1 Kent State University PHYSICAL EDUCATION DAILY LESSON PLAN Date:4/29-4/30 Lesson # 4 of 5 School: Revere Middle School Teacher: Miss Janoso Class Time: All Grade: _6-8 #Students Previous Lesson Lacrosse (maintaining possession/ scooping/ passing/catching) FOCUS OF LESSON: Attacking the goal through the triangle offense and creating their own plays OBJECTIVES Psychomotor 1. [P1] During game play, the students will shoot the lacrosse ball after completing at least 2 passes by pulling, pushing, and releasing the ball at a low release point at least 3 times in each game. 2. [P1] During the practice session, the students will create an original offensive play that utilizes every teammate and then will use it successfully to score a goal in the following game. Cognitive 3. [C2] Through Q&A, the students will list the cues of shooting (step, pull, push, release down) without the prompts of the teacher. Affective 4. [A5] During the class period, the students will demonstrate respect for their classmates and the teacher by listening when others are talking and following the safety rules (not throwing the ball at anyone, not hitting anyone else s stick, etc.) without having to be reminded a second time. MATERIALS, EQUIPMENT AMOUNT, SPACE - Key Routines 1.Whistle 2. Roles and Responsibilities contracts 3. Teams (pre-divided up) 4. Sticks (enough for every student) 5. Lacrosse balls (1 for every 2 students) 6. Stereo
2 7. CD with music on it 8. White board/markers 9. Watch 10. Signs to label the courts (1-6) 11. Tape 12. Cones for dividing up the courts. SAFETY CONCERNS/PLAN 1. Students may not hit anyone else s stick AT ANY TIME 2. Students must only throw the ball with the implement (or ever for that matter) during the game SAFELY! 3. If the ball goes on to anyone else s court, say ball on the court and stop the other game before running into the middle of the other game. 4. The game will be non-contact Motivational Introduction: Be succinct and creative! Set the tone and convey the lesson purpose Intro: Students come in and go directly to their home courts to begin their warm-ups. The equipment managers will get their equipment, and the athletic trainers will begin warming up their teams. Main Content Tasks - Extend Simplify Refining - Cues & Questions 1.Activity 1: Game 1 After the students do a warm up with their teams, I will freeze them and have everyone come over to one court. -Rules for the game- almost the same as day 1 you may not hit anyone s stick stay on your court you may not use your hands have goals (must have at least 2 passes -at least 3+ passes before scoring -must shoot from specific areas -all students must touch the ball before they must shoot. Create - Remember to keep score! -Shooting (pull, push, release downward) -How many passes do you need before you can shoot? (2- unless you are on a breakaway)

Activity 2: Practice: The last few days we have been working on passing, catching, scooping, cradling, etc. Today, we re going to focus on our offensive strategies a little bit. The last time you came in we spent a little time working on our triangle offense with one player behind the goal and the others in front, ready to receive the pass. Today, as a team, you get to create your own plays. You must create and practice at least 1 play, although you can create more than 1 if you have time and you choose to do so. -create more than 1 play -create a more complex play - -create an easier play (depending on the skill levels of the teammates) Remember when you re creating your plays, make sure everyone is involved and that you can complete it successfully. -Grip: Stick across lap, standing Net to dominant side Net up Bottom hand palm down Top hand palm up 18 inches apart Fingertips (loose) Your play should end with a shot, so it should Cradling:

Activity 3: Game 2 I will send them back into the game and encourage them to use their specific plays that they just created. -Rules for the game- almost the same as day 2 you may not hit anyone s stick stay on your court you may not use your hands must have at least 2 passes before you can shoot/or be on a breakaway -more than 3 passes before scoring -all students must touch the ball before they must shoot. -use a tennis ball (bouncier) - less than 2 passes before shooting -make the court larger -use less players per team -use a heavier lacrosse ball that is easier to catch. - Grip: Stick across lap, standing Net to dominant side Net up Bottom hand palm down Top hand palm up 18 inches apart Fingertips (loose) Cradling:
