5 TRAINING Conditioning Work on your Own Pre-Season Training Starts in November Every Varsity Attackman and Midfielder will be required to run a 7.5 minute Mile, Defenseman an 8.5 minute Mile. Strength Sign up for Weight Training Speed Agility

6 LACROSSE PRACTICE & SKILLS We Practice at Full Speed with High Intensity We expect you to be able to Catch and Throw with both Hands WALL BALL See Attachment Keep your Stick Vertical not Horizontal Pass and Catch in the box Ball movement ball moves faster than your feet. Don t t watch Moving off the ball - Back door cuts, V cuts Fundamental Defense - Position & Footwork Off ball defense Cover your man and watch the ball Sliding Stop the middle Give 100% effort at all times. Show respect to coaches, teammates, officials, and opposing players. 7 WALL BALL You should do each of these drills from each, count them off in your head and see how many you can catch and throw in a row without dropping d the ball. These drills should not take more than a total of 30 minutes, so you should do them every day. The only way to get better is working in the off- season. If you want to contribute to the success of Grayson, you u must work in the off-season. If you want to participate in more games, you need to do the extras, because if you don t, others will and you will be left behind. Right handed- Take your time on this, pick a spot and try to hit the same spot each time Left Handed-Take your time on this, pick a spot and try to hit the same spot each time Right Quickstick- Try to move the ball in and out of your stick as fast as you can Left Quickstick- Try to move the ball in and out of your stick as fast as you can Switching hands- Throw with your right, then catch the ball with you left, then throw with your left and catch with your right. Hard Shot Drill-Stand back about feet and throw it very hard simulating a hard shot on goal. Step into the shot and work on speed, by standing s back so far it will give you time to react to the ball. One hand- Work on catching and throwing using on one hand.

8 CODE OF CONDUCT General Guidelines: Alcohol or drug use at any time or any place will not be tolerated ed and is grounds for immediate expulsion from the team. Any player using drugs will be expelled from the team. Abusive language, disobeying coaches, theft, dishonesty, unsafe behavior, and fighting are not acceptable at any time and will be disciplined. You are expected to support sportsmanship in lacrosse both on and d off the field. Please remind supporters to show respect at our lacrosse games as well. Practice and Games: You should have all equipment on and be ready to start practice at the appointed time. Late arrival disrupts practice and is unfair to your teammates and coaches. Attendance at practices will be monitored and will affect your playing p time in games. If you cannot attend practice, please call or your coach ahead d of time. You should plan on staying for the entire practice. If you must leave early, notify a coach before you leave. You are responsible for bringing your own water or sports beverage to every practice and game. Roughhousing and goofing off disrupt practice and such behavior will be disciplined (running laps, push-ups, ups, etc.). At games you are expected to show the highest standard of sportsmanship. Neither opponents nor officials will be taunted or harassed in any way. No one except the coach should say anything to the referees during a game. No trash talking to opponents on or off the field will be tolerated. You are responsible for your own trash and are expected to help keep the fields clean. (This includes our fields and our opponent s s fields.)

9 PLAYING THE GAME FIELD POSITIONS ATTACK: : The attackman's responsibility is to score goals. He generally restricts his play to the offensive end. MIDFIELD: : The midfielder's responsibility is to cover the entire field playing both offense and defense. DEFENSE: : The defenseman's responsibility is to defend the goal. He generally restricts his play to the defensive end of the field. GOAL: : The goalie's responsibility is to protect the goal and stop the opposing team from scoring.
