The Rams finished the season with a 25-9 overall record and a 15-3 mark in Mountain West play. Colorado State advanced to the second round of the 2017 WNIT, falling to UC Davis. The Rams are led by ninthyear head coach Ryun Williams, who is at Colorado State. Freshman Lore Devos leads the Rams in scoring at 15.0 points per game, while redshirt senior Hannah Tvrdy is second on the squad with a 10.3 scoring average through three contests. The Sooners rank in Division I 11th in scoring offense and 34th in field goal percentage. OU has had five different 20-point scoring performances from four different players through three games. During the season, OU had just point scoring performances in 33 games. TOE THE LINE Dating back to the season, Gabbi Ortiz has hit 30 straight shots at the charity stripe dating back to Feb. 11, 2017 at Texas Tech. Ortiz's streak is tied for the third-longest streak in program history and matches Danielle Robinson's streak of 30 consecutive free throws made during the season. ALLOW ME TO INTRODUCE MYSELF OU s freshman class of Ana Llanusa, Shaina Pellington and Mandy Simpson have excelled in the Sooners' first three games. Pellington filled the stat sheet with 23 points on 9-of-12 shooting, six rebounds and five assists in 33 minutes of action at DePaul. Pellington's 23 points are the most by an OU freshman in a single game since Derica Wyatt scored 23 against UT-Arlington in Simpson scored 12 points, added five rebounds and logged three assists in her first career start versus Belmont, earning Big 12 Freshman of the Week honors last Monday. Llanusa hit four 3-pointers and scored 12 points off the bench against SMU on Friday. DOMINANCE IN THE POST Vionise Pierre-Louis leads the Sooners in scoring (21.0) and rebounding (11.3) through three games. Pierre-Louis' has been efficient by posting a.793 field goal percentage, which ranks sixth in Division I. The Lake Worth, Fla., native became the first OU player to record double-doubles and score 20-plus points in the first two games of the season since Courtney Paris accomplished the feat to start the season. Pierre-Louis has scored in double figures in all three games to open the season. MORE MADDIE Maddie Manning's move to the point guard position seems to be paying off. Through three games, Manning is averaging 18.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. One of the most versatile players in the country, Manning has the ability to play nearly anywhere on the floor for the Sooners. That was on display during Friday night's win over SMU, where she scored 18 points, led OU in rebounding with eight boards and dished a team-high five assists. QUICK HITS is 14-6 all-time against current members of the Mountain West Conference. The Sooners tied a program record for most 3-point attempts in a half with 19 against SMU on Friday. OU knocked down nine triples in the opening two quarters, which was also one shy of tying a school record. OU has scored 20-plus points in 11 of 12 quarters during regulation this season (scored 19 in third quarter against DePaul). The Sooners have used quick starts in all three games, averaging 49.7 points per contest in the first half. s non-conference schedule includes matchups against five NCAA Tournament teams from last season (Belmont, DePaul, Oregon, UConn and South Dakota State). Nine of the Sooners' 11 non-conference opponents made postseason appearances last year. OU's non-conference slate along with its 18-game Big 12 schedule will allow the Sooners to play 10 teams that were ranked inside the top 50 of the RPI to finish the season. OU reached the 20-win plateau for the 12th time in the last 13 seasons under head coach Sherri Coale a year ago. The Sooners have won at least 20 games 15 times during Coale's tenture.
