1 Station: HOOP RUN RELAY/ CENTIPEDE RACE -Students will be split in to 4 teams of 4-6 people. (Any extra students must wait for their turn) -Teams will perform 2 different races and then make new teams and perform the same 2 races. Game #1- Hoop Run Relay -Teams start behind his/her cone -Have first student stand OUTSIDE the hula-hoop (This is new. The first person is used to standing on the inside of the hoop; just tell them, MR. NORRIS changed the rules. ) -On your GO signal they must run and do one lap around their cone at the other end -When students return the next person in line will grab on to the OUTSIDE of the hoop and they both run around the hula-hoop. -This is repeated until all students are holding on to the hula-hoop and the team makes one lap around their hula-hoop -TEAMS MUST SIT DOWN WHEN THEY ARE FINISHED (Note: Once you have grabbed on to the hoop they cannot let go at any time. Remind students to run at a speed where all players can keep up, no dragging teammates.)

2 Game #2- Centipede Race -Teams start behind his/her cone -First student has one ball and make one lap around their cone at the other end -Students must then connect to another student using the ball and those students make a lap (ball in arm pits, arms over each other s shoulders) -Next student in line follows and puts ball/s back if they drop it -This continues until: - 4 People are connected by 3 balls -Then complete one lap. -TEAMS MUST SIT DOWN WHEN THEY ARE FINISHED (Note: Students cannot hold on to the balls with their hands after the first lap.)

3 Station: STICK TOGETHER RELAY -Students must use sticks to move all balls from their hula-hoop to the basket at the other end -2 students from each team go at a time, and then students hand sticks to next 2 kids in line -Students must hold: PAINTED PART OF STICK ONE STCK IN EACH HAND -First team to move all balls into the basket at the other end come back and sit down WINS!

4 Station: 3 LEGGED RACE RELAY - Have students break into 4 LINES OF EVEN NUMBERS partner up -Put band around their inside foot (foot closest to partner) -Have partners line up at the start line (NOTE: Have students lock arms, put arm on partners shoulder or around their back) -On your GO signal, students must walk/run to their cone/flag at the other end around and walk/run back and high five the group in line - This continues until all students have completed the race -If there is extra time you can do different races (boys vs. girls, parents partner with kids, or have the teachers join in, etc.) (NOTE: Please remind students if their partner falls they must stop to help them up)

5 Station: VOLLEYBALL RELAY -Separate students into 4 Teams: -Teams 1 and 2 are working together and teams 3 and 4 are working together -Have 2 of the teams start at the same time in their separate marked areas -There will be 1 XL volleyball in each of the two marked areas -Teams must hit the ball back and forth as many times as possible before the MESS UP MESS UP = ball hits the ground, the same player hits it twice in a row or the ball is hit out of that team designated area -Once a team has a MESS UP, they must call out how many hits they got and return to their cone and the other half of their team continues where they left off -Play continues until one group of two teams reaches the correct number of hits -1 st and 2 nd Grade= hits -3 rd, 4 th and 5 th Grade= hits - When team reaches there number of hits they ALL must return to the cone and sit down - If you have extra time have the kids go for more hits.

6 4 Way Tug-of-War: Grades 1-5 Station: TUG-OF-WAR -Break group up into 4 equal teams -Make sure cones are an equal distances away from the ends of the rope -use painted lines -On your GO signal teams pull as hard as they can trying to reach their cone -First team to reach their cone and knock it over wins (give stop or freeze signal when team wins) -After the Winner is named have teams rotate clockwise and go again -you may also mix up the teams as you see fit and go again

7 Station: The Very Hungry Caterpillar -Divide into 6 groups and assign one object to collect. -Each hoop starts with pieces of food (assorted balls and 1 rubber animal) -Have students scatter all objects in the area. -The caterpillar is hungry and must gather as much food as possible - Students must each hold onto rope on the same side. Students cannot let go of the rope. -The first person is the head of the caterpillar and the last person is the stomach who will hold the bag. The head is the only person who can pick up food. -The first person takes the group to the food and passes it from person to person to the stomach. The stomach puts it into the bag. -After all the pieces are collected the teams return to start to see whose stomach is the most full (Rubber Animals are worth 2 pts. Everything else is 1 point) -Have students count up points and declare a winner -Have students rotate by moving the head to the stomach (front person to the end) - Students scatter the food and play again

8 Station: PARACHUTE -All students should know how to play these 3 Games: -Hot Air Balloon -Spin -Popcorn (signal words: Popcorn Up and POP! ) -Use colored balls for this game -Up and Under -ONLY!! 2 kids switch at a time under the shoot -They must make it to the other side before the 3,2,1 count Students have been taught how to play all these games. Take your time and have the students explain the rules of each game. You can play each game multiple times. They also like just trying to pop all the balls out of the Parachute. (NOTE: please remind students not to walk on parachute, keep fingers out of the holes and don t let go of parachute unless told to do so)

9 Station: FRISBEE FRENZY -Have the student break into 4 equal teams -Have half the team on one line and the other half on the other line -Allow the teams about five minutes to practice just throwing the Frisbees back and forth to each other -Each team must try to throw the Frisbee INTO the hoop on the other side as many times as possible. -Teammates on other side help by hitting Frisbee into their hoop -2 point for each time Frisbee touches or bounces out of Hula-hoop -3 points for each Frisbee that is in or leaning on Hula-Hoop -FIRST TEAM TO 15 POINT WINS -If there is any extra time left mix up the teams and play again

10 Station: RING TOSS -Help students split into 8 separate teams (split 4 teams in ½) -Each team lines up on their side of the post -Students then take turn throwing 2 rings per side, per person, at the pole (alternating throws) -After 3 or 4 minutes rotate teams around to next stake Scoring: -1 st and 2 nd grade; first team to 2 or 3 ringers -3 rd 5 th grade; first team to 3-5 ringers NOTE: Remind the students not to throw when others are in the middle retrieving rings!!!

11 Station: 30 YARD HURDLES -Have students partner up with whomever they would like to race. -Have students line up across from their partner. (both on opposite sides of the race track) -Students should line the whole track so they can cheer on their classmates as they run. -Teachers/ Volunteers stand at finish line of the track to start the race. -Students must give the starter a thumbs up to let starter know they are ready to race. -Starter then raises both hands in the sky. -When starter drops hands the race starts. Important Notes: -Students must shake hands before and after each race -Make sure the students lining the track do not step onto the track and get in the way -2 nd grade students lower hurdles to the lowest setting -3 rd -5 th grade students set hurdles to the middle setting

12 Station: CUP STACKING -Each student need 1 set of 12 cups inside a black sleeve (PLEASE MAKE SURE THE STUDNETS DO NOT MIX UP THEIR CUPS) -Keep the sleeves with cups -The ONLY stacks the students are allowed to do will be posted on the walls -Those stacks are: 3-6-3, 6-6, and Have students compete against each other, the teacher, and their parent or by themselves to see who can build and tear down their stack the fastest

13 Station: FREE PLAY STATION -Have students partner up or play in small groups -Students may play pass with the Footballs, Frisbees OR Soccer Balls -Also there are hula hoops, jumps ropes and volleyballs for them to play with. -If a student wants to use something different they must first put away what they were using

14 Station: OLYMPIC TORCH RELAY -Have students break into 4 equal lines -First 2 students in line take their torch to the marked areas on the course -Place the badminton birdie into the baton (THE TORCH) -Each student must transfer one ball (THE FLAME) at a time to the next student in the relay - That student then takes there place on the course -Final student on the course dumps THE FALME (ball) in to the bucket -FIRST TEAM TO TRANSFER ALL BALLS DOWN THE COURSE, COME BACK AND SIT DOWN WINS! Note: If THE FLAME falls students must freeze for 3 SECONDS

15 Station: BADMINTON -Students wait in line behind cone -Students play one game of 2 vs. 2 on each badminton court -First team to 2 points moves to the far side of the net -If your team never loses, you never leave Note: You can move games up to 3 points this just increases wait time for the other students

16 Station: JUMP ROPE/ HULA-HOOP COMPETITION -Start with either hula-hoops or jump ropes -Split the students into two groups: -One group to participate and one group to sit, watch and cheer on their classmates -each students in other group gets either 1 hula-hoop or one jump rope -Give students a quick 30 seconds to a minute to warm up -On teacher go signal students begin -If a student messes up, they must sit down right where they are and wait until the end of the round - After a while when you have a few students left, increase the difficulty until you have a winner INCREASE DIFFICULTY: Jump Rope: One foot -Switch feet -Jump Side to Side -Jump Back to Front Hula-Hoop: One Foot -Spin around in a circle (Hula_hoop) -Jump Once Jump When I Jump
