2 CWU PLAYER PROFILES REGGIE BALL Guard, 6-0, 170, Sr., Seattle O Dea High School: Graduated from O Dea High School in Three-year letter winner in basketball. Earned first team all-league honors senior season. Averaged 13 points, four points, seven assists and four steals per game. Team Captain and Team Defensive Player award winner. Hustle Award winner junior season. College: Played two seasons at Highline CC and one at Portland State prior to enrolling at CWU. Led HCC to two consecutive NWAACC titles. Averaged 15 points, four rebounds, seven assists and three steals to earn second team all-star honors freshman season. Averaged 14 points, four rebounds, eight steals and three assists last season and earned first team NWAACC honors. Named to NWAACC alltournament team both seasons... Started 23 games last season at Portland State and averaged 7.6 points and 5.0 assists per game. Shot 40.6 percent from the floor (71-175), including 32.2 percent (19-59) from the three-point line. Two-time All Narrows League outfielder. Was Tacoma News Tribune Student-Athlete of the Year award winner for North Thurston. College: Will redshirt this season. Has worked as a tutor of elementary school children. MARTY DELANGE Forward, 6-6, 215, So., Lynden High School: Graduated from Lynden High School in Lettered in football (1) and basketball (4). Second team all-league wide receiver in football. Played post position in basketball. Earned first and second team all-league honors junior and senior seasons. Helped team to third and sixth-place finishes at State Class A tournament. College: Played one season at Highline CC for former CWU guard Joe Callero. Along with Reggie Ball, played on NWAACC championship team in Started 19 games for Wildcats last season. Averaged 9.3 points and team-best 5.1 rebounds. Also led squad in field goal percentage (56.2) and ranked second in blocked shot with 11. Averaged 11.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists freshman year. Shot 38 percent from three-point line and 75 percent from foul line. CARSON PAYNE Forward, 6-4, Sr., Vancouver - Mountain View High School: Graduated from Mountain View in Played two seasons at Jesuit High School in Portland, Ore., prior to completing his prep career at Mountain View. At Jesuit, earned honorable mention all-state honors. First-team Greater St. Helens League all-star at Mountain View. College: Played two seasons at Clark CC. Twice was selected a second team NWAACC West region all-star. Averaged 18.9 points per game sophomore year. Scored 20 or more points 14 times, including a high of 36 against Green River. Averaged 6.3 rebounds, including season-high 14 against Lower Columbia....After outstanding junior season in which he led the team in scoring (14.4 points per game) was selected to four NCAA Division II pre-season All-American teams this fall. Scored 60 points and had 12 rebounds in three games to earn Most Valuable Player honors in 1999 PacWest post-season tournament. In addition to leading the team in scoring, ranked second in field goal percentage (53.3) and rebounds (4.3). Scored 20 or more points in six games, including season-high 26 against St. Martin s (Dec. 12). Had season-high 11 rebounds against Western Oregon (Dec. 3)...Will be go-to-guy this winter. Is a great all-around player. Has a deadly mid-range jumper, but also has ability to shoot the three. Has excellent leaping ability and is a good rebounder. Also is a solid defensive player. Running back and wide receiver in football. Team MVP and second team all-league senior season. Played point guard in basketball for former CWU assistant coach Dennis Bower. Black Hills League MVP and all-state senior year. Team Captain, Team MVP and first team all-league junior and senior seasons. College: Played forward position for two seasons under Dean Nicholson and Leon Rice at Yakima Valley. Honorable mention all-league freshman year. First team all-league, Team Captain and Team MVP sophomore season. Most Inspirational award winner freshman and sophomore years. Averaged 13.3 points and 7.2 rebounds sophomore year. Also had 74 assists, 69 steals and 30 blocks, leading team in latter two categories...a natural righthander, redshirted last season to work on his shooting after switching to left hand due to elbow injury. CORBY SCHUH Guard, 6-4, Jr., Spokane - Central Valley High School: Graduated from Central Valley in Earned two letters in basketball and baseball. Two-time Greater Spokane League second-team all-star in basketball. Played first base in basketball. College: Was one of top reserves last season, averaging 9.2 points per game. Ranked second on team in three-pointers made with 66, the sixth best single-season total in school history. Attempted 190 threepoint shots, the second highest total in school history. Scored season-high 22 points twice (Jan. 16 against Humboldt State and Feb. 6 against St. Martin s). Made six three-pointers against Lewis-Clark State (Dec. 16) and St. Martin s (Feb. 6)...Played two seasons at Everett CC. First team NWAACC Northern Region all-star honors sophomore year. Averaged 24.6 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists... Has ability to take over a game with his shooting and scoring ability, plus he has the size to post up and rebound. Played in all-state game and Oregon-Washington all-star game. Played centerfield and third base in baseball, earning all-league honors. College: Played key reserve role last season and will be one of team leaders this season. Will play at both the point and shooting guard positions. Is a very good defender and is a competitor from start to finish....averaged 3.4 points last season. Scored season-high 11 points against Simon Fraser on Jan. 9. Played two seasons at Tacoma CC for former CWU assistant Carl Howell prior to enrolling at CWU. Team captain both seasons. Averaged 14.5 points and 4.9 assists sophomore year, leading TCC to a 21-7 record. Played in NWAACC sophomore all-star game...scored a career-high 39 points, including 35 in the second half, against Pierce College freshman year. Averaged 18.0 ppg, 3.8 assists and converted on school-record and NWAACC-best 88 percent of foul shots to earn second team Western region honors. Set school record for three-point attempts (262) freshman year. Misc: Born at Tacoma. Health education major. Plans to be teacher. Played offensive and defensive tackle in football. Twice selected all-league. Averaged 16 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks senior season to earn all-league honors in basketball. Competed in shot put and discus in track, twice qualifying for state meet. College: Started first nine games last season before being sidelined by back injury.
