2 4. DEGREE(S): Include any and all degrees received, including institutions and dates attended. If more space is needed, please use an extra sheet of paper. DEGREE INSTITUTION BEGINNING DATE ENDING DATE Kinesiology, minor Psychology St. Mary's University Attended SAC MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS: Please include any information regarding career achievements, civic involvement, honors, publications or other data that judges should consider. Be sure to include dates and position(s) held. This is a very important part of the selection process so please be as detailed as possible. If more space is needed, please use an extra sheet of paper. Coach Carlos Wolfe attended and graduated from St. Mary University in In his senior year of college Carlos Wolfe was a Gopher (go-for stuff)for the San Antonio Spurs. After graduation he started working for the San Antonio Spurs summer basketball camp and continued to work each summer camp for the next 34 years. Coach started working for the Harlandale School District at Leal Middle School as a PE coach for his first two years and volunteered his time to coach at Harlandale High School. He became a basketball coach for Leal Middle School on his third year and coached at Leal for the next 32 years. Coach Wolfe has been known to have taken Leal MS students to the Spurs summer basketball camp free of charge. He has also been known to organize and hold basketball summer camps at Leal Middle School for the students in the area free of charge.
3 6. CIVIC/COMMUNITY/CHURCH INVOLVEMENT: Coach Carlos Wolfe has guided approximately ten thousand teenage boys from the Harlandale area through what many believe is the toughest years of their lives. Middle school years are perhaps the most difficult years for many students lives. Adolescence is the period following the onset of puberty during which a young person develops from a child into an adult. These awkward years are difficult on a young man s self esteem and confidence. Coach Wolf has been a superior role model for these young men for 34 years. Through his disciplined efforts,, organization and motivation abilities, he has taught non-coordinated, low coordinated and highly athletic young men the virtues of teamwork, leadership and hard work. The young men have benefited from his years of coaching expertise, his teaching experiences as well as his personal life experiences. Coach Wolfe used his years of athletic and personal experiences to guide young men every class, every day, and every year for 34 years. He paid attention to detail. He drew and recorded plays incessantly. This meticulous attention to detail benefitted each student athlete. He knew his and athlete's and his opponents athlete's strengths and weaknesses. He worked diligently to help each athlete to identify their strengths and weaknesses and improve on them. He taught his students to trust in their abilities as well as their teammates abilities to focus on the task at hand and work as a team. For generations, boys have grown to young men and those men have become fathers themselves and have brought their sons to Leal Middle School so their sons also may have the benefit of having Carlos Wolfe as their coach. There are too many young men that have been positively affected by Coach Wolfe to count. From the superintendent of the Harlandale School District to the Leal football team water boy, each one of them honor Coach Carlos Wolfe's contribution to the neighborhood kids. 7. SPECIAL HONORS: 8. The respect, love and admiration of over seven thousand students for over 34 years of teaching.

5 Simon Aguirre Sam Houston High School 4451 Swan Forest San Antonio TX, Dear Harlandale Family, I am writing this letter in regards to nominating Coach Carlos Wolfe into the Harlandale Hall of Fame. Coach Wolfe is not only my mentor, but a close friend. Coach Wolfe has given over 34 years of service to Harlandale ISD at Leal Middles School. Coach Wolfe, as we all know him, could be described as a leader, mentor, and role-model. His most important attribute was as a teacher to all the athletes that crossed his path. He is a man who truly loved being a part of his athlete s lives. He always put his athletes in a position to be successful. He has a relentless passion for teaching. His daily preparation towards practice can only be described as remarkable. Each practice had a goal in mind. His athletes understood that his teachings, small or large, would lead them towards success. His athletes knew where he stood and allowed him to make an impact in their lives. Impact is a strong word to use when you talk about an individual. Coach Wolfe impacted generations of athletes and students at Leal Middles School. Coach Wolfe has never been one to show what he does for his athletes. I have seen him buy shoes, feed players, give shirts, take players to games and camps, and so much more. Yet you don t see him telling others what he did. He just gives so much to his players that they just love playing for him. I really felt the impact he made when athletes come back to see him and say thank you for all he did. I am talking about men of all ages coming by and sharing their fond memories of playing for Coach Wolfe. Not only did he impact students, but colleagues as well. Working with him all those years was a blessing for me. I can truly say I am where I am because of what he taught me, but most importantly in what I observed. Coach Wolfe is a man of few words, but when you pay close attention to him, he was always teaching. He was an impact in my coaching career, but most importantly in my life. I was amazed by all the coaches who knew who he was. I am talking about high school coaches and coaches at the next two levels. Coach Wolfe has been at the same school for all these years, yet many have heard of the Legend as we know as Coach Wolfe. Thank You, Coach Simon Aguirre
