This season marks only the seventh losing season in Fever franchise history, and only the third over the past 13 seasons. After improving their record to 7-7 with a road win at Chicago on June 28, the Fever have lost 17 of their past 19 games. Indiana has lost its last six outings, its third losing streak of at least five games over the past 19 outings. The Fever have not lost seven straight games since they lost seven in a row during the early stages of the 2013 regular season. Indiana has dropped its last seven road games, matching the longest road losing streak in franchise history previously set during the 2004 season. This season marks Indiana s worst regular season road record in franchise history. The Fever went 3-13 away from home during the 2001 regular season, the team s second season of existence. Over her last 11 games, Jazmon Gwathmey has averaged 9.6 points and 3.1 rebounds per game while collecting 17 assists, 11 steals and 12 blocks over that span. Entering this season, there were only 17 times in which an individual Fever player scored 30 or more points in the history of the franchise. Indiana saw two players score at least 31 points in back-to-back outings on August 6 and 8. Candice Dupree fell one-point shy of her career high as she set a season best with 31 points in Indiana s home win over the first-place Minnesota Lynx on Aug. 6. Dupree set a career high as she made 15 field goals on 21 attempts, and led the Fever with nine rebounds in the victory. In the next game at New York on Aug. 8, guard Erica Wheeler set a career high with 33 points, tying Shavonte Zellous 33-point outing against Tulsa on June 25, 2014 for the second-highest scoring output in franchise history. Wheeler shot a career-best 12-for-18 from the field and 7-for-11 from three-point range. She tied Katie Douglas franchise record set against Atlanta on Aug. 18, 2012, for the most three-pointers made in a game in team history. Wheeler finished with a team-high 23 points Saturday at Atlanta. She has now scored 20 or more points five times this season, a mark she had only reached once in her WNBA career entering this season. Wheeler needs nine more assists to pass Stephanie White (225) into 10th place in franchise history. Dupree currently ranks among the WNBA s top 25 in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage, free throw percentage and minutes played. Now a six-time WNBA All-Star in her 11- year career, Dupree leads the Fever in scoring this season, and ranks in the league s top 30 in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage, free throw percentage, steals, blocks and minutes played. Dupree fell one point shy of her career high as she finished with 31 points on a career-best 15-for-21 shooting in the win over first-place MInnesota on Aug. 6. Her scoring outburst marked the second 30+ point outing of her WNBA career and the 18th in Fever franchise history. Now with 2,537 career rebounds, Dupree needs ranks ninth in WNBA history in career rebounds. She passed Yolanda Griffith (2,444) into 10th place and Lauren Jackson (2,447) into ninth place with eight rebounds in the win at Chicago, 6/18. Dupree was named a WNBA All-Star for the sixth time in her career as she was selected as a reserve for the Eastern Conference team. Dupree joins Cappie Pondexter and Tina Thompson as the only three players in WNBA history to be selected as an All-Star while representing three different teams. Dupree represented the East in 2006, 2007 and 2009 as a member of the Chicago Sky and was on the West squad in 2014 and 2015 with the Phoenix Mercury. MOE-JO WORKING Battling injuries throughout the early portion of the schedule, Shenise Moe Johnson found her groove on the offensive end late in the 2016 season. Johnson scored in double figures in 11 of the last 15 games, including a career-high with 23 points on 9-for-13 shooting at Connecticut, 9/13. Shooting 93.8 percent from the foul line last season, Johnson tied Stephanie White s 2003 franchise record for highest free throw percentage in a season. She entered the season - her third with Indiana - as the Fever franchise leader in career free throw percentage (.863) amongst players who have played at least two seasons and attempted at least 90 free throws. She also ranks third in career three-point percentage at 38.6 percent from long range. Johnson set a new career high in the season opener at Seattle, 5/14, as she finished with 24 points on 9-for-15 shooting from the field. She also posted team highs with eight rebounds, four assists and three steals. Johnson ranked second in the WNBA this season in free throw percentage and eighth in steals before suffering a season-ending knee injury during practice on July 11. She has made 77 of her past 79 free throws dating back to her streak last season starting on July 15, WHEELS UP After scoring in double figures only once over Indiana s first seven games, Erica Wheeler picked it up as Briann January exited the game against Phoenix on June 7 with an Achilles injury. Wheeler subbed into the game against the Mercury and finished with a new career high of 24 points in relief. She passed that mark on Aug. 8 at New York as she tied the second-highest scoring total in franchise history with 33 polnts on a career-best 12-for-18 shooting. She also tied a single-game franchise record with seven three-pointers. She is averaging 13.3 points and 4.5 assists per game since June 7. Wheeler has posted five games of 20 or more points this season, a feat she had only accomplished once entering this season. MITCHELL S MARK After her 2016 season in which she became only the third Fever player in franchise history to be named to the WNBA All-Rookie Team, Tiffany Mitchell tipped off her sophomore campaign with seven double-figure scoring outings in her first nine games. Before suffering a season-ending knee injury, Mitchell ranked fourth on the team with 10.3 points per game and fourth in the WNBA in free throw percentage at 92.2 percent on the year. Mitchell set the Fever franchise record as she sank 43 consecutive free throw attempts from May 20-June 28 this season, passing her own record of 42 straight makes set during her rookie season in Mitchell has tied her career-bests by shooting 8-for-8 from the foul line three times this season. ACE IN THE HOLE Now in her third season with the Fever, Natalie Achonwa ranks second in Fever history in career field goal percentage among players who have played at least two seasons with the Fever. She is currently shooting 56.0 percent from the field this season. Achonwa has scored in double figures in eight games this season, including five times off the bench. She finished with a career-high 19 points on 8-for-10 shooting against the Liberty on July 28. SLOW STARTS Historically, the Fever have gotten off to slow starts to begin the season, no different than this year s 4-6 beginning to the regular season. The Fever have held an under.500 record after the first 10 games in three of the past four seasons before rallying to make the playoffs in each campaign. Indiana lost its first three games and six of its first nine in the 2015 season before bouncing back to post a regular season record and reach the WNBA Finals for the third time in franchise history.
