Andrews will likely compete in various tournaments throughout the season and could see time in Missouri s lineup. John is a fifth year senior who has filled in to our lineup on a couple of occasions, Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. He s a hard working competitor and our staff expects him to challenge for the starting spot at 184 pounds : Wrestling at 174 pounds, Andrews placed among the top eight at three tournaments during his junior season. Andrews took fourth at the Dana Open Jan. 5, fourth at the Roger Denker Open, Jan. 18 and fourth at the Missouri Valley College Open, Feb. 2. Among Andrews victories was an 8-0 win by major decision over Justin Grosse of Wisconsin Jan. 5, at the Dana Open and a 6-0 decision over Tony Leon of Lindenwood Feb 2 at the Missouri Valley College Open : Andrews made his second career start in the Missouri lineup when he took on Derek Coffet of Old Dominion on Feb. 14. Wrestling at 174 pounds, Andrews suffered a 6-0 loss at home in the Hearnes Center. Competing in four tournaments, Andrews finished as high as fifth at the Missouri Valley Open, finishing the day-long event with a 4-2 record that included a fall in 3:12 over Jake Oberfoell of Missouri Valley. Andrews fifth-place win came in the form of a 4-3 decision over Shawn Kuhlman of Fort Hays : Beginning his redshirt freshman campaign at the Lindenwood Open Oct. 29, Andrews recorded the first of four shutouts on the season after holding down Jared Sugden of McKendree College, 6-0. Andrews collected 11 wins in his first competitive year of wrestling and of his final seven bouts, Andrews claimed four victories, three coming by fall. Competing at the Missouri Valley Open, Feb. 4, Andrews recorded his fastest pin of the season in 1:21 over Eric Siesener of Missouri Baptist : Receiving a warm greeting to the world of college wrestling, Andrews won a close match in his first contest by beating Matt Warren of SIU- Edwardsville 6-5 on Nov. 4. Andrews picked up the first pin of his career in 1:46 against John Wilcox of Missouri Valley at the Missouri Valley Open Jan. 29, the fastest of two falls he recorded on the day. HIGH SCHOOL: Andrews left behind his No. 1 ranking in the state of Virginia after graduating from McLean in Under the direction of Head Coach Joe McCaferey, Andrews wrestled at 171 pounds with the Highlanders and was named the Most Valuable Player as a senior in Competing at the Virginia State Freestyle Championships, Andrews finished third as a junior (2003) and second as a senior (2004). A three-sport athlete, Andrews was honored as Most Valuable Player for the football team and earned all-district honors for his role as running back. Andrews totaled seven letters through his TigerStyle-20 four years of high school and earned a 3.50 grade-point average. Strong in science, Andrews finished fourth in the International Science Fair. PERSONAL: John is the son of Peter and Cheryl Andrews and was born in Falls Church, Va., on Feb. 2, Andrews has one older brother, Ryan (25) and is majoring in psychology.

Expected to wrestle at 157 pounds, Brooks could also see time in the Tiger lineup backing up Nicholas Marable at 165 pounds or Raymond Jordan at 174 pounds. Emanuel is a senior who has filled in for us at different weight classes, Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. He almost defeated nationally-ranked Brandon Browne of Nebraska at the Big 12 tournament last year when he wrestled up two weight classes at 174 pounds. Emanuel is very loyal to the program. I m confident that he would start and be ranked high at any other Division I program in the nation, but he s incredibly loyal to our team and can t imagine competing anywhere else : Making his first Missouri collegiate start, Nov. 9 at 157 pounds, Brooks recorded a 7-6 win by decision over 17th-ranked Timothy Morrison of Rider, helping the Tigers to a 34-4 victory over the Broncs. Brooks finished his campaign with a fourth place showing at the Big 12 Championships, wrestling up two weight classes at 174 pounds. Brooks earned an opening match win, 5-3, over Pat Flynn of Oklahoma before dropping two straight losses to finish the day at 1-2. Two of Brooks seven wins were recorded in overtime. Both victories came Dec. 29 at the The Midlands tournament in Evanston, Ill : Wrestling his first year in a Tiger singlet, Brooks finished the season with a 11-2 record. Brooks recorded three top-six tournament finishes throughout his sophomore campaign. Taking second at the CMSU Nov. 12, Brooks only loss came in the championship bout to current 165 pound starter Nicholas Marable, 3-2. One week later, Brooks captured third at the Missouri Open, and turned the tables on Marable with a 3-2 victory of his own. Brooks was forced to drop his final three matches of the season due to medical forfeit and took sixth at the University of Iowa (UNI) Open on Dec (Lincoln College): A transfer from Lincoln College, Brooks spent two years on the Lynx wrestling team and helped the program to a third place showing at the 2005 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Tournament. As a freshman, Brooks took top honors at the 2005 NJCAA National Tournament while wrestling at 149 pounds and finished first at the Region IV Tournament. During the season, Brooks finished third at the Indiana Little State Tournament and first at the Triton Open. HIGH SCHOOL: Under the direction of Head Coach Khris Whelan, a two-time Missouri wrestling All-American, Brooks earned All-America honors at 145 pounds after finishing third at the Illinois State Championships as a senior in Brooks competed at Cahokia High School and finished 10th in the state as a junior in In addition to his four letters earned in wrestling, Brooks received one letter while playing soccer with the Comanche team. OUTLOOK: Looking to wrap up his collegiate wrestling career on a high note, three-time NCAA qualifier Michael Chandler enters his senior season with a overall record and 15 wins against league grapplers. Chandler is ranked as high as seventh in the nation by W.I.N. Magazine at 157 pounds and is expected to resume his starting position in Missouri s lineup. One of two team captains, Chandler is a well-rounded studentathlete and is Vice President of the Student Athlete Mike has a work ethic that is second to none, Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. Our staff sat down with Mike last spring. We re determined that if he maintains his focus and combines it with his commitment, there is no doubt that he ll take the top step of the podium at the NCAA Championships : One of three Tiger wrestlers to qualify for his third NCAA Championship appearance, Chandler finished the tournament with a 2-2 record. Entering the tournament as the No. 10 seed, Chander rattled off back-to-back wins by decision over David Nakasone of Lehigh, 5-3, and upset seventh-seeded Cyler Sanderson of Iowa State, 5-3, before falling to No. 2 Michael Poeta of Illinois, 7-3. Chandler s final bout of the three-day tournament came to No. 4 seed Brandon Becker of Indiana and resulted in an 8-2 loss. Prior to Nationals, Chandler began his run through the 2008 Big 12 Championships with a spotless 4-0 league record, earning the No. 1 seed. Following a 5-2 win by decision over Oklahoma State s Newly McSpadden in the semi-finals, Chandler met with Sanderson of ISU and suffered a 6-5 loss to finish the day in second place. Throughout his junior campaign, Chandler tallied a 25-6 record that included 10 wins over nationally-ranked opponents. Chandler s biggest upset of the campaign came Dec. 1 at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational. Taking on then-no. 2 Craig Henning of Wisconsin, Chandler pinned the Badger in 3:03. The win by fall was Chandler s first of two on the season. Opening his season Nov. 10 against Hofstra, Chandler earned a 15-6 win by major decision over Johnny Bonilla-Bowman and went on a 12-match win streak. Eight of Chandler s wins came by eight or more points : Earning a 6-5 win by decision over Oklahoma s Will Rowe in the third-place match of the Big 12 Championships in Columbia, Mo., Chandler received his first automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Chandler went 3-2 on the National stage, taking a round one win over Kurt Gross of Kent State, 7-5. After suffering a loss to Bubba Jenkins of Penn State, Chandler quickly rebounded with a win by fall over Tyler Sherfey of Boise State in 2:23. Continuing through the wrestle-backs, Chandler topped ninth-seeded Chris Oliver of Nebraska 11-2, an opponent he had fallen to twice during regular season competition. Chandler s run at a top-eight finish came to an end at the hands of Ryan Hluschak of Drexel, when he lost, Finishing the Big 12 Championships with a 2-1 record, Chandler suffered an opening round loss to Oliver, 3-2, but won back-to-back victories against Oklahoma State s TigerStyle-22 Newly McSpadden (7-2) and Rowe of Oklahoma. Competing at the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Cliff Keen National Duals, Jan. 14, Chandler helped Missouri to a 27-9 victory over then No. 3 Oklahoma State. Wrestling McSpadden, Chandler won the decision, 4-2. Chandler finished sixth at the 25th annual Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational, helping Missouri to its first Vegas Invitational title in program history. Additionally, Chandler took fourth at the Southern Scuffle in Greensboro, N.C., and second at the Missouri Open : The first Missouri redshirt freshman in two years (Ben Askren, 2004) to qualify for the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships, Chandler fell short of All-American honors after going 1-2 against three of the top-six wrestlers in the nation. Opening against fourth-ranked Matt Lebe of West Virginia, unseeded Chandler locked up a 3-2 victory to advance in the championship bracket. Battling with eventual 2006 NCAA Champion Ben Cherrington of Boise State, Chandler lost an 8-1 decision to fall to the consolation bracket, where he was eliminated by sixth-ranked Brandon Becker of Indiana, Chandler made his first NCAA appearance after earning one of eight wild card bids from the Big 12 coaches. Finishing fourth at the Big 12 Championships, March 4, in Ames, Iowa, Chandler proved to be one of the hottest wrestlers at 157 pounds and owned 18 wins heading into the NCAA Championships. In tournament action, Chandler finished second at the Missouri Open Nov. 20. A consistent starter at 157 pounds, Chandler collected four wins over Big 12 opponents, including a fall over then-no. 17 Chris Oliver of Nebraska in 2:15 at the Big 12 Championships : Chandler pinned his first collegiate opponent in the second match of the Lindenwood Open Nov. 4, defeating Luke Purne of Meramec in 47 seconds. Chandler recorded three falls and two technical falls on the season. A member of the 157-pound weight class, Chandler placed in the top six of three tournaments, including a second-place finish at the Oklahoma Open on Nov. 27, and compiled a record for the year. HIGH SCHOOL: A member of the Northwest High School Class of 2004, Chandler finished second at the Missouri State High School Championships his senior year (2004) at 152 pounds. Chandler was named the Most Valuable Player in 2004 and was selected to the All-St. Louis Team for his skills on the mat. Coached by Bob and Ron Wilhelm, Chandler was a member of the Lion honor roll and played three years of football, earning four letters before graduation. PERSONAL: Michael Chandler is the son of Michael and Betty Chandler and has two brothers, Matthew (18) and Eric (20) and one sister, Danielle (31). Chandler was born April 24, 1986, in High Ridge, Mo., and is majoring in personal finance management services with a minor in real estate.

Garrity is expected to compete at 174 pounds for the season. Over the years, Joey has competed in our lineup in several weight classes, Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. He s our best utility wrestler. The problem is that Joey has always been surrounded by All-Americans who have just edged him out for the starting spot in our lineup. His season ended last year with knee surgery and he s been preparing this summer to work his way back into the practice room : Competing at 174 pounds, Garrity began his season Nov. 11 at the Central Missouri Open in Warrensburg, Mo., with an 8-6 win by decision over McKendree s Josh Bryant. Riding a four-match win streak, Garrity took second at the tournament, his highest tournament finish of the season. Garrity recorded his highest finish ever at the Missouri Open with a sixth-place showing on Nov. 18. Opening the tournament with an 18-5 win by major decision over Lindenwood s Matt Burns, Garrity followed with a 3-1 win over Illinois Ben Friedl : Garrity took second at the Central Missouri State University (CMSU) Open Nov. 12 after falling to teammate Ben Askren in the championship round finals. Wrestling at 174 pounds, Garrity ended the season with eight wins, including a season opening win by fall over Tom Edwards (McKendree) in 5:33, two technical falls and an 11-2 major decision over Antione Love of Ohio. Garrity made his third career start in the Tiger lineup Jan. 13 at the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Cliff Keen Duals in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Wrestling against eventual National Champion Jake Herbert, Garrity suffered a hard-fought loss. Garrity reemerged in Missouri s lineup Feb. 4 when the Tigers took on Oklahoma in Norman, but fell to 0-2 in dual competition : Wrestling in 42 matches, Garrity collected 21 victories and claimed the Missouri Valley Open title at 184 pounds, Feb. 4. A redshirt freshman, Garrity competed at 174, 184 and 197 pounds. Competing in 12 duals for the Tigers, Garrity had two extra-point wins, a 17-0 technical fall over Dan McGee of CMSU and an 8-1 major decision in his final bout of the year against Kane Smith of UNC-Greensboro. Wrestling at the Lindenwood Open, Oct. 29, Garrity opened the season with a 3-0 shutout of Brandon Wyms of McKendree College, finishing the day in third place. One month later, Garrity finished fourth at the CMSU Open : Garrity opened his redshirt season at 174 pounds by pinning Emmett Wilson of Lindenwood in 1:59. Garrity won five matches Nov. 21 in the Hearnes Center, finishing third at the Missouri Open. Wrestling a ranked opponent for the first time in his young career, Garrity lost by fall to E.K. Waldhaus of Oklahoma (No. 10) on Feb. 5. Garrity closed out the season by grappling his way to fourth-place finishes at the Roger Denker Open, Jan. 15 and the Missouri Valley Open, Jan. 29. HIGH SCHOOL: Garrity was a member of the Orion wrestling team and was coached by Bob Milton. Wrestling at 171 pounds, the Charger finished fourth at the Illinois State Championships as a junior (2003) and helped his team to three state qualifications his freshman (2001) junior (2003) and senior years (2004). Garrity closed his high school campaign with a record and was named the senior Athlete of the Year, as well as the wrestling and track Most Valuable Player. PERSONAL: The son of Tim and Steph Garrity, Joey was born Aug. 14, 1985, and has two sisters, Ellen (17) and Katie (14). Garrity s father, Tim, was a member of the track team at Augustana College. An explosive wrestler, Hoehn has developed his mat skills and increased his strength in the off season. Marcus had a great summer and came back for the fall ready to compete at 141 pounds, Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. He had a few tough onepoint losses last year to some top-ranked guys. We re working to get him prepared and focused on making the turn and change the losses into big wins : Missouri s 141-pound starter, Hoehn stepped into the lineup Nov. 9 and held off Rider s Fred Rodgers, 6-1, to record his first dual victory of the season. Hoehn finished the year with three dual wins including a 3-1 decision over Indiana s Scott Kelly and a 9-3 decision over Cornell s Eric McGill. Wrestling tough opponents at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational, Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, Hoehn finished the two-day tournament in seventh place with a 6-2 mark. Hoehn notched back-to-back wins and advanced through the championship bracket before falling to eventual national champion J. Jaggers of Ohio State, 4-2. Hoehn s seventh-place finish came after a hard-fought match with Boise State s Levi Jones that resulted in a 6-3 win. The Tiger grappler made his first Big 12 Championship appearance March 8 in Stillwater, Okla., but suffered two straight losses to finish the tournament in fifth place : Taking first at the Missouri Valley Open on Feb. 3, Hoehn was a perfect 3-0 on the day, opening with a fall in 1:23 over Ryan Johnson of Missouri Baptist. Hoehn wrestled at 141 pounds for the Tigers and made is 12th career dual start Feb. 14, at home against Ryan Williams of Old Dominion. Unable to overcome his Monarch opponent, Hoehn fell, 9-3, ending his season with a 10-7 overall record. Two of Hoehn s bouts at the Dec. 3 University of Northern Iowa (UNI) Open were forced into overtime. Hoehn split the two matches, 1-1, winning the first bout, 2-1 and dropping the second, : Wrestling primarily at 149 pounds, Hoehn was 5-6 in dual action recording a fall in 4:27 over Elias Johnson of Arizona State at the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) National Duals in Cedar Falls, Iowa, Jan. 15. Taking on Big 12 opponent Ryan Davis of Nebraska in Lincoln, Hoehn held on for a 5-3 victory, his only win of the season over a league opponent : Opening his collegiate career with a win, Hoehn beat Josh Hauk of Meramec, 3-2, Nov. 4 at the Lindenwood Open. With the win, Hoehn finished the day in third place. Hoehn earned the first fall of his career Nov. 14, pinning Kevin Brake of McKendree in 5:20. Competing at 141 pounds in open meets during his redshirt season, Hoehn placed in the top five at five tournaments, including a third-place finish at the Oklahoma Open, Nov. 27. HIGH SCHOOL: Hoehn won the Missouri State title at 130 pounds his junior year (2003), finishing second as a sophomore (2002), third as a senior (2004) and sixth as a freshman (2001). Coached by Mark and John Krause, Hoehn and his Farmington High School team took Missouri state titles in 2001 and 2002 and were named among the top-100 wrestling schools in the nation his freshman year (2001). Crowned Freestyle State Champion in 2004, Hoehn finished sixth at Senior Nationals in Cleveland, Ohio, earning All-America honors for his performance. Topping the school record book with most career wins (163), Hoehn played football and baseball and was a member of the Knights honor roll. PERSONAL: Born Aug. 10, 1985, in Farmington, Mo., Hoehn is the son of Matt and Joanne Hoehn and has two sisters, Marissa (20) and Natalie (14) and one brother, Nicholas (18). Now, in his senior season, the Tiger wrestler will move down one weight class to 174 pounds for the first time of his career. Jordan is one of three returning All- Americans and has the potential to become just the fourth Missouri wrestler to earn All-America accolades in more than one weight class. The last Tiger wrestler to earn multiple All-America honors in two weight classes was Matt Pell in 2006 and With 88 wins to his name, Jordan is a mere 12 wins away from becoming the 15th wrestler to enter Missouri s 100-win club. Jordan is ranked fourth in the nation in the annual preseason poll. In addition to his skills on the mat, Jordan is the president of the Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC), the third Missouri wrestler in five years to hold the title of president. Raymond has accomplished a lot at Missouri, but he hasn t achieved his ultimate goal of winning a national title, Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. He s a guy who does everything right, both on and off the mat. Our staff is confident that this is the year that he makes it to the final bout of the National Tournament and wins it all. Raymond is wrestling at 174 pounds this year, which is a more comfortable and natural weight for him. I expect him to excel in the lower weight class : Rebounding from an uncharacteristic fourth place finish at the March 8, Big 12 Championships, Jordan collected his first All-America honor in his third NCAA Tournament appearance March 22, when he took fifth at 184 pounds. Jordan finished the three-day tournament with a 4-2 record that included an opening-round win by technical fall in 5:30 over Matthew Gevelinger of Brown, Managing three straight wins in the championship bracket, Jordan suffered a one-point loss in overtime to eventual National Champion Mike Puccilo of Ohio State, 2-1. Jordan s fifth-place victory came in overtime, 6-4, over Iowa s seventh-seeded Phillip Keddy. Jordan recorded a nine-match and 12-match win streak throughout the season and went 12-1 in dual competition and 4-0 against league grapplers. Ranked fourth in the nation, Jordan defeated three of the nation s top-five wrestlers, outscoring his three opponents, Jordan claimed 12 of his 26 victories by major decision, technical fall, or fall and opened the season with a 22-7 win by technical fall over 12th-ranked Doug Umbehauer of Rider. Six of Jordan s first 10 wins on the season were bonus point victories. Wrestling at the Missouri Open, Jordan finished the day in fourth. Jordan competed at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational and took third : Making his second appearance at the NCAA Championships, Jordan was 2-2 in the three-day tournament, winning his first two matches before dropping back-to-back losses. Jordan, seeded fifth, opened the first day of competition with a 4-2 decision over Trevor Brandvole of Wisconsin and followed with a 3-2 victory over Rocco Caponi of the University of Virginia. Jordan s first loss came to Tyrel Todd, Michigan s fourth-seeded grappler at 184 pounds, by TigerStyle-26 a score of 8-3. In Jordan s final match of the tournament, he lost by a score of 6-3 to eventual All-American Louis Caputo of Harvard. Before traveling to Auburn Hills for the NCAA s, Jordan improved on his second place Big 12 finish from one year prior by earning his first Conference title, March 3 in Columbia, Mo. Jordan was one of two Tiger starters to finish the campaign with a perfect dual record against league opponents. Jordan, 4-0, won two of his Big 12 bouts by major decision (Levi Wofford of Nebraska and Josh Hinton of Oklahoma) and two by two-point decisions. Jordan suffered only four losses on the season prior to the NCAA tournament, two coming to higher ranked opponents. Jordan carried a 21-match win streak throughout his sophomore campaign, with eight of his 21 wins decided by eight or more points and two ending early by way of fall. Jordan s streak began Dec. 9 with an 11-8 decision over Christian Sinnott of Central Michigan. Jordan finished as high as first in tournament competition (Missouri Open), also taking second at the Southern Scuffle and sixth at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational : One of seven Tigers to qualify for the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships, Jordan went 2-2 at the three-day tournament. In his first NCAA appearance, Jordan suffered a one-point loss to Paul Bradley of Iowa but rebounded with a 7-1 decision over Eastern Illinois Greg Perz and 10-5 decision over Greg Gifford of Fresno State. In what became his final bout of the tournament, Jordan fell 7-2 to Alex Camargo of Kent State. Jordan earned an automatic berth to the NCAA Championships after finishing second at 184 pounds in the Big 12 Championships in Ames, Iowa. Besting then No. 11 Vince Jones of Nebraska (11-10), Jordan advanced to the title bout where he fell 4-2 to then No. 6 Kurt Backes. Jordan finished his campaign with a 10-8 record against ranked opponents, upsetting No. 2 Paul Bradley (Iowa) and No. 8 C.B. Dalloway (Arizona State) in back-to-back wins at the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) National Duals in Cedar Falls, Iowa, Jan. 14 and 15. Making his collegiate wrestling dual debut Nov. 11 against Larry Ozowara of Stanford, Jordan pinned the Cardinal in 3:59. Jordan held a six-match win streak between Nov. 13 and Dec. 2, in which he won three bouts over two nationally ranked opponents. During the course of the season, Jordan claimed the Missouri Open title, taking third at the Central Missouri State University (CMSU) Open, eighth at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational and fifth at the Southern Scuffle : Wrestling in open meets during his redshirt season, Jordan began his collegiate career in impressive fashion, winning his first eight matches. Jordan placed in the top six in each of the six tournaments he wrestled, winning the Lindenwood Open, Nov. 4. The 165-pound wrestler began the University of Northern Iowa Open, Dec. 5 by pinning his first three opponents before dropping his next two matches and finishing in fifth place. Over the past few years, Sherry has wrestled in the 149, 157 and 165-pound weight class but will close out his collegiate wrestling career competing at his more natural weight class, 149 pounds. Andrew has a lot of passion not just for the sport of wrestling, but for Missouri wrestling in particular, Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. No matter what the season brings his way, Sherry always pushes through with determination and strength. He s dropped down this season and will wrestle at 149 pounds, which is his more natural competition weight. He should challenge for a spot in the lineup : Finishing his junior season with a 16-9 record, Sherry took sixth at the Missouri Open on Nov. 18. Sherry dropped a hard-fought opening round match, but bounced back in the consolation bracket, recording three-straight wins before falling to Mike Horton of Indianapolis, 6-4. Between his Jan. 18 and Feb. 2 tournament appearances, Sherry recorded six-straight wins, with three marked as technical falls and one as a major decision. Sherry wrestled at 165 pounds in Missouri s Feb. 10 dual against Oregon State : Opening his sophomore campaign with a fall over Tyler Babcock of Lindenwood at the Central Missouri State University (CMSU) Open, Nov. 12, Sherry went on to finish the season two wins shy of his then-career-high (12). Five of Sherry s 10 wins on the season came by fall, the fastest clocked in 1:10 over Derek Royster of the Citadel Dec. 30 at the Southern Scuffle. Wrestling in four tournaments throughout the season, Sherry finished as high as fifth at the Missouri Open, Nov : Sherry claimed two top-eight finishes at tournaments in his redshirt freshman season with the Tigers. Finishing the Lindenwood Open with a 4-3 record, Sherry took sixth on Oct. 29, opening his campaign with back-to-back major decisions, (11-2 and 16-1) at 149 pounds. On Nov. 13, Sherry finished sixth at the CMSU Open, again recording back-to-back major decision victories (15-2 and 11-3). HIGH SCHOOL: Graduating from Pittsburgh Central Catholic High School in Sewickley, Pa., Sherry (145) had a second place showing at the Pennsylvania State Wrestling Championships his senior year (2004), improving from an eighth place finish his junior year (2003). Sherry accumulated a career TigerStyle-28 record and was named to the 2004 Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League for his achievements on the mat and in the classroom. Wrestling at 197 pounds, Askren earned top honors in 2007 and Only older brother, Ben Askren, has recorded more honors, with three Big 12 titles. Askren earned his first All- America honor after finishing seventh at the 2008 NCAA Championships in St. Louis. Ranked as high as fifth in the nation, Askren is a two-time National qualifier and owns a 54-7 overall record (.920 winning percentage) and 11-2 mark against Big 12 opponents (.850 winning percentage). Max s summer consisted of training with Ben in preparation for the summer Olympics in Beijing, China, Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. He was at training camps and practiced daily with Ben. The experience was great for Max. It really allowed him to grow as a person and as a wrestler. Max and our staff expect nothing less than a national title this year : Entering the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships with only two losses on the season, both to top-10 ranked wrestlers, Askren finished the three-day event with a 4-2 record, good enough for a seventh-place finish in the 197-pound weight class and his first career All-America accolade. Askren, seeded fifth, opened the tournament with back-to-back wins by major decision over Joe Fagiano of Indiana (15-5) and Daren Burns of UNC- Greensboro (15-5). Askren s seventh-place win came over Big 12 opponent Craig Bertolino, 11-9, in overtime. Askren managed a 15-match win streak that began Dec. 16 with his 4-3 win over then-no. 10 Matt Koz of UTC and ended at the NCAA Championships, March 21, in a one-point loss. Askren became only the fourth wrestler in program history to earn two conference titles, doing so March 8 in Stillwater, Okla., with his 8-3 win over Nebraska s Craig Brester. Askren opened the tournament with a 6-3 win in the semifinals over ISU s Bertolino. In tournament competition, Askren was one of four Tigers to claim a Missouri Open Title, and took second at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational. In Askren s first 10 matches of the season, five came by fall, the fastest clocked at 2:24 over David Crowell of Pittsburgh, Nov. 30. TigerStyle : Making his first NCAA appearance as the No. 1 seed at 197 pounds, Askren suffered back-to-back losses, only his second and third on the season, to fall from All-America contention. Suffering a one-point loss to Brandon Halsey of Cal-Bakersfield, 5-4, in the opening round Askren was unable to rebound and fell to Eric Lapotsky of Bucknell, 5-2, in his first wrestle-back attempt. Prior to the National event, Askren held a 28-1 record on the season owning a 25-match win streak before falling to then No. 7 Kurt Backes of Iowa State in 3:51. Askren owned the best Missouri freshman record in over 10 years and won seven of his bouts by fall and two by technical fall. Earning his first Big 12 title at 197 pounds, March 3 in Columbia, Mo., Askren won backto-back matches over Backes, 8-7, and Nebraska s Craig Brester, 3-2. With the title, Askren became the first redshirt freshman Tiger since older brother Ben to win a Big 12 title in his first year of collegiate competition. Askren won his first collegiate match as a member of the Tiger starting lineup Nov. 16, dropping All-American J.D. Bergman of Ohio State, 8-4. Three days later, Askren took down his second top-five opponent, Joel Flaggert of Oklahoma, 2-1 at the Missouri Open, eventually claiming the tournament title. Winner of the 197 pound Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational individual title as well as the Missouri Open and Southern Scuffle, Askren was named Big 12 Wrestler of the Month in November. Askren won two of his league bouts by major decision (Craig Brester of Nebraska and Jared Shelton of Oklahoma State) and one by fall (Jared Shelton of Oklahoma State at the National Wrestling Coaches Association, NWCA, Cliff Keen Duals) : Redshirting his first year of collegiate wrestling, Askren competed in eight tournaments finishing first in four and among the top four in the remaining four. Askren opened his career with a nine-match win streak including his first win of the season, a pin of Humberto De La Osa of Waubonesee Community College in 2:40. Dominating at the Lindenwood and Central Missouri State University (CMSU) Open, Askren claimed back-to-back tournament titles before finishing third at the Missouri Open, Nov on the day, Askren s only loss came to then-11th-ranked Tyrone Byrd of Illinois. Finishing second at the Oklahoma Open, third at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) Open and fourth at the Southern Scuffle Dec. 30 in Greensboro, N.C., Askren capped off his season with back-to-back first place finishes at the Dan Gable Open and Missouri Valley Open. Askren was 3-2 in his meeting with ranked opponents, besting All-American and then No. 2 Joel Flaggert of Oklahoma in a 7-3 decision Nov. 13 at the CMSU Open. Of his 29 wins on the season, 14 came by fall with one by technical fall. Askren s fastest pin of the season was clocked at 38 seconds against Jim Gibson of Edinboro, Nov. 20. Over the summer, Askren competed in and finished first at the FILA Junior World Team Trials in Colorado Springs, Colo., June 9. Wrestling at pounds, Askren held off Cavalier Wrestling Club grappler Brent Jones, in the best-of-three series to claim the title and an opportunity to compete at the FILA Junior World Championships, Aug. 29-Sept. 3, in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Winning the series against University of Virginia incoming recruit Brent Jones by scores of 5-4, 4-0 in the first match and 5-4, 6-0 in the second bout, Askren wore down Jones and advanced to the championship bout after pinning Corey Morrison (Ohio International/Ohio State) in 1:13. Earlier in the day, Askren won by technical fall over Thor Moen (Sunkist), 6-0 and 7-1. HIGH SCHOOL: The second Askren coached by John Mesenbrink at Arrowhead High School, the Warhawks took home the 2005 Division 1 Wisconsin State Championship Title at 189 pounds. Askren also helped lead his team to a second-place state finish. As a junior (2004), Askren placed third at state, but achieved a second-place finish at the Junior National Championships after finishing fourth as a sophomore (2003). Magazine. Of the grapplers ranked ahead of him, Ellis has competed against all four. In the past, Ellis consistently weighed in around 240 pounds but has bulked up for the start of his junior campaign. Ellis won 21 matches as a sophomore, nine by fall, one by technical fall. Mark had a great spring and summer training at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. He s put on 20 pounds and is up to 260 pounds. In addition to bulk, Mark s added strength. He wrestles like a 125-pounder and he s a very talented heavyweight. He s definitely one to watch for at the National Tournament : Missouri s first heavyweight since 1995 to make back-to-back appearances at the NCAA Championships, Ellis made his second National tournament trip March 20, Ellis finished the three-day event with a 3-2 mark that included an opening round win, 5-4, over Illinois John Wise. Competing at the Big 12 Championships March 8, in Stillwater, Okla, Ellis finished third. Ellis opened the Big 12 tournament with a 5-1 win by decision over Oklahoma s Nathan Fernandez, then dropped a 3-1 loss to David Zabriskie (Iowa State), but quickly rebounded with a 3-1 win over Nebraska s Jon May. Consistently ranked among the top-20 in the nation, Ellis wrestled eight of the nation s top-20 heavyweight grapplers, pinning then-no. 13 Zach Sheaffer in 49 seconds Dec. 1 at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational, his fastest fall of the season. Ellis finished the prestigious tournament in seventh place with a 6-2 record. In his first three matches of the season, Ellis recorded a fall in 2:18 over Peter Reid of Rider, a win by technical fall, 21-6, in 6:39 over Hofstra s James Guerrin and a fall in 55 seconds over Alexander Williams of Indianapolis. Ellis doubled his previous career high mark for pins, nine, three coming consecutively in his Dec. 1, Dec. 16 and Dec. 19 matchups : Missouri s first heavyweight in four years to qualify for the NCAA Championships, Ellis went 1-2 at the tournament earning an opening round win over A.J. Brooks of Clarion, 8-3. Ellis suffered his first loss at the hands of fourth-seeded and eventual third-place finisher Dustin Fox of Northwestern, 6-5. In his first year as a member of Missouri s starting lineup, Ellis finished his campaign with a record that included four wins by fall and four by major decision. Ellis qualified for the NCAA Championships after taking third at the Big 12 tournament, March 3 in Columbia, Mo. After suffering a 4-0 shutout by then 16th-ranked Jared Rosholt of Oklahoma State in the opening round, Ellis rattled off two consecutive wins to take third in the tournament. Ellis first win of the day came in the form of a 12-3 major decision over Cameron Browne of Nebraska. Opening his redshirt freshman campaign, Ellis took on Corey Morrison of Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio and won by fall in 3:22, helping the Tigers to a 29-9 win over the Buckeyes. Competing at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational tournament, Ellis finished in sixth : One of two Tigers to wrestle at heavyweight, Ellis used his redshirt and finished the season with a 22-9 record in tournament competition. Finishing first in the freshman/sophomore division of the fifth annual Missouri Open, Ellis was a perfect 5-0 on the day holding off John Wise (Illinois) 4-3 in the championship bout. In other tournament action, Ellis took third at the Lindenwood Open, Oct. 29, shutting out two of his opponents and outscoring the opposition, In his final outing of the season, Ellis finished fourth at the Roger Denker Open, Jan. 21. Ellis went 3-2 dropping both losses by a single point. Five of Ellis 22 wins were by shutout with eight of his victories tabbed for extra points. HIGH SCHOOL: A two-sport standout at Raymore-Peculiar High School, Ellis helped the Panthers wrestling team to two second-place finishes at the Missouri State Championships. Wrestling at 215 pounds for Head Coach Paul Barbarick, Ellis earned the Missouri State title as a senior (2005). Competing at the Brut-Adidas Folkstyle Nationals as a junior (2004) and the National High School Coaches Association as a senior, Ellis earned recognition as a two-time All-American. Marable finished third at the 2008 NCAA Championships and is expected to improve on his 27-4 record from one year ago. All four of Marable s losses came to wrestlers that have graduated and all came by four points or less. Marable is one of two Missouri Big 12 Champions and looks to defend his title at the 2009 league championships in Lincoln, Neb. Marable finished last season with a spotless 4-0 record against his Big 12 foes. Nick had a breakout season last year, Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. To the outside world it was a great run at Nationals for Nick. But to Nick and our staff, we weren t fully satisfied with the final result. We know, and he knows, what he s capable of accomplishing, and that s a national title. Nick is a fierce competitor and he s tough to takedown. It wouldn t surprise me in the least if he refuses to give up a takedown all season : In his first run through the 2008 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships, Marable finished the highest of his teammates at third in the 165-pound weight class. Finishing the tournament with a 5-1 record, Marable recorded three straight wins before falling to eventual National Champion Mark Perry of Iowa, 4-2, in the semifinals. Marable battled through the consolation bracket and won back-to-back bouts against eighth-seeded Moza Fay of Northern Iowa and fourth-seeded Mack Lewnes of Cornell to earn his first All-America honor. The Tigers eighth Big 12 Champion in program history, Marable collected his first conference title March 8, by holding off Nebraska s Stephen Dwyer, 3-2, in the finals. Earlier in the afternoon, Marable recorded a 5-2 win over No. 8 Jon Reader of Iowa State. Marable was one of three Tiger grapplers to enter the league tournament with a perfect 4-0 record and No. 1 seed. Throughout his sophomore season, Marable wrestled 12 of the nation s top 20 ranked wrestlers at 165 pounds and went 13-4 record against ranked grapplers. Marable s four losses all came to then No. 1-ranked wrestlers, Eric Tannenbaum of Michigan (7-4), Keith Gavin of Pittsburgh (7-3) and twice to Perry (3-2 and 4-2). Marable wrestled at 174 pounds in his match with Gavin. Marable recorded a 14-match streak in which the Tiger never gave up a takedown (Dec. 19-March 21). Sixteen of Marable s 31 matches were determined by two or fewer points, with Marable taking the win in 14. Marable won the Missouri Open title and finished second at the prestigious Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational : Wrestling between 157 and 165 pounds, Marable had an impressive season in which he went 26-8 and made seven starts in Missouri s lineup. Marable took four top-four finishes in tournament action, finishing first at the Central Missouri State University (CMSU) Open. Entering Missouri s lineup for the first time on Dec. 10, Marable managed a 9-6 win over Rocky Cozart of Michigan State. Marable made two appearances at the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) National Duals, knocking off 19th-ranked Jeremy Larson of Minnesota, 5-3, in the Tigers championship round dual. Marable recorded back-to-back conference wins over Oklahoma State s Newly McSpadden (4-2) and Oklahoma s Will Rowe (6-4) : Finishing his redshirt season with 22 wins, Marable took third in three tournaments. Marable opened and closed his season with wins, and recorded two six-match win streaks. Shutting out Mike Colfax of Missouri Valley College, at the Lindenwood Open, Marable suffered a loss to Miguel Gutierrez (Lindenwood), but rebounded with four straight wins to finish third. Four of Marable s wins on the season came in the form of a fall, with three recorded in the first period. Taking on two wrestlers from Oklahoma, Marable won both matches, the first against Erik Ford (14-3) with his final match against Will Rowe won, 7-6. HIGH SCHOOL: Wrestling for Christian Brothers High School in Memphis, Tenn., Marable finished in the top three at the Tennessee State Championships all four years of high school, garnering the title at 152 pounds as a junior (2004) and 160 pounds as a senior (2005). Wrestling at 145 pounds during his sophomore campaign, Marable won the 2003 Cadet National Championship, a feat that helped him earn the Tennessee Outstanding Wrestler of the Year award. A three-sport athlete, Marable received eight letters from the Purple Wave for his participation in wrestling, football and basketball. Perry weighs in around 290 pounds and is one of the strongest competitors on the squad. Tyler had a solid season of wrestling in open tournaments last year, Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. He s been training hard and even owns the team squat record. He s gained strength and bulked up to 295 pounds. He s really an imposing figure on the mat : Wrestling as a true freshman during the campaign, Perry and the Missouri coaching staff agreed to use the season as a redshirt year in which the Tiger could gain weight and improve his skills on the mat. By the close of his redshirt season, Perry had placed in four tournaments, his highest finish coming at the Roger Denker Open on Jan. 18, as well as at the Missouri Valley College Open on Feb. 2, where he took third at both tournaments. While wrestling to a third-place finish at the Roger Denker Open, Perry defeated Bobbie DeLeon from Missouri Valley College by a 16-0 technical fall in 3:36. Perry collected his second top-three finish with a 4-2 decision of Dan Moore (McKendree) at the Missouri Valley College Open. Six of Perry s 22 wins were recorded by fall, the fastest clocked at 25 seconds when the Tiger pinned Mark Skogrand of Missouri Valley College at the Roger Denker Open : Competing in his first collegiate year of wrestling, Perry made his dual debut, Jan. 13 at the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) National Duals in Cedar Falls, Iowa, after regular starter Mark Ellis was forced out by injury. Taking on Ben Reiter of Penn, Perry suffered a 2-0 loss before falling to third-ranked All-American Dustin Fox of Northwestern, 5-0. Perry s final dual appearance of the season pit him against two-time National Champion Cole Konrad, where he fell victim to the Minnesota grappler in 2:13. In tournament competition, Perry finished fourth at the Missouri Valley Open, Feb. 3. Perry opened the all-day tournament with back-to-back wins by decision. HIGH SCHOOL: Lettering three times in wrestling at Hannibal High School, Perry brought an impressive resume to Mizzou. Wrestling at 275 for three years, Perry won the state championship his junior season (2005) and never finished below third in the state rankings, finishing second in the state of Missouri his senior year (2006). Primus wrestled at 141 pounds as a true freshman and moved up one weight class last year gaining valuable tournament experience at the 149-pound weight class. In two years, Primus has pinned 34 of his opponents, 14 recorded last year as a redshirt. Ashtin did a lot of maturing in his redshirt season, Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. He wrestled at 141 pounds as a true freshman and pinned 20 of his opponents. That s amazing for a true freshman. Our coaching staff is expecting Asthin to step right back into the lineup and make an immediate impact. We ll be counting on his points to help us in our hunt for an NCAA title : Primus, along with sophomore teammate Tyler Perry, used the season as a redshirt year. Competing in the 149-pound weight class, Primus placed among the top-six in five tournaments. Primus earned the Roger Denker Open title on Jan. 18, defeating Lorenzo Mundy from Pratt Community College by fall in 48 seconds in the semifinals. He also took first at the Missouri Valley College Open on Feb. 2, defeating then-teammate Rudy Galarza by decision, 4-3, in the championship round. Primus also recorded a second place showing at the Lindenwood Open on Oct. 27 and managed third place finishes at the Central Missouri Open on Nov. 11 and the Dana Open on Jan. 5. By the close of the season, 20 of Primus matches had been won by way of major decision, technical fall or fall. In addition, Primus closed out his campaign with a 10-match win streak in which four of his wins came by fall. Primus fastest fall of the year came in 38 seconds when he pinned Nebraska s Chris Hacker at the Dana Open : One of two freshmen to compete in their first year of collegiate wrestling, Primus recorded 30 wins, with 20 coming by way of fall. Missouri s 141-pound starter, Primus recorded a string of five straight wins by pin and managed three more falls on the season than current career falls holder Ben Askren recorded in his first season with the Tigers (17). Primus ranks third in the Missouri season falls record book and his fastest fall of the campaign came Feb. 9 against Mike Whisler of Northern Iowa in Missouri s fourth home dual of the season. Competing in five tournaments, Primus took first at the Lindenwood Open, Oct. 27 and had third-place showings at the Central Missouri State University (CMSU) Open, Missouri Open, University of Northern Iowa (UNI) Open and Southern Scuffle. HIGH SCHOOL: Wrestling at Connesville Area High School under Head Coach Tom Dolde, Jr., Primus earned back-to-back state titles in the 140-pound weight class his junior (2005) and senior (2006) seasons. In his freshman (2003) and sophomore (2004) campaigns, Primus took fourth at the Pennsylvania State Championships. Primus team, the Falcons, took the Pennsylvania State Title in 2005 and ranked sixth in the nation. A four-time letterwinner, Primus finished among the top four of his weight class at the Beast of the East tournament, finishing third in two years of competition. Our staff expects Luke to add depth to the 133-pound weight class : Luke Cherep wrestled at the 133-pound weight class and recorded an impressive victory over Alptekin Ozicilic of Lindenwood by fall in 1:28 at the Lindenwood Open on Oct. 27. Cherep also beat Ken Porter from Wisconsin by an 8-1 decision and Mitch Trahan from Lindenwood by a 9-4 decision at the Lindenwood Open : Redshirting his first year with the Tigers, Cherep finished fourth at the Missouri Valley Open, Feb. 3. After dropping his opening round bout, 9-0, Cherep rebounded with a win by technical fall, 16-0, over Jake Lehman of Central Missouri State University in 5:40 followed by a 1-0 win by decision over Brice Wasserman of Oklahoma Central. Cherep opened his season with a win by fall in 2:56 over Clayton Wise of Missouri Baptist at the Lindenwood Open. Three of Cherep s eight wins on the season were by fall, the fastest clocked at 51 seconds over Matt Korinek of Buena Vista at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) Open, Dec. 3. HIGH SCHOOL: Wrestling at Naperville Central High in Naperville Ill., Cherep wrestled at 125 pounds. He earned the school s Red and White Award as a top athlete in the school and lettered in both wrestling and football during his time as a Redhawk. PERSONAL: Luke was born on Oct. 13, 1987, to Terry and Barbara Cherep. He is the oldest of three children, with one sister, Leah (17) and one brother, Kirk (14). While at Mizzou, Cherep is studying communications. TigerStyle-36 OUTLOOK: Making his first collegiate start in the Tiger lineup Jan. 12, 2008 against Northwestern at the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) National Duals, Hannon recorded a win by shutout, 4-0. Hannon has the potential to challenge expected starter and redshirt freshman Max Shanaman, for the starting position at 149 pounds. Vince moved up one weight class and will compete at 149 pounds, Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. He had an up-and-down season last year at 141 pounds and had a key win at the National Duals over Keith Sulzer from Northwestern. Vince is an unorthodox wrestler who is difficult to coach against. I think if he maintains his focus he should do well this season : Hannon, wrestling in the 141-pound weight class, opened and closed his redshirt freshman season in the same fashion, earning a win by fall. Competing at the Lindenwood Open on Oct. 27, his first tournament appearance of the season, Hannon pinned Ryan Gudde of St. Louis Community College in 5:38, helping the Tiger to a second place finish. Hannon ended the season by facing Grant Baker from Central Missouri and pinned him in 3:50 for a third place showing. Hannon recorded sixth-place finishes at the Central Missouri Open on Nov. 11 and the Missouri Open on Nov. 18. The Tiger 141-pounder made his first career start in the Missouri lineup Jan. 12 at the NWCA National Duals in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Wrestling in the UNI Dome, Hannon defeated Keith Sulzer of Northwestern, 4-0, giving Missouri its first points of the dual : Hannon recorded three top-five tournament finishes in his first season in a Missouri singlet. Finishing second at the Lindenwood Open, Hannon rattled off three straight wins before falling to teammate Ashtin Primus in the championship round on Oct. 27. Later in the campaign, Hannon took fourth at both the Dan Gable Collegiate Wrestling Open, Jan. 13 and the Missouri Valley Open, Feb. 3. Earning 12 wins, his final victory of the season was a fall in 4:55. Hannon ended his redshirt campaign with three major decision victories, one win by technical fall and one win by fall. HIGH SCHOOL: Competing in three different weight classes during his days at Montini Catholic High School, Hannon was a member of the three-time state champion Bronco wrestling team (2004, 2005, 2006). Hannon finished fourth in the state of Illinois his sophomore (2004) year at 112 pounds taking fourth again as a senior in 2006 at 125 pounds. Making the transition from the 103 pound weight class to the 112 pound class during his sophomore season, Hannon excelled at both weights. Hannon moved up to the 125-pound weight class prior to the start of his senior season where he also proved successful, ranking 13th in the nation. Hannon earned state accolades and national recognition, earning All-America honors following his senior campaign. While in high school, Hannon compiled a record. Still plagued by a nagging injury, Pescaglia is slated to compete in the 125-pound weight class, but will likely miss the start of the season. When Tony is healthy, he s one of the top 125 pounders in the nation, Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. We re working to get him back in competition form for the upcoming season : Of the 12 matches in which Pescaglia competed, eight came against wrestlers ranked among the top-15 in the nation of the 125-pound weight class. Pescaglia opened his redshirt freshman campaign Nov. 9 with a 10-4 win by decision over Mitch Fenton of Rider. The bout marked Pescaglia s first appearance in Missouri s 10-man lineup and his first of seven wins on the season. Competing at the prestigious Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational, Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, Pescaglia earned runner-up honors after managing a 5-1 record that included a 12-6 win by decision over Wisconsin s then-sixthranked Colin Cudd and an 8-4 decision of Illinois 11th-ranked Gabriel Flores. Pescaglia s season was cut short due to a knee injury : Wrestling at 125 pounds, the lightest of the 10 collegiate weight classes, Pescaglia took first place at the Missouri Valley Open, Feb. 3 and finished fifth at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) Open Feb. 3. Pescaglia made his collegiate wrestling debut Dec. 3 at the UNI Open, opening with a 5-2 win by decision over Terrance Young of Iowa Central. Among Pescaglia s victories was an 8-6 sudden victory win over Nate Hansen of Luther College. HIGH SCHOOL: Under the direction of Head Coach J.D. Coffman, Pescaglia earned the Missouri State Title at 119 pounds his junior (2005) and senior (2006) seasons, ranking as high as seventh in the nation in A threetime team captain, Pescaglia finished sixth as a freshman (2003) and third as a sophomore (2004) earning all-state and All-America honors in each of his four years at Hickman. For his work on the mat, Pescaglia was inducted into the Hickman Hall of Fame and named a four-time Most Outstanding Wrestler, earning the most career wins (171) and pins (112) of his high school. Pescaglia s 112 falls were just two shy of the current school record (114). As a senior, Pescaglia finished the year with 51 victories, 39 of which were pins. The five-time Most Dedicated Wrestler was also awarded the Most Inspirational Award and two-time Sportsmanship Award. Pescaglia was a member of the National Honor Society and earned Academic All-State and All-America recognition in each of his years at Hickman. Last season, Saxton made one start in the Tiger lineup. Willie is an explosive wrestler, Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. He s a talented 141-pound wrestler and we re looking at him to mature and develop in the practice room this : Wrestling in the 141-pound weight class, Saxton placed at four tournaments as a redshirt freshman, recording first place finishes at the Dana Open and Missouri Valley College Open. Saxton defeated Jordan Keckler from Northwestern College, 17-4, in the championship round of the Dana Open on Jan. 5. Competing at the Missouri Valley College Open on Feb. 2, Saxton defeated Bricen Biehler by 14-3 major decision, ultimately leading to a first place finish. Saxton finished third at the Central Missouri Open on Nov. 11, and fourth at the Missouri Open on Nov. 18. The Tiger grappler made one start in Missouri s 10-man lineup, Dec. 19, at Pittsburgh. Wrestling at 141 pounds, Saxton took on Drew Headlee but lost by major decision. Saxton s season closed with a win by major decision, 12-4, and concluded an eight-match win streak in which four of his victories were by decided by major decision : Competing at the Central Missouri State University (CMSU) Open, Nov. 12, Saxton began his collegiate career with a win by major decision of Adam West of CMSU. The first of three wins on the day, Saxton went on to finish the tournament in third place. Improving on his mat skills, Saxton took fourth at the Missouri Open and second at the Missouri Valley Open, Missouri s final tournament appearance of the season. Saxton won four of his 13 bouts through bonus point victories. HIGH SCHOOL: Wrestling at Buckeye Local High School, Saxton finished his career as the Ohio State Champion at 130 pounds in 2006, improving on his third place finish at 125 pounds one year prior. Buckeye Local s first four-time state qualifier, Saxton closed out his campaign with a 48-1 overall record, setting a new record at Buckeye Local, and ranked sixth nationally. An 11-time All-American as a member of both the wrestling and football programs, Saxton earned six letters in high school. Saxton was coached by Brian Davis in wrestling. Schavrien will face fierce competition in the practice room from redshirt freshman K.C. Pescaglia, but is expected to challenge for the starting spot in the lineup in Missouri s 133-pound weight class. Schavrien is the first Division I wrestler to transfer to Missouri in over 10 years. Todd is one of the first Division I wrestlers that has transferred to Missouri since I ve been coaching here, Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. He s a quality wrestler with a lot of great experience. Todd was hampered by injury last year at Arizona State. He wanted to come to Missouri and be a part of a team that s in the hunt for the national title. Todd really wants to make a difference and he will be an important element in our 10-man lineup. Arizona State ( ): Schavrien redshirted his first year on the Sun Devils wrestling team but took gold at the FILA Junior National Championships in the 60 kg weight class over the summer of Competing during the season, Schavrien managed a record and was 13-4 in dual competitions, earning two wins over Big 12 opponents (J.R. Roman of Oklahoma and then-missouri wrestler Nick Velliquette). High School: Schavrien was a two-time state qualifier at Poway High School in California (2005, 2006) and wrestled at 125 pounds. A member of the Titan squad coached by Wayne Branstetter, Schavrien helped his team to the California State title his junior campaign (2005) finishing third at 125 pounds. Schavrien was a California State Champion his senior year at 125 pounds, and ranked fourth in the nation. Schavrien earned three wrestling letters along with multiple All-America and All-State honors. Personal: The son of Lee and Theresa Schavrien, Todd was born June 3, 1987, in San Diego, Calif. Todd has two brothers, Brian Pontalillo (28) and Nick (18). Schavrien is an interdisciplinary studies major and hopes to compete in the Olympics after college. OUTLOOK: Broadcast major Josh Skurnik is back to compete in the 184 pound weight class. Making his first start in the lineup Jan. 4, 2008, Skurnik wrestled at 197 pounds and recorded his first dual victory. Skurnik is expected to fill in to Missouri s lineup at either 184 or 197 pounds. Josh is one of the brightest individuals on the team, Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. He filled into our lineup last year against Bucknell and got a win. He s probably one of the most physical, if not the most physical, wrestler on our team this season : Wrestling in the freshman/sophomore division of the Missouri Open, Nov. 18 in the Fieldhouse, Skurnik finished the day in fifth place at 184 pounds with a 4-2 record. Skurnik opened the all-day tournament with a win by fall in 4:25 over Koshion Barfield. Called to fill into Missouri s lineup on Jan. 4, Skurnik competed at 197 pounds and collected a 9-4 win by decision over Bucknell s Charlie Wonsettler. Of Skurnik s nine wins on the season, four were decided by either major decision or fall : Skurnik won five bouts in his first year as a Tiger. Redshirting the campaign, Skurnik competed at 174 pounds and wrestled in five tournaments throughout the season. Among Skurnik s victories was a 5-0 shutout of Jeremy Goebel of Rend Lake Oct. 27 at the Lindenwood Open and a 13-7 win by major decision over Neal Kamp of Lindenwood, Feb. 3 at the Missouri Valley Open. HIGH SCHOOL: Wrestling at 171 pounds at Juanita High School in Kirkland, Wash., Skurnik finished sixth in the state his senior season (2006). As a member of the Rebels wrestling team, Skurnik lettered four times, and earned All-State Academic Honorable Mention and Scholar Athlete honors twice (2005 and 2006). Named the 2006 Most Valuable Player of his team and Hardest Working Wrestler of the Rebels squad, Skurnik was also a member of the Rebels cheerleading team. Blue Springs Bradley s Statistics: Year: ; Redshirt outlook: Sophomore Andrew Wood is recognized by the coaching staff and his teammates as one of the most passionate wrestlers on the squad. Despite suffering a season-ending injury in his redshirt season, Wood has stood by his teammates and assisted with everyday practices and daily routines. Wood is slated to compete in the 165-pound weight class for the season. Andrew is a little banged up right now, so our medical staff is working to get him back into competitive form. Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. He s very dedicated to the program, which means a lot to the team and staff : Andrew Wood wrestled only three matches in the 165-pound weight class for the season. In his first match of the season Wood defeated Sean Dietz from Missouri Baptist by a 10-0 major decision at the Lindenwood Open on Oct. 27. Wood s final victory came at the Central Missouri Open on Nov. 11 when he defeated Drew Holly from McKendree by a 7-1 decision : Wood competed in four tournaments during the campaign and pinned his opening round opponent of the Dec. 3 University of Northern Iowa (UNI) Open. Paired with Wes Gregg of Luther College, Wood flattened his opponents shoulders to the mat in 2:30. Earlier in the season, Wood managed a 7-3 win by decision over Cameron Mitchell of Truman State at the Nov. 19 Missouri Open in the Fieldhouse of the Hearnes Center. HIGH SCHOOL: Wood joins fellow Hannibal Pirate Tyler Perry as a member of the Missouri wrestling program. During his time at Hannibal High School, Wood compiled a record and earned the Missouri state title at 152 pounds his junior season (2005). Wood was a two-time All-State Academic honoree, three-time state placer and All-American in Fargo, N.D., at the Cadet Freestyle Championships. Earning four letters, Wood finished his career with a 4.00 cumulative grade-point average. PERSONAL: Andrew was born to Rodney and Shelin Wood on Aug., 19, He has a younger brother Austin (18). During his time at Mizzou he is an education major. OUTLOOK: Heavyweight Dominique Bradley used his redshirt season to improve on his wrestling skills and adjust to the collegiate style of competition. Earning two tournament titles last season, Bradley is being looked at to challenge junior Mark Ellis for a spot in Missouri s starting lineup. Bradley is the youngest Missouri heavyweight and weighs in around 275 pounds. Dom had a great year last year, Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. Since finishing up his redshirt season, Dom has put on weight, added strength and really matured into a solid heavyweight competitor. With Dom in the mix, it s going to be a heated battle to start at heavyweight : Bradley opened his redshirt freshman campaign by claiming his first collegiate win by fall over Matthew McClaughlin of Rend Lake College Oct. 27, at the Lindenwood Open. Finishing the all-day event with a 4-0 record, Bradley collected his first of two tournament titles at heavyweight, the second coming Jan. 18 at the Roger Denker Open. Bradley went on to place among the top six finishers at five tournaments including a runner-up showing at the Missouri Valley College Open. Bradley owned a nine-match and sevenmatch win streak in his first season with the Tigers and recorded four wins by fall, the fastest clocked at 45 seconds, Nov. 11, against Bobbie DeLeon of Missouri Valley College. HIGH SCHOOL: A three-time heavyweight Missouri State Champion at Blue Springs High School (2005, 2006, 2007), Bradley was ranked No. 1 in the nation in his weight class throughout the course of his senior campaign. Coached by Mike Hagerty, Bradley s Wildcat team finished third in 2005 and 2006 and took fourth during his senior campaign (2007). For his work on the mat, Bradley was named to the Asics First Team Dream Team as well as earning Blue Springs and The Examiner Wrestler of the Year honors. In addition, Bradley received four letters in wrestling and two letters as a member of the Blue Springs varsity football team. Bradley was also a member of the Wildcat track and field program. Prior to joining Missouri s squad in August, Bradley competed in the Junior Pan American Games in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, earning the gold medal in Greco and silver in Freestyle competition. Bradley also earned top honors at the Federation Internationale des Luttes Associees (FILA) Junior Championships in April, automatically qualifying for Junior Worlds. Competing as a member of the Mo-West Club Team, under Head Coach Jason Heslop, Bradley was a three-time Missouri State Freestyle/Greco Champion and earned 275 pound national champion honors in Fargo, N.D., in 2006 and As a freshman, Bradley won the Brute/Adidas National Champion title at 215 pounds, following with a similar title at 275 pounds, his junior year. Wrestling at 215 pounds in 2005, Bradley finished fourth in the freestyle tournament and second in the Greco competition in Fargo, N.D. PERSONAL: Dominique was born March 10, 1989, to Art Bradley and Peg Humphrey in Des Moines, Iowa. Bradley has one sister, Mercedes (18). Derry Area Dolan s Statistics: Year: ; Redshirt OUTLOOK: Trever Collins is expected to compete in the 184-pound weight class and is a solid work out partner for 2008 All-American Maxwell Askren. Collins is a determined wrestler and quick learner in the practice room and will likely see time in numerous tournaments throughout the season. Trever wrestled at 197 pounds last year and has moved down to the 184-pound weight class for his redshirt freshman season, Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. He has worked hard in the off season to prepare his body for the lower weight class. Trever is a tough competitor for his opponents to prepare for. He s lanky and he uses his leverage to his advantage : Collins, wrestling at 197 pounds, opened the season with a third place finish at the Lindenwood Open on Oct. 27, when he defeated Andrew Sanchez of McKendree by decision, 7-2. He also finished second at the Dana Open on Jan. 5 with a key victory over Cameron Browne, from the University of Nebraska, by decision, 3-2. Other top five finishes for Collins occurred at the Missouri Open (Nov. 18), Roger Denker Open (Jan. 18), and at the Missouri Valley College Open (Feb. 2). Collins recorded seven falls in tournament action, the final capping off his season Feb. 2 against Charlie Gibbs of Missouri Valley College. Collins pinned Gibbs in 2:54, while his fastest falls, set in 1:30, were recorded Oct. 27 and Feb. 2. HIGH SCHOOL: Coached by Jason Carter at Nixa High School, Collins was a three-time Missouri State Champion (2005, 2006, 2007) and helped his team to a fourth-place finish his senior year (2007). A member of the Eagle wrestling team, Collins earned All-America honors on four occasions (2004, 2005, 2006, 2007) and was named the Super 32 Champion in Collins earned four letters in wrestling and two while running with the cross country team. Academically, Collins was credited with a 4.0 grade-point average his senior year. Competing at the National High School Coaches Association Senior Nationals in 2007, Collins finished among the top-10 at 215 pounds, earning fourth place honors at the Junior Nationals in Additionally, Collins received the Most Outstanding Wrestler Award after taking first at the Brute/Adidas Championships at 189 pounds in Collins ranked 11th in the nation prior to beginning school at Missouri. OUTLOOK: Redshirt freshman Troy Dolan becomes the fourth Missouri wrestler in five years to earn the starting position in the Tiger s 125-pound weight class. Dolan, who won seven of his 28 matches by way of fall as a redshirt, captured two tournament titles last year. Troy made a lot of progression in his redshirt season, Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. He s dangerous on top and he s a wrestler that I believe our fans will really enjoy watching. He s a pinner and our staff expects him to make an immediate impact in our lineup : Wrestling at 125 pounds, Dolan placed among the top five of his weight class at six tournaments, including two first-place finishes. Competing at the Roger Denker Open on Jan. 18, Dolan defeated Rob Nahlik by decision, 7-0, to win his first tournament title. Dolan went on to claim the Missouri Valley College Open title on Feb. 2 when he defeated Richey Zuniga by decision, 4-2. Dolan closed the season winning nine straight matches to finish Of Dolan s 28 wins, four were earned by technical fall, seven by pin and six by major decision. Dolan finished second at the Lindenwood Open and third at the Central Missouri Open and Missouri Open. Dolan s sixth, top-six finish was a fifth-place showing at the Dana Open. HIGH SCHOOL: A member of the Trojan wrestling team at Derry Area High School, Dolan was a three-time Pennsylvania State Champion (2005, 2006, 2007), wrestling between 112 and 119 pounds. Ranked as high as sixth in the nation, Dolan claimed the 2006 Super 32 Championship title and 2005 Powerade Title at 119 pounds. Academically, Dolan was a member of the Derry Area Honor Roll and was a two-time recipient of the John Driscoll Scholar-Athlete Award. Coached by Mike Wood, Dolan was a three-time All- American (2005, 2006, 2007) and earned four letters in wrestling. Dolan also played one year on the Trojan football team. St. Charles West Hewitt s Statistics: Year: ; Redshirt OUTLOOK: Entering his fifth year as a wrestler, Dorian Henderson is still learning the sport and developing as a competitor. Henderson is expected to compete, and start, in the 184-pound weight class for Missouri. As a redshirt freshman, the sole Georgia native on Missouri s 39-man roster captured three tournament titles and managed a 21-4 record against some of the top redshirts in the country. Henderson takes over in a weight class that was occupied for three years by 2008 All-American Raymond Jordan. Considering Dorian has only wrestled for five years, it s amazing all that he was able to accomplish as a redshirt freshman, Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. What he lacks in experience, he makes up with athleticism. He s the first one in the practice room and the last one to leave at the end of the day. He s exciting to watch and he s one of the fastest wrestlers I ve ever coached at Missouri : Henderson wrapped up his redshirt season with three consecutive tournament titles in the 174-pound weight class. Wrestling at the Dana Open on Jan. 5, Henderson defeated Enock Francois from Northwestern College, 2-1, to capture his first title. Henderson followed with a 7-3 decision in the championship finals over then-teammate Ryan Sonderegger at the Roger Denker Open on Jan. 18. Henderson s final first place finish came at the Missouri Valley College Open on Feb. 2 after a 9-6 decision over Luke Borneman from Cumberland. Among Henderson s other tournament appearances, the Tiger took third at the Lindenwood Open on Oct. 27 as well as at the Missouri Open Freshman Division on Nov. 18. Henderson managed a 13-match win streak between Nov. 18 and Feb. 2. HIGH SCHOOL: Henderson was a three-time state champion at Columbus High School in Georgia (2005, 2006, 2007) and wrestled at 171 pounds. A member of the Blue Devil squad coached by Larry Morgan, Henderson s team earned the Georgia State title his junior campaign (2006) finishing runner up in Competing at Senior Nationals in 2007, Henderson finished fourth overall. Henderson later took fourth in Greco and eighth in Freestyle competition in Fargo, N.D. For his work on the mat, Henderson was the recipient of the Dave Shultz award for Georgia. Henderson received nine letters in high school as a member of the wrestling, football and track and field teams. OUTLOOK: Set to compete at 149 pounds, redshirt freshman Daniel Hewitt is one of four Tiger wrestlers that will vie for time in Missouri s 10-man lineup. Hewitt is expected to wrestle at several tournaments this season to enhance his mat skills and help him develop further in the collegiate style of wrestling. Dan is a hard-working wrestler and solid on his feet, Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. He made big improvements last year and our coaching staff expects him to further his wrestling talent this season : Hewitt wrestled in the 149-pound weight class in his first season at Missouri. His first victory came Nov. 11, with a 6-4 decision over T.J. Warner of Southern Illinois-Edwardsville while at the Central Missouri Open. Competing at the Missouri Valley College Open on Feb. 2, Hewitt recorded a 6-3 win by decision over Andy Schoultz of Cumberland College. Hewitt competed in four tournaments in his redshirt season. HIGH SCHOOL: Coached by former All-American Craig Martin at St. Charles West, Hewitt finished as high as third in the 152 pound weight class at the Missouri State Championships his senior season (2007). As a junior, Hewitt wrestled at 140 pounds and took fourth place at the Missouri State Championships qualifying for the annual competition as a sophomore in Hewitt s Warrior team finished third in the state in For his work on the mat, Hewitt earned all-conference honors on three occasions (2005, 2006, 2007) and was name to the all-state team as both a junior (2006) and senior (2007). Garrett has done a great job of working on, and improving, his mat skills in the off season, Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. He s a hard-working wrestler and is a great wrestling partner for several of our guys : Jones wrestled in the 174-pound weight class during the season. In his first match of the campaign Jones went up against Joe Hulsey of Missouri Valley College and won by decision, 1-0, while at the Central Missouri Open on Nov. 11. Jones recorded the first fall of his collegiate career on Nov. 18 at the Missouri open. Wrestling Derek Holt of Rend Lake, Jones pinned his opponent in 2:58. HIGH SCHOOL: As a member of the Odessa High School Bulldog wrestling team, Jones wrestled at 152 and 160 pounds under Head Coach Roger Offield. Jones earned all-state academic honors in 2006 and Competing at the state championships, Jones took second at 152 pounds his junior year (2006) and fourth as a senior (2007). One of six Bulldog medalists in 2007, Jones squad finished second in the Missouri Class 2 State Wrestling Tournament. A seven-time letterwinner, Jones was a member of the wrestling, football and baseball teams. PERSONAL: Born on Sept. 15, 1988, to Stan and Jenny Jones in Odessa, Mo., Jones has two sisters, Kiley (24) and Rachel (16). He plans to major in electrical engineering at Mizzou. OUTLOOK: A native of Mississippi who attended high school in Tennessee, Brad McCarter has put on weight and increased his strength to wrestle at 157 pounds for the University of Missouri. Brad will wrestle once again in the 157 pound weight class, Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. He has worked hard to develop and will push himself in the wrestling room in an attempt to make the starting lineup : Wrestling in three tournaments, McCarter earned his first win of the season Oct. 27 at the Lindenwood Open. McCarter met at center circle with Dereck Holt of Rend Lake College and pinned his opponent in 1:25. McCarter s second win of the season also came by way of fall and was recorded Nov. 11 at the Central Missouri Open against Carlton Dorsey of Oklahoma City in 1:40. HIGH SCHOOL: McCarter was a three-time state placer and junior national team member at Harding Academy in Memphis, Tenn., finishing as high as third at 145 pounds his senior year (2007). McCarter took fourth at the State Championships in 2005, earning sixth in Coached by Ron Sisson, McCarter was named Most Valuable Wrestler and captain of the Lion team twice (2006 and 2007). As a senior in 2007, McCarter received Greco State Champion honors for his work on the mat. McCarter was a five-time letterwinner. Competing with the Mid-South Wrestling Club in Germantown, Tenn., McCarter was named the Pat Nailen Scholarship Award Winner in Academically, McCarter served as the president of the National Art Honor Society. Blair Academy Shanaman s Statistics: Year: ; Redshirt OUTLOOK: Columbia, Mo., native K.C. Pescaglia is one of five redshirt freshman expected to see time in Missouri s 10-man lineup. Certified to wrestle in the 133-pound weight class, Pescaglia and sophomore transfer Todd Schavrien will battle through intense matches in the practice room to vie for the spot in the lineup. K.C. is a wirey wrestler, Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. He s got a funky wrestling style and has really developed his mat skills over the past several months. He should be in the running to start at 133 pounds for us this year : Wrestling at 133 pounds, Pescaglia placed at five tournaments as a redshirt. Pescaglia finished first at the Dana Open on Jan. 5, defeating Brian Litch from Nebraska by fall in 1:15 on his way to the title. Pescaglia also finished first at the Roger Denker Open on Jan. 18. On his run through the championship bracket, Pescaglia defeated Wade Lowe of McKendree College by fall in 3:33. Pescaglia s next highest finish came at Lindenwood on Oct. 27 where he finished second. Beginning on Jan. 12, Pescaglia went on a 10-match win streak that came to an end on Feb. 2 when he suffered a one-point loss. HIGH SCHOOL: A native of Columbia, Mo., Pescaglia wrestled for Hickman High School and was a two-time Missouri State Champion at 125 pounds. A member of the Kewpie wrestling squad, Pescaglia was coached by J.D. Coffman and finished fourth at the Missouri State Championships his sophomore campaign (2005). Finishing his high school career with a record, 111 of Pescaglia s wins were by fall. A three-time Greco Roman State Champion and one-time Freestyle State Champion, Pescaglia was a threeyear member of the Missouri Freestyle and Greco Roman National Team and was named to the 2006 Greco Roman Cadet National team. Graduating among the top six percent of his class, Pescaglia was a member of the National Honor Society and received Academic All-State and All-America honors on three occasions. Pescaglia earned four letters in wrestling. Outside of school, Pescaglia was a six-year member of the Columbia Wrestling Club led by Head Coach Mike Flanagan. PERSONAL: K.C. was born Feb. 15, 1989, to James Jr. and Cynthia Pescaglia in Columbia, Mo. He has two siblings, Tony (21) and Vince (17). Tony is a sophomore on the Missouri wrestling team and wrestles at 125 pounds. Pescaglia is majoring in accountancy. OUTLOOK: After taking a medical redshirt his freshman season, Max Shanaman returns for the campaign healthy, focused and ready to lead the Missouri lineup in the 149 pound weight class. Shanaman is a quick-thinking wrestler that should give his opponents fits. His skill in every position has developed and the Tiger grappler is expected to make an immediate impact in Missouri s lineup. The coaching staff has high expectations for Max this season, Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. He s a talented recruit and he had a great summer work out. He s currently the front runner to start at 149 pounds this year. He has solid attacks and doesn t wear down. For a freshman, Max is by far one of the most mentally and physically mature wrestlers I ve coached : Shanaman was awarded a medical redshirt due to injury. HIGH SCHOOL: A member of the Buccaneers wrestling squad at Blair Academy in Blairstown, N.J., Shanaman and his teammates earned three state titles (2004, 2005, 2006) finishing second in his senior campaign (2007). Shanaman wrestled at 135 pounds and finished third at the New Jersey State Championships in 2007, fourth as a junior (2006) and 20th as sophomore (2005). Coached by Jeff Burton, Shanaman earned All-America honors for his work on the mat as well as four letters in the sport of wrestling. Grand Ledge Wright s Statistics: Year: ; Redshirt OUTLOOK: Wrestling at 141 pounds is redshirt freshman Brandon Wiest. Wiest used the off season to develop his wrestling skills and is expected to compete in numerous tournaments throughout the campaign. If Brandon can maintain his focus throughout the course of the season, he ll be in the hunt to start at 141 pounds, Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. He s a talented wrestler with great skills : Wiest wrestled in the 141-pound weight class his redshirt freshman campaign, earning two top-six tournament finishes over the course of the year. In the freshman division at the Missouri Open on Nov. 18 Wiest walked away with a third place finish after defeating Brandon Perkins from Missouri Valley College, 8-3. Wiest met with his first Big 12 opponent on Jan. 5 at the Dana Open. Battling with Nebraska s Jered Hensley, Wiest recorded a 12-2 win by major decision, his third of four on the season. Wiest managed two wins by shutout, 4-0 and HIGH SCHOOL: Coached by Dan Hayes at Fort Zumwalt West High School, Wiest was a three-time Missouri High School runner-up (2004, 2005, 2006) at 125, 135 and 145 pounds, respectively. Wiest took third in 2007 at 145 pounds. A high school nominee for the Wendy s High School Heisman Trophy, Wiest held a 3.9 grade-point average and was a three-time academic all-conference honoree. Wiest was also a member of the Fort Zumwalt West honor roll and received four letters with the Jaguars wrestling team. PERSONAL: Born May 23, 1988, to Mike and Melissa Wiest in Independence, Mo., Brandon has one brother, Trevor (16). Wiest plans to major in business. OUTLOOK: Down one weight class from last year, redshirt freshman Patrick Wright is ready to compete at 157 pounds this season. Wright showed great improvement over the course of his inaugural season with the Tigers and promises to challenge for a starting spot in Missouri s lineup as soon as this year. Patrick has moved down one weight, and will compete at 157 pounds this year, Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. He has a hard-nosed mentality which will help him push (Michael) Chandler and (Nicholas) Marable throughout the season. I expect him to break into the lineup eventually : Wrestling at 165 pounds, Wright finished with first place tournament finishes on two occasions. Wright took first at the Missouri Open in the freshmen division on Nov. 18, defeating Bryan Wells of Campsville by a 3-1 decision in the championship round. He also finished first at the Missouri Valley College Open on Feb. 2 after defeating Kyle Reid from McKendree College, 5-0. On his way to the Missouri Valley College Open title, Wright managed a perfect 4-0 record that included back-to-back wins by fall and a 17-5 win by major decision over Blake Reed of Southern Illinois-Edwardsville. Wright finished in third place three times during the season, first at the Lindenwood Open, next at the Dana Open and finally at the Roger Denker Open. HIGH SCHOOL: A four-time state qualifier, Wright finished second at 171 pounds at the Michigan State Championships his senior season at Grand Ledge High School. In previous tournament appearances, Wright took third at 152 pounds as a sophomore (2005) and fifth at 160 pounds as a junior (2006). Coached by Tom Muir, Wright received All-America honors all three years that he placed at states and was crowned a USA Wrestling National Champion in Wright was a five-time letterwinner and a member of the Comets football team. Parkway North OUTLOOK: Freshman Taylor Crane is the third wrestler in three years to come to Missouri after finishing a solid high school career in Columbia, Mo. A product of Rock Bridge High School, Crane has been around the Missouri program for numerous years and should adjust easily into Missouri s TigerStyle wrestling system. I ve known Taylor for six or seven years, Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. I ve watched him grow up and compete and I m excited to have him join our program. He s an explosive wrestler and it will be fun to see how he progresses over the next few years. High School: A three-time Missouri top-six state finisher at 135 pounds (2006, 2007, 2008), Crane was coached by Brook Harlan at Rock Bridge High School in Columbia, Mo. Crane tallied a record in four years with the Bruins and earned Freestyle State titles his freshman (2005) and sophomore (2006) seasons. Additionally, Crane was a member of the 2005 Championship Cadet Freestyle National Dual Team and 2006 Championship Junior Grecco National Dual Team. Recognized for his ability to put his opponent on his back, Crane pinned 87 wrestlers throughout his four year career. Entering his senior season, Crane was ranked 14th in the nation by W.I.N. Magazine. Personal: The son of Rex and Lisa Crane, Taylor was born June 18, 1989, in Columbia, Mo. Taylor has two siblings, Katherine (16) and Sam (12). OUTLOOK: Cody Farinella is described as a dynamic wrestler with a lot of untapped talent. Wrestling in the 141 pound weight class, Farinella should learn a lot in Missouri s practice room and develop into a potential contender for a starting spot in Missouri s lineup. Cody is an outstanding wrestler, Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. He s very talented and we re excited to get him into the practice room and build him into a tough competitor that will vie for a spot in our starting lineup. Cody s a well-rounded athlete and we expect him to well both on the mat and in the classroom. High School: A four-time state placer, Farinella earned top honors at 135 pounds during his senior season at Parkway North High School. Farinella finished the campaign with a perfect 45-0 record, bringing his career mark to A native of Maryland Heights, Mo., Farinella wrestled in four different weight classes in high school finishing third at 112 pounds as a freshman, second at 125 pounds as a sophomore and second at 130 pounds as a junior. Farinella is a two-time runner-up at the freestyle state championships and finished third in Greco. The Parkway North Scholar Athlete of the Year, Farinella notched a 4.35 grade-point average and was named North s most outstanding wrestler all four years of high school. Farinella earned four letters in high school. Personal: The son of Joe and Pam Farinella, Cody was born Dec. 25, 1989, in St. Louis, Mo. Chapel Hill outlook: A product of Seckman High School, Jake Glore was coached by two former Missouri wrestlers and caught the attention of Tiger Head Coach Brian Smith during summer camps. Glore is likely to wrestle at 197 pounds and will use his redshirt season to compete in tournaments and enhance his mat skills. Jake was coached in high school by two former Missouri wrestlers, Cody Greene and Kevin Herron, Smith said. Cody and Kevin came up to me last season and mentioned that our staff needed to take a good look at Jake. He s a talented wrestler who has placed in all three major tournaments. He s really a sponge in the practice room. He s learning a lot from Max (Askren) and will provide Max with an excellent wrestling partner. High School: A three-time All-American, Glore earned three letters in wrestling and was a high school state finalist his senior year (2008). Glore was also a member of the Jaguars football team and earned All-District and All-Conference honors as a linebacker and fullback. In his senior year (2008), Glore took fifth in Greco and seventh in Freestyle competition in Fargo, N.D. Gregoris is a 157 pound grappler and has developed quickly in his short time at Missouri. High School: Chapel Hill High School grappler Gregoris is a threetime North Carolina State Champion, earning titles his freshman (2005), sophomore (2006) and senior (2008) season. Gregoris, ranked 19th in the nation at 152 pounds and finished his high school career with a record. The North Carolina native earned NHSCA Senior National All-America honors after finishing the tournament in fourth place. In addition, Gregoris was a Super 32 Finalist and Reno Tournament of Champions finalist. Oak Park outlook: Jacob Guerrant walked onto the Missouri wrestling team at the start of the school year and is expected to develop his mat skills while competing in various tournaments throughout the season. Guerrrant is one of eight wrestlers certified to compete in the 157 pound weight class and will add depth in the practice room. Jake walked onto our program this fall and has done a great job at practice, Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. A wrestler from Fulton, Mo., it s always nice to have local talent on the team. High School: Coached by Eric Hudson at Fulton High School, Guerrant finished fifth in the 160 pound weight class at the Missouri State Championships his senior season (2008). As a junior, Guerrant wrestled at 152 pounds and was an honorable mention at the State Championships. Guerrant earned four high school letters in wrestling as well as being voted MVP of his team multiple times. In addition to competing on the Hornet wrestling team, Guerrant was also a member of the football program. Personal: Jacob was born Aug. 5, 1988, to Tim and Marcia Guerrant in Fulton, Mo. Guerrant has one sister, Jessica (18) and is majoring in education. outlook: Ranked second in the nation as a high school grappler, Brent Haynes has entered the Missouri wrestling room and will compete in the 174 pound weight class. Haynes will provide solid backup to Missouri starter Raymond Jordan and should learn a lot in his redshirt year. Brent is not only the top wrestler out of Missouri, but he was one of the best in the nation coming out of high school, Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. Brent wrestled for one of the best high school programs in the nation and we re excited to have him in the room where we hope to further his training. High School: A member of the Northmen wrestling squad at Oak Park High School in Kansas City, Mo., Haynes and his teammates earned four state titles (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008), and finished third, sixth and ninth nationally (2006, 2007 and 2008, respectively). Haynes wrestled at 189 pounds and won state championship titles as a junior (2007) and senior (2008) and ranked as high as second in the nation by Wrestling USA and W.I.N. Magazine. Coached by Randy Smith, Gary Mayabb and Tim Rupp, Haynes finished second as a sophomore (2006) and third as a freshman (2005) at the State Championships. Haynes earned four letters in wrestling in addition to multiple All-America honors. Outside of school, Haynes was a 10-year member of the Victory Wrestling Club led by Head Coach Randy Smith and was a 2004 cadet national Greco runner-up, 2005 cadet Greco third-place finisher and fourth place freestyler. In 2006, Haynes junior season, he earned fifth place honors in Greco competition. As a junior in 2007, Haynes finished sixth in junior Greco and fourth in freestyle while competing in Fargo, N.D. In 2008, Haynes was a national champion in junior Greco and took seventh in junior freestyle and second at senior nationals. 30 Nick Hucke Freshman Pewaukee, Wis. Hartland Arrowhead 141 Pounds 125 Pounds Nathan McCormick Freshman Leawood, Kan. Blue Valley North outlook: Nick Hucke is the sixth Wisconsinite to attend Missouri in six years and has similar styles to the All-American Askren brothers, Ben and Max, having been coached by the same coach at Hartland High School. Hucke will compete in the 141 pound weight class. Nick is helping to keep our Wisconsin pipeline alive, Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. He s the third wrestler to come from Coach Mesenbrink (the other two wrestlers, Ben and Maxwell Askren). Nick has great scrambling ability and is a very physical wrestler. High School: A three-time Wisconsin state champion and first team allstate honoree, Hucke attended Arrowhead High School, the same high school as Tiger standouts Ben and Maxwell Askren. Hucke is only the second twotime state champion in school history, and only the third Arrowhead wrestler to win a state title with an undefeated record. Hucke closed out his high school career with a record. Among Hucke s 168 victories were 91 consecutive wins that he strung together throughout his perfect junior and senior campaigns. Hucke earned All-America honors after taking third in folkstyle senior nationals and fifth in freestyle in Fargo, N.D., his junior year.. Coached by John Mesenbrink at Hartland Arrowhead, Hucke was a threetime Wisconsin High School State Champion (2006, 2007, 2008) at 125, 130 and 135 pounds, respectively. Personal: Hucke was born June 9, 1989, to Robert and Barbara Hucke in Waukesha, Wis. He has three siblings, Jim (23), Brad (20) and Lindsey (16). OUTLOOK: The youngest of three McCormick boys, Nathan McCormick has followed in the footsteps of his older brothers Chris and Tyler and will compete in the 133 pound weight class for the upcoming campaign. The McCormick s are the seventh set of brothers to attend Missouri during Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith s 11 years in Columbia, Mo. This marks the seventh season that I ve had a McCormick in my wrestling room, Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. Nathan felt the good and bad of being the youngest McCormick brother. He got beat up on a lot by his older brothers (Chris and Tyler), but also learned a lot of good mat skills from them and has been around our wrestling program for many years. He has a strong passion for the sport and is a really wellrounded wrestler that I look forward to working with in the years to come. High School: McCormick was crowned the 2007 and 2008 Kansas 6A State Champion at 119 pounds his junior year and 125 pounds his senior campaign, capturing the Regional title on his way to states. A member of the Blue Valley North wrestling squad, McCormick recorded back-to-back 37-win seasons his sophomore and junior campaigns and was named to the East Kansas League (EKL) and All-Sun country first team as a junior (2007). As a senior, McCormick managed a 43-1 record, earning 35 of his 43 wins by way of fall. For his work on the mat, McCormick was named the Kansas Class 6A Outstanding Wrestler. Coached by Dylan Hitchcock, McCormick competed at 103 pounds his freshman and sophomore years and earned state qualifier and runner-up honors, respectively. McCormick received FILA Cadet All-America honors after placing fifth in the Freestyle Competition in Akron, Ohio, April 21, 2007, and is an eight-time Freestyle and Greco Kansas State Champion. McCormick was a member of the Blue Valley North Principal s Honor Roll and received four letters with the Mustangs wrestling team. Northwest 157 Pounds 157 Pounds outlook: Todd Porter is the second wrestler in five years to attend Missouri after completing a successful career at Northwest High School. Porter will compete at 157 pounds and is expected to use his redshirt season to compete in various tournaments where he will develop his wrestling skills and likely vie for a spot in Missouri s lineup in the upcoming years. Todd reminds me of a young Michael Chandler, Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. They went to the same high school, they have the same style of wrestling, they both have great athletic ability and they both have that same drive and determination to get on the mat every day. High School: Coached by Ron and Bob Wilhelm at Northwest High School in Housesprings, Mo., Porter wrestled in the Missouri High School Championships his sophomore year (2006) placing fifth at 190 pounds, and his senior year (2008) placing third at 160 pounds.
