The was the only perfect score recorded across the NCAA in the first week of the 2016 season. En route to the all-around victory, McGee won floor with the , tied for first on bars (9.900) and scored a and on vault and beam respectively. She is currently No. 1 in the nation on floor, tied for fourth on bars and tied for 13th in the all-around. In 2015, McGee finished in a tie for second at the NCAA Championship on floor and was dubbed a First Team All-American. She also earned Second Team All-American honors in the all-around. McKenzie Wofford, Oklahoma Wofford appeared in the No. 5 spot in OU s bar lineup, posting an impressive in her first routine of the season, good for a first-place finish. The score matched the highest of the meet for any competitor on any event, and already matches her season high from Wofford
2 is currently ranked in a tie for first nationally on bars. In 2015, she finished fourth in the nation on uneven bars at the NCAA Championship and was also named to the All-Big 12 team. Newcomer of the Week Kirah Koshinski, West Virginia Koshinski was brilliant in her collegiate gymnastics debut, pacing WVU on vault, beam and floor and finishing in the top three on each event. The Berwick, Pennsylvania, native won vault outright with a mark. She also finished third on floor (9.825) and beam (9.800). Koshinski currently ranks No. 13 nationally and tied for first in the Big 12 on vault. She also ranks No. 6 in the Big 12 on beam and floor. East Atlantic Gymnastics League Jillian Winstanley - George Washington Jillian Winstanley (Arlington, Massachusetts) of GW earned the first EAGL honor for the 2016 season after her performance in GW s 2-0 win at the Little Boston Invitational. Winstanley, the 2015 EAGL Rookie of the Year, picked up right where she left off in GW s season-opener. She took home event titles in the All Around (39.35), vault (9.925) and uneven bars (co-champion, 9.90). Her vault score tied a career-high and she eclipsed the threshold in the all-around for the 12th time in her career. Additionally, she scored a on beam (10th) and a on floor (tied for 9th). Nicole Wild - North Carolina State Sophomore Nicole Wild (Waxhaw, North Carolina) of NC State was named EAGL Specialist of the Week for scoring a on bars and a on beam in the Wolfpack s monumental win against Penn State on the road. Her beam score was good enough to win the event and also marked a career-high. She finished fifth on bars Rookie of the Week Caitlyn Fillard - North Carolina State Freshman Caitlyn Fillard (Centereach, New York) of NC State tabbed the EAGL Rookie of the Week honor after making her collegiate debut as an all-arounder in the Wolfpack s win over Penn State. She finished in a tie for third on beam (9.825) with teammate Chelsea Knight. Her other scores were: on vault, on bars, on floor, and in the all-around. Eastern College Athletic Conference Division I Rookie of the Week Coaches Choice Eastern College Athletic Conference Division II
3 Rookie of the Week Coaches Choice Mid American Conference Kendall Valentin, Eastern Michigan Valentin led the Eagles to their best season opening team score in program history, scoring a in a quad meet against Pitt, Maryland, and Towson. Valentin notched scores of on vault, 9.85 on bars, and 9.85 on beam, placing first, second, and fourth, respectively. Additionally, her scores on both vault and beam were new career highs. Rachel Slocum, Eastern Michigan Slocum helped the Eagles to their best season opening team score in program history, as the team notched a in a quad meet against Pitt, Maryland, and Towson. Slocum competed on both vault and floor, scoring a 9.85 on vault and 9.75 on floor, which was good for second on both events. This also marked her first time competing vault while donning the Green and White. Midwest Independent Conference Ashley Thomas Southwest Missouri State Thomas began her season with a solid performance against defending MIC champion Lindenwood University. She placed first in the all-around with a score of , which was the highest in the conference this week. In the individual events, Thomas placed fourth on vault (9.600), third on bars (9.775), tied for sixth on beam (9.600) and tied for fifth on floor (9.675). Co-Specialists of the Week Taylor Vincent - Texas Woman's Vincent posted a career-high on beam in the season-opener against then-no. 2 Florida on Friday, Jan. 8. She anchored the beam team and helped the Pioneers score a team score on the event. Vincent also posted the highest score among the TWU gymnasts in all four events. McKinzie Jones Southwest Missouri State In her first ever collegiate meet, Jones, a walk-on, got off to a fantastic start with stellar performances on beam and floor. She claimed both event titles with scores of and 9.825, respectively. Her was the highest individual score during the meet.
4 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Lauren Rice - Sacramento State Sacramento State sophomore Lauren Rice (Henderson, NV) scored to finish second in the all-around in a tough NorCal Classic, taking on Stanford, California, UC Davis, and the host San Jose State (Jan. 10). Rice helped Sacramento State to a score of which was the second-best in a season opener in school history. She set her career-high on floor with a which tied for second in the meet. Rice added scores of on vault, on bars and on beam. Jesse Williams - Sacramento State Sacramento State junior Jesse Williams (Saugus, CA) returned to competition on floor where she tied for fourth-place at the NorCal Classic (Jan. 10). Williams, who was the MPSF all-around champion in 2014 before missing all of last year with an ankle injury, matched her career-high with a That effort helped the Hornets to a on floor. Newcomer of the Week Ellie Pascoe - San Jose State San Jose State freshman Ellie Pascoe-Long (Eugene, OR) led the Spartans on vault and floor at the NorCal Classic (Jan. 10). In her first collegiate meet, she tied for fourth on the floor with a 9.850, the top score for the Spartan floor team that scored a in the meet. Pascoe-Long also led the Spartan vault team with a Mountain Rim Gymnastics Championship Co-Gymnasts of the Week Nina McGee Denver McGee s all-around tally of was tied for the highest in the conference last week, and her perfect score on floor is the only 10.0 in the nation so far this season. She is currently ranked No. 1 in the nation on floor, tied for No. 4 on bars and tied for No. 13 in the all-around. Danielle Ramirez - Southern Utah Ramirez, a junior from Corona, Calif., recorded a in the all-around, the first appearance in all four events since her freshman year, finishing second overall a tri-meet with Denver and West Virginia. Ramirez scored a or higher on all four events, including a on bars, a on beam, earning an individual title on the event, a on vault and a on floor. Kirstie Yee - Southern Utah Yee, a sophomore from Alisa Viejo, Calif., recorded a on the uneven bars to capture the individual title on the event. Yee also competed on beam, where she scored a Pac-12 Conference Elizabeth Price Stanford Stanford sophomore Elizabeth Price earned honors for the first time in her career after her performance in the Cardinal s second place finish at the NorCal Classic featuring
5 California, San Jose State, UC-Davis, and Sacramento State on Jan. 10. Despite Stanford s second-place finish, Price swept individual event victories, finishing first in all four events and the all-around. Her meet-best performance on beam was crucial with the Cardinal missing two routines in the event and needing a big score. It was the second beam performance of her career. This was also only the second time Price has competed in the all-around in her career; she s earned the individual victory both times. Her all-around score also has her tied for best in the nation so far this season. In her freshman season, Price was named the 2015 Pac-12 Specialist of the Year and won an NCAA individual championship on the vault. Hallie Mossett UCLA UCLA junior Hallie Mossett earned honors for her performance in the Bruins win over then-no. 3 Alabama. This is Mossett s first Pac-12 weekly honor since she was named Freshman/Newcomer of the Week twice in Mossett scored a career-high 9.95 on floor to help lead UCLA to a come-from-behind win over the Crimson Tide. UCLA trailed Alabama by.05 going into the final rotation, and Mossett stepped up and delivered her best floor routine of her UCLA career just when her team needed it. She earned a 10.0 from one judge and a final score of 9.95, shattering her previous career-high of and giving her a first-place finish, the first win of her career on floor. Her score helped the Bruins total on floor, tied for the second-highest floor score in the nation so far this season. Freshman/Newcomer of the Week Sabrina Schwab Utah Utah freshman Sabrina Schwab earned Freshman/Newcomer of the Week honors for her performance in the Red Rocks season-opening win over BYU. In her first college appearance, Sabrina Schwab wowed a crowd of 15,023 while winning the floor exercise with a score of Schwab was not scheduled to compete to count and was slated to go exhibition until the touch warm-up just prior to the event. She scored her 9.90 on the floor from the No. 2 position in the lineup, and also scored a 9.75 on bars. Southeastern Conference Co-Gymnasts of the Week Bridget Sloan Florida Sloan s three wins at Texas Woman s University (all-around, bars and floor) pushed her career titles total to 71. She is now among five Gators with 70 or more career event wins. Sloan s winning all-around total of is the third-highest season-opening total in UF s history. It is the nation s high after the opening weekend of the 2016 season. In the latest national rankings, she is No. T1 in all-around, No. T10 floor, No. T13 vault and No. T15 on bars. Myia Hambrick LSU Hambrick captured her first career all-around title with a , and it came in the biggest season opener in LSU history as the Tigers took down No. 1 Oklahoma in the program s first Top- 5 matchup in an opener. She also tied or set career highs on beam and floor with a 9.90 on each event. With LSU trailing Oklahoma by half a tenth entering the final rotation, Hambrick added a 9.90 on floor to lift the Tigers ahead of the Sooners. She also posted a on vault that helped LSU finish with a nation-leading in the event. Shae Zamardi LSU
6 Zamardi delivered clutch performances on bars and floor to help the Tigers defeat No. 1 Oklahoma in the program s first Top-5 matchup in an opener. She posted a in her first career floor routine to help clinch LSU s victory. Her is the highest score in an LSU gymnast s first career floor routine since teammate Jessica Savona tallied a in her first floor performance on Jan. 4, 2013 vs. North Carolina State. Zamardi also posted a team-high tying 9.85 in the anchor spot on bars to place second in the event. Freshman of the Week Sarah Finnegan LSU Finnegan delivered in a big way in her first collegiate meet to help the Tigers defeat No. 1 Oklahoma in the program s first Top-5 matchup in an opener. In front of a season-opening record crowd of 8,228 in the Maravich Center, she delivered an outstanding performance on beam to claim the event title and lead the Tigers to a in the event. Finnegan s is the highest score in an LSU gymnast s first career beam routine in school history. She ranks No. 3 nationally on beam after one competition. Finnegan also added a team-high tying 9.85 on bars to finish second in the only other event she competed against the Sooners. Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Specialist Chloe Rehberg, UW-Whitewater Rehberg won the vault competition, besting six Division I student-athletes and 17 other competitors with a score of to help the Warhawks place second out of four teams at UW- Eau Claire on Jan. 8. Her tally was the best of her career and tied for the ninth-highest mark in program history. Rehberg also placed third in the vault with a 9.575, just tenths shy of first place, to help UW-Whitewater defeat Hamline (Minn.) in St. Paul on Jan. 10. All-Around Dani Barmore, UW-La Crosse Barmore placed second in the all-around (37.650) in UW-La Crosse's dual win at UW-Stout on Jan. 8. In her first career collegiate meet, Barmore won the vault (9.675), while finishing second on the floor exercise (9.400), third on the balance beam (9.575) and tied for fifth on the uneven parallel bars (9.000).
