1 D6 Class System D6 is in dire need f a way t differentiate ne character frm anther. The Advantage- Disadvantage system f the new D6 system is a great step twards that, but characters are still bund t end up with the same skills with the same skill levels after a lng perid f gaming. Technical based characters will nt be any different than cmbat based characters. The new D6 Class System adds a few extra steps t Character generatin, a few mechanics t character advancement, and creates an imprtance f balance in d6. Nw a GM can measure up his NPCs and creatures up against a character party. Nw a player has a sense f advancement and develpment in his character. And nw, a tech will be mre technical than a fighter. 2 1. Character Base Archetype The first majr change is the Character Base Archetype. After the player has develped a cncept fr his character, he chses a basic Archetype fr his character. These Archetypes define the framewrk f the character s backgrund, educatin path and scial circles that he gained knwledge frm. These Archetypes apply t the character at character generatin time as well as in advancement. The Defined Limits system puts things in terms f dice and are nt directly cmpatible with this system. Characters generated by the Defined Limits system can be cnverted t this Class system, by making their archetype Basic. There are 5 Base Archetypes Arcane Basic Expert Fighter Rgue Schlar T fllw are descriptins and benefits frm each. Every Archetype has benefits and drawbacks, t balance it ut. When chsing an archetype, the character must chse an Archetype Strng-side Attribute (dented with S next t the attribute) and a Archetype Weak-side Attribute (dented with W next t the attribute). 2

3 Strng-side Attribute Fr the Strng-side Attribute the fllwing applies: At Character Generatin: Character gains +2 pips free at character generatin This Attribute must be at least 2D During Advancement Benefit: Thse skills under the Strng-side Attribute cst 1 Character Pint less t buy new r advance (at a minimum f 1 pint). Example: The Sam has a skill at 4D+2 and he wants t raise it t 5D which wuld nrmally cst 4 but if it is under his Strng-side attribute, it will cst 3 pints. Weak-side Attribute Fr the Weak-side Attribute the fllwing applies: Character Generatin Drawbacks: This Attribute can nt be any higher than 2D+2 Advancement Drawback: Thse skills under the Weak-side Attribute cst 1 mre than their nrmal cst t buy new r advance. The skills under the Weak-side Attribute can nt be advanced higher than the cntrlling attribute +2D. Als, the character has an pprtunity t chse frm a list f skills called the Autmatic Prfessinal Skill. At Character generatin, the character can chse a skill frm the list, based n the d6-genre. This skill is cnsidered a Prfessinal skill and gains 1D skill dice (r 2D if it within Strng-side Attribute). 3

4 Arcane Archetype Arcane characters are like schlars but primarily fcus their learning arund ancient and magical studies. Mst are very strng in sme extranmal pwers. They are less cmbat riented and mre intelligence riented. He is cnsidered a jack-f-all-trades; a well-runded and experienced individual. As a balancing factr fr sme f the free skills the ther Archetypes get, hwever, the basic gains 1 extra Creatin Pint. 4

5 Expert Archetype An Expert character is a prfessinal in ne particular area; a craftsman, a artisan r a mechanic. The have tls f their trade and are needed when the trappings f a civilized sciety break dwn. 7 2. Prfessinal Skills At character generatin, the character chses a certain number f skills. In this system thse are cnsidered his Prfessinal Skills. This can be dented with a P next t thse skills. Anything skill purchased after that are cnsidered Nn-Prfessinal skills. N mre than 15 skills can be chsen as prfessinal at Character generatin. Prfessinal skills cst the base cst t advance. Hwever, nn-prfessinal skills require a little mre investment. Nn-prfessinal skills cst 1 additinal character pint per die r fractin theref advanced t advance, including the initial characters pints t by new skills. If this skill happens t be within the WEAK-SIDE ATTRIBUTE, then the ttal cst extra t buy a new skill in that area is increased by 3. Fr example, a character advanced a nn-prfessinal skill frm 2D+2 t 3D, that csts 1 extra pint. Hwever, if he advances it t 3D+1 r 3d+2, the extra cst wuld be 2(2D t 3D is ne die advancement, and the +1 r +2 is a fractin f anther die, s ne additinal cst. Buying a Nn-Prfessinal int the Prfessin It is als pssible t buy a nn-prfessinal skill and make it prfessinal. When buying new skills, the player can spend twice the amunt needed t buy the skill t make it prfessinal. Dente the prfessinal skill with a P. 7

8 Advanced Creatin Pint System The d6 Class system uses a character generatin system called the Advanced Creatin Pint Pl system. It is similar t the Creatin Pints system in the cre rulebk, but translates the pints int pips instead f dice. S a nrmal d6 character can be created by 79 X 3 = 237 pints. Fr the Advanced Creatin Pll System, the fllwing is true (ACP = Advanced Creatin Pints): 1 Attribute pip = 3 ACPs 1 Attribute Die = 12 ACPs 1 Skill Die = 3 ACPs 1 Skill pip = 1 ACP 1 Specialized Skill Die = 1 ACP Pregenerated templates can be cnverted t this system, but they wuld have t be regenerated back thrugh the Pints Pl system first. 8
