2 Fouls by the Defense Using the Crosse: Using the Body Checking dangerously Block Check to the head Crosse in/through the sphere Crosscheck/illegal contact Obstruction of Free Space to Goal 3 seconds Hold/push Slash Dangerous contact Dangerous Use of the Crosse Checking : Rough or Recklessly check, may not be toward the body or contact the body, or toward the head Crosse in/through the Sphere: Reaching crosse into or through an opponent s sphere, poking or waving crosse near opponent s face/head Illegal Contact: contact with opponent s body with the stick held in a horizontal position Dangerous Contact: any action that thrusts or shoves any player with or without the ball who is in a defenseless position. This includes but is not limited to: head down, from out of the visual field, in the air, or out of balance Slash: Reckless, dangerous swing of the crosse at opponent s body or crosse, regardless of contact A player may not reach into or through the sphere or hold her crosse around the throat or wave it in the face of her opponent. 2
3 Defender drops head of stick to a horizontal position and extends into the body of the offensive player Using the shaft of the stick to hit, push, or displace the opponent Illegal Use of Body/Space Block: moving into the path of an opponent, without giving her time or space to stop or change direction Push/Hold: Pushing or holding, detaining, or restraining an opponent with one s body or stick Obstruction of Free Space to Goal: block or guard the space between the ball and the goal circle Three Seconds: defending in the 8 meter arc without marking an opponent within a stick s length 3
4 Defender uses her crosse to detain player from continuing on her established path Fouls by the Attack Fouls with the Crosse Dangerous Follow Through Fouls with the Body Charge Dangerous Propel Illegal Pick Forcing Through Illegal Cradle Attack Fouls with the Crosse/Ball Dangerous Follow Through: Follow through with the crosse in a dangerous or uncontrolled manner at any time Dangerous Propel: Shoot, pass, throw, bat, flick the ball (propel) in a dangerous/uncontrolled manner Forcing Through: While in possession of the ball try to force the crosse through two opposing crosses Illegal Cradle: Hold or carry the ball in the sphere when defense or opponent is in legal position to check Dangerous Shot: shoot dangerously or without control at the goalkeeper 4
5 Attack Fouls with the Body Charge while in possession of the ball, charge, barge, back into a defender that has established a legal position Illegal Pick without possession of the ball, set a moving or stationary pick out of her visual field of an opposing player which does not allow time or space for the opponent to change direction and contact occurs Defense established Offense has space to change direction Defender maintained space Offensive player went into her space 5

9 Procedural Errors Illegal Substitution Delay of Game Request for a 3 rd stick check that meets specs Request for a 3 rd time out Cover Misplays (Minor Fouls) Empty Stick Check Play without a stick Illegal Draw this is now called a draw foul, not a minor foul Warding off Play from out of bounds Score with illegal stick Cover A player may not guard a ground ball with crosse or foot Each player is entitled an equal opportunity to play the ball 9
10 EMPTY STICK CHECK A player may not check or impede an opponents crosse when her crosse is not in contact with the ball. Each player is entitled an equal opportunity to play the ball without illegal interference NOT EMPTY STICK CHECK ILLEGAL DRAW A player taking the draw may not move before the whistle except for their head. If a center does not go up or if the ball does not rise above the heads of the centers First motion for the DRAW must be UP 10
11 WARDING A player may not guard the crosse with an arm Defender is in a legal position and the offensive player uses her arm to guard the crosse Playing from out of Bounds Take an active part in the game when her foot/feet are out of bounds Player (Red) went Out of BOUNDS to gain a position to make a play on the ball Goal Circle Fouls by the Defense Field player Goalkeeper Deputy Runs through Reaches in Standing outside reaches in Walks back in with the ball Does not clear the ball within 10 sec Enters without team s possession Enters while the goalie is still in circle Does not clear the ball within 10 sec 11
12 If the Goalie goes out to play ball Then Goalie can not immediately step back into circle. She is considered out of the circle. Once Goalie is out of circle she can not reach into circle to regain the ball 10 seconds to clear ball Goalie can throw ball or carry ball out of their circle. Opposing players are not allowed to enter or break plane of the circle to defend Goalie. 12
13 Goal Circle Fouls by the Defense Field Player Runs through Reaches in Goal Circle Fouls by the Offense Attack Player Runs through Reaches in She MAY follow through on a shot Offside Team Fouls A team must not have more than seven players below the restraining line in their offensive end, and must not have more than eight players below the restraining line in their defensive end. 13
