The Varsity Anahuac Panthers ended the 2015 season at home against Kountze, a game short of a playoff berth. The Panthers found their identity mid-season with impressive wins against Hardin and Warren. The adjustments made in the offensive and defensive schemes were just what the Anahuac Panthers needed moving into the 2016 season. The Panthers evolved to a multiple I formation to take advantage of a talented group of running backs. Defensively, the Panthers showed more than the 4-3 scheme, making offenses have to make adjustments on the fly. These young men faced adversity each week, and grew as a team game after game. We appreciate all of the tremendous support we have received this year from students, faculty, administration and the Anahuac community win, lose or draw. Thank You! AHS Football Has Promising Future with Up & Coming Panthers The Junior Varsity Football team started the season with 3 impressive victories, with wins over Liberty, Hamshire, and Tarkington. Then the Panthers hit a small road block losing the next 4 games. They got back on track with a win at home over Port- Neches-Groves, followed by a tough loss to Hardin. But your JV Panthers clawed back to wrap up the season with an exceptional win against Nederland. The JV Panthers finished the season 5 5. The game most impressive was against Liberty, the team was down 8-0 at half and fought back to win Overall, for a team made up of a majority of freshmen, they are very scrappy and show the will to compete and for the most part, not quit. The future for the Anahuac Panthers looks very promising. Look for these guys to be promising Varsity candidates moving forward: Corenthos Hill, Bryan Wilpitz, Anthony Ramirez, Josh Hoskins, Tanner Fugere, Jaden Landry, Cameron Mayes, Jordan Semien, Chase Trapp, William Orozco, Caleb Moore and Mitchell Hargraves.

Cameron Bertrand 2015 All District Volleyball 2nd Team 2015 Academic All-District Volleyball Team Senior Madalyn Orozco Junior Cameron Bertrand Senior Ann-Marie Henry Senior Rebecca Medders Junior Sabrina Trahan Junior Madison Dunn Sophomore Haegan Ullrich These young ladies have maintained at 90 average or better. Congratulations, Ladies! The 7 th grade Middle School Cubs completed the season The Cubs could not have done it without our outstanding offensive performances. No matter where the Cubs were on the field, Ja- terran Williams would break off runs 30, 40, 60 or 80 yards with seeing only the end-zone in his mind. On defense, Logan Hill stands tall, intercepting footballs from the sky and returning them 90 yards for additional touchdowns. Even on special teams, Colby Matthews took the ball for 70 yards for a score. The Cubs ended the season with a memorable goal line stand that helped them seal the win in their last game. This team came together as a family with one train of thought! One team, one dream! With the heart of Panther, these young men showed they mean business, and were all looking for a challenge. Overall, it was a great season and we can t wait to see what the future holds for these future Panthers. Cross Country District & Regional The Panthers and Lady Panthers Cross Country teams closed out the regular season in Warren at the District Cross Country meet. The Lady Panthers finished second, qualifying the following ladies for a trip to Regionals at Sam Houston State University; Maricela Hernandez, Ana Gonzalez, Addison Hemphill, Ximena Valencia, Madalyn Orozco, Samantha Lopez and Rebecca Medders. Despite the odds of a full day of substantial rain for the Regional Cross Country meet, the Lady Panthers still competed on a high level. Our senior Lady Panther Cross Country girls have qualified for the Regional Meet all four years. The Varsity Boys competed well at the District Cross Country, but didn t qualify for Regionals. The Varsity Boys team members were: Omar DeLaCruz, Daniel Badillo, Jonathan O Banion, Blane Daugherty, Michael Hightower, Arturo Mares and Austin Hodges Cross Country Participants

3 Page 3 Although the season has come to an end, there are great positives that should be pointed out about the 8th grade Team Lady Cubs' 2015 Volleyball season. There was a rocky beginning with back-to-back losses at the beginning, however, the young ladies turned a corner and sparked great energy to propelled them forward in favor of more and more wins. The Lady Cubs participated in two tournaments; one was a learning experience at Liberty and the other was a 2nd place finish. As the season progressed, these young girls really learned how to work hard, communicate and stick together and overcome potential barriers. The Lady Cubs finished the season with 7 losses and 7 wins (including the two tournaments). These 8th graders without a reason to doubt will rise to the occasion as a Lady Panthers in their years to come. MS Cross Country The AMS Lady Cubs and Cubs cross country team closed out its season with an intra-squad meet. The guys and girls competed in a testy two-mile lap challenging them every step. Eighth grader Karissa Jircik won the Girls race finishing with a time of 15:32, and seventh grader Chase Herrington won the Boys race with a time of 13:43. This was one of the biggest groups of kids in a very long time who participated in our Middle School Cross Country program. Last year, the program started with only five kids. In the 2015 season, the program grew to 15 kids total. They competed in four meets (Liberty, Dayton, Anahuac, and Anahuac). The Cross Country team consisted of Graci Berry, Mally May, Breighana Lino, Jessey Staner, Karissa Jircik, Destiny Husband, Roselin Cabrera, Sandra Hernandez, Jessica Gonzalez, Chase Herrington, Daniel Moreno, Brady Bertrand, Mathew Chavez, Dylan Turner and Owen Stephenson. These student/athletes are very hard workers, and they ran everything that they were asked to run every day; with no complaints. I am very proud of this group of kids and am so excited to see what they can do as future runners for the Panthers, said Athletic Director Jason Speights.

4 Page 4 8th Grade Football Season Finale The Anahuac Cubs 8th grade football team hosted the Kountze Lions at Kyle White Stadium for their last game as Middle School Cubs. The Cubs were victorious with a final score of and making their record for the season. Leading scorer, with two touchdowns and adding the 2 point conversion each time was Teriyan Nyaribo. Tyrone Wilson also scored a touchdown for the Cubs and added two points giving the Cubs a score of 24 going into the 3rd quarter of period of play. Cubs Quarterback is Foster Kreuzer with a good working knowledge of the game and excellent leadership skills this young man will have many opportunities on the football field. Our defense held the Lions to just 14 points throughout the game with an interception by Jermichael Dunn, which was his fourth interception of the year. Defense played an outstanding game with linebackers Teriyan Nyaribo, Foster Kreuzer, and Jack Hampton, along with Edward Ramos worked hard and played with tremendous heart and skill. Defensive Corner backs Colby Storey and Logan Borne were both in top form, as they shut down the run on scats, sweeps and the option, as did out outside linebackers and safety positions. Logan Borne disallowed any passes thrown on his side, making him a true 'shut down corner'. Holding our defensive line this year were two great players sharing time at Nose Guard were David Wood and Torron Giacona. In the final quarter of the game, Logan Borne went around the end and ran 40 yards for the touchdown. The excellent blocking from Edward Ramos and Foster Kreuzer allowed Borne to break free and score. The extra point came when Tyrone Wilson gained the extra points making the score Anahuac Cubs 32 and the Kountze Lions 14. This group of student athletes will certainly excel as they move into their freshman year because they have a great work ethic and a winning spirit. On a personal note, I must say that Coach Michael Andrade had the opportunity to coach his young brother-in-law, David Wood and they had an excellent season together, said Coach John Borne. As for me, I have coached for 18 years and for the last two years I have had the chance to coach my grandson Logan Borne and it has been a career goal I had hoped for since he was born. Thank you to all of the fans that came to our games and know that your support makes all the difference. These young men are worthy of your support and they make our community proud with their efforts. 7th Grade Volleyball... The Anahuac Lady Cubs 7th grade Volleyball A team had a very successful first year. The girls ended the season with a 5-5 record, and competed in one tournament at Liberty where they finished 2nd place. Standout server of the year was Zoe Key who brought us home with the win on her powerful ace serves. The A team consisted of: Mally May, Mailey Sherman, Jamaya Kirkwood, Zoe Key, Ashlyn Smith, Sanaa Kingsberry, Sandra Hernandez, Reagan Richard, Graci Berry and Becca Henicke. The Anahuac Lady Cub 7th grade B team had a record of 2-5 and won their last two games toward the end of the season. We look forward to seeing these young ladies become even more successful in the 2016 season. Year of Growth The 2015 Volleyball season was a great year of learning and growth. Each and every player had to broaden their knowledge of the game in ways like playing new positions, learning new roles, and establishing new leadership. Returning Varsity members from the 2014 season Cameron Bertrand, Madison Dunn, Joyclyne Landry, Rebecca Medders, Anne- Marie Henry, Madalyn Orozco, and Jade Bradford were the forerunners to this new regime. New Varsity members, Alasia Lewis, Ivy Herrera, Haegan Ullrich, Sabrina Trahan, and Haley McDaniel, quickly adapted to the fast pace game and gave every effort to play the game they love to the best of their ability. The season record of 8-24 did not reflect the talent these girls possess. Many games that were a loss on our record were played very close and point by point. This is encouraging for the 2016 season, in that, only losing three seniors, Anne-Marie Henry, Madalyn Orozco, and Rebecca Medders, we will have nine returning Varsity players. One of these returning Varsity players was voted a member of the nd All-District Team Cameron Bertrand and Joyclyne Landry, another returning starter, who was voted to this team just as a freshman a few years back. A few girls will be playing club volleyball during the offseason and we look forward to seeing their hard work pay off next year. The future looks bright for Anahuac Lady Panther Volleyball!
