WA COUNTRY 50 The first game for Day 2 saw Vic Country s pressure gain some easy buckets off turnovers while WA Country could not connect from deep despite several attempts. An 8-0 run gave them life in the third period though but Alisha Knights halted the momentum while Piper Dunlop led them to the victory with a 14-point, 13-rebound double-double. NORTHERN TERRITORY 57 def. by WA METRO 102 Zeb Hantelmann recorded 12 points and seven rebounds for NT as he fell just short of his second double-double but despite his best efforts in the paint, Nathan Thomas and John Ibukunoluwa combined for 25 points and 21 boards to give WA Metro the win while Roosevelt Williams added 17 points. NSW METRO 48 def. by VICTORIA METRO 63 In a back and forth affair through the first half, neither team could take the ascendancy and while they both had leads at different times, NSW Metro held a one-point edge at the half. A physical battle saw both clubs ramp up their defence in the second but the long-range ball proved effective for Vic Metro as they eventually ran away with the win behind a strong performance from Frazer Elliot. SA METRO 60 def. by QUEENSLAND NORTH 92 QLD North came out firing to double SA Metro s total by the first break and while they were able to find their stroke from that point on, Qld North were too damaging at the offensive end as Tamuri Wigness reminded everyone of how exciting he can be, scoring a game-high 32 points. QUEENSLAND SOUTH 71 def. by NSW COUNTRY 81 NSW Country set the tone in this contest, earning a double-double lead although Qld South were up for the fight and kept the margin from getting too far out of hand by the main break. Catherine MacGregor scored 30 points including six three-pointers but nine NSW Country players hit the scoreboard in a strong performance, led by Sara Matthews 21. NSW COUNTRY 54 def. by NEW ZEALAND 84 NZ started the match with a 13-0 run and continued to pile the pressure on, gaining a 21-point lead at half-time courtesy of a strong inside and outside game. NSW Country kept up the physical nature of the contest through the second half but they could not slow down Harrison Payne (22 points) or Mac Stodart s rebounding efforts. 6 Game Reports VICTORIA METRO 94 def. ACT 45 ACT stayed firm with Vic Metro through the opening minutes of this contest but a barrage of three-pointers gave the Vics a healthy advantage heading into half-time. They then tightened their defence in the third period, holding ACT to just four points to run out comfortable winners behind Gemma Potter s 21 points. SA METRO 87 def. QUEENSLAND NORTH 66 SA Metro took a big lead in the early minutes of this contest and never looked back although an impressive second half from Qld North will give them confidence heading into Day 3. Every SA Metro player got on the scoreboard to answer Chailee Ward who scored 15 points including three three-pointers. ACT 57 def. by VICTORIA COUNTRY 59 Transition offence from both clubs made this an entertaining game from the outset but Vic Country owned a slight advantage at the first break. ACT were able to drive through and get to the rim but finishing was their issue as Ethan Fegert and Caleb Connick began to get on top. The Vic s offence dried up in the third quarter though and ACT responded through Harrison Matthew. Cutting down a six-point deficit at the last break, ACT had a lead in the final term but had to fight back again to tie the game from the free-throw line in the final 20 seconds courtesy of a Charles Potter free-throw. Liam Porter was the hero for Vic Country though, hitting a hook shot on the buzzer to claim a thrilling victory. NSW METRO 96 def. NORTHERN TERRITORY 45 NSW Metro s defensive pressure saw them claim this win, forcing NT into a lot of turnovers and converting at the other end as they shot 44% from the field overall. Molly Althouse had a double-double for NT but Alana Goodchild top-scored with 21 points. SA COUNTRY 69 def. by TASMANIA 79 Tasmania went into a full court press early in this contest and SA Country could not break through and when Sejr Deans hit a quarter-time buzzer beatter, Tasmania led by 13 points. Reyne Smith continued the charge with some long-range shots to finish with 31 points but Riley Stasinowsky and Riley Smelt kept fighting and cut the lead to less than five points down the stretch. Taran Armstrong put any hopes of a comeback to rest though with a couple of three-pointers and defensive stops to seal the win. GAME REPORTS VICTORIA COUNTRY 66 def. NEW ZEALAND 65 Some lights out shooting from NZ s Emilia Shearer and Parris Mason as well as some clinical offensive execution from Vic Country made for an exciting contest but a couple of late lapses from NZ saw them trail by a point at half-time. Vic Country then got out to a nine-point lead in the third term but NZ fought back to make it a one-possession game. 7 Game Reports SA COUNTRY 60 def. by TASMANIA 81 Neither team could grab the ascendancy through the first half and the tight game was reflected by the scores being tied at half-time. Tasmania broke away in the third courtesy of Shan Hayward who scored 22 points as five players hit double-figures, answering Emily Close s 16 points and eight rebounds. WA METRO 51 def. by QUEENSLAND SOUTH 81 Foul trouble proved an issue for both teams in a scrappy affair but John Ibukunoluwa got the crowd on their feet when he ended the first term with a big block at the rim. Qld South still owned a one-point lead though and their dominance on the boards eventually took its toll while Riley Curtis shone at the offensive end. Yemi Oyewyi proved his ability to knock down the three but Qld South ran out convincing winners. WA COUNTRY 60 def. by SA METRO 84 SA Metro stunned the local team and crowd with some blistering shooting but Shamus Trainor led the WA Country revival to keep the margin close at quarter-time. Kalani Sapwell proved hard to stop though, knocking down consecutive three s and while WA Country had a couple of run s in them, Joel Dyer ensured SA Metro claimed the strong win. VICTORIA METRO 123 def. NORTHERN TERRITORY 45 A faster and stronger Vic Metro proved trouble for NT who never gave in for the full forty minutes but 63 total rebounds and 14 three-pointers from Vic Metro gave them the comfortable victory as Joshua Woodford tallied 21 points. NSW COUNTRY 69 def. WA METRO 66 A tight affair through the first term saw neither team able to get away but WA Metro moved ahead in the second period behind some incredible offensive play from Maddison Alone (28 points) who picked apart the NSW Country defence with her passing and strong shooting. Olivia Barber and Keely McLean came off the bench to ignite NSW Country though, combining for 26 points and took their team into the lead late. Alone hit a three-pointer inside the final minute to cut it to a one-possession game but they could not connect again as NSW Country secured a big win. GAME REPORTS
