2 2018 NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL TOURNAMENT TEAM INFORMATION SITE: RULES OF PLAY: TOURNAMENT FORMAT: MEMBERSHIP: AWARDS: HOME & VISITOR: CONDUCT OF PLAYERS: CONDUCT OF PARENTS: The MAP Sports Facility- Garden Grove The 2018 Tournament will play under the High School Federation Rule book with the appropriate NJB High School rules applied during all games. The format will be pool play and championship bracket. All players and coaches must be a current NJB Member. Individual awards will be awarded to 1st and 2nd Place team members. The team listed in the game brackets on the right, will be the visitor team and shall wear dark uniforms. The team listed on the left, will be the home team and shall wear white or light colored uniforms. The home team shall sit at the right of the scorer s table and take the opposite basket for warm-ups and first-half play. Any player whose behavior has affected the conduct of the tournament and/or the respectability of the program will be brought before the tournament disciplinary committee. Players and parents will be responsible for any damages incurred during the tournaments. The Head Coach will be responsible for the actions of the athletes and parents. Any person or team whose behavior has affected the conduct of the tournament and/or respectability of the National Junior Basketball program will be brought before the tournament committee. The official Bluecard will be strictly enforced. DAILY ADMISSION: Adult...$10.00 Seniors...$5.00 Students (ages 12 & Older)...$5.00 Children 11 & Under...Free
3 PLAYING rules RULES OF PLAY: This tournament follow High School rules. PLAYING TIME: ALL games will consist of (2) 16 minute STOP CLOCK halves. HALFTIME: Two minutes in duration. OVERTIME PERIODS: All overtime periods will be two (2) minutes in duration. Additional overtime periods shall be one (1) minute in duration. Regulation clock during overtime TIME-OUTS: Each team will be allowed three (3) full timeouts in each game. One time-out will be granted to each team for each overtime period (no carry-over in time outs). FORFEITS: If you forfeit a game, you will be restricted from playing in the Sectional Tournament. Game may be declared a forfeit 10 minutes after scheduled time. BENCH PERSONNEL: Only players whose names appear on the online roster may sit on the bench. A maximum of (3) coaches allowed on bench. A team score keeper will be counted as a coach on the bench. Any coach or team scorekeeper must have valid NJB photo ID in order to sit on the bench. FREE-THROW BONUS RULE: Teams will shoot one-and-one-bonus on the 10th team foul in each half. NO double bonus will be awarded. EJECTIONS: If the Head Coach, Assistant Coach, or any fan is ejected from a game, they will be suspended for the next two games and will not be allowed at the gymnasium. It is the responsibility of the Head Coach to insure the ejected adult does not enter the gymnasium. If this rule is violated, additional sanctions may be applied to the team by the NJB Disciplinary Committee. CONDUCT OF PLAYERS: The Head Coach is responsible for the actions of their players, Coaches, and parents will be responsible for any damages incurred during the event. The Official Blue Card will be enforced. Any ejected player will be suspended for the following game. MERCY RULE: If a team has a 20-point lead during the 2nd half, the mercy rule will go into effect. The scorekeepers should notify the game referees of the 20-point lead. The team will not be allowed to employ a full-court press and may defend at half-court. The clock will become a running clock, except for time-outs, until the point difference is 10 points or less. The clock will become a regular clock if the point difference reaches 10 points or less.
4 National Junior Basketball T i e Breaker: In a situation where two (2) teams are tied, head to head competition will determine the winner. If more than two (2) teams are tied, a point differential (maximum of 13 points) will be applied. The differentials of each game are totaled and the teams are ranked accordingly. The team with the lowest total is eliminated, and will finish in third place. Then the winner from the remaining two (2) teams are determined by Head-to-Head competition.
5 SPECTATOR GUIDELINES The game is for our youngsters. We need your full cooperation and help in providing good sportsmanship and respect. Please follow these guidelines during the tournament. 1.) Spectators WILL NOT harass or openly criticize the referees. Verbal abuse will not be tolerated. 2.) Spectators WILL NOT harass or berate members of the opposing team, nor should they belittle their efforts. 3.) Spectators should cheer and encourage their team. They should be supportive of their team in victory and likewise in defeat. 4.) The official Blue Card for sportsmanship will be enforced. 5.) Any adult, including the Head Coach, will not be allowed to attend any games for the duration of the tournament, after an ejection. Remember, it is just a game and should be fun for all. Spectators will be required to leave the facility if their behavior does not represent good sportsmanship and respect. This policy will be enforced by all site Directors!
