None of the Mavericks four giveaways resulted in any points for Milwaukee. A little over a month later, Dallas tied the record again with only four miscues in a loss to Miami on 2/3/16. Nowitzki actually made a game-winning basket outside of the final 10 seconds earlier this year (he made a go-ahead layup with 19.2 seconds left in overtime at Brooklyn on 12/23/15 that put Dallas up and proved to be the game-winner). POWELL IS A RISING STAR: Mavericks forward-center Dwight Powell was selected to the 2016 BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge at All-Star Weekend, which took place in his hometown of Toronto. The second-year big man out of Stanford became the first Maverick selected for the annual Rookie-Sophomore game since Devin Harris in 2006 (Harris played for the Sophomores at All-Star 2006 in Houston). Powell (Canada) competed for the World Team in the BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge and recorded a double-double with 12 points, a game-high 11 rebounds (5 OR), two assists and two steals in 16 minutes off the bench. Despite the nice showing from the Mavericks young frontcourt player, the World Team fell to the U.S. Team, The NBA s assistant coaches chose the rosters for the BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge, selecting four guards, four frontcourt players and two players at either position for each team. The coaches also picked a minimum of three first-year players and three second-year players for each team. PARSONS PILES UP THE POINTS: Mavericks forward Chandler Parsons, who began the season on a minute restriction (recovering from right knee surgery), found his groove in January. Parsons is averaging 17.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 33.8 minutes over his last 19 games (since 1/6/16). He is shooting 52.3 percent (127-of-243) from the field and 42-of-93 (.452) from deep over his last 19 contests (1/6-2/9/16). Parsons averaged 8.9 points per game on 43.9 percent shooting (.341 3FG) through his first 28 games of the year (through 1/5/16). Parsons has shot the three-ball well over his last 17 games (since 1/10/16). He has gone 42-of-83 (.506) from beyond the arc over his last 17 games. The 6-10 forward scored 15-plus points in nine straight games from 1/18-2/1/16, which marked the second-longest such streak of his career (he scored 15-plus points in each of his final 10 games in , from 3/27-4/14/14). Parsons averaged 22.8 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 35.9 minutes over the nine-game stretch (1/18-2/1/16). He shot 54.3 percent (70-of-129) from the field and 52.8 percent (28-of-53) from 3- point range in that span. He led Dallas in scoring in six of the nine games and also grabbed five-plus boards in eight of the nine. Parsons totaled 87 points over a three-game stretch from 1/20-1/24/16 (30 vs. Minnesota 1/20/16, 26 vs. Oklahoma City 1/22/16, 31 at Houston 1/24/16), marking the most he scored over a threegame span in his career (previous high: 84 from 1/20-1/24/14). He led all players in scoring in each of those three games. MAVS BECOME 1ST TEAM EVER TO GO TO OVERTIME IN 4 STRAIGHT HOME GAMES: The Mavericks overtime win over the Timberwolves on 1/20/16 marked their fourth consecutive game at the American Airlines Center that went to overtime. The Mavericks became the first team ever to go to overtime in four straight regular-season home games (1/5-1/20/16). What s more, only one other team since had four straight home games (regular season or playoffs) decided in overtime. The Mavericks had their last two regular-season games and their first two playoff games go to overtime. Dallas went 3-1 on its record streak of four consecutive regular-season home games decided in overtime (Dallas defeated Sacramento in 2OT on 1/5/16, lost to Cleveland in OT on 1/12/16, defeated Boston in OT on 1/18/16 and beat Minnesota in OT on 1/20/16).
