7 LYNX TRAX: Minnesota completed a 3-0 homestand with Sunday's victory over Connecticut, its first win in three outings vs. the Sun this season and ending a three-game series losing streak overall The win reduced the Lynx' "magic number" to one for securing a berth in the semifinal round of the 2016 WNBA Playoffs; they're four games in front of 3rd-place New York (20-9) with five to play At 24-5, Minnesota has equaled its best 29-game start in club history (also 2012) and is now one victory shy of registering its fifth 25-win campaign in the last six years Los Angeles (five), Connecticut (three) and Houston (three) are the only other WNBA teams to have compiled multiple seasons with 25+ victories; Detroit, Phoenix, Sacramento and Seattle have done so once each Sunday's win was Minnesota's ninth in a row at Target Center, equaling the third longest run at home in club history The Lynx will play their next four on the road before returning to host Atlanta in their regular-season finale on Sept. 17 The three-game homestand began with a victory over Seattle on Aug. 28 and continued with last Friday's decision vs. Washington The Seattle win completed a sweep of the four-game season series and was Minnesota's 14th consecutive Target Center triumph over the Storm dating to 2010 STREAKING: The Lynx saw their six-game winning streak halted with the setback at Connecticut on Aug. 26 their first loss since the previous visit to Uncasville (93-89 in OT, July 7) Minnesota took the streak into the Olympic break with a win vs. Seattle on July 22 at Target Center; during that run, the Lynx outscored the opposition by ppg ( ) The streak began with a home triumph vs. Dallas on July 9 and included an win July 12 at San Antonio, an victory over New York on July 15 at Target Center, a OT win July 17 at Dallas and an home verdict over Atlanta on July 20 The Lynx completed their first three-game homestand of 2016 at 2-1 following the win over Chicago on July 5 Minnesota stopped its three-game losing streak with the win over San Antonio on July 2 The drought tied the Lynx' longest since a five-game slide in July 2010; they also endured three-game skids in 2012 (July 1-5-7), 2013 (Aug ) and 2014 (Aug ) New York overcame a 15- point deficit in the final 6:00 of regulation to edge Minnesota, in OT, on June 29 It's the largest lead the Lynx have let slip away in a loss since Aug. 17, 2010, when Seattle rallied from 16 points back to win, Washington routed the Lynx, 87-63, on June 26; the 24-point spread represents Minnesota's largest losing margin since falling at Los Angeles on July 2, 2013 FINDING THE RANGE: The Lynx shot 53.7% Sunday vs. Connecticut, the 10th time this season they've topped 50% (sixth in 13 since July 1) The Aug. 26 game at Connecticut was their first loss in those 10, as well as just their second in that category since the start of the 2011 season (62-2) Minnesota tied a club record and set a 2016 WNBA season high by collecting 58 paint points in the July 17 win at Dallas The Lynx hit a season-best 56.2% June 19 at Seattle, bettering their prior high of 55.1% in the June 10 win in Atlanta Minnesota overcame a season-low 37.0% outing in the June 7 win vs. Phoenix, one of three sub-40% efforts to date; they shot 37.7% in the June 26 loss at Washington (finishing with a season-low 63 points) Minnesota was limited to 38.1% in last Friday's win over the Mystics, including just 25.9% (7-for-27) in the 2nd half Still, the Lynx lead the WNBA in scoring margin (+9.6 ppg); they also rank 2nd in scoring (85.7 ppg), 2nd in FG accuracy (47.2%), 2nd in assists (20.0 apg) and 3rd in offensive efficiency (107.2) DEFENSIVE DOINGS: The Lynx held Dallas to 24.6% shooting on July 9, their best defensive percentage in franchise history and the best figure in the WNBA this season Minnesota has won 34 consecutive games when keeping the opposition below 40% from the floor (11-0 this year, 83-1 since the start of 2011) In winning nine of their last 10 starts, the Lynx are allowing just 35.5% (119-for-335) and 34.4 points in the 2nd half Los Angeles shot 50.7% on June 24, the first time Minnesota has allowed 50%+ this year The Lynx swiped 15 steals June 4 vs. Dallas, tying the 2nd-highest single-game total in franchise history They also had 15 steals May 14 vs. Phoenix and May 31 at New York; Minnesota is 2nd in the WNBA in total rebounding pct (.530) while also ranking 2nd in defensive rebounding pct (.301) and in offensive rebounding pct (.759) They're also 3rd in fewest points off turnovers allowed (14.8 per game) and 3rd in fewest paint points allowed (31.9 ppg) ONE FOR THE BOOKS: The Sparks handed Minnesota its first loss of 2016 with the decision on June 24, avenging the defeat three days earlier at Staples Center The setback ended Minnesota's club-record-tying 13-game winning streak (also Sept. 4, 2011-June 15, 2012) to open the season, the longest such run in WNBA history The June 21 victory was the Lynx' fourth in their last five trips to Los Angeles (beginning in 2014) Minnesota rallied past Seattle, 96-84, on June 19, and cruised to an victory over Indiana on June 14 The Lynx concluded a two-game homestand with the victory vs. Phoenix on June 7, sweeping the season series Since the start of 2011, the Lynx have compiled an (.861) record at home and a mark (.759) overall ROAD WORK: The June 26 loss at Washington halted the Lynx' road winning streak at eight, the 2nd-best run in franchise annals; the Lynx went 4-0 in July 2013 with wins at Indiana, Tulsa, San Antonio and Phoenix
