1 Nate Broz Parma Senior Class of 1999 Broz was a three sport letter winner at PSH in football, basketball and tennis. A three-year starter in basketball and two-year starter in football, Nate shined on the gridiron for the Redmen. At quarterback, Nate led the Redmen to back to back 7-3 campaigns his Junior and Senior seasons. He received ALL- LEL honors both years and was selected Lake Erie League Most Valuable Player in Football in He left PSH as the school record holder in several categories including: most completions in a season and career and most passing yards in a season. His most passing touchdowns in a single game and season records still stand today. Ken Dabrowski Parma Senior Class of 1979 Dabrowski was a three sport letter winner for the Redmen in football, wrestling and baseball. In football, he was an Honorable Mention All-LEL selection. Dabrowski was awarded team Most Valuable Wrestler and All-LEL conference honors in wrestling. He was a Sectional and District tournament champion and the OHSAA state runner-up in wrestling in the 167 lbs. class in 1979.
2 Tom Demo Parma Senior Class of 1964 Demo was a three sport athlete for the Redmen earning multiple varsity letters in football, basketball and baseball. As a defensive back in football, he led the Lake Erie League in interceptions his senior season. In basketball he was selected as the Most Improved Player by his coaches. In baseball he was a two-year starter. He was selected as most athletic by his classmates in He continued his education and athletic career at Denison University where he earned twelve varsity letters in football, basketball and baseball. In football, he set numerous receiving records and earned all-conference honors. In basketball, Demo s Denison team won the conference championship and qualified for the NCAA tournament. A four- year starter in baseball, he was a.340 career hitter and also earned all-conference honors. He was inducted into the Denison University Athletic Hall of Fame in Demo had a long career as a teacher and coach. He has competed in marathons and has competed in many basketball competitions including the Senior Olympics. He was a part of 13 state championship senior teams and finished in the final four in the country twice. In masters basketball, he has been a member of 35 major tournament championships including 3 National Championships and 2 world championships. He is also a member of the Master s Basketball Hall of Fame in Jacksonville, Florida. Dr. Robert Rocky Ellis Parma Senior Class of 1993 Ellis was a standout runner for the Redmen earning four varsity letters in both cross-country and track. A 3x OHSAA state meet qualifier in cross country, he earned All-Ohio status in 1991 placing 13 th in the state. In track, he was also a 3x OHSAA state meet qualifier; twice in the 3200m and once in the 1600m. He continued his education and athletic career at the University of Cincinnati where he earned a combined seven letters in both sports. The team captain of the cross-country team, he was selected as team Most Valuable Runner for the Bearcats. He graduated from UC medical school and is currently an accomplished physician in Cincinnati.
3 Carl Filut Parma Senior Class of 1984 Filut was a stand out in football for the Redmen earning AllLEL honors. He continued his education and football career at West Liberty State University where he earned NAIA First Team All-American honors in He was selected First Team All-WVIAC in 1987 and Second team in He ranks amongst the best defensive players in West Liberty history where he is 2nd all-time in tackles in a single game and 4th alltime in tackles for a career. Ed Fortney Parma Senior Class of 1987 Fortney lettered in both golf and baseball for the Redmen. A standout in baseball, he earned AllConference honors. Fortney continued his education and baseball career at Cuyahoga Community College where he played two seasons and was selected for the OJCAC All-Star team. He then transferred to Point Park College. As the starting shortstop, his Point Park team set the NAIA record with 41 consecutive victories. He batted.377 avg., scored 58 runs, 48 RBI s and 22 stolen bases in 52 games. He then transferred to Coastal Carolina University. In 65 career games at Coastal, he had 65 hits in 217 at bats, a.300 batting average and had 25 stolen bases. He led the team in at bats and runs scored in His career at Coastal Carolina was highlighted by his walk-off single in the Big South Championship game which gave Coastal their first bid to the NCAA Baseball tournament.
4 Bill Gambino Parma Senior Class of 1959 Gambino earned three varsity letters in both basketball and baseball for the Redmen. A basketball standout, he was awarded Team Most Valuable Player and earned recognition as All-Lake Erie League, Cleveland Press AllScholastic and Honorable Mention All-Ohio for the season. Gambino continued his education and basketball career at Wichita State. Dominick Gruttadauria III Parma Senior Class of 1998 Gruttadauria was a three sport athlete at Parma; earning eight total varsity letters. A two-year starter and honorable mention all-conference selection in football he was sidelined for half of his senior season in football and his entire senior season in basketball due to injury. Gruttadauria excelled in baseball for the Redmen. A three time all-conference selection, he was named to the Plain Dealer All-Star team in both his junior and senior seasons and was named All-Ohio as a centerfielder in Collegiately, Gruttadauria earned four varsity letters at three different colleges; Cleveland State University, Cuyahoga Community College and Missouri Baptist University. At Missouri Baptist, he was a two time all-conference selection, an honorable mention and 1st team All-Region selection and an honorable mention All-American selection in 2002.
5 Tim Hahn Parma Senior Class of 1978 Hahn was a standout in football, basketball and baseball for the Redmen earning two varsity letters in each sport. As quarterback of the football team, Hahn earned Honorable Mention All-LEL honors and was recognized on the Plain Dealer Dream Team and as a Press Star. In basketball, Hahn broke the single season scoring record set by Ernie Lees by scoring 453 points. He was recognized as All-LEL, All -Sun Post and to the PD Dream team and Press Star team. In baseball, Hahn was awarded team MVP and was selected All-LEL two times and to the PD All-Scholastic team his senior season. He continued his education and baseball career at Midwestern State University in Texas where he was All-District. Jennifer Kulaga Paull Parma Senior Class of 1991 Kulaga was a standout in volleyball, basketball and track for the Redmen earning seven total letters. She was recognized as Honorable Mention All-LEL in volleyball. In track, Kulaga was awarded team MVP in both her Junior and Senior seasons and was an All-LEL selection multiple times in her career. She also set multiple school records and earned All- Ohio honors placing 3 rd in the OHSAA state track meet in the high Jump in Kulaga received the P.A.A.F Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award. Kulaga continued her education and track career at Ashland University and eventually earned her doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Southern California.
6 Nick Loya Parma Senior Class of 1994 Loya was a three sport standout for the Redmen. A rare fourtime letter winner in football, he passed for over 2,000 yards during his career. A two-year letterman in basketball, Loya scored over 600 points and secured over 400 rebounds during his career. In his Senior season, he averaged 20 points per game with 12 rebounds for the LEL Champion Redmen. He was selected All-LEL and Conference Most Valuable Player for his outstanding play. Loya was also selected Third team All- District and played in two area Basketball All-Star games. A three-time letterman in baseball, he earned All-Conference honors and was one of the dominant pitchers of his era recording 128 strikeouts in 103 innings. He was selected to play in the East-West Baseball All-Star game. Loya received a baseball scholarship to Cleveland State University. Loya earned two varsity letters at CSU. A few of the highlights of his Viking career were pitching against The Ohio State University Buckeyes and pitching two games at Jacobs Field, the home of the Cleveland Indians. Upon graduation, Loya began his teaching and coaching career in the PCSD where he has been an integral part of the PSH football and basketball programs as their middle school coach. Tim Malley Parma Senior Class of 1977 Malley was a standout lineman on the Redmen football team. His efforts earned him several accolades including All-LEL recognition, All-Greater Cleveland honors and being selected for the Plain Dealer Dream Team and Cleveland Press Stars Player of the Week. He was selected to play in the All-Ohio North-South Football game and was named 2 nd team All-Ohio. He continued his education and football career at the University of Dayton where he earned four letters and was a member of their 1980 National Championship team. He later became a police officer in the city of Lakewood and is currently the Chief of Police. He has also been a long time soccer official in the area.
7 Ed Malusky Parma Ridge Class of 1930 Malusky was a two-year starter on both sides of the ball for Parma. During the ironman days of football, he played 40 straight full quarters with no break. He was selected to the 1929 Cuyahoga County Class A All-Star football team at tackle. Malusky also lettered varsity in wrestling. Doug Meyers Parma Senior Class of 2003 Meyers was a standout in football and baseball for the Redmen earning three varsity letters in each sport. As Quarterback of the Redmen football team, Meyers was a 2x All Conference selection while setting the school record for pass completions in a season and career. In baseball, Meyers was a 3x All Conference selection and was named LEL Most Valuable Player leading the Redmen to the Conference title. He was selected for the East-West All Star game in both sports. Meyers continued his education and football career at John Carroll University. Meyers returned to Parma Sr. where he currently teaches social studies and coaches football.
8 Annie Mielke Bir Parma Senior Class of 1992 Tim Miker Parma Senior Class of 2008 Mielke was a four sport letter winner for the Redmen earning All-Conference honors in volleyball and softball. She was a member of LEL Championship teams in basketball and softball. Mielke continued her education and softball career at Baldwin-Wallace University where she earned four letters. A two-time First Team All-OAC selection at shortstop, Mielke ranks amongst the all-time leaders at BW in numerous statistical categories including most hits in a season and in a career, most runs scored in a season and a career, Most triples in a season and career, Most RBI s in a season and a career and most stolen bases in a career. In both 1995 and 1996, Mielke was selected as First Team shortstop on the Louisville Slugger/NSCA Division III All Central Region team and was selected twice as Honorable Mention NCAA Division III All-American. After college, Mielke has played on three CO-ED national champion softball teams. Miker was a standout in football and baseball for the Redmen. In football, he earned 2nd team All-Ohio honors as a running back. He was selected as conference MVP his senior year after leading the Redmen to a 7-3 finish and rushing for 1,526 yards and 22 rushing Touchdowns. His efforts earned him Plain Dealer Player of the Week, team MVP, All-Sun Post, All-Plain Dealer team, All-Conference, All-District and All-State honors. His junior season, he rushed for 1,244 yards and scored 15 touchdowns rushing and 1 receiving. Having eclipsed the 1,000 yard rushing mark both his junior and senior seasons, Miker graduated as one of the most prolific running backs in our school s history. He left PSH setting 5 school records; Most rushing yards in season, Most touchdowns scored, avg yards per carry, avg yards per game, and most pts scored in a season. He was all conference both his Junior and Senior years and an East-West all-star. In baseball, Miker was also a 2x All Conference selection and Team MVP. He left several school records on the diamond that include: Most walks in a season, Most Stolen bases in season and Most hits in a season, runs scored, at bats, triples. Miker was awarded the Mr. Redmen-PSH Male Athlete of the Year Award. Miker continued his education at Baldwin-Wallace University where he earned 3 varsity letters while rushing for 1,404 yards and 17 touchdowns during his Yellow Jacket career. He received the B-W Bob Packard Most Valuable Back Award in 2009.
9 Mike Mural Jr. Parma Schaaf Class of 1949 Mural earned three total varsity letters in golf and track at Parma. He was a medalist who qualified for the OHSAA State golf championships with his Parma High team. After a standout career as a Redmen golfer, Mural received a scholarship to The Ohio State University where he earned four letters and was a two-year starter and member of the 1954 Big Ten championship team. Mural then served our country in the US Army seeing action in North Korea in A PGA Member for over 50 years, he has been an accomplished golf professional having played in and winning numerous PGA events over the years. Justin Roth Parma Senior Class of 2010 Roth earned four varsity letters in basketball for the Redmen. He is the most prolific scorer in the history of Parma Sr. High and the Parma City School District. Roth holds both all-time career scoring records. A 3x team MVP and 3x All-Conference selection, he led Parma to a NOC Championship his senior season and was selected as conference Most Valuable Player. His Junior season he led the Redmen to a District runner up finish. Roth was selected as All-Sun Post, All-District, and All-Ohio Special Mention. He continued his education at Lake Erie College where he earned two varsity letters before transferring to Baldwin Wallace. At BW, he lettered two years and led the Ohio Athletic Conference in scoring his senior year. Roth was selected as OAC Player of the Week, first team All-OAC, second team NABC Division III and third team D3hoops.com All-Great Lakes Region teams.
10 Charles Chuck Sanfilippo Parma Senior Class of 1964 Sanfiippo earned three varsity letters in wrestling at Parma. He was a two time all-conference selection in wrestling for the Redmen. In 1964, he was the 103 lbs. state runner up, having placed 2nd at the OHSAA State Wrestling Tournament. He was also selected as the PSH Most Valuable Wrestler that year as well after finishing undefeated during the regular season. After graduation, he wrestled at Baldwin-Wallace and eventually coached and officiated wrestling for many years in the area. Randy Volk Parma Senior Class of 1973 Volk was a standout in cross-country and track for the Redmen. A 3x state qualifier in cross -country as an individual and also a state qualifying team member. Volk placed 5th in the OHSAA State Track Meet in the two mile run in He was also a meet champion in the 1500 and mile run at the 1973 OATCCC Ohio Classic All-Star Track Meet comprised of the top runners in the state. Volk still holds numerous track and cross-country school records.
