Nyla Milleson Head Coach Fourth Season Kansas State, 1985 334-195 (17 years) Nyla Milleson begins her fourth season at the helm of George Mason women s basketball program entering the 2016-17 season.

In 2015-16, Mason finished with a 6-10 record in league action for its most conference wins since 2011-12. The Patriots advanced to the quartefinals of the A-10 Tournament for the first time.

She was also the first player in program history with at least 1,500 points, 400 rebounds and 300 assists - all under Milleson s watch.

Milleson spent six years as the head coach at Missouri State where she led the Lady Bears to three WNIT appearances. Under the tutelage of Milleson, the Lady Bears went 105-87 (.

4 Nyla Milleson Head Coach Fourth Season Kansas State, (17 years) Nyla Milleson begins her fourth season at the helm of George Mason women s basketball program entering the season. She became the eighth head coach in program history on April 16, The Patriots have gradually improved, especially in Atlantic 10 Conference play, under Milleson s watch. In , Mason finished with a 6-10 record in league action for its most conference wins since The Patriots advanced to the quartefinals of the A-10 Tournament for the first time. Milleson mentored three-time Atlantic 10 All-Conference selection Taylor Brown ( ). The point guard ended her three years at Mason with 1,693 points - the second-most in program history. She was also the first player in program history with at least 1,500 points, 400 rebounds and 300 assists - all under Milleson s watch. Two recent Mason alums, Brown and Kristi Mokube ( ) both are currently playing professionally overseas - in Iceland and Germany, respectively. Sophomore Justin Lyon scored a career-high 34 points on 11-of-20 shooting. The Wildcats are led by junior Mackenzie Latt, who averages team highs of 14.6 points and 8.0 rebounds. Davidson is led by seventh-year head coach Michele Savage. SERIES HISTORY Davidson leads the all-time series 2-1, with all three meetings coming since the Wildcats joined the Atlantic 10 in the season. The home team has won every game. The teams have played once already this season, just three weeks ago in Davidson, N.C. The Wildcats emerged with a victory despite the Patriots erasing a 10-point, second-half deficit to tie the game with 53 seconds left. But Davidson scored on the next possession and made a pair of free throws late to seal the win. Senior Kara Wright scored 14 points for the Patriots but Lyon scored 22 and Latt had 14 to boost the Wildcats. LACING UP FOR A GOOD CAUSE The Patriots will hold a Lacing Up 4 Pediatric Cancer game against Davidson. Both teams will wear yellow shoe laces to generate support for the Go4theGoal Foundation in helping children battle cancer. Mason has raised more than $1,100 for Go4TheGoal, surpassing its original goal of $1,000. Go4theGoal works to improve the lives of children battling cancer by providing financial assistance, granting special wishes, developing unique hospital programs, and funding innovative research. LAST TIME OUT The Patriots suffered a loss at Duquesne on Sunday at the A.J. Palumbo Center for their third straight loss. Mason went scoreless over the final 5:36 of the first half and scored just five points during an 11-minute stretch that spiraled deep into the third quarter.that proved to be the difference as the Patriots three-point lead turned into a 12-point deficit by halftime. Duquesne stretched the advantage to 24 points in the third period. Freshman Alexsis Grate had a career-high 14 points for the Patriots, who committed 22 turnovers and shot just 28.6 percent. WRIGHT STUFF Senior guard Kara Wright leads the team in points (15.4), rebounds (6.3), assists (2.9) and steals (1.4). In A-10 games, the Louisville, Ky. native, is averaging 17.2 points third-highest in the A-10 and 7.2 rebounds. She also has recorded five double-doubles and five games of 20 points or more this season. She has scored in double figures in 21 of the team s 24 games, including 11 straight. GRATE SIGN Freshman Alexsis Grate enjoyed a career day against Duquesne on Sunday. The 5-foot-6 guard from Hampton, Va., came off the bench and scored a career-high 14 points, surpassing her previous high of 11 points. She was 8-of-9 from the free-throw line - setting a career high in made free throws - and 3-of-6 from the field. She has played in all 24 games this season and ranks third on the team in assists (34) and steals (26). ATLANTIC 10 LEGENDS Former Mason standout Vernessa Neamo was named the team s Atlantic 10 Legend and will be honored on March 3. Neamo ( ) is the program s all-time steals leader with 256. She also ranks in the top 10 in blocked shots, scoring and rebounds. Current Mason assistant coach Tajama Abraham Ngongba was named George Washington s Atlantic 10 Legend.
