None of the Mavericks four giveaways resulted in any points for Milwaukee. A little over a month later, Dallas tied the record again with only four miscues in a loss to Miami on 2/3/16. The Mavericks recorded four turnovers in a game six times prior this year, but never twice in the same season. Before the game against Milwaukee on 12/28/15, the last time Dallas recorded only four turnovers was 1/31/14 versus Sacramento. ANOTHER GAME-WINNER FOR DIRK: Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki hit a game-winning jumper with 2.1 seconds left to give Dallas a win at the L.A. Lakers on 1/26/16. Nowitzki received a pat from Kobe Bryant after sinking the 14-foot jumper right in front of the Lakers bench (Bryant, who missed the game due to a sore right shoulder, was on the bench in street clothes). It marked the 14 th time in his career that Nowitzki made a game-winning field goal in the final 10 seconds of a regular-season contest (and the first since 2/24/14 at New York). Nowitzki s other game winners (in the final 10 seconds of the fourth quarter or overtime) include: at New York 2/24/14, vs. Chicago 3/30/13, at Orlando 3/30/12, at Boston 1/11/12, at New Jersey 1/22/11, vs. Charlotte 12/12/09 (OT), at Milwaukee 11/16/09 (OT), at Indiana 3/20/09, at Philadelphia 1/19/09, vs. Utah 4/10/08, vs. Phoenix 12/28/06, at L.A. Clippers 4/10/06 and vs. Toronto 2/25/06 (OT). Nowitzki actually made a game-winning basket outside of the final 10 seconds earlier this year (he made a go-ahead layup with 19.2 seconds left in overtime at Brooklyn on 12/23/15 that put Dallas up and proved to be the game-winner). POWELL IS A RISING STAR: Mavericks forward-center Dwight Powell was selected to the 2016 BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge at All-Star Weekend, which took place in his hometown of Toronto. The second-year big man out of Stanford became the first Maverick selected for the annual Rookie-Sophomore game since Devin Harris in 2006 (Harris played for the Sophomores at All-Star 2006 in Houston). Powell (Canada) competed for the World Team in the BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge and recorded a double-double with 12 points, a game-high 11 rebounds (5 OR), two assists and two steals in 16 minutes off the bench. Despite the nice showing from the Mavericks young frontcourt player, the World Team fell to the U.S. Team, The NBA s assistant coaches chose the rosters for the BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge, selecting four guards, four frontcourt players and two players at either position for each team. The coaches also picked a minimum of three first-year players and three second-year players for each team. PARSONS PILES UP THE POINTS: Mavericks forward Chandler Parsons, who began the season on a minute restriction (recovering from right knee surgery), found his groove in January. Parsons is averaging 17.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 33.8 minutes over his last 19 games (since 1/6/16). He is shooting 52.3 percent (127-of-243) from the field and 42-of-93 (.452) from deep over his last 19 contests (1/6-2/9/16). Parsons averaged 8.9 points per game on 43.9 percent shooting (.341 3FG) through his first 28 games of the year (through 1/5/16). Parsons has shot the three-ball well over his last 17 games (since 1/10/16). He has gone 42-of-83 (.506) from beyond the arc over his last 17 games. The 6-10 forward scored 15-plus points in nine straight games from 1/18-2/1/16, which marked the second-longest such streak of his career (he scored 15-plus points in each of his final 10 games in , from 3/27-4/14/14). Parsons averaged 22.8 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 35.9 minutes over the nine-game stretch (1/18-2/1/16). He shot 54.3 percent (70-of-129) from the field and 52.8 percent (28-of-53) from 3- point range in that span. He led Dallas in scoring in six of the nine games and also grabbed five-plus boards in eight of the nine. Parsons totaled 87 points over a three-game stretch from 1/20-1/24/16 (30 vs. Minnesota 1/20/16, 26 vs. Oklahoma City 1/22/16, 31 at Houston 1/24/16), marking the most he scored over a threegame span in his career (previous high: 84 from 1/20-1/24/14). He led all players in scoring in each of those three games. MAVS BECOME 1ST TEAM EVER TO GO TO OVERTIME IN 4 STRAIGHT HOME GAMES: The Mavericks overtime win over the Timberwolves on 1/20/16 marked their fourth consecutive game at the American Airlines Center that went to overtime. The Mavericks became the first team ever to go to overtime in four straight regular-season home games (1/5-1/20/16). What s more, only one other team since had four straight home games (regular season or playoffs) decided in overtime. The Mavericks had their last two regular-season games and their first two playoff games go to overtime. Dallas went 3-1 on its record streak of four consecutive regular-season home games decided in overtime (Dallas defeated Sacramento in 2OT on 1/5/16, lost to Cleveland in OT on 1/12/16, defeated Boston in OT on 1/18/16 and beat Minnesota in OT on 1/20/16). The Mavericks had never had three straight regular-season home games go to overtime prior to this year. MAVS OUTSTANDING IN OVERTIME OVER PAST TWO SEASONS: The Mavericks have gone 12-2 in overtime games over the past two seasons 6-2 in and 6-0 in Only two other teams in NBA history recorded at least six overtime wins in back-to-back seasons. The Celtics accomplished the feat in the and seasons (six overtime wins in each season) and the Heat did so in (six overtime wins) and (seven overtime wins). The Mavericks 12 overtime wins over the past two seasons also mark the most overtime wins over a two-season span in team history (Dallas previously won nine overtime games over a two-season span from through ). Dallas won nine straight overtime games from 11/26/14-1/5/16, marking the longest streak of consecutive overtime wins in franchise history (Dallas previously won six straight overtime games from 2/26/10-3/24/12). The Mavericks won their first three overtime contests in , before seeing their record streak of nine consecutive overtime wins (dating back to last season) come to an end with a overtime loss to Cleveland on 1/12/16. The Mavericks bounced back by winning their next three overtime contests, but dropped their most recent one to the Jazz on 2/9/16 (putting them at 6-2 in overtime games on the year). The Mavericks are averaging 14.9 points on 54.9 percent (39-of-71) shooting in overtime this season. Dallas is shooting 19-of-31 (.613) from deep in extra time this year. DIRK, D-WILL AND MAVS ARE CLUTCH: Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki, who is in his 18 th NBA season, remains one of the NBA s best crunch-time performers. He s been great in clutch situations (where the score is within five points in the final 5 minutes of regulation or overtime) again this year, even at age 37. Nowitzki has scored 101 clutch points this season, which ranks eighth in the NBA. He is shooting 47.2 percent (34-of-72) from the field, 37.9 percent (11-of-29) from 3-point range and 95.7 percent (22-of-23) from the line in clutch time this year. Nowitzki also has the best clutch plus-minus in the NBA (+92). Nowitzki s teammate, Deron Williams, has also been great in crunch time for Dallas this season. Williams has totaled 98 clutch points this year, which ranks 12 th in the NBA. He is shooting 47.7 percent (31-of-65) from the field, 43.5 percent (10-of-23) from deep and 96.3 percent (26-of-27) from the line in clutch time this season. The players with the top four clutch plus-minuses in the NBA this year are all Mavericks: Nowitzki (+92), Wesley Matthews (+81), Williams (+75) and Zaza Pachulia (+68).
