2 George Singh (Inducted 2016) Soccer 1992 One of the most decorated players in the history of Mountlake Terrace Soccer history George Singh had 4 years of success as one of the best soccer players to wear a Hawk soccer uniform. His three years on varsity produced three Wesco titles and his senior year the team took 2nd place in State. George s individual awards include being chosen as a three time 1st team All-Wesco player as a midfielder, All State his senior year and two time Most Valuable Player for his team. George went on to play for Edmonds CC where they also took 1st place and was chosen the team s MVP. Later George went on to play for various Men s league teams including the Hibernian Saints which won a National Title. He also played for 2 years with the Seattle Sounders during the 1998 and 1999 seasons. John Waxham (Inducted 2015) Football ~ Track & Field A 1967 graduate of Mountlake Terrace High School, John Waxham excelled both in football and track & field. During his junior and senior years at MTHS, John was named 1st team All- WESCO on both offense and defense on the gridiron. On the track team, John was the Northwest District Champion in the 220 yard sprint and qualified for state in both that event and on the 440 yard relay team his senior year. John continued his athletic career as a Griz at the University of Montana where he was a starter on Big Sky Champions and undefeated teams both his junior and senior seasons.

3 Merle Blevins (Inducted 2000) Boys Basketball~Football Merle s coaching and teaching career spanned 30 years. Merle served as a football and basketball coach at MTHS during that time, in addition to a carpentry teacher at MTHS for 30 years. The greatest coaching success of this person was when he was coach of the great 1977 boy s basketball team that won the state 4A title and had a 28-1 record. As coach of our basketball program he won many league and district titles. Merle coached many students athletes that went on to achieve great things among those are Dan Caldwell who was drafted in the 2 nd round of the NBA draft by the New York Knicks and the late Scott Copan who our Inspirational award trophy is named after. One of the all-time great coaches in the history of Washington State high school basketball. Kim Wilson (Inducted 2000) ~ Athletic Director Baseball~Football~Basketball When one speaks of athletics in the Edmonds School District it is hard to go very far in the conversation without speaking the name Kim Wilson. He began teaching at MTHS in During his stay at MTHS he coached both Baseball and Football. After attaining his administrative credentials, he not only became an MTHS administrator, but also the school s athletic director. In 1987 this individual would leave MTHS to become what some say is one of the best athletic directors the state of Washington has ever known. His insight and initiative have helped shape how athletics are perceived today in the Edmonds School District. Many coaches, both present and past here at MTHS, as well as many coaches around the district have been helped or molded by this inductee s influence. In 2006, Kim was inducted into the very prestigious WIAA Hall of Fame for his years of service and dedication to co-curricular activities in the state of Washington.

4 Wayne King (Inducted 2000) Boy's & Girl's Soccer~Wrestling~Cross Country~Track & Field Wayne started his career here at MTHS in In addition to teaching Industrial Arts, Physical Education and Exploring Technology courses, he also coached wrestling, cross-country, track and field and soccer. Known for his easy going and genuine nature, this person has enjoyed working with some of the finest athletes and students here. One of the most successful coaches in the history of the Edmonds School District, he was a finalist of the 1988 Everett Herald s Man of The Year in Sports as well as the Western Conference Boy s Soccer of the Year in Under his guidance both boy s and girl s teams flourished winning many conference championships and several top four finishes at state for both programs, including a State Championship for the girl s team in 1988 and a State Championship finalist for the boy s in Wayne has also placed many individuals highly at the state meets in both wrestling and track and field. A true pioneer to the athletic programs here at MTHS. Maggie King (Inducted 2000) Girl's Volleyball~Girls Basketball~Track & Field Maggie started her distinguished career at Terrace in In addition to teaching physical education, Maggie was a real pioneer with women's sports and was an innovator in creating the Girls Athletic Association before there were any sanctioned girl s WIAA sports. She was very instrumental in developing fullfledged girls programs upon the very first year of Title IX in Even in the days before Terrace had other women's sports, we had track; she also coached the girls in track in the days when Pam Riggs won her four state championships. When Title IX passed in 1970 she was ready, and Terrace really jumped out in front. She coached both volleyball and basketball and had excellent success with both, winning league championships, state appearances, etc. It was a few years before other programs in the area and state began catching up to hers; our girls were ready to compete thanks to her foresight and skills. Another significance of her contributions is the many women coaches who have made a significant mark in the state whom she coached. One of the great innovators and promoters of women sports at Mountlake Terrace High School, and also the Edmonds School District.

5 Dan Caldwell (Inducted 2001) Boy s Basketball A 1978 graduate of MTHS, Dan was a member of the 1977 boy s basketball team that went 28-1 and won the AAA State Championship. Dan was an All League and All State member while playing here at Terrace. Dan went on to play collegiate basketball first at Wenatchee Valley Community College and then at the University of Washington where he was an All Pac 8 team member. The New York Knicks then chose Dan in the third round of the 1982 National Basketball Association draft. Dan pursued his professional career overseas where he played in Italy for many years. Lisa Baughn (Inducted 2001) Volleyball~Girls Basketball A 1978 graduate of MTHS, Lisa was a three-year varsity volleyball and basketball player here at Terrace. All League and team captain in both basketball and volleyball. Lisa was the 1978 Senior Female of the Year. In 1999, Lisa was named by the Seattle Times as one of their all time sports stars: "Class of 1978 as a middle hitter, Earned All America honors on the University of Washington team that placed 10th nationally. Pamm Riggs (Inducted 2001) Track & Field As a member of our track and field team here at MTHS, Pamm won four state 3A titles in the 110 and 220-yard dashes. Pamm has won more state titles than any other athlete in the history of MTHS. After graduating from MTHS, Pamm participated in the Olympic Track and Field Trials.

6 Scott Copan (Inducted 2001) Boys Basketball~Track & Field A 1977 Graduate of MTHS, Scott was an All League First Team member and a member of the Hawks 1977 state championship team. One of the all-time best players in state history, Scott earned the 1977 AAA State Player of The Year. Scott played collegiately at Seattle Pacific University and also Edmonds Community College. Scott was also a member of the track and field team here at Terrace. In 1986, the boy s basketball program re-named their Most Inspirational Award in memory of Scott Copan. Janelle King-Munnis (Inducted 2002) Soccer~Girls Basketball~Softball A three sports letter winner in all four of her year here at Mountlake Terrace, Janelle was one of the first winners of the Master of Sports Awards. A standout soccer player, Janelle led the Hawks to the AA State Championship in both 1988 and Janelle earned All WESCO honors in all four of her years at Terrace and also received All-State honors in soccer in both her junior and senior years. Also a standout basketball and softball player, she earned numerous All- WESCO selections in both of these sports. Janelle continued her athletic career at Edmonds Community College playing basketball, has been an assistant coach here at Mountlake Terrace with the girl s soccer program, and also is a 2002 member of the Seattle Sounders women s professional soccer team. Byron Nelson (Inducted 2002) Football~Wrestling Byron Nelson started the wrestling program at Mountlake Terrace and had 13 individual state place winners in the "AAA" ranks. He also coached numerous district and regional placers. Although no records were kept for the first four years of his coaching career, Byron never had a losing season. His career record was 142 wins and

7 49 losses. He is remembered for his high principles of behavior and sportsmanship and his personal example of clean living, high morals and physical fitness. The Hawks Wrestling Team Most Inspirational Wrestler Award is named after Byron Nelson. In 1986, Byron Nelson was inducted into the Washington State Wrestling es Hall of Fame. T.T. Roe (Inducted 2002) Cross-Country~Boys Basketball~Track & Field A 1986 graduate of Mountlake Terrace High School, T.T. participated in cross-country, basketball and track and field. As a member of the cross-country team, he led the team to the state cross-country meet in While participating in basketball, T.T. was a team captain and is one of the all-time leaders in free throw percentage. T.T. s greatest accomplishments came on the track at the 1986 state track championships, when he won the state AA 1600 meter race in a state record time and also took home 2nd place in the 3200 meter race. As a junior he took second place in the 1600 meter race. After graduating in 1986, he accepted a scholarship to the University of Washington where he had a very successful four-year career. Jerry Curtis (Inducted 2003) Football~Track & Field Jerry Curtis started his coaching career at MTHS in the fall of 1979 and soon became the head football coach where he continued this position for several years. During this time, Jerry s teams were always disciplined and strong contenders in the WESCO conference. In 1986, Jerry assumed the responsibilities as an assistant track coach at MTHS. Jerry coached a broad range of events, from sprints to the throwing events to the pole vault and also all jumping events. Jerry coach two time state high jump champion, Francine Richardson in 1995 & Jerry was also a very successful swim coach at Edmonds-Woodway High School and he started his district coaching career at Brier Junior High School.

8 Ed Aliverti (Inducted 2003) Athletics Announcer Extraordinaire Ed Aliverti came to MTHS in the fall of As a counselor and the choir director, Ed had a voice that would serve him well when he was first recruited to announce a wrestling match at Edmonds High School in the mid 1950s. For eleven years Ed served as the voice of the MTHS wrestling program. This was just the beginning, as Ed has announced wrestling meets at every level, including the past five Olympic Games. Ed has also announced the Washington State High School Championships since His specialty as wrestling announcer set a standard that has not been matched locally, regionally or, for that matter, internationally. Ed is so highly respected in the sport because of his abilities to pronounce each wrestler s name properly, keep track of multiple mats at one time, and express the excitement and spirit of each match. Ed has spent forty years in the field of education and truly is one of the pioneers and ambassadors of the sport of wrestling not only at MTHS, but worldwide. Also of note to Hawk fans, Ed was the person who chose the MTHS original school colors of scarlet, silver and white. Roger Ottmar (Inducted 2004) Boy s Basketball Roger Ottmar started his teaching and coaching career in the fall of 1966 at Meadowdale High School. At Meadowdale, he coached tennis, baseball, and basketball. In the fall of 1977, Ottmar took over the reigns of the MTHS boy s basketball program. From , Ottmar s teams achieved as many accomplishments as one could hope for. From league championships to district championships to undefeated seasons to No. 1 in the state rankings, Ottmar has achieved it all. Ottmar has also had players achieve every individual honor possible. sent over 30 players on to the various collegiate levels. He has also seen his former players play professionally in the European leagues and in the NBA. Ottmar s individual success speaks for itself: he has won over 300 games, received the Everett Herald and Seattle Times of the Year honors, League of the Year honors, and has been named a finalist for the Everett Herald Sportsman of the Year (2000).

9 Jim Morgan (Inducted 2005) Football~Basketball~Track & Field One of the first great athletes at MTHS, Jim was a three sport letterman for the Hawks. Jim earned varsity letters in football, basketball, and track and field during all three of his years at MTHS from Competing in the Metro League his senior year, Jim led the league in rushing in It was during this year in a game vs. Ingraham High School that Jim scored three touchdowns each on runs longer than 50 yards! Jim was also one the top sprinters in the area while competing in the 110 and 440 yard dashes. Jim continued his athletic career at Everett Junior College where he played on the football team. Larry Link (Inducted 2005) Football~Wrestling One of the true coaching legends at MTHS, Larry served the Hawks in many different leadership positions. Larry was an assistant wrestling coach from 1977 to 1985, and in 1986 he took over the head coaching reigns of the program from John Casebeer and held this position until Link also was an assistant football coach from and served with the football program for longer than any other person in the history of MTHS. Larry taught in the Edmonds School District for 32 years and while at Terrace taught social studies and for many years and was the school s photographer and yearbook adviser. Melinda (Traxler) Hawkins (Inducted 2005) Volleyball~Basketball~Softball The very first Female Master of Sports at MTHS, Melinda was a four-year letterwoman in volleyball, basketball and softball earning 12 varsity letters. Melinda s leadership abilities were recognized by being named team captain of the volleyball and softball teams. Melinda won numerous All-WESCO Honors, was the 1985 Scholar of the Year, ASB President and Homecoming Queen.

10 Gordon Buslach (Inducted 2005) Football~Track & Field The most successful football coach in the history of MTHS, Buslach served as the head football coach of the Hawks from Gordon was the coach when Terrace saw its most successful seasons take place in 1970 and During these two years, the Hawks posted back to back 7-2 seasons. Gordon was also a track coach at Terrace during this period. Not only was Gordon a coach at Terrace, he also served as a social studies teacher at the school for many years. Gordon left Terrace in 1979 to become the first head football coach at Prairie High School in Vancouver, Wash. successful years. Susie Miller (Inducted 2006) Volleyball~Basketball~Softball One of the first great female athletes here at MTHS. Susie lettered all three years in three different sports. At one time Susie held the girl s basketball single game scoring record with 32 points. After graduating from MTHS, Susie attended Western Washington University in Bellingham and played for the women s varsity basketball team for four years. While at WWU, Susie led the team in assists and steals for four consecutive years. Susie returned to MTHS in 1987 and coached the girl s varsity volleyball team for 17 very

11 Kyle Buslach (Inducted 2006) Football~Basketball~Track & Field One of the all-time great multiple sport athletes in the history of Mountlake Terrace High School. Kyle earned 7 varsity letters while attending MTHS. In football, Kyle was a first team All- WESCO performer on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. In basketball, he was a member of the first ever WESCO championship team at MTHS, while also earning the Mr. Hustle award. Finally, Kyle was one of the top pole vault performers in the state, earning 3 rd place his senior year and setting the school record. Kyle and his father Gordon are the first ever father-son inductees into the MTHS Hall of Fame. Pete Frey (Inducted 2008) Soccer The first coach at Mountlake Terrace High School to bring home a state championship in Pete also was the first soccer coach ever at MTHS. Pete s list of accomplishments includes a WESCO championship, district championship and an overall coaching record of 35 wins, 4 losses and 1 tie. After his coaching stint at MTHS, Pete went on to coach the boy s and girl s soccer teams at Sehome High School in Bellingham for over 20 years. Dana Garner (Inducted 2008) Soccer One of the greatest soccer players in the history of Mountlake Terrace High School, Dana Garner is the all time goal scorer at MTHS. The Team MVP in 1995 and 1996, Dana was an All- Wesco 1st team forward for three consecutive years. After high school, Dana attended Seattle Pacific University where he was a starter for four consecutive years and won numerous awards. Dana was drafted with the 33rd overall pick by the Vancouver Whitecaps professional soccer team in 2001.

12 Francine Richardson (Inducted 2010) Track and Field A 1996 graduate, Francine is one of only two Mountlake Terrace High School students to ever win multiple state championships. In 1995 and 1996, Francine won back to back WIAA State AAA state high jump championships while setting school records in the events in both years. After high school, Francine participated in track and field at the University of Washington on a full scholarship while also excelling academically and earning two degrees. John Batts (Inducted 2011) Wrestling A 1975 graduate, John is one of the most accomplished wrestlers in the history of Mountlake Terrace High School wrestling. While a student at MTHS, John was a three-year letter winner in football and wrestling. During his sophomore and junior years, John placed in the top 8 at the WIAA State AAA wrestling championships. In 1975, his senior year, John capped off an undefeated season and won the state championship in the unlimited weight division. After graduating John went on to a career as a firefighter and was an assistant coach for the wrestling program at his alma mater. Jim Johnson (Inducted 2011) Basketball ~ Baseball A 1976 graduate of MTHS. Jim Johnson participated in basketball and baseball. Jim was a two-year All Wesco 1 st team selection for baseball and started for two-years on the MTHS basketball teams. Jim s baseball and basketball teams both participated in the postseason. After graduating from MTHS, Jim played baseball at Washington State University and then became the head baseball coach at both Edmonds and Bellevue Community Colleges.

13 Leslie Lay (Inducted 2014) Swimming A 1980 graduate of Mountlake Terrace High School, Leslie is undoubtedly the most decorated swimmer in the history of Mountlake Terrace High School. In 1979, Leslie was recognized as a high school All American while holding multiple records in the 100 and 200 yard Backstroke and the 200 and 400 yard Individual Medley for Mountlake Terrace High School and the Dolphin Swim Club. For three years at MTHS, Leslie was undefeated in dual, district and regional meets. After graduation from MTHS, Leslie took her swimming talents to The Ohio State University where she was a 4-year letter winner, 2-year First Team All-Big 10 (1982 & 1984) and an All- American in Ryan Strieby (Inducted 2014) Basketball ~ Baseball A 2003 graduate of Mountlake Terrace High School, Ryan excelled on the baseball field as well as the basketball court. During Ryan s senior year he earned All-Wesco First Team honors in baseball and basketball and was also selected as the school of The Year. After graduating from MTHS and two years at Edmonds Community College where he earned First Team All NWAACC, Ryan earned a baseball scholarship to the University of Kentucky. While at UK, Ryan led the team in numerous categories and earned the honor of Southeastern Conference Player of the Year in 2006 and was named by Baseball America First-Team All American. Ryan was selected in the fourth round of the 2006 Major League Baseball draft by the Detroit Tigers and received their Minor League Player of The Year in 2008.

14 Seamus Boxley (Inducted 2014) Basketball A 2000 graduate of Mountlake Terrace High School, Seamus will be remembered as one of the all-time greats of the MTHS boys basketball program. In Seamus s senior season he earned All-Wesco First Team honors, First Team All-Area honors, while also earning the Everett Herald s Player of the Year Award. Seamus was named to the Associated Press and Seattle Times All-State First Team teams. Seamus was the captain of the 2000 boys basketball team that had a perfect 20-0 regular season of which was the first time in the history of the Edmonds School District this feat was achieved. Seamus then played four years at Portland State University. While attending PSU Seamus earned Big Sky Conference Freshman of The Year in 2001, two time First- Team All-Big Sky honors, two time Big Sky Defensive Player of The Year and also the Big Sky MVP in After college Seamus continued his basketball career professionally in various countries overseas.
