All-Star Football eras in Minnesota: There have been three different eras in the history of the Minnesota High School All-Star Football Game : The Minneapolis Times newspaper sponsored the first two games. The All-Star Game was idle from 1947 through 1951 because the Big 10 Conference denied the use of its facilities to high school all-star football games. The decision by the Big 10 Conference was in support of a National High School Federation recommendation to ban high school all-star games : The All-Star Game resumed in 1952 under the sponsorship of the Fifth District American Legion.
