3 Game by Game Results Alden Pasche H o u s t o n s f i r s t coach, Alden Pasche led the Cougars to a record and f o u r c o n f e r e n c e championships in his 11 seasons as head coach. UH won league titles in the Lone Star, Gulf Coast and Missouri Valley Conferences. Pasche also guided Houston to the 1956 NCAA Tournament. 5 Game by Game Results Guy Lewis After leading Houston to its first two conference championships as a player and first NCAA Tournament as an assistant coach, Guy Lewis was named UH s head coach before the season. During the next 30 seasons, Lewis compiled a career record, and ended his career with 27 consecutive seasons without a losing record. He also led Houston to two NCAA championship games, one NIT championship game, five NCAA Final Fours, 14 NCAA Tournament berths, five Southwest Conference Tournament Championships and three SWC regular season crowns. Lewis also was named National Coach of the Year in 1968 and 1983 and the Texas Coach of the Year four times.
