat, standings and statistics, as well as Player of the Week awards for all 23 MAC sponsored sports. The MAC Beat highlights national and regional stories written by the writers who cover the 12 MAC schools on a daily basis. MAC Press Release The MAC communications staff will update a release, including team notes, results and MAC Players of the Week the following morning after games are played during the season. Complete league statistics will be updated via the conference web site daily following games. MAC Players of The Week A MAC East Division and West Division Player of the Week will be chosen each Monday during the regular season. Nominations are submitted by the school sports information offices and the winners are selected by the MAC media relations staff.

The last two games, the Zips have averaged 66.5 points, well above the season average of 55.8 Courtney Stewart is tied for second in the league in steals per game (2.72), is fourth in three-point goals per game (1.89) and is 25th in scoring at 10.1 ppg. Stewart s 34 3-point goals have surpassed her total of last year (31) and her 49 steals is also better than her 2005 total of 40. Earlier this year the Falcons Ali Mann had reached 1,000 career points. The Falcons have won 14 consecutive games at home and 17 of the last 18 dating back to last year. Bowling Green is 7-0 at home this season. In Saturday s win over Western Michigan, Kate Achter scored a career-high 19 points and tied another career mark with 9 rebounds. She was 11-of-13 from the line, including 8-of-8 in the second half. In MAC-only games, BG leads the league in assists (15.7 per game), steals (11.6 per game), turnover margin (+8.4) and scoring (71.1 ppg).
