7 SPECTATORS CODE OF BEHAVIOUR Remember that children play sport for their enjoyment, not yours. Applaud good performance and efforts from each team. Congratulate all participants upon their performance regardless of the game s outcome. Respect official s decisions and teach children to do the same. Never ridicule or scold a child for making a mistake. Positive comments are motivational. Condemn the use of violence in any form, be it by spectators, coaches, officials or players. Show respect for your team s opponents. Without them there would be no game. Encourage players to follow the rules and the official s decisions. Do not use foul language or harass players, coaches or officials. Play by the rules. PLAYERS CODE OF BEHAVIOUR Never argue with an official. If you disagree, have your captain, coach or manager approach the official during a break or after the competition. Control your temper. Verbal abuse of officials or other players, deliberately distracting or provoking an opponent is not acceptable or permitted in any sport. Work equally hard for yourself and/or your team. Your team s performance will benefit so will you. Be a good sport. Applaud all good players whether they are your team or the opposition. Treat all players as you would like to be treated. Do not interfere with, bully or take unfair advantage of another player. Co-operate with your coach, teammates and opponents. Without them there would be no competition. Play for the fun of it, and not just to please parents and coaches. 8 PASSBALL Ball size 5 basketballs. Start Command Get set (leader picks up ball) Whistle Type of Pass chest pass or shoulder pass Number in Team 8 Distances Year 3 2 metres apart (2 metres from neighbour) Year 4 63 metres apart (2 metres from neighbour) RULES: The front foot must be kept in contact with the spot before and after the ball is thrown. The feet cannot move forward of the dot at any stage. In the event of a poor pass not reaching the receiver, the receiver must retrieve the ball without interfering with any other teams (running through other teams is not permitted) and return to their spot before passing. The ball passes diagonally from player to player. When the ball is received by the last player on the dot, that player runs with ball in hand, round the 7 th dot position to the leaders spot. At the same time each team player moves across to the player s spot they have just passed to. This pattern continues until the leader is on the last spot. Leader then runs with ball in hand around 7 th dot position across the finish line. NB: Team players cannot move from their dot until the last player has received the ball. 10m X x x x Finishing Line 3m X 2m x x x C:\Users\localadmin\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\1FY9NO09\Peel Interschool Athletics Program 2016.doc page!8
