2 Will Wade Head 1st Year at LSU 5th Year as a Head Coach Frank William Will Wade was named the 22nd head men s basketball coach at LSU on March 20, He comes to LSU after a two-year stint as the head coach at Virginia Commonwealth University with four years of very successful experience as a head basketball coach. Wade was introduced to LSU fans in a most unique way for an introduction of a Tiger coach -- at a special media event held in the middle of the LSU Student Union. Wade told the media and a large contingent of LSU students: I am so excited about the opportunity to lead this program and LSU Basketball back to the top of the SEC and back to regular, consistent NCAA Tournament appearances. We have been to four Final Fours. We have been to 21 NCAA Tournaments. We have 10 SEC Championships, and we are going to add to all three of those categories over our tenure here. We are going to have players, staff members, everyone in our program is going to be committed to doing what it takes to make LSU the best basketball program that it can be. We are going to have unwavering commitment to put the team first, to put the state first, to put our school first to represent all of these folks in a firstclass fashion. We are going to be a hardworking team that represents this great university that represents this great state, Wade said. LSU and its fans are not looking for a rebuilding program, but taking the foundation and making it solid again a change of culture that gives the program a look of consistency yearafter-year. Wade, one of the youngest coaches in Division I at 34, but one of the most energetic showed his recruiting chops early with a class for the season that was ranked 16th in college basketball in the composite recruiting rankings. Wade s recruiting chops and promotional ideas has created a buzz in the pre-season that hasn t been seen too often and the Coach has done his part, speaking most of the summer on the Tiger Tour and to student groups making sure they feel a part of the program. Coach Wade has been seen on the night prior to football game visiting with folks in the RV lots and on the first day of school was out in a golf cart picking up students and giving them a lift to opening day classes. The native of Nashville, Tennessee, directed VCU to a record and two NCAA Tournament appearances the last two seasons. The 2016 Rams advanced to the second round of the tournament, defeating seventh-seed Oregon State before losing to Oklahoma. Wade was the youngest head coach in the NCAA Tournament in In 2017, VCU lost to St. Mary s in the first round of the 2017 tourney. The Rams were 28-8 over his two years in the Atlantic 10 Conference, posting 14-4 records both years. The team was in 2016 and earned a share of the Atlantic 10 Conference regular season crown. The 2017 team won 26 games and finished second in the league, one-game behind Dayton. Under his tutelage, guard Melvin Johnson earned First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors in while Je Quan Lewis represented VCU on the first team. Mo Alie-Cox was named to the A-10 Defensive Team in both 2016 and Wade, age 34, previously served at VCU as an assistant with the Rams under Shaka Smart from VCU was during that time, reached three NCAA Tournament and won the 2012 Colonial Athletic Association Championship. He was part of the staff in 2011 when VCU advanced from the NCAA First Four all the way to the Final Four in Houston. During his tenure as a Ram assistant, Wade, who worked closely with VCU s post players, saw the Milwaukee Bucks select center Larry Sanders with the 15th overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft (now with Cleveland). In addition, Wade played a major role in the development of current NBA players Troy Daniels (Memphis) and Briante Weber (Charlotte). Weber owns VCU records for 3-pointers in a single season and career steals. Wade is credited with being a key figure in four top non-power five recruiting classes in his four seasons at VCU. Prior to becoming the head coach at VCU, Wade served as the head coach at Chattanooga for the and seasons. His first Mocs squad went in 2014, finishing 12-6 and second in regular season Southern Conference play. The 18 wins overall were the most by the program since and the 12 wins in league games was the highest total since The team made the school s first postseason appearance since 2009 in the CIT. Wade was honored with the Anton Foy Southern Conference Coach of the Year award for his efforts in Also that year, Z. Mason became the first Chattanooga student-athlete to win the conference s Defensive Player of the Year award. The Mocs won 22 games in 2015 and finished 15-3 in the league as Wade guided Chattanooga to its first 20-win season since He finished his two seasons there at and 27-7 in league play. In the two seasons prior to his arrival, Chattanooga was overall and in SoCon play. In his four years as a head coach, he has a combined record at Chattanooga and VCU of and THE WADE RECORD in conference play with three post-season appearances. Wade s reputation, where ever he has coached, is a person who is a tireless worker and relentless recruiter. Wade was VCU Head Coach Shaka Smart s first hire upon being named the head VCU coach in That reputation was cemented prior to his arrival on the VCU campus. He served as an assistant to Tommy Amaker at Harvard in and Much like at VCU, he was Amaker s first hire. In their second year, the Crimson went 14-14, the first season of.500 or better in the program since Wade had a hand in the development of future NBA standout Jeremy Lin and assembled a top 25 recruiting class during his stay. Wade s coaching start came at Clemson where he served as Director of Basketball Operations ( ) and Graduate Assistant ( ) after four seasons as a student manager ( ). There he worked for coaches Larry Shyatt ( ) and Oliver Purnell ( ). In eight years on coaching staffs at Clemson, Harvard and VCU, the teams had a record of with six postseason appearances ( ). The Tigers lost in the second round, 80-67, in Dallas at SMU. The win by LSU over UL-Lafayette was LSU s first in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in the post-season NIT in four tries. LSU has lost all three post-season games played in the Maravich Center 1982 to Tulane (83-72), 1983 to UNO (99-94, ot) and in the second round in 2002 after LSU won at Iowa, to Ball State. LSU WIN TOTAL LEAVING LAST YEAR BEHIND LSU, with the NIT win now has 18 wins, eight more than a year ago, thanks to wins in the final six SEC home games and the NIT win. LSU is assured no matter where the season ends of a winning record for the Tigers and a fifth consecutive winning record as a head coach for first-year head Coach Will Wade. LSU finished with eight conference wins and that is six games to the plus from the two that LSU won in SKYLAR MAYS NAMED COSIDA ACADEMIC SECOND TEAM ALL-AMERICAN LSU sophomore guard Skylar Mays was named second team Academic All-American as selected by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America). LSU has won 549 games in the 47 years of play in the building and 253 in league play. LSU has won at least six conference home games in five of the last seven seasons. The double figure wins at home marks the 34th time in building history to have double digit wins at home. Last year, LSU was 8-8 at home overall, 1-8 in the SEC. BUT NEEDING TO LEARN AGAIN HOW TO WIN ON THE ROAD When Will Wade took an LSU team to an opponent s home court for the first time on Dec. 29 against Memphis, it was a win for the Tigers. Then LSU won its first two road games at A&M and Arkansas (Jan. 6 and Jan. 10). So basically, it has been two months since LSU won a game on an opponent s home court, a streak of seven games. DON T LET A RECORD FOOL YOU Some of these numbers will be discussed more, but there is a difference and an improvement in LSU Basketball compared to where LSU finished last year. WILL WADE The graduate of Franklin Road Academy in Nashville has already this season won his 100th career game in his fifth season as a head coach (2 at Chattanooga, 2 at VCU and this year at LSU). He has also reestablished an interest in basketball at LSU and established a new culture for this program as it moves forward This from one of the youngest head coaches in the major conferences this season: Name School Birthdate David Padgett Louisville 2/13/1985 Will Wade LSU 11/26/1982 Richard Pitino Minnesota 9/16/1982 Mike Boynton, Jr. Oklahoma St. 1/17/1982 Lavall Jordan Butler 4/16/1979 With 18 wins this year, Wade continues his streak of winning records in each of his five seasons as head coach. POST-SEASON Will Wade joins Trent Johnson as the only two LSU coaches to take their first team to post-season play. In 2009, Johnson took the Tigers to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. For Wade, this is his first trip to the NIT, but continues a trend of going to post-season in each of his three jobs over the five seasons as a head coach. LAST 5 In the last five games, LSU was 2-3 and averaged 79.0 points per game In those five games, Tremont Waters averaged 19.0 points, 6.0 assists and made 15-of-33 treys (45.5%). Skylar Mays averaged 11.6 points, Brandon Sampson 11.0 points and Duop Reath 10.4 over the last five which includes the final three games of the regular season, the SEC Tournament and NIT game In those five games, LSU has shot 45.9 percent. LSU SHOOTS OVER 50 PERCENT 12 TIMES; THREE TIMES OVER 60 PERCENT The Tigers have shot over 50 percent from the floor 11 times this season as the Tigers shot over 50 percent in the season opener and over 50 percent in the regular season finale: Alcorn State 11/10/17 36-of % (H) Samford 11/16/17 39-of % (H) Vs. However, in the second meeting LSU was 15-of-30 outside the arc, compared to 4-of-18 by the Tigers in the first meeting. LSU was second in the league in field goal percentage entering the NIT (where it has been most of the year) with 47.5 percent, behind Arkansas. LSU s percentage is about 2.5 percentage points over last year when LSU shot 45.1 percent from the field. LSU has now won 13 straight games when shooting over 50 percent, dating back to last season. LSU SHOOTS OVER 60 PERCENT IN THE LEAGUE FOR FIRST TIME SINCE 06. While the Vandy game (2/20) was the third time this year LSU has shot over 60 percent from the field, it marked the first time this year the Tigers have shot over 60 percent in an SEC game The last time previously was when LSU shot 63 percent from the field on Feb. 1, 2006 against Auburn. Since the season, LSU has posted 10 games of 60 percent or better from the field and this was the third time in SEC play. LSU INSIDE THE ARC For much of the non-conference season, LSU was 60 percent or better shooting from inside the arc, and against UL-Lafayette, the Tigers shot 67.6 percent inside the arc (25-of-37). That was upped LSU s two-point percentage to 56.1 percent and they are No. 16 in the country according to TeamRankings.com. LSU s present total is way up from last season when LSU shot 50.2% inside the arc. LSU SETS THREE-POINT RECORD FOR SEASON With its first three-pointer against Mississippi State (3/3), the Tigers set the school mark for most threepointers in a season, topping the mark of 234 it tied in the waning segments of regulation in the Carolina game on (2/28) and was first set during the season. LSU made 11 threes against State in both the regular season finale and the SEC Tournament, and while LSU made just four in the NIT opener, LSU now has 260 for the season LSU has been in double figures in threes nine times this season. LSU s record season for attempts makes the team the first LSU team to attempt over 700 threes in a season, now at 744, topping the 675 set in the season. Earlier this season, LSU made 15 treys against Arkansas on Feb. 3, the fourth most in a single game by LSU team. LSU is averaging 8.1 a game, up from last year when the Tigers made 6.3 a contest. LSU is fifth in the league in threes made per game. FREE THROWS Earlier in the year, LSU was on the mark against Samford (11/16), making 19-of-20 for the game, including 16-of-16 in the first half. LSU s lone miss came in the first half with 2:38 to play after LSU made its first three of the night. It marked the fourth time since for LSU to shoot at least 95% when attempting at least 20 FT s in a game: 11/16/2017 W, vs. Samford ; 19-of-20 FTs (95.0%) 2/21/2009 W, vs. Auburn 79-72; 21-of-22 FTs (95.5%) 2/2/2008 L, at Alabama 72-81; 21-of-22 FTs (95.5%) 2/4/1989 L, at Miss. State 79-96; 19-of-20 FTs (95.0%) LSU was heading for another game like this on Feb. 3 against Arkansas after making all three first half attempts and the first 11 of the second half before a miss with 2:01 in the game. LSU did make 21-of-23 for 91.3 percent for the night. But against Florida (2/7), it went the exact opposite way as LSU made only 7-of-15, including just 3-of-8 which included missed one-and-one opportunities in the second half. LSU was 18-of-24 against Ole Miss (2/10). After nine games, LSU was at an incredible 78.4 percent at the line, but now LSU is still at a good 73.2 percent ( ), fifth in the league. That is still way ahead of the 69.6 percent that LSU shot at the line during the season. WATERS PASSES SIMMONS FOR LSU FRESHMAN ASSIST MARK In his one season at LSU in 2016, Ben Simmons posted 158 assists for the freshman assist record and it took Tremont Waters a couple of minutes into the second half of his 27th game (vs. Vandy, 2/20) to get assist No And, it wasn t a cheapie as Waters drove to the goal and dished it back to a flashing Aaron Epps who finished with a dunk. With seven more assists Wednesday, the number is now at 190 and that is tied for fourth most in a single season by any LSU player. Another 7 assists will bring him to second on LSU s all-time list. Only Kenny Higgs, the all-time leader at 239, has even broken 200 assists in a single season at LSU. MORE WATERS STATS Tremont Waters, a member of this year s All-SEC Freshman team as selected by the coaches, just missed a fourth consecutive 20-point game (2/28) when he had 19 against Carolina This followed games when the freshman had 21 against Mizzou, 28 against Vandy and 25 at UGA. Waters had his 10th game of 20 or more points in the SEC Tournament, scoring 28 (his co-second high game) against Mississippi State (3/8), making 10-of-20 field goals (third time to have double digit made FGs) and 5-of-10 treys (fourth time he has made five treys in a game) to go with six assists (he has 20 for the season SCORING BREAKDOWNS CLASS PTS PCT. According to TeamReference.com, Waters is in position to be the first LSU player since the season (the furthest the site database can reference to) to average 15 points and five assists in a season (presently 15.8 points, 5.9 assists). The last SEC freshman to do it would have been John Wall of Kentucky in the season when he averaged 16.6 and 6.5. In the season, Randy Livingston was the closest LSU player to ever go 15-5 with 14.0 ppg average and 9.4 assists per game. Waters is No. 9 in the league in scoring, No. 2 in assists, No. 1 in steals (2.0), No. 10 threes per game (2.3), No. 9 in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.9) and fifth in minutes played per game (33.0). Waters was a two-time SEC Freshman of the Week. The first FOW honors after his opening game in which he scored 27 points, the most by a freshman in an opening game since His play at the end of the first Texas A&M in College Station when he made two treys in the final 12 seconds to get LSU the win earned him his second SEC FOW honor. Waters averaged 19.5 points, eight rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals against 17th-ranked Kentucky and at No. 11 Texas A&M. WATERS GOES DOUBLE FIGURE ASSISTS AGAIN IN REGULAR SEASON FINALE Freshman Tremont Waters posted double figure assists a fifth time in the regular season finale against Mississippi State with 10 successful passes during the course of the game. It was his fourth 10 assist game, one below his 11 in the win over Arkansas in 2/3. It was his fifth double-double, four points-assists, one points-rebounds Here is the list of those with double figure assists games for LSU since the start of the season: 11 Tremont Waters, vs. Arkansas, 2/3/18 11 Skylar Mays, vs. Houston, 11/29/16 10 Tremont Waters, vs. Miss. State, 3/3/18 10 Tremont Waters, vs. UNF, 12/22/17 10 Tremont Waters, vs. UNCW, 12/10/17 10 Tremont Waters, vs. UT Martin, 11/29/17 10 Ben Simmons, vs. NC State, 11/24/15 10 Charles Carmouche, at Marquette, 12/22/12 10 Garrett Temple, vs. Troy, 11/30/08 10 Tack Minor, vs. UNO, 11/24/04 10 Tack Minor, vs. Ohio State, 1/15/05 While Tack Minor had 10 assists in the same season, Waters earlier this year was the first LSU player to go back-to-back double figure assists since Randy Livingston as a redshirt freshman had three straight games of double figure assists in the season 12 vs. Georgia State, 12 vs. Md-Baltimore and 11 vs. Florida This was the second of two set of three consecutive games in double figure assists that Livingston had that season. Waters points-rebound double came against Kentucky (1/3) when he had 18 points and 11 rebounds. DUOP REATH The senior from Australia had his seventh game over 20 points or more this season to show for it, including the top four games of his LSU career. Five of his 20-plus games have come in SEC play this season: 24 vs. Kentucky 31 at Vanderbilt 21 vs. Texas A&M 21 at Tennessee 26 vs. Ole Miss 26 vs. UL-Lafayette For his two years, Reath has 40 career games scored in double figures. His scoring average is turning out to be very consistent, averaging over 12 points both seasons. This year he is averaging 12.7 points overall and 5.4 rebounds, while in conference play he averaged 12.9 points and 5.7 rebounds. In looking at some of his games, we highlight his 31-point, 13-rebound effort at Vandy (Jan. 20), his second double-double against SEC competition this year. That day he made 13-of-20 field goals, including a trey. The native of South Sudan, who grew up in Australia scored 30 previously in the UNCW game when he made 13-of-17 field goals with a trey; and, 24 points and 11 rebounds in the Kentucky game when he was 11-of-17 from the field with two treys. Reath earned SEC Player of the Week honors for the second time while at LSU after his big game versus UNCW in December. Against UL-Lafayette Wednesday, he made 10-of-14 field goals, including 2-of-4 from the arc and all four free throws. Reath is 163-of-298 for the year from the field (54.7%). He has made 18-of-42 three-pointers this year and that s a very good percentage of 42.9 percent (13-of-31 in league play). SKYLAR MAYS GOOD ON AND OFF THE FLOOR Last year it was starting point guard for 25 of 31 games. This year it s still somewhat starting point guard because in Coach Wade s system, he believes in having two point-guard types out on the floor to smoothly run the offense through. Although he came off the bench against UL-Lafayette in the NIT opener, Mays hit 5-of-10 field goals, including a trey for 11 points. So far the numbers are good as he is averaging 11.2 points per game, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. Mays has had 21 games in double figure scoring, including seven-of-the-last-nine-games. Mays has posted at least five assists in 14 games in his career, seven this season. For the season, Mays is 43-of-127 from three-point range (33.9 percent). He has been a consistently good force from the free throw line, mak LSU MEN S BASKETBALL

8 ing 77-of-92 for the season (83.7%). Against UGA (2/24), Mays had a career high six steals and he is now third in the league at 1.6 steals per game. Last year, Mays made 21 treys and shot 32.8 percent. He averaged 8.3 points a game compared to 11.3 points this season. MAYS JOINS SCHOOL S 200 ASSIST CLUB Skylar Mays entered the UGA game (2/24) with 199 career assists, one shy of becoming the 33rd player in LSU history to have 200 career assists. He got the one assist to join the 200 assist club. Kenny Higgs is the alltime school assist leader with 645. He is now at 210 career assists. EPPS SENIOR DAY STRONG The fourth-year senior is working hard to make his final year a good one as he is an example of how much returning players have improved under the tutelage of Coach Wade. On senior tribute day, Epps was in double figures with 16 points on 6-of-11 field goals and an impressive 4-of-8 shooting from outside the arc. Epps had his third double double of the season at Arkansas (1/10) with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Obviously, he liked playing the Razorbacks as he had 16 points and five rebounds in the win in the Maravich Center (6-9 FG, 2 treys) in February. In December, it was back-to-back double doubles for the Ball, Louisiana native. After a 26 point, 16 rebounds game against Houston on Dec. 10, Epps came back with another double double of 16 points and 10 rebounds against SFA on Dec. 13. In the two games, Epps scored 42 points and had 26 rebounds. He played 59 minutes, made 13-of-24 field goals, 4-of-8 3 FGs and 12-of-13 free throws. His night of 26 points and 16 rebounds marked just the third time since the start of the season, according to sports-reference.com, that an LSU player has had 25 points or more and 15 or more rebounds in a single game. Epps is also the only one of the three to be on a winning side in their game. Aaron Epps ( ) --- vs. Houston (W) Ben Simmons (1-9-16) at Florida (L) Jordan Mickey ( ) at Miss. State (L) 26 points, 16 rebounds 28 points, 17 rebounds 25 points, 20 rebounds Epps has started 27 games for the Tigers this season. Against Kentucky the senior posted 13 points on 6-of-11 shooting, including one trey. At A&M, he was 4-of-7 from the field with three of those three-pointers for 11 points with eight rebounds. Versus Alabama he had 14 points and had 12 in the A&M 2nd game Against Ole Miss (2/10), Epps just missed another double double with 11 points and nine rebounds He had 15 points (5-7 FG, 1 trey) and eight rebounds in the win over Vandy (2/20). He is averaging 9.4 points per game and a team best 5.5 rebounds overall. Epps has made 110-of-211 field goals for 52.1 percent with 34 treys (34.3 percent). In the SEC games, he averaged 9.6 points. JC TRANSFER DARYL EDWARDS Daryl Edwards had enough presence of mind to move up out of the restricted zone in front of it to draw a charge with five seconds left when LSU defeated Mizzou, (2/20) While Edwards was unable to get the ball inbounds on the ensuing play as the ball was tipped, he was there in the scramble to help keep Mizzou off the scoreboard for the win. Edwards after starting the last few games, did not dress against Carolina with a hip situation (2/28), but did play 11 minutes off the bench against Mississippi State (3/3) and played 27 against the Bulldogs in the tournament, scoring 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting with three treys. He returned to the starting lineup in the NIT and scored five points with two assists and no turnovers in 30 minutes. Edwards had a season high of 21 points at Alabama last month. Edwards hit 8-of-10 field goals, including all three trey attempts and 2-of-4 free throws. He also had three steals and one assists to go with three rebounds. Also in the league, Edwards had 12 in the home win against Texas A&M, 14 in the home win against Arkansas and scored 11 points on 5-of-9 shooting at UGA. Edwards has been in double figures in nine total games and he is averaging 6.8 points per game with 1.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists. His 14 points against Arkansas (Feb. 3) all came in the first half, but his three treys that day certainly helped LSU key a halftime advantage that parlayed into the win. He has started 15 total games. He has made 38 treys (38-102, 37.3 percent) and is 29-of-37 (78.4%) at the free throw line for the year. BRANDON SAMPSON For the first time since he sprained his ankle in Maui in the fourth game of the season, Brandon Sampson recorded back-to-back double figure scoring games early in February. Against Arkansas (2/3), he hit two treys and 5-of-6 at the line for 13 points. At Florida (2/7), he equaled his career high of four treys and had 17 points tying his second highest game of the year. His junior season started with three consecutive double figure games until he severely sprained his left ankle in the first minute of the semifinals of the Maui Invitational. He missed the next six games and began coming off the bench with his best game at Memphis when he scored 12 points with three treys. He came off the bench in the finale to have a strong game against State Saturday (3/3) with 16 points on 4-of-7 shooting, including one trey and an impressive 7-of-7 at the free throw line to go with three rebounds and three steals in 24 minutes. He returned to the starting lineup for the game against Georgia (1/16). He scored a team-high 17 points, making 6-of-11 field goals, including 3-of-5 treys and both free throws. Now it becomes a case of consistency in game play to put back-to-back double figure games together. He had his ninth double figure score game versus UL-Lafayette on Wednesday with 18 points making five field goals and going 7-of-9 at the charity stripe. Sampson has played 26 games this season with seven starts, averaging 8.0 points and 2.7 rebounds. LSU CAREER/SEASON STATS 200 Assists Club 1. 9 RANDY ONWUASOR Grad student Randy Onwuasor got the nod for the first five games that Brandon Sampson was out before coming off the bench for several games and has been in and out of the starting lineup of late. Onwuasor was on his game in the first Arkansas win (1/10), hitting 4-of-6 field goals and all four free throw attempts. At Auburn, Onwuasor had his LSU high of 14 points, hitting 4-of-6 field goals, including both three-point attempts and all four free throws. He also had two assists, three steals and no turnovers. He had 13 versus Marquette in Maui and 13 against Sam Houston State. He had 10 at Tennessee giving him his first back-toback double figure games for the Tigers. At this point in the season, Onwuasor is averaging 4.4 points per game and 2.1 rebounds. He has 11 treys and made 32-of-42 from the free throw line (76.2%). WAYDE SIMS GETS FIRST COLLEGE DOUBLE DOUBLE Wayde Sims, the sophomore son of former LSU men s basketball player Wayne Sims, recorded his first college double up December 19 in a 20-minute stunt off the bench against Sam Houston. Sims had 10 points and 10 rebounds to go with a career best three blocks. He had a great game against Vanderbilt (2/20) as he stepped into the starting role as the matchup provided an opportunity for LSU to go smaller and Sims responded 6-of-6 from the field, including 1 trey, and 3-of-4 from the line for 16 points in 30 minutes. It was his LSU career high in scoring. Against UGA, he had six points with two assists and two blocks. He returned to the starting lineup against Carolina, playing 29 minutes and scored 12 points. He was 5-of-9 from the field and 2-3 from the free throw line. Sims is averaging 5.8 points and 3.0 rebounds. He has started 10 games and played an average of 17.6 minutes. BRANDON RACHAL OFF THE BENCH Brandon Rachal of Natchitoches-Central High in Natchitoches has been looking for playing time with Rachal getting the second most playing time among the freshmen. After a seven-point game at UGA (2/24), he had seven more points with three steals in 27 minutes, but also 13 rebounds including four on the offensive end in the Carolina game (2/28). He has shown a lot of defensive prowess as against Mississippi State (3/3) he had six points, five rebounds and four steals in 27 minutes. He came right back against the Bulldogs in the SEC Tournament and played 32 minutes and equaled his career high in points at 10, almost had a double double with nine boards and for the second straight game has four steals. Rachal, who equaled the most rebounds by an LSU player in an SEC game this year, averaged 4.4 points in 27 games, averaging 15.9 minutes a game. He is 48-of-90 from the field (53.3%). In the last five games, he is averaging 7.5 points per game and a team best 7.3 rebounds a game. During those games, Rachal was 14-of-20 from the field and had 11 steals. ALREADY ON BOARD FOR NEXT YEAR LSU men s basketball coach Will Wade and his coaching staff made the most of their first fall signing period together as a staff putting together three outstanding signees that has LSU in a strong position in the 247 composite team recruiting rankings. The Tigers signed two players in the top 32 in the country and three in the top 61, according to ESPNU (one five-star and two four-star athletes). The Tigers signed five-star forward Naz Reid of Rochelle Catholic in New Jersey, ranked No. 18 by ESPNU and four-star athletes Ja Vonte Smart of Scotlandville Magnet in Baton Rouge (ranked No. 32); and, Darius Days of IMG Academy in Florida (ranked No. 61). Reid has been chosen for the McDonald s All-American Game that will be held in late March at Phillips Arena in Atlanta.
