Again on offense the Thunder did a good job of distributing the ball, racking up 25 assists, led by nine from Russell Westbrook. Over the past three preseason games, the Thunder has averaged 28.3 assists per game. Six different players scored in double figures for the Thunder, and all 12 players who saw action got into the scoring column. Seven different Thunder players scored in double figures, while 11 total players scored for Oklahoma City on the night. Andy Rautins led the way with 20 points on 7-for-10 shooting, while rookie Perry Jones chipped in 17 points on 8-for-10 shooting and Serge Ibaka finished with a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds. 5 OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER NOTES.... Preseason Notes: Oklahoma City will look for a fourth straight exhibition victory tonight in the club s second to last preseason contest. Heading into this evening s match-up against the Bulls, the OKC franchise stands all-time in preseason meetings versus Chicago. Also worth noting this preseason, the Thunder s training camp roster features 12 returning players from last season s NBA Finals squad Rewind: Oklahoma City concluded the regular season with the second best record in the Western Conference (47-19) and the highest yearend winning percentage for the franchise since the season (.744). The Thunder s.712 winning percentage this past season ranks fourth best all-time for the franchise. When the dust finally settled on the season, the Thunder claimed a second consecutive Northwest Division title after finishing 9.0 games above the second place, Denver Nuggets. Oklahoma City has advanced to postseason play in each of the last three seasons for the first time since Playoffs: During the 2012 Finals, the Thunder represented the Western Conference after becoming became just the third team in NBA history to win four straight games in the Conference Finals after trailing 0-2. Oklahoma City advanced to the NBA Finals for the fourth time in franchise history (and for the first time since 1996) after defeating the Dallas Mavericks (4-0), the Los Angeles Lakers (4-1) and the San Antonio Spurs (4-2). Winning: Since the start of the season, only the Chicago Bulls (163) and the San Antonio Spurs (161) have claimed more victories than the Oklahoma City Thunder (152). Since Kendrick Perkins made his Oklahoma City debut in the middle of the season on 3/14/11 at Washington, the Thunder has posted a record (.723). A Golden Summer: This past summer, Kevin Durant, James Harden and Russell Westbrook each earned gold medals in London as a member of the United States Olympic Team. During Olympic competition, the United States team went a perfect 8-0 including a victory in the gold medal game against Serge Ibaka and the Spanish team. Including his 30-point effort vs. Spain in the gold medal game, Kevin Durant led all US scores after averaging 19.5 points during Olympic play (Durant set a USA Basketball record by scoring 156 points during Olympic play). Meanwhile, James Harden and Russell Westbrook each appeared in all eight games for the United States and recorded scoring averages of 5.5 points and 8.5 points, respectively. With the Spanish team, Ibaka earned a silver medal after averaging 8.0 points and 4.4 rebounds in eight games. Summer League: This past summer, the Thunder posted a 3-2 record during the AirTran Airways Orlando Summer Pro League. Current Thunder players Cole Aldrich, Lazar Hayward, Reggie Jackson and Perry Jones competed in the week-long event. Third year guard Lazar Hayward paced the Thunder in scoring with a 15.8 point per game average. Meanwhile, Thunder guard Reggie Jackson averaged 15.3 points to go along with a team leading 3.5 assists per game while Thunder center Cole Aldrich led the team in blocked shots while averaging 5.0 points and 6.5 rebounds. Nearly 10K: In 380 career outings, Kevin Durant stands just 22 points shy of the 10,000 point scoring benchmark. After amassing 9,978 career points through his first five NBA seasons, Durant is on pace become the 15 th fastest player in NBA history to reach the 10,000 point plateau. Durant is set to become the sixth player in all-time franchise history to cross the 10,000 point barrier {Jack Sikma was the fastest player to reach 10,000 points scored (599 games)}. Bouncing Back: Dating back to the start of the season, Oklahoma City has demonstrated a high level of resiliency in those games played immediately after a loss. After the Thunder s bounce-back win over the Sacramento Kings on April 24 th of last season, Oklahoma City finished with a 15-3 mark in games played after a loss. Only the Chicago Bulls recorded a better record in those games played after a loss (15-1). This comes on the heels of the season in which Oklahoma City posted a record of 20-6 in games played immediately after a loss. The Thunder s.769 winning percentage in those games played after a defeat was trumped once again by only the Chicago Bulls (16-4 following a loss). Block Party: When the dust settled on the regular season, the Thunder not only led the NBA in blocked shots (8.17 bpg), but Oklahoma City recorded the highest block per game total in the NBA in nearly 20 years. The Denver Nuggets team (8.37 bpg) was the last group to average more blocks than last year s Thunder squad. Serge Ibaka led the NBA while setting an all-time franchise record with a 3.65 block per game average (most blocks per game since Theo Ratliff recorded 3.74 bpg during the season). To put a bit more perspective on Ibaka s accomplishment; with a total of 241 blocks last season, Ibaka recorded only 19 fewer blocks than the entire New Jersey Nets team. During the Thunder s game versus the Nuggets on 2/19, Ibaka set a franchise record by blocking 11 shots en route to his first career triple-double. On the season Ibaka became the first player to register three 10-plus blocks games since Shawn Bradley during the season (five games with 10+ blocks). Getting Defensive: As one might expect, team defense is critical to overall team success. Last season, the Thunder showed material improvement in a number of defensive categories. After allowing points per game on 46.2% shooting through the first 66 games of the season (in which the team started 43-23), the Thunder responded by holding the opposition to 96.9 points on 42.7% opponent field goal percentage this past season. The Thunder wrapped up last year by going a perfect 16-0 when limiting the opponent to less than 90 points. Including the Thunder s win over the Sacramento Kings on April 13 th, Oklahoma City held 19 opponents to less than 40.0% shooting, while posting a 15-4 record in those games. Point Made: With a point per game scoring average last season, the Oklahoma City Thunder finished behind only the Denver Nuggets (104.1 ppg) and the San Antonio Spurs (103.6 ppg) in the quest to become the NBA s highest scoring team. During the season, the Thunder led the NBA in free throw shooting accuracy (80.6%) while ranking third in field goal shooting accuracy (47.1%). OKC finished the year a perfect 18-0 when shooting 50.0% or better from the field. Road Warriors: With the regular season now in the record books, Oklahoma City once again found success playing away from Chesapeake Energy Arena. In 33 games road games last season, the Thunder registered a mark {3 rd best road record in the NBA behind Chicago (24-9) and San Antonio (22-11)}. The Thunder was one of only THREE Western Conference teams (Denver & San Antonio) to boast a winning road record. Home Cooking: Last season, the Thunder registered a 14-game home winning streak which represented the longest home win streak for the OKC franchise since the season (17 game home win streak from 11/11/94 1/24/95). Prior to the Thunder s home loss versus Cleveland on 3/9/12, more than two months had elapsed between Thunder home losses (1/3/12 vs. POR). The Thunder finished behind only Miami (28-5) and San Antonio (28-5) in the race for the NBA s best home record. Dynamic Duo: With a combined total of 51.6 points per game last season, Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook became the highest scoring duo in franchise history (surpassing their own previous record of 48.2 ppg during and followed by Dale Ellis and Tom Chambers 48.2 point per game average during the season). Durant and Westbrook surpassed the tandem of LeBron James and Dwyane Wade (combined 49.2 ppg) to become the highest scoring pair of teammates in the NBA during During the Thunder s outing against the Denver Nuggets on 2/19, the Thunder prevailed after receiving a combined 91 points from Kevin Durant (51 points) and Russell Westbrook (40 points). The 91 combined points for the two players is an all-time franchise record. After Durant and Westbrook each scored 40+ points in the Thunder s recent outing vs. Minnesota (3/23) the duo becomes the first pair of teammates in NBA history to each score 40+ points on two separate occasions during a single season. On 14 occasions dating back to the start of last season Durant and Westbrook have each scored 30-plus points in the same game (11-3 record).

6 Making them Look Free: For a second season in a row, the Thunder finished as the top free throw shooting team in the NBA (OKC shot 80.6% from the free throw line). OKC finished the season leading the NBA in free throw makes per game (21.3) while ranking second in free throw attempts per game (26.4). In four instances last season the Thunder converted 30-plus free throws and on each occasion the Thunder won the contest. During the season, OKC shot a league-best 82.3% from the free throw line (5 th highest percentage in NBA history). On the year, OKC converted 30+ FTs on eighteen occasions (16-2 record) after doing so six times during all of the season (4-2 record). During the season Durant recorded 756 free throw makes, an all-time OKC Thunder franchise record and the 6 th most in NBA history for a single season. Durant s 756 free throws made were the most for a single-season since Michael Jordan recorded 833 free throw makes during the season. KD is the ONLY player in NBA history to convert 700+ free throws while shooting 90.0% or better. Just Another Back-2-Back: Including the Thunder s season opening back to back on Nov. 1 (at San Antonio) and Nov. 2 (vs. Portland), Oklahoma City is set to play 15 back-to-backs during the season. Last year, the Thunder competed in 18 sets of back-to-backs (in addition to the team s lone back-to-back-toback) while recording nine sweeps of those back-to-backs in addition to the club s sweep of their only back-to-back-to-back. Oklahoma City posted a 15-4 mark on the first night and a 14-6 record on the second or third night of a back-to-back during the season. 3X Scoring Champ: After averaging an even 28.0 points per game last season, Kevin Durant becomes the seventh player in NBA history to capture three consecutive scoring crowns {Michael Jordan was the last player to win three straight scoring titles ( )}. By claiming back-to-back-to-back scoring titles, Durant has joined a hall-of-fame list of NBA players to record the feat (Michael Jordan, George Gervin, Bob McAdoo, Wilt Chamberlain, Neil Johnston and George Mikan). During the season, Durant became the youngest scoring champion in NBA history (21 years and 197 days). Harden Heats Up: James Harden once again continued to impact games for the Thunder in a reserve capacity throughout the season. Harden, the NBA s Sixth Man of the Year in came off the bench in 60 of his 62 appearances this past season for Oklahoma City and in all but four instances he proceeded to score in double figures. Harden was oftentimes the difference-maker for Oklahoma City. This was further validated by the fact that the Thunder posted a 14-1 record last season when Harden scored 20-plus points. Harden s 16.8 point per game average was tops in the NBA among reserves (min. 40 games). James Harden Comparison to recent 6 th Men of The Year Player (TEAM) Year PPG FG% James Harden (OKC) % Lamar Odom (LAL) % Jamal Crawford (ATL) % Jason Terry (DAL) % Manu Ginobili (SA) % Leandro Barbosa (PHX) % OKC is Fan Friendly: The Thunder enters the season after registering sell-out during all 33 games at Chesapeake Energy last season. This occurs on the heels of the season in which the Thunder sold out 14 consecutive games to close the regular season and 35 games overall. Fans in attendance this year will once again enjoy the improvements made to the Chesapeake Energy Arena as part of a taxpayer funded initiative passed in March Thanks to the publically funded initiative, the team s arena boasts a state-of-the art scoreboard, new terrace suites, an updated main concourse with new concession stands, a new Sunset Lounge on the Club Level and a first-class courtside club. Boards are the Barometer: As one might expect, Oklahoma City has traditionally found their greatest success when outrebounding the opposition. During the season, Oklahoma City went 31-5 when outrebounding the opponent (12-1 when outrebounding the opponent by 10 or more). Conversely, OKC has failed to outrebounded their opponent in 14 of the team s 19 losses this season. During the season, OKC registered a mark when outrebounding their opponent. Russell Rules: Russell Westbrook now in his fifth NBA season currently maintains the longest active games played streak in the NBA (appeared in 312 straight games). During Westbrook s first three full seasons in the NBA, he became one of only five players in NBA history to record 4,000 points, 1,500 assists and 1,000 rebounds through three NBA seasons (Chris Paul, LeBron James, Anfernee Hardaway and Oscar Robertson). By averaging better than 21+ points and 8+ assists last season, Westbrook became just the FIFTH player in the last 15 years to average 21+ points and 8+ assists {Gary Payton (4x), Stephon Marbury (4x), Chris Paul (2x) and LeBron James). Players to Avg. 19+ points, 6+ assists and 4+ rebounds through first 4 years of career (last 10 years) Player (TEAM) Points Assists Rebounds Russell Westbrook (OKC) Chris Paul (NO) LeBron James (CLE) Dwyane Wade (MIA) Steve Francis (HOU) Over the Hill: After recording 40 points last season on April 18 th versus Phoenix, James Harden became the third Thunder player to score 40-plus points on the season; joining Kevin Durant (four 40-point games) and Russell Westbrook (two 40-point games) in accomplishing the feat. The OKC franchise last had three players score 40-plus points in the same year during the season (Tom Chambers, Dale Ellis & Xavier McDaniel). After scoring 40 points as a reserve, James Harden became the first bench player in the last two NBA seasons to record a 40-point game, tallying the league s most points by a reserve since March 27, 2010, when Maverick guard Rodrique Beaubois scored 40 points against Golden State. Durant, Harden and Westbrook are the first trio of teamates to each record 40 points in a season since Stephen Curry, Monta Ellis and CJ Watson accomplished the feat as members of the Golden State Warriors during the season. Awfully Good in OT: Despite falling to the L.A. Lakers in double overtime on 4/22/12, the Thunder finished last season with a 3-1 record in overtime affairs. During the season, the Thunder became just the FIFTH team in NBA history to win eight overtime games in a single season (8-2). OKC set an all-time franchise record by winning five straight overtime games to start the season and the club s eight OT wins are the most in the NBA since 2002, when the Detroit Pistons went 8-0 in their overtime contests. During the season, OKC captured the franchises first-ever triple-overtime victory (12/1/10) against New Jersey (the OKC franchise was previously 0-4 all-time in triple overtime games). 30 Never Looked so Good: Kevin Durant will once again look to duplicate another hot start to the season after getting off to a quick start to begin Durant hit the 30-point scoring mark in each of the Thunder s first four games last season to become one of only four players in the last 30 years to open the season with four straight 30-point scoring efforts (Most recent: Kobe Bryant in ). In the last four seasons, Durant has scored 30+ points in 122 games (most in the NBA). Most importantly for Oklahoma City, the Thunder has found a great deal of success on Durant s biggest nights. Dating back to the start of the season the Thunder has posted a (.759) record when Durant hits the 30-point plateau. During the season, Durant set a franchise record by scoring 30+ points on 47 occasions. While on the topic of 30-point scoring games, during the Thunder s come-from-behind victory over the Phoenix Suns on March 7 th of last season, Kevin Durant (30 points), James Harden (30 points) and Russell Westbrook (31 points) each recorded 30+ points in a game for the first time in franchise history since 2/26/1988 (Tom Chambers, Dale Ellis and Xavier McDaniel). One For the Record Books: The Thunder s overtime win versus the Denver Nuggets on February 19 th was not your average Oklahoma City victory. It was the first game in NBA history in which a set of teammates recorded a 50-point effort (Kevin Durant; 51 points), a 40-point effort (Russell Westbrook, 40 points) and a triple-double (Serge Ibaka; 14 points, 15 rebounds and 11 blocks). Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook are the first set of teammates to score 50 and 40 points, respectively since Kiki Vandeweghe (51 points) and Alex English (47 points) accomplished the feat on 12/13/1983 vs. DET (3OT). The 91 combined points by Durant and Westbrook is a franchise record. To put a bit more perspective on such an accomplishment, through February 19 th, there had been 323 NBA games this season in which a team as a whole failed to score 91 points.
