The Bison improved to 7-5 overall and 1-0 in the Patriot League with a victory in the conference opener for both teams. The Bison out-rebounded the Mids and finished with a advantage in points off the bench. Kyi English came off the bench to score nine points on three 3-pointers. Slagus scored 17 of her points in the second half, including 13 straight Bucknell points between the third and fourth quarters. She had two layups in the final 1:47 of the third to help the Bison take a lead. She then scored nine points on a 3-point play and two 3-pointers over three straight possessions in the opening 2:08 of the fourth to put the Bison up Bucknell scored 29 points through the first three quarters before erupting for 22 in the fourth. About the Black Knights Army West Point is 10-1 overall and 1-0 in the Patriot League following a seven-game winning streak, including a win over Lehigh in its conference opener. The Black Knights only loss came at then-no. 14 Duke, Their list of wins is highlighted by a victory at home over Albany, who was receiving votes in the national poll and is currently 40th in the RPI. Senior Kelsey Minato has earned two Patriot League Player of the Year awards and is the program s all-time leading scorer with 2,061 points. She leads the conference in scoring (22.5), 3-pointers made (3.0) and assist/turnover ratio (2.5). Army West Point has the top scoring defense in the league, allowing 50.5 points per game. The Bison rank first in the Patriot League and 32nd in the country with a +8.8 rebounding margin. The number is even more impressive when you consider that one of the team s seven games was at No. 3 Notre Dame, which Bucknell out-rebounded Jacquie Klotz and Claire DeBoer rank second and fourth in the Patriot League in rebounding. Klotz averages 10.4 boards, with 108 of her 125 total rebounds coming on the defensive end. DeBoer averages 8.8 with an impressive 43 of her 106 total rebounds coming on offense. Klotz ranks 21st nationally and third among guards in rebounds per game. Bucknell has won the rebounding battle in 38 of its past 42 games, including 11 of its 12 games this season. Looking Ahead The Bison travel to play American on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The Eagles are the defending champions in the Patriot League. Bison Earn Weekly Awards Bucknell has earned multiple weekly awards from the Patriot League this season, as well as multiple awards from the Bison athletics department. The most recent was Jacquie Klotz, who was named the Patriot League Player of the Week after tallying 25 points - 21 in the first half - nine rebounds and five assists despite sitting out the fourth quarter in an win over Delaware on Sunday, Dec Weekly Awards Claire DeBoer Bison Athlete of the Week on Nov. 30 after averaging 21.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in games against Binghamton and Canisius Kyi English Patriot League Rookie of the Week on Dec. 7 after averaging 10.5 points and 1.5 assists in games against Youngstown State and Fairleigh Dickinson. She tallied a career-high 13 points in the win over the Knights. Jacquie Klotz Patriot League Player of the Week and Bison Athlete of the Week on Nov. 23 after a 33-point, 12-rebound performance in a win over Manhattan Patriot League Player of the Week on Nov. 21 after finishing with 25 points, nine rebounds and five assists in a win over Delaware. Kaitlyn Slagus Named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week on Nov. 23 after scoring a career-high 11 points in a win over Binghamton. 3-Point Records Bucknell has set the program record for single-season 3-pointers in back-to-back seasons. The Bison set the mark with pointers in the season, and then topped that by one with 151 last year. This year s team has 71 3-pointers through 12 games, putting it ahead of the pace set in each of the past two seasons. The Bison had 62 treys through 12 games of the season and 45 during that stretch in the season. Klotz s Big Game Jacquie Klotz s performance against Manhattan was one for the Bucknell record books. No player in program history had posted a double-double of at least 33 points and 19 rebounds.
