We encourage all parents whose daughter will be involved in Netball in 2014 to attend. This presentation will outline the logistics of the netball programme, give parents the opportunity to meet our Development Coaches as well as become familiar with the Years 3-5 competition structure. Years 3-5 Future Ferns In Year 3-5 teams play a modified version of Netball called Future Ferns. Games are 2 x 20 minute halves, each half players rotate positions following a specific rotation system. Rotations are a key aspect to a player s development allowing knowledge and skill development in all positions. The coach will ensure all players are given equal opportunity in all positions. The equipment used is modified to suit the netball and the goals height is 2.6m. Year 5 teams play with a standard size ball (size 5) and hoop (3.05m). Add any new Year 3 information when available. Netball Development Programme A Netball Development Programme is in place to ensure greater enjoyment for players in all age groups by providing equal opportunity for all to advance their skills. This programme fits in with the philosophies of the Sports Department; Increasing participation, Developing the player and Fostering elite success. Netball Development Coaches are in place and have the role of developing the player, the coach (student and adult) and the student umpire. The Development Coaches will regularly attend trainings and games of teams courts.

7 Team NUMBERS Where possible each team will have ten players assigned to it once teams are formed after trials. This is to ensure teams will have at least seven players each week of the season. Having ten players per team allows for injuries/sickness during the season. Year 3 team play 5 aside so will have eight players per team. Additional PROGRAMMES In addition to the regular Netball playing season in Term 2 and 3 St Cuthbert s College offers Netball Programmes in Term 1 and 4 to allow our players to continue their development. A Preseason programme is held in Term 1 to get players back into Netball prior to trials. In the July Holidays a Netball Holiday Programme will be held for any interested netballers. In Term 4 an Offseason programme will be run. All additional programmes have their own fees and are user pays. Please see attached documents on the Netball page of the school website for further programme details. FEES The fee for netball in 2014 for Years 3-5 teams is $... This fee covers entry to the ANC Competition, equipment, coaching costs (Development Coaches), umpire costs, what else? Add in Levy info A non-refundable netball trial fee of $30 will be charged to all players that attend trials and/or are placed in a team in Term 1 this fee will be included as part of the total netball fee for the season. If your daughter is involved in any other netball events or programmes such as one day tournaments or preseason training there may be additional fees that apply. All fees will be charged to your St Cuthbert s College account. Years 3-5 TRAINING DAYS Year 3 will train on Tuesdays at lunchtime from 1.00pm pm. Years 4 and 5 will train on Wednesday after school from 3.15pm pm. Behaviour and ATTENDANCE To ensure everyone involved in a team gets the most out of the season it is essential that players attend all trainings and games. Where possible please plan around the season dates outlined to ensure your daughter s availability. The Coach and Manager must be notified if a player is unable to attend a training or game to allow them to plan ahead. If too many players are away trainings may be cancelled and games defaulted. Players and teams will learn the most at training if all are present and drills can be effectively carried out. It is essential that players also arrive at the time specified by the Coach. The behaviour that is expected at trainings is the same as that required in a classroom. Netball training is for learning and all players need to respect not only the coach but also the other team members that are keen to listen and progress their skills. Please discuss these values with your daughter prior to attending Netball training each week. Please read the Fair Play Agreement for Players and Parents which is available on the Netball page of the College website.

Should this equipment not be returned at the conclusion of the season the team will share the cost of purchasing the lost equipment.
10 St Cuthbert s College FILL IN PLAYER POLICY When a team does not have enough players to take the court they may borrow players from another team to make up numbers. The following policy applies: Players may only be borrowed from the team that is graded immediately below them in the ANC competition. This ensures the borrowed player is capable of the level of play in the team above. As many players as needed may be borrowed at once. Players must be in the same year level as the team they are filling in for. If the game of the two teams involved are at different times the manager can request a certain player/position. If the game of the two teams involved are at the same time the team below can select which player is provided, e.g a player that is planned to be a sub in the first half. This therefore does not affect the team below with regards to rotations or starting lineups. Team managers should liaise with their coach(es) to discuss the planned positions for that game and what player/position is needed or can be given. The Manager of the team requiring an extra player should contact the manager from the team below. Permission must then be gained from the requested players parents and they need to be advised of meeting time/location and pick up time. What if the parent does not give the permission? Should the policy state that players are expected to assist with this replacement process? On the occasion that using a player from the team below leaves that team short that team must then borrow from the team below them utilising the same policy. Once the fill in player has been arranged the team manager of the higher team should inform the Netball Coordinator of the situation. A player may only play in the team above them twice. Years 3-5 TOURNAMENTS There are two tournaments that Years 3-5 netballers are able to participate in during the season: ANC Year 3-6 Mid-Winter Tournament Remuera Zone Day The ANC Years 3-6 Mid Winter Tournament will be held on Sunday 29 June. This tournament is optional for teams to enter and provides the opportunity for players to gain further netball experience by participating in a one day tournament. Entry information is passed on to Team Managers who will then determine the availability of their teams players. If a team does not have sufficient players to attend, other available players will be pulled into the team or teams will be merged. All players that are keen to attend will be catered for. A coach and manager must be present on the day of the tournament. The Remuera Zone Day is held in September, usually on a Tuesday. Only Year 5 and 6 teams are able to enter this tournament. An information letter will be sent home to parents outlining the day. As the Netball and Hockey Remuera Zone competitions are on the same day players will need to decide which sport they would like to be part of. Players may also decide to remain at school for the day. All players that choose netball will be placed in a team. Each school is allowed to enter only three teams (1 in each grade, A, B and C) meaning that team numbers on the day may be large, depending on player availability. Teams for the day will be based on the trialled teams formed for the season with all selection decisions being made by the Development Coaches. A charter bus will be provided to transport students to and from ANC. ANC Rules and Regulations Add here once new info comes out from ANC
