2 Lawrence North Student-Athletes of the Week Mya Parker (Basketball) and Robert Samuels (Wrestling) Seniors Mya Parker and Robert Samuels have been selected as this week s Lawrence North student-athletes of the week. Parker put up a career high 17 points and also grabbed 7 rebounds in the Wildcats loss to #2 North Central in the Marion County tournament. Samuels went 5-0 with 5 pins at the Calumet Invitational on Saturday, pushing his season record to Great job Mya and Robert!
3 Boys Basketball: The #6 Wildcats (3-1, 1-1 MIC) beat MIC and township rival Lawrence Central in front of a packed house, Kevin Easley had 18 points and 7 rebounds, while Antwaan Cushingberry put up 14 points and had 6 assists. Dexter Shouse (11 points, 5 rebounds) and Mike Saunders, Jr. (11 points, 2 steals) had a great second half, and Ra Kpedi (9 points) and Jared Hankins (5 points) were a force on defense for the Cats. It was a great night in the Keefer Gym! The team then traveled to Southport for the Tip Off Classic against #4 Ft. Wayne North, losing Easley led the team with 23 points. Cushingberry had 16, Shouse 10, Hankins 10, and Kpedi chipped in 9 with 9 boards. The Wildcats will travel to Guerin Catholic on Friday night. This will be an early start, as the JV team will tip off at 5:00pm with varsity to follow around 6:30pm. Pictures courtesy of Varsity Views and Mr. Penrose.

6 Mark your calendars: On December 30 th, the Wildcats will face # 8 Logansport in first game of the Hall of Fame Classic, with a second round game against either #20 Warsaw or #4 New Albany and Romeo Langford, the #2 ranked player in the nation for the class of Reduced LN All-Sport season passes and tickets to the Hall of Fame Classic are on sale now in the LN athletic office. A ticket to the Hall of Fame Classic is included with your purchase of an All-Sports pass!
7 Girls Basketball: The #6 Wildcats (6-3, 1-1 MIC) lost at #2 North Central in the opening round of the Marion County tournament, Mya Parker led the way for the Cats, putting up a career high 17 points and 7 rebounds. The girls look to get back on track with a week to get healthy. Next up for the team is a MIC game at Warren Central on Friday night, and then a long trip to East Chicago Central on Saturday. 8 Cheerleading: The Wildcat cheerleaders did a fantastic job getting the crowd fired up at the LN LC game! Great job, girls! They will be busy again this week, on the road with the Wildcats!
9 Swimming & Diving: The Wildcats took on the Noblesville Millers last week. The girls team swam strong but lost, Despite winning half the events, the Millers depth proved to be the difference. Winning for LN included Brooke Atkins, Claire Mouser, Edin Hall, Rebecca Fernandez, and Jazzy Kitt. Atkins and Kitt both won two individual events as well as being a part of two winning relays. For the boys, Noblesville beat the Wildcats There were many close races, many of those going to the Millers. Ben McAteer led the team with individual event victories in the 50 free and 100 back. The Wildcats will be competing in the Marion County Championships this Friday and Saturday downtown at the historic IU Natatorium.
10 Wrestling: The Wildcat wrestlers went 3-2 at the Calumet Invitational on Saturday. The team beat South Bend Riley (41-27), Crown Point (41-29), and Hanover Central (45-16). The Cats lost close matches to Lowell (30-39) and Westfield (26-34). Robert Samuels went 5-0 with 5 pins at 285 lbs. Samuels is now 14-1 this season. Dheontae Unseld went 5-0 at 132 lbs, Adrains Gardfrey was 4-1 at 138 lbs and Tahji Irving went 4-1 at 195 lbs. The Wildcats are now 11-5 on the year and will host the Marion County Championships this Saturday in the Keefer Gymnasium.
