3 EXCEL SHEET INSTRUCTIONS FOR KHSAA REGIONAL TOURNAMENT - TEAM DUTIES SUMMARY STATEMENT Please refer t the Kentucky High Schl Athletic Assciatin Handbk rules and regulatins gverning Bwling Yu shuld familiarize yurself with these rules fund in the KHSAA Cmpetitin Rules REFERENCE TO TEAM ALIGNMENT If any team desires t enter cmpetitrs and that schl is nt listed n the current Bwling alignment list f teams, cntact the Assciatin ffice prir t accepting the entry Only thse schls n that list are eligible t enter unless apprved by the KHSAA ffice ALLOWABLE COMPETITION DATES The Reginal Bwling turnament dates are Mnday, January 22, 2018 thrugh Saturday, February 3, 2018 If yu have nt already been cntacted by the reginal hst schl, please see the list f reginal managers lcated n the website The dates, times and lcatins fr yur reginal turnament site can be fund n the KHSAA website under Reginal Managers Listing PRE-TOURNAMENT RESPONSIBILITIES Send t all schls in yur regin n hw t enter the reginal turnament Lane assignments shall be drawn ahead f time and sent electrnically t the caches befre arriving at the reginal turnament Arrival and warm-up times will be designated by the reginal manager Cntact security and ther utside prviders/vendrs and ensure that all ther pre-turnament functins are cmplete Ensure yu have made enugh cpies f the Bwling Frms 120, 121 and 122 fr the scre sheets as well as BW 118 fr any unified bwlers cmpeting in yur regin Check with all schls within yur regin t see if they have entries fr unified/adapted/ambulatry divisin Ntify Sarah Bridenbaugh at the KHSAA immediately if yur regin has unified/adapted/ambulatry entries s medals/awards can be sent t yur lcatin in time fr the turnament INSTRUCTIONS FOR TOURNAMENT ENTRY BY TEAMS/INDIVIDUALS The twelve (12) persn Pstseasn rster shuld be finalized n the KHSAA schl subdmain tw weeks prir t the reginal turnament The team entry shuld be turned in t the reginal manager fur (4) days befre the turnament date fr bth the team and the singles turnaments Please use BW110 in rder t enter teams/singles/unified int yur reginal turnament A link t BW110 can be fund at the end f this dcument The first eight cmpetitrs shall be designated in rder and n each lane This will allw the center t be ready fr cmpetitin All teams wh have declared a team t the KHSAA by the tw-week deadline are eligible t participate in the reginal turnament Fr singles, a cach shall designate up t fur (4) girls and up t fur (4) bys t participate in the reginal singles cmpetitin N mre than twelve (12) players may be in unifrm fr any ne turnament game Additinal squad members shall nt be allwed t participate in warm-up exercises r be in the pit at any time during the turnament Unified Rsters must be submitted tw weeks prir t the reginal turnament 2018 KHSAA Bwling Reginal Instructins - 2

4 Unified rsters can be upladed t the KHSAA schl database Adapted/Ambulatry athletes shall be sent separately t the regin manager and t Sarah Bridenbaugh at the KHSAA ROSTER REQUIREMENTS AND SUBSTITUTIONS The nly revisin allwed after final rsters have been submitted will be t crrect a dcumented clerical errr as apprved by the Cmmissiner Any player whse name is n the fficial rster may be substituted n a team prir t the time f the draw fr the regin turnament After the draw is final, the regin turnament manager may allw a substitutin if the riginal entry is prevented frm participating due t circumstances arising frm injury/illness N advantage may be gained by a substitutin r it will nt be permitted Players shall participate in regin turnament play t be eligible fr the state turnament A schl is nt required t have the number f cmpetitrs t cnstitute a team, in rder t enter singles int the singles cmpetitin CLARIFICATION ON SUBSTITUTIONS DURING BAKER GAMES Substitutins during baker games are allwed A substitutin can ccur between r during frames Once a player has been substituted fr they may nt re-enter during that baker game UNIFIED ROSTERS Unified Bwling rsters must be entered int the KHSAA schl subdmain under Unified Bwling Please see the Unified page n the Bwling website t see qualificatins fr entering int the Unified divisin Unified bwlers must be in pairs (ne partner athlete/ne special athlete) The special athlete in the unified divisin may nt be a participant in the singles r team event at the reginal (partner athletes may be a member f the team) ADAPTED ROSTERS Adapted bwling is fr students with physical disabilities r in a wheelchair All entries must be submitted t Sarah Bridenbaugh at the KHSAA ffice fr reginal cmpetitin AMBULATORY ROSTERS Ambulatry bwling is fr students with physical disabilities nt in a wheelchair (amputee, blind, etc.) wh may require sme assistance (ramp, adapted ball, etc.) r an assistant in this divisin All entries must be submitted t Sarah Bridenbaugh at the KHSAA ffice fr reginal cmpetitin PROCEDURE FOR REVISIONS OF ENTRIES/ROSTERS Only in the case f dcumented medical emergency can a deadline be waived r a substitutin be allwed Each manager is respnsible fr the frwarding f the entries fr the regin turnament t all cmpeting teams Any cntestant whse name is n the twelve (12) persn entry list may be a member f a qualifying team r declared fr the State Turnament fr a qualifying team Substitutes fr the state turnament are nt allwed PRE-TOURNAMENT MEETING AND MODEL AGENDA Call t rder Designate smene t take minutes Discuss future sites Reviews site selectin plan and ensure accuracy fr future regin turnaments Cmplete site selectin plan Frm GE72 (send t KHSAA immediately fllwing meeting) Discuss turnament expenses (majrity apprval required) PA, fficial screr, stats 2018 KHSAA Bwling Reginal Instructins - 3

5 Security (must have plan in place) Medical Other Cnduct draw/seed placement Cpy draw/bracket t all teams PROCEDURES FOR FUTURE REGION SITES The reginal manager shuld review the site selectin schedule with all schls in the regin A cpy f all current listings are n the KHSAA website If changes r crrectins are made t the reginal turnament site selectin plan, please use KHSAA Frm GE58, which is available n the KHSAA website, and return it t the KHSAA immediately fllwing the meeting Please be sure t cmplete this step s future sites are recmmended t the KHSAA ffice All sites shall cmply with NFHS rules and requirements and any deviatins t the standards and specificatins are t be apprved by the Bard f Cntrl Hst sites shuld be members f the Bwling Prprietrs Assciatin f America (BPAA) and be able t accmmdate t the needs f the Unified, Adapted and Ambulatry bwlers FORMAT OF EVENT Each reginal manager shall set the time schedule while cperating with the schls invlved The reginal manager needs t ensure the hst alley can accmmdate the size and needs f yur regin (number f lanes, ramps fr unified/adapted, etc.) Each regin will cnduct the turnament and immediately send results t the KHSAA ffice (additinal directins later in this dcument) TEAM FORMAT Teams will bwl ne game with tw grups f fur bwlers, drpping the lw scre n each lane That six bwler ttal will be used t seed the team int a bracket The team will then bwl whichever team they are seeded t bwl in a match A match will cnsist f baker games, the first team t win three games will be the winner The winner will advance t the next rund, runds will cntinue until a winner and runner-up are established Regin winners and runners-up will advance t the state turnament SINGLES FORMAT Individuals shall be entered t the regin by designatin f their cach, each schl may enter their tp fur (4) individual bwlers in each f the bys and girls singles cmpetitins Bwlers shall bwl three (3) games and the tp eight will advance t the semifinals where they will bwl tw additinal games At the cnclusin f the tw semifinal rund games their five (5) game ttal will be used t determine the tp fur bwlers wh will be seeded int a stepladder final This will als establish the fifth thrugh eighth place finisher Frm that pint n, the tp fur bwlers will bwl a ladder turnament until a champin is determined The stepladder final will establish the first thrugh furth place finishers The tp fur bwlers will advance t the state turnament UNIFIED FORMAT Partners must participate in a single game while alternating frames Partner athletes must bwl frames 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 Special athletes must bwl frames 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 The first baker game will be used t seed teams and teams will be placed in a bracket Once bracket is determined, the Baker frmat will cntinue 2018 KHSAA Bwling Reginal Instructins - 4

6 If there are any ties in the seed game, the tiebreaker will start at frame 10 and mve back until the tie can be brken Fr example, if yu have a tie, see which unified pair had the higher scre in frame 10 If it is still tied, mve t frame 9 and s n until yu can break the tie The unified pair that wins the baker game will advance t the next rund Runds will cntinue until a winner, runner-up and semifinalists are established The tp tw unified pairs in each regin will advance t state The same frmat will be utilized at the state cmpetitin Unified is a nn-scring divisin ADAPTED FORMAT Adapted bwlers will bwl tw (2) games and that tw game ttal will determine the tp fur (4) The tp fur (4) cmpetitrs will be placed in a stepladder frmat until a champin and runner-up are determined The champin and runner-up will advance t the state turnament Adapted bwling is a nn-scring divisin AMBULATORY FORMAT Ambulatry bwlers will bwl tw (2) games and that tw game ttal will determine the tp fur (4) The tp fur (4) cmpetitrs will be placed in a stepladder frmat until a champin and runner-up are determined The champin and runner-up will advance t the state turnament Ambulatry bwling is a nn-scring divisin POINTS OF EMPHASIS OIL PATTERNS The 2018 Reginal Bwling turnament il pattern fr singles/unified/adapted cmpetitin shall be Sunset Strip The 2018 Reginal Bwling turnament il pattern fr team cmpetitin shall be Beaten Path All regins will utilize these patterns There is n explicit r implied restrictin n the use f these il patterns during the regular seasn The 2018 KHSAA State Bwling Turnament will als have a selected il pattern and a clr cpy f the 2018 il pattern will be available fr caches/athletes at the check-in desk upn arrival at the state turnament LANE COURTESY There shall be nly a ne (1) lane curtesy during the cmpetitin regardless f what rules yu have used at ther matches r turnaments Teams fund in vilatin will be given a warning n first cmplaint and will be made t take duble gutter fr an entire frame (individual games r baker) n a secnd ffense NOISE While it is acceptable t cheer, all players, caches and fans are t uphld gd sprtsmanship in regards t the ther teams N nise making devices will be allwed in the center and will be taken away if fund Negative cheers made twards the ppsitin are nt allwed and teams ding s face disqualificatin Please warn fans that they may nt make negative chants r cheers geared twards the ppnent r yur team may face penalty Cheers/chants shuld be quick s as t nt delay the match and nce the ther team has stepped up n the apprach, all shuld withdraw frm starting any new chants/cheer When the ther team is cheering/chanting, bwlers shuld be reminded t take their time and nt jump up n the apprach 2018 KHSAA Bwling Reginal Instructins - 5

7 BOWLING BALLS Bwlers are welcme t bring as many balls as they wish, hwever, be mindful that bags and balls can cause fire cde issues All balls shuld be kept ut f walk ways and under the seats in the bwler s area r under the bleachers as t allw fr peple t mve thrughut the center safely There must be sufficient rm fr all participants bwling balls n the return Any balls with inapprpriate wrds, lgs r pictures are nt allwed t be used in warm-up r in cmpetitin FOUL LIGHT ISSUE Ful lights will be checked befre the start f cmpetitin, hwever if there is disagreement, the turnament fficial will make the final ruling The ful lights will again be checked and if they are fund t be in wrking cnditin the scre will cunt PIN FALL ISSUES In the case f a cntrversy n pin fall, please find a turnament fficial Once the machine picks up pins, the cunt is fficial If a standing pin is kncked ver, that pin must be crrected befre the bwler cntinues If a bwler shts a spare and a deadwd (pin in the gutter) is n the lane, that sht by rule is a ful and the bwler receives a 0 Please call fr a center emplyee r turnament fficial t clear all deadwds D nt g dwn the lanes t clear any deadwd r retrieve any bwling equipment TIE BREAKING PROCEDURE Fr 4th place - the tiebreaker will start at the 10th frame frm game five (5) and mve back until the tie can be brken. Lane chice in the stepladder match play games during the singles event shall be awarded t the individual with the higher seed All ther tie breaking prcedures can be fund in the cmpetitin rules PRACTICE PAIR If available, yur regin may have an extra lane fr practice This allws fr yur bwlers nt in the lineup t stay warm Teams may nly have 12 bwlers n the rster s nly fur (4) bwlers frm each team may bwl n the practice pair If a bwler is substituted in a game, the bwler taken ut may bwl n the practice lanes BYLAW 22 REMINDER Yu are reminded that KHSAA Bylaw 22 requires a member f the faculty f the schl t be present alng with any student-athlete wh is representing a member schl Please see Bylaw 22 in the KHSAA Handbk if yu have any questins MEDIA MERCHANDISE, TRADEMARK AND MEDIA RIGHTS AND USE OF MARKS The intellectual prperty, crprate, bradcasting and media rights t the pstseasn runds prir t the state finals belng exclusively t the KHSAA, including titling agreements and spnsrships N member schl can sign an exclusive agreement fr a pstseasn rund (district, regin, sub-sectin, sectin) withut agreement between the schls and apprval f the KHSAA Office including full cmpliance with the restrictins f the NFHS Netwrk and the KHSAA participatin in the netwrk At all levels f cmpetitin during pstseasn play, cntrl f media access and lcatin at thse cntests is with the KHSAA In general, the management f thse rights may be assigned t the manager at the hst KHSAA member schl fr the district, reginal and sectinal (semi-state) cmpetitin 2018 KHSAA Bwling Reginal Instructins - 6

8 At all levels f cmpetitin, including district, reginal, sectinal, and state cmpetitin in KHSAA spnsred turnaments and meets, managers are encuraged t make allwances fr members f the televisin media t tape the cntests at n charge t the media utlet, as lng as the taping is fr the sle purpse f newscast highlights Entities desiring t tape the cntest fr delayed rebradcast shall have the permissin f the event manager At the discretin f the event manager, and if space is available and if such taping des nt vilate existing, acknwledged, written cpyright prtectin r intellectual prperty agreements, participating teams in KHSAA events shall be allwed space, fr the purpse f recrding the cntest Such bradcast may nt be re-bradcast in any frm including internet and scial media If space is deemed t be available, the turnament manager has the right t designate a specific area fr the purpse f taping, and allw taping nly in that area It shall be slely the determinatin f the event manager as t space availability If the meet manager deems that space is available, each participating schl chsing t tape r film is required t sign a waiver indicating that the Assciatin shall be held blameless fr any and all liability t thse parties invlved in the taping, and that the schl shall make n cpies f the tape r film NFHS NETWORK INFORMATION AND MEDIA RESTRICTIONS The Cmmissiner is the manager f all runds f ther champinship play, but in accrdance with adpted Cmpetitin Rules, may designate a manager t assist at the lcal level N web streaming may be apprved fr any utlet withut the payment f the requisite fee as mandated by the KHSAA/NFHS Netwrk agreement, with the sle exceptin f a waiver fr thse schls participating in the Schl Bradcast Prgram f the NFHS Netwrk The fee schedule will be published annually by the Cmmissiner s ffice EVENT MERCHANDISE TeamIp is the exclusive vendr f champinship apparel N utside merchandise representative f the event may be prduced by any ther entity and sld r distributed inside the playing facility fr the reginal turnament KHSAA Reginal Champinship apparel is available fr each reginal site if desired, and can be arranged by cntacting TeamIP r Sarah Bridenbaugh (sbridenbaugh@khsaa.rg) t sell reginal champinship apparel at yur event BOWLING ALLEY SPECIFICATIONS All sites shall cmply with NFHS rules and requirements and any standards and specificatins are t be apprved by the Bard f Cntrl Hst sites shuld be members f the Bwling Prprietrs Assciatin f America (BPAA) and be able t accmmdate t the needs f the Unified, Adapted, and Ambulatry bwlers PROCEDURE FOR GETTING TOURNAMENT OFFICIALS The turnament fficial shall be intrduced at the caches meeting and shall settle any disputes abut bwling rules and scring prcedures This persn will likely be the bwling center liaisn whm will assist the hst schl manager with the bwling aspects f the turnament TROPHIES AND AWARDS Reginal Trphies are shipped directly t the hst schl frm Riherds.cm f Smiths Grve, KY Open trphy bxes immediately and inspect them, and reprt any breakage r missing items directly t the cmpany (Riherd s Medal and Trphy Cmpany at r at khsaa@riherds.cm) Trphies are t be paid fr by the Turnament Manager n behalf f the turnament 2018 KHSAA Bwling Reginal Instructins - 7

9 The ttal cst fr these items is $ per regin/per gender and yur package shuld cnsist f the fllwing: Regin Champin Team Trphy Regin Runner-up Team Trphy Individual Champin Medal Individual 2nd 4th Place Medals The KHSAA and Special Olympics f Kentucky (SOKY) will be spnsring the Unified/Adapted/Ambulatry awards at the reginal turnaments (these awards will arrive separately). The fllwing awards will be presented if there are enugh entries int each regin: Unified Pairs (ne partner athlete, ne special athlete) 1st thrugh 4th place medals Adapted Athletes 1st thrugh 4th place medals Ambulatry Athletes 1st thrugh 4th place medals SECURITY It is the respnsibility f the turnament manager t secure adequate plice prtectin, and ther security precautins as necessary While many schls have adequate measures in place regarding safety and security at athletic cntests, all members are reminded f the imprtance f this prvisin The Natinal Federatin cntinues t make a strng effrt in reminding all state assciatins f the imprtance f member schls understanding the necessity fr adequate security Crwd cntrl is imprtant and we ask schls t take every precautin t prtect the athletes, fans and general public at cntests While acknwledging the expense f security, it is nted that this is an integral part f yur athletic planning prcess Adequate security is a requirement at pstseasn cntests Please be sure t secure the pit area fr athletes and caches nly MEDICAL COVERAGE ATHLETIC TRAINERS The hst schl is respnsible fr securing medical cverage fr the event including athletic trainers and alerting lcal ambulance service t serve in an n-call status if such cannt be present at the cmpetitin site It is strngly recmmended that the authrized medical cverage be staffed by individuals wh can determine whether r nt a suspected cncussin has ccurred per (3)(a) and the KHSAA Bard f Cntrl plicies, page 18 f the dcument Any fees assciated are t be taken frm gate receipts EMERGENCY ACTION PLAN Each turnament manager is expected t have and maintain an emergency actin plan fr the reginal turnament Emergency actin plans shall be practiced and referred t prir t the turnament INCLEMENT WEATHER While it wuld be ideal if all parties culd meet and agree n any re-scheduling f matches necessitated by inclement weather r ther natural events, this may nt be practical It is the duty f the reginal manager in cnsultatin with the participating teams t make decisins with regards t re-scheduling in the event f pstpnement and ensure that all teams, media utlets and schls are prperly ntified 2018 KHSAA Bwling Reginal Instructins - 8
