2 Girl s Spring term report The girls have had a tough Netball season as always, playing our usual challenging competitors. However the girls determination across all teams has been outstanding and their drive to succeed commendable, doing both themselves and their school proud. With our defensive play strong and building on last year, we had the scope to focus more on our attacking movement and set plays, of which many teams showed with some real flair and advanced skill set as we moved through the season. Their communication and advice to each other was continually positive and encouraging, which as Head of Netball is very encouraging to see and hear, as they represent both the sport and school fantastically with this manner on court. With the senior girls, we have had a particular focus on strength and conditioning as well as skill practice and this has improved their control and ability to fight for the ball. We hope for this to continue next year and it to spread further down through the year groups. A commendable mention to Emily Webb who couldn t even manage one press up at the start of the season and is now comfortably completing 7-8 with ease, a merit to her achievements in S+C this season. I would like to say a massive thank you to all the staff that supported the netball through coaching and umpiring this year, as well as the kitchen and grounds staff, for their continued support with all our fixtures. Last season s goal was to beat some of the Bath schools this year and we achieved that well started to. Now we need to keep this going next season. Well done girls Miss Anderson

3 1 st VII Fixture List This year the 1 st team have had a positive season, showing some real flair and determination to their fixtures. Katie Smith led the team well and all team members stepped up and performed each week for each other, showing great team spirit. With the exception of a couple of matches, the girls had a consistent season, with the highlight being uncharacteristically a loss against a very strong Prior Park side, but by only 2 goals. This season has been one of my favourites coaching the 1 st team, largely due to their positive work ethic. Good luck to the girls in year 13 who will be greatly missed next year. Player of the season: Rosa Ghaidan Most improved: Emily Webb Most committed: Beth North-East and Claudia Dark Miss Anderson Colston's School Netball 2 nd VII Fixture List It was a positive start to the netball term, winning 3 out of their first 4 matches, despite the frustration of poor weather and cancelled fixtures. Throughout the term the girls adapted well to a changing personnel due to their versatility as a team. Although it was a tough finish to the netball season, the girls showed good determination. The senior players in the team have lead by example and those players who are here next year have shown the quality needed to challenge for a place in the 1 st VII next year. Well done girls. 4 3 rd VII Fixture List It's been a good season only slightly hampered by low numbers at times. Results haven't always been what we hoped for, but the girls have consistently worked hard, listened and put everything into their games, showing their resilience and tenacity. Some good progress was made with regards to specific skills such as footwork, 3ft marking and using the whole court. This season should stand them in good stead to move forwards next season. Well done girls. Player of the season Tamsin Morgan Most improved Rhiannon Curuso-Kelly Most committed Lucy Xu Frankie Nutt Colston's School Netball Girls-U15A Fixture List It has been a mixed season for the girls that may have looked slightly different without poor weather and cancelled fixtures. The girls have showed lots of potential, experience and determination throughout the season but didn t found their consistency against tough opposition. However, they are a talented group and many of them should be challenging for places in the senior teams next season. Well done girls. 5 Girls-U15B Fixture List Although the results have not gone our way this season, the girls have gained valuable experience playing at a high standard. They have worked hard to increase their intensity during matches, strengthen their understanding of the sport in order to read the opposition s next move and have learned to slow down play to ensure we maintain possession. I have been impressed by the girl s enthusiasm and work-ethic throughout. Well done! Player of the season Poppy Ambrose Most Improved Ailie Gamlin Most Committed Molly Glew Miss Roberts Colston's School Netball Girls-U14A Fixture List It's been a good season with some really great results, winning every match except the first game of the season and that was lost by 1 goal. These girls show excellent athleticism and agility, great team working and an innate ability to read the game well and intercept ball. Progression was made in terms of getting into space and allowing the ball to always pass into this space. Next year will be exciting, just a little more control and focus will render them indomitable. 6 Girls-U14B Fixture List The U14Bs made a great start to the season and I have been impressed with their commitment and drive during matches. They lost a little bit of belief towards the end so must keep their confidence high for next season. They have been a pleasure to coach. Player of the season Abigail Freeman Most Improved Sophia Mazza Most Committed Natasha Stuckey Miss Flay Colston's School Netball Girls-U13A Fixture List The U13A team had a tricky start to their season, but flourished mid-way through and have had an extremely positive second half. The girls have worked tirelessly in lessons to become a successful cohesive unit and have been developing the technical side of their netball and applying it in game situations. One of their many highlights was our win Vs Cheltenham Ladies College, where the girls battled hard right up to the final whistle. 7 Girls-U13B Fixture List The U13B netball team had a really encouraging season. We started off, as expected; a little slow, a little unsure of our positions and a little limited with our skills. But throughout the season, we developed our passing techniques and tried to not always pass overhead, learnt our different positions and improved our movement around the court. As a consequence the results improved and we had some very close matches, even securing a couple of wins, to the delight of all the girls. The girls, although very keen to play in their favourite positions, but began to realise that being versatile was very important, and took on the challenge of playing in a different position around the court, often very successfully. I hope they now have the confidence to try playing a different role on court, develop their skills and recognise the importance of strong team work ready for the next netball season. Well done girls. Player of the Season Charlotte Payne Most Committed- Ruby Thresher Most Improved- Ellen Ford Mrs Hayett Colston's School Netball Girls-U12A Fixture List Although not all results have gone the girl s way, it has been a promising season. These girls have plenty of potential and the experience gained from this year should stand them in good stead next season. They need to ensure they take was they have learnt and move forward next year to become a cohesive, well balanced team. Well done. 8 Girls-U12B Fixture List Despite the girls playing some very respectable Netball teams, they have constantly improved their skills and game play throughout the season. There closest game was their last against Prior Park College and this highlighted how far the team has come since January. They have shown passion and determination in every game. Well done girls.
