Earned first team all-league honors senior season. Averaged 13 points, four points, seven assists and four steals per game. Team Captain and Team Defensive Player award winner. Hustle Award winner junior season. College: Played two seasons at Highline CC and one at Portland State prior to enrolling at CWU. Led HCC to two consecutive NWAACC titles. Averaged 15 points, four rebounds, seven assists and three steals to earn second team all-star honors freshman season. Helped team to third and sixth-place finishes at State Class A tournament. College: Played one season at Highline CC for former CWU guard Joe Callero. CARSON PAYNE Forward, 6-4, Sr., Vancouver - Mountain View High School: Graduated from Mountain View in Played two seasons at Jesuit High School in Portland, Ore., prior to completing his prep career at Mountain View. At Jesuit, earned honorable mention all-state honors. First-team Greater St. Helens League all-star at Mountain View. College: Played two seasons at Clark CC. Twice was selected a second team NWAACC West region all-star. Averaged 18.9 points per game sophomore year. Scored 20 or more points 14 times, including a high of 36 against Green River. Averaged 6.3 rebounds, including season-high 14 against Lower Columbia....After outstanding junior season in which he led the team in scoring (14.4 points per game) was selected to four NCAA Division II pre-season All-American teams this fall. Scored 60 points and had 12 rebounds in three games to earn Most Valuable Player honors in 1999 PacWest post-season tournament. In addition to leading the team in scoring, ranked second in field goal percentage (53.3) and rebounds (4.3). Scored 20 or more points in six games, including season-high 26 against St. Martin s (Dec. 12). Had season-high 11 rebounds against Western Oregon (Dec. 3)...Will be go-to-guy this winter. Is a great all-around player. Has a deadly mid-range jumper, but also has ability to shoot the three. Has excellent leaping ability and is a good rebounder. Also is a solid defensive player. Two-time Greater Spokane League second-team all-star in basketball. Played first base in basketball. College: Was one of top reserves last season, averaging 9.2 points per game. Ranked second on team in three-pointers made with 66, the sixth best single-season total in school history. Attempted 190 threepoint shots, the second highest total in school history. Scored season-high 22 points twice (Jan. 16 against Humboldt State and Feb. 6 against St. Martin s). Made six three-pointers against Lewis-Clark State (Dec. 16) and St. Martin s (Feb. 6)...Played two seasons at Everett CC. First team NWAACC Northern Region all-star honors sophomore year. Averaged 18.0 ppg, 3.8 assists and converted on school-record and NWAACC-best 88 percent of foul shots to earn second team Western region honors.
