1 2017 Men s Silver Anniversary Team JERMAINE BALL CATHEDRAL 1992 Indiana All-Star. Averaged 16.2 points, 6.7 assists, 5.1 rebounds and 3.7 steals as a senior. Named all-city, all-metro, all-sectional and all-regional. Attended University of Evansville and Troy State University. He is self-employed with his own clothing line and real estate company. He has three children and resides in Indianapolis. MIKE BROOKS BEN DAVIS Averaged 14.9 points as a senior for 23-4 regional champions his senior year. Leading team to semi-state finals, he scored 32 points against #1 Anderson in the semi-state. Made 42 of 44 FTs during state tournament run, named all-marion County, all-metro, all-sectional, allregional, all-semi-state and nominated for the McDonald s All-American game. Set Ben Davis season (90%) and career (84%) FT% records. Scored 1,030 points in four-year career at the University of Indianapolis, as team leader in 3FG%, FT% and steals and 2 nd on team in scoring, assists and rebounds as senior for 20-9 team that was nationally ranked. He was named GLVC all-conference. Set school records in consecutive FTs made (36) and season 3FG% (51%), and ranks #2 in career FT% and #2 in career 3FG%. Since 2000, he has worked for Novartis Pharmaceuticals, currently as Hematology Area Business Leader in Chicago. Married, he has two children and lives in Fishers. CRAIG BRUNES BROWNSBURG 1992 Indiana All-Star. Finished 3 rd in Mr. Basketball voting after totaling 1,778 points and 433 assists at Brownsburg. Teams won three sectionals, two regionals, two-time CSAC conference champs and two-times Hendricks County tourney champs. Teams were 48-6 his junior and senior seasons and in his career. He graduated as Hendricks County career scoring leader, 1992 AP, Coaches and Bloomington Herald-Times 1 st team all-state, 1992 Indianapolis Metro Player of the Year, 3x all-sectional, 2x all-regional, 2x all-semi-state, 1991 HOF Classic all-tourney team and 1992 McDonald s All-American nominee. Played two seasons at Joliet Junior College, winning 1994 NJCAA National Championship, and two years at Valparaiso University. Scored over 1,000 points at Joliet, named 1994 NJCAA National Championship all-tournament team, 2x all-conference. Was assistant coach at Valpo for their 2001 Mid-Continent Conference champion team. Is currently employed in sales & leasing at Hunt Pacific Management Company in Fishers. Married, with two children, he lives in Fishers. ALAN BUSH BEDFORD NORTH LAWRENCE Scored 1,333 career points in three seasons at BNL, setting six school records. Averaging 10.4 ppg as a sophomore member of their 1990 state champions, he averaged 23.2 ppg as a junior and 26.2 ppg as a senior. Teams were 65-9 over three years, winning a pair of Hoosier Hills Conference championships. He set BNL records for game, season & career FT% and game, season and career 3FG% and was named 1 st team all-state as a senior by the Bloomington Herald Times and Louisville Courier Journal. Scored 1,516 career points at Marian College, leading all college divisions in FT% as a sophomore and twice earning honorable mention all-conference honors. Involved in coaching at BNL for seven years, he was 30-3 as freshman coach for two years and as JV coach for five years. 2 KURT COMER JAC-CEN-DEL 1992 Indiana All-Star. Totaled 1,476 career points, 636 career rebounds and 305 assists. Guided team to school best 17-0 start and 24-2 overall record as a senior, averaging 30.7 points, 11.5 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game, leading to a sectional championship and Ripley County tournament title. Set Greensburg sectional record with 99 points in three games in 1992 sectional. Coaches 3 rd team all-state and Bloomington Herald-Times small school 1 st team all-state. A two-time Ohio Valley Conference MVP, he was Ripley County Tournament MVP and an all-sectional pick. Attended Eastern Illinois University, where he played two years before his career was cut short due to injury. Since 1999 he is owner of Comer Buildings in Greensburg. Married with four children, he lives in Greensburg. MATT DELINGER FORT WAYNE CONCORDIA 1992 Indiana All-Star. Totaled 1,251 career points, school-record 890 rebounds and 206 blocks at Concordia. Averaged double-figure scoring all four years, one of only five players in Concordia history to top 1,000 varsity points. Averaged 18.3 points and 12.7 rebounds as a senior, named 3x Summit all-conference, all-state, 1992 East-West All-Star, 1992 Indiana/Northeast Ohio All-Star and 1992 Nancy Rehm All-Star. Played two seasons at Cleveland State University and one at Towson State. Named Defensive Player of the Game 16x at Cleveland State. Totaled 287 college points and 218 rebounds in four seasons. Since 1996, he has served in the U.S. Marines, U.S. State Department, National Security Agency (NSA) and is currently in operations for the U.S. Army, having served four tours of duty in combat zones including Iraq, Afghanistan and the Horn of Africa. Has received awards and medals for service in Iraq, Afghanistan and actions taken during 9/11. Married for 23 years, he has six children and resides in Clarkston, Michigan. JOE ESTES JEFFERSONVILLE Averaged 15 points and 6 rebounds as senior for state finalists, who reached #1 state ranking and #8 national ranking. A 1991 Street & Smith s honorable mention All- American, honorable mention all-state, HHC all-conference and 1 st team all-area, he was Hoosier Basketball Magazine 1 st team all-state, East-West All-Star and was MVP of the North- South All-Star game. A part of teams that were over three years, they won two sectionals, two regionals and 1992 semi-state, losing in OT to eventual champ Richmond. Played at Loyola University (Chicago), averaging 10 points and 5 rebounds per game his final season. Named MCC Player of the Week and hit game-winning three-pointer vs. Northwestern during his college career. Employed in education since 1997, he has been Director of the Joe Estes Off the Streets basketball camp. Has been a junior high & high school coach, currently varsity assistant at Jeffersonville H.S. 3 BRIAN GILPIN MT. VERNON (FORTVILLE) 1992 Indiana All-Star. Scored 932 points at Mt. Vernon, leading them to record in four years, including 69-9 record his final three seasons. Averaging 18.4 points and 7.2 rebounds as a senior, he was named Bloomington Herald Times 1 st team all-state, Coaches 2 nd team all-state, AP 3 rd team all-state, all-sectional, all-regional, selected to Coca Cola Classic and Kentucky Derby Festival game and 1991 Nike Elite Camp. Teams won three sectionals and 1991 regional, advancing to Elite Eight. Recorded 1,043 points, 641 rebounds and 251 blocks at Dartmouth College, and still holds their season (92) and career blocks records. Named 2x all-ivy League honorable mention and 2x 2 nd team all-ivy League. Played 1997 in Portugal before beginning his career in 1998 with Embrace Home Loans, where he is currently Vice President of Capital Markets. He is married with four children and lives in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. RICHIE HAMMEL LAFAYETTE JEFF 1992 Indiana All-Star. Scored 1,457 points for the Bronchos, setting Tippecanoe County career scoring record. Averaged 21.1 points as a senior for Jeff s 25-3 state runner-up team and was named 1992 Trester Award winner. Set records for highest season scoring average (24.8 ppg as junior), most career 3FGs, most games played (86), most double figure scoring games (28 consecutive) and most games over 20 points (34 times). Teams won three sectionals, two regionals and 1992 semi-state. Bloomington Herald Times 1 st team all-state, AP 2 nd team allstate and Coaches 3 rd team all-state. Statistics unavailable for his season at U.S. Air Force Academy Prep School, where they played against junior colleges. Limited time playing at U.S. Air Force Academy, before resigning his Air Force appointment and completing a degree in psychology at Indiana University. Since 2011, he is a health insurance agent for U.S. Health Advisors. He lives in Dallas, Texas. STEVE HART TERRE HAUTE SOUTH 1992 Indiana All-Star. Averaged 20.3 ppg and 6.3 rpg as a senior for 17-7 Braves to be named Bloomington Herald Times 1 st team all-state and AP & Coaches 2 nd team all-state, helped South to 1991 state finals as a junior. Averaged 16.1 points per game for his high school career. Played two seasons at IU and two at Indiana State, totaling 734 career points, averaging a career-high 13 ppg as a senior at ISU in the season. Played in the CBA, USBL and NBDL, two years in training camp with NBA Minnesota Timberwolves, also played overseas in Cypress and China. Totaled 1,721 points at Austin, averaging 27.1 ppg as senior (6 th leading scorer in state) and 26.9 ppg as junior Indianapolis News 3 rd team all-state, Bloomington Herald Times 1 st team small school all-state, 3x Mid-Southern Conference allconference, 1992 Conference Player of the Year, 1992 HBCA All-Star, Hoosier Basketball Magazine 1 st team all-state and IBCA 1 st team academic all-state. Record breaking career at U.S. Military Academy (Army), 3 rd all-time leading scorer in Army history and 5 th all-time leading scorer in Patriot League history with 2,032 career points. Army s career leader in 3FG (300), which was also Patriot League record for 10 years (now 3 rd ). Set Patriot League record with 43 points in a game, scoring 30 or more points 19 times in his career and is 7 th in Patriot League career FT% (84%). Was in NCAA D1 top 10 scorers as junior (24.4 ppg) and top 25 as sophomore (23.1 ppg). 3x Patriot League 1 st team all-conference and honorable mention AP preseason All-American. CHARLES MACON MICHIGAN CITY ELSTON 1992 Indiana Mr. Basketball, McDonald s All-American, AP, Coaches & Bloomington Herald Times 1 st team all-state. Set Elston school record with 1,711 career points, surpassing Tony Branch (1,355) and Vernon Payne (1,318), and 877 career rebounds. Averaged 24.8 points and 12.7 rebounds as a senior, leading team to 1992 semi-state finals. Teams won four NIC conference titles and he was 3x 1 st team all-conference, averaging 20+ ppg his sophomore, junior and senior seasons. Played one season at Ohio State, before completing career with two seasons at Central Michigan MAC Newcomer of the Year, 2x 1 st team MAC allconference and 2x team MVP, he scored 900 points in two seasons at CMU, averaging 16.4 as junior and 18.2 as senior. Played overseas from in 21 different countries. Now self-employed with Dotty s Moving Services. He has five children and resides in West Memphis, Arkansas. WALTER McCARTY EVANSVILLE HARRISON 1992 Indiana All-Star and runner-up for Mr. Basketball. 3 rd team Parade All-American, AP, Coaches and Bloomington Herald Times 1 st team all-state, all-city and all-metro, averaged 23 ppg, 11.7 rpg, 3.6 blocks and 2.8 assists as a senior. Led Harrison to 1 st ever sectional championship senior year, totaling 33 points, 15 rebounds and seven blocks in the sectional title win over Evansville North. Three-year career at University of Kentucky, totaled 946 career points and 522 rebounds. Averaged 11.3 points and 5.7 rebounds as a senior for 34-2 NCAA National Champions, he was 2x SEC all-conference and the 19 th pick of the 1996 NBA Draft to the New York Knicks. Played 639 games in 10 seasons in NBA with New York, Boston, Phoenix and LA Clippers. Totaled 819 career points in three seasons on teams that were overall. Named Bloomington Herald-Times 1 st team all-state, Herald-Times Region/Area Player of the Year, HBCA East-West All-Star, Top 40 Workout participant and slam dunk contest participant at Indiana-Kentucky All-Star game, all-conference, all-sectional and all-regional. Played in 108 games in four years at Butler University, scoring 1,170 points (10.8 career ppg), later named to Butler s 1990s all-decade team rd team Academic All-American and 1996 Horizon League Medal of Honor recipient as conference s top male student-athlete. Employed with Eli Lilly from , he earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and is now Head of the Global Immunology franchise with Shire. Married, he has three children and resides in Vernon Hills, Illinois. BRANDT SCHUCKMAN VINCENNES LINCOLN Graduated as school s 5 th leading scorer with 1,178 points and set school records for career assists (278), career 3FG (109), career 3FG% (46%) and career minutes played record as four-year starter and two-year captain under Gene Miiller, winning four sectionals, one regional and four Big 8 Conference titles. Averaged 19.0 points as senior for 20-3 Alices, named Bloomington Herald-Times 1 st team all state, coaches 2 nd team all-state, AP and UPI honorable mention all-state and HBCA East-West All-Star. 3x all-area, 2x all-conference, 1991 all-evansville semi-state team. A three-year starter and team captain at Cornell University, where he scored 1,003 points, graduating as school s 15 th all-time leading scorer. Currently 3 rd in school history in career 3FG (231), 16 th in 3FG% (37%) and 18 th in games started. Graduated as 4 th in Ivy League history in career 3FG made. He was 1996 Ivy League 1 st team academic allconference, one of 13 players in Cornell history to earn that honor. Assisted Gene Miiller for two years at Lafayette Jeff and the past 12 years at Washington H.S. as Varsity Assistant. Since 2000, he is a chemist for Grain Processing Corporation in Washington. Scored 1,777 points at Carmel, ranking 3 rd in school history behind his father Billy and uncle Dave, averaging 25.5 ppg as junior and 22.8 ppg as senior, leading team to 1992 sectional championship. Named to McDonald s Capital Classic game, Derby Festival Classic, Street & Smith s 3 rd team All-American and 1992 USA Today Top 25 player in the nation. Bloomington Herald Times 1 st team all-state, AP 2 nd team all-state and Coaches 3 rd team all-state. 2x Hoosier Basketball Magazine 1 st team all-state inductee into Hamilton County HOF. BILLY WRIGHT RICHMOND 1992 Indiana All-Star, starting point guard on 1992 state champion team, scored 791 career points. Averaged 14 points, eight assists and four steals as senior, named Coaches 1 st team all-state, Bloomington Herald Times 1 st team all-state and AP high honorable mention allstate, Hoosier Basketball Magazine s Mini Mr. Basketball and recipient of Indiana All-Stars John Wooden Citizenship Award. Played in 118 games at Bradley University, collecting 909 points (7.7 ppg), 595 assists (5.0 apg) and 219 steals (1.9 spg). 3 rd in school history in career steals, 4 th in career assists and 6 th in career minutes played. 3x Missouri Valley Conference alldefensive team, 1993 MVC all-newcomer team and 1996 all-conference. Named to Bradley Athletics HOF in Since 1996, a coach at Ben Davis and Pike high schools and Ball State and Western Illinois universities.
