OH WHAT A NIGHT!: For the 9 th consecutive season, Dirk Nowitzki represented the Western Conference in the 59 th NBA All-Star Game. Nowitzki and his teammates played before a record 108,713 fans in the largest crowd to ever watch a basketball game as the East was victorious ( ). Originally voted into the game as a reserve, Nowitzki was named to the starting lineup by George Karl in place of an injured Kobe Bryant. Nowitzki finished the game with an All-Star career-high 22 points (8-15 FGs, 6-6 FTs), 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal in 28 minutes. He has made more appearances than any player in franchise history and, along with Jason Kidd, is the only Maverick to start an All-Star Game (also Las Vegas, 2007). KIDD TURNS 10: Jason Kidd was honored as an All-Star for the 10 th time in his career after being named a replacement (Kobe Bryant) by Commissioner David Stern. Kidd cut short a planned trip to Phoenix to participate in the All-Star Game. He played 6 minutes off the bench and came down with 2 rebounds, dished 1 assist and grabbed 1 steal. Kidd and Dirk Nowitzki became the first set of Mavs teammates to play on the same All-Star team since Nowitzki and Josh Howard (Las Vegas, 2007).
