1 2018 Thursday Outdoor Open Grade Club Information Thursday Outdoor Open Grade Club netball caters to those who cannot play in the weekends. This competitive competition is played on Thursday nights from April - August with 40 minute games being played at 6.15pm. PLAYING DATES: Grading April 12, 19, 26 Sponsored Round May 3, 10, 17, 24, 31, June 7, 14 Championship Round June 21, 28, July 5, 26, August 2, 9, 16 Finals August 23 NO PLAY DATES: July 12, 19 GRADES: Women s Grade Mixed Grade A grade and B grade. All players must be women. All team members must be made up of both men and women players. There are to be no more than three men on court at any one time and only one male member is allowed in each third during this time. Note: School teams can enter into either grades. TEAM REGISTRATIONS: Close: Thursday 29 th March Register online at: If your team registers after the 29 th March, there will be a late fee of $50 added to your team registrations fee. FEES/PAYMENT: $759 per Open Grade team and $338 per Secondary team playing in Thursday Open Grade. Fees due April 29 th Internet Banking: Hamilton City Netball Centre Please use club/team name as a reference. If you are unable to pay your fees in full by the due date, an application must be made in writing to the HCNC no later than 31 st March 2018 to pay by installment. Fees unpaid by the 29 th April 2018 if no prior arrangement has been made teams will not be allowed to play until arrangements are in place.
2 DEFAULT PROCESS: If your team needs to default their game please phone the netball centre and/or leave a message on (07) as early as possible. Please note an is not sufficient as office hours are limited. Default fines are outlined in the HCNC By-laws as the following: $25 per default before 1pm prior to the day of play $60 after 1pm prior to the day of play UNIFORMS: All teams are to be in uniform. If your uniform is changing from the previous year please contact events@netballhamilton.org.nz to get approval. Uniforms must be netball skirt or dress. UMPIRES: Each team is asked to provide one umpire each Thursday as required. It is compulsory that all umpires provided have at least an Introduction to Umpiring qualification. Failure to provide umpires when required results in the following fines: 1 st offence - $65.00 plus loss of 1 point 2 nd offence - $95.00 plus loss of 3 points 3 rd offence - Fine to be increased each time thereafter by $35.00 plus loss of three points There will be umpiring courses available for those who have not completed it. More information will be available on the website prior to the 2018 season. PLAYER REGISTRATIONS: All teams are required to register their individual players. Please see the Step-bystep guide on our website under Policies, Procedures & By-Laws for more information. Player registrations are to be completed online no later than 4pm on 21st April You may only register 12 players per team. Premier teams are permitted to register up to four (4) Franchise, New Zealand & International players per season as part of the sixteen (16) registered players for the team. (For more information, please review the HCNC By-Laws found on our website under Policies, Procedures & By-Laws tab). You will not be able to register or delete players online after 21st April. This needs to be done at the registration window prior to your game. New players registered after 21st April will be charged a fee of $6 per player to be paid prior to the team taking the court. Teams that play unregistered players without making payment will automatically forfeit any points earned in that game. If you have Secondary School girls in your team, please notify the centre via at events@netballhamilton.org.nz.
3 We are offering a Player Registration workshop on the first game day (April 12) to offer assistance to coaches who need it. LIGHTING APPLICATIONS: Information on lighting applications will be sent to teams early The lights are on an automated system, therefore bookings are essential. All bookings are assigned on a first in first served basis and there is a minimum of 1 hour hiregae requirement. Fees for lit courts are outlined below: 1 hour $230 per court 1.5 hours $345 per court 2 hours $460 per court Casual hire $40 per court per hour Payment due 28 th April If your team is not requiring the lights on any given week during the season, please inform the center immediately. The center reserves the right to remove your booking if your team is not present for two consecutive weeks without notification. Once applications have closed, please events@netballhamilton.org.nz to request a lighting application. FAQ s ON WEBSITE: We now have a number of FAQ s available on our website if you are requiring any further information. REFUND POLICY A full refund will be provided if written notice of withdrawing from a league, tournament, course or activity is received in writing within three days of initial registration. A refund, less 10% of the registration fee, will be provided if notice of withdrawal is received in writing not less than seven days prior to the league, tournament, activity or course commencing. Any notice to withdraw received six days or closer to the commencement day will only be refunded under exceptional circumstances and is entirely at the discretion of the Centre Manager. Written notice should be ed to admin@netballhamilton.org.nz. In conjunction with our Code of Conduct (more information below), we are implementing a strategy involving teams that will help decrease the amount of incompliances and breaches of the Code that lead to disciplinary action. When teams register their attendance at each game day, coaches will be given a vest. This vest will be given to a representative of the team, who will act as the warden to ensure spectators are adhering to the Code and sportsmanship. All vests to be returned after games. 4 CODE OF CONDUCT FOR BEHAVIOUR AT THE CENTRE: The following code is not set to provide a detailed description of behaviour expectations, but rather the broad principles of acceptable behaviour in netball at the Trust Waikato Hamilton City Netball Centre. Incompliance and breaches of this code may lead to disciplinary action (including trespass notices issued and player suspension) by: the offending team or individuals school or TWHCNC under its complaint and judiciary procedure. Player Code of Behaviour Play with honesty and integrity. Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants, regardless of their ability, cultural background or religion. Play with a healthy determination; hard but fair. Play to strive for excellence and to the rules of the game. Be committed to your team. Attend all practices and games. Refrain from arguing with the officials. Control your temper at all times. Work equally hard for yourself and your team. Portray good sportsmanship. Applaud all good play whether by your team or your opponent. Remember the goals of the game are to have fun, participate, improve your skills and to win fairly. Thank the opposition and match officials after each game. Coach Code of Behaviour Positively reinforce the actions of players Lead by example. Be honest with yourself, your management and with players. Create an enjoyable environment in which to play the game. Develop and grow a team respect for officials. Give all players the opportunity to participate in the game. Insist on fair play and discipline. Be reasonable on the demand of the players time, energy and enthusiasm. Encourage positive sportsmanship.
5 Spectator/Parent/Supporters Code of Behaviour Applaud the performance of both teams. Be positive with the officials and coaches. Acknowledge the officials and their efforts. Show appreciation to the coaches and officials. Let the players play their own game, not yours. Praise efforts not results. Be a positive role model for the players; display self-control on the side-line. Remember young people play netball for their own satisfaction, not yours. Officials Code of Behaviour Control the game in a fair and positive manner. Be consistent and objective in your rulings. Modify your approach to suit the level of skill each player possesses. Help players learn the rules by explaining decisions where appropriate. Do what you can to ensure everyone enjoys the game. Encourage fair play and do not tolerate foul play of any kind. Be a positive role model.
