2 Morrisville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department 2018 Corporate Basketball League Rules I. OBJECTIVE: A. To provide an opportunity for interested businesses/corporations to play basketball in an organized manner. B. This program is designed with recreation in mind, stressing fair play and sportsmanship and giving adequate time and place to pursue basketball as a leisure activity. II. III. IV. LEAGUE ADMINISTRATION: A. The league shall be administered by the Morrisville Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources Department. B. The department reserves the right to make any changes they deem necessary to ensure fair play, structure, and integrity to the league. C. The Recreation Superintendent or designated department official will have the final ruling on all protests. ELIGIBILITY: A. All players must be 18 years old or older by July 31, B. All players must be a current full-time or part-time employee (maximum of 3 PTE) of the business/corporation they are playing for. The CEO or a Human Resources official must sign off on final roster. All players must sign the team waiver form on file at MPRCR office. All employees are subject to review and may be asked to provide official documentation (i.e. recent paycheck stub, active W-2, etc.) to verify their employment if protested. C. Players must be added to the team roster by Friday, March 23, 2018 to be eligible to participate. D. All companies must pay the registration fee of $450 at the time of registration. E. All non-residents of Morrisville are required to pay the $25 non-resident fee per player to MPRCR at the time of registration, regardless of whether or not the business/corporation is Morrisville-based. F. Team entry deadline is Friday, Feb. 23rd at 12pm at the MPRCR Administration office. TEAM ROSTERS: A. Each roster must have a minimum of 8 players and a maximum of 15 players of which only 3 may be parttime employees. B. Each team shall have a different team manager and will be the main contact person for all information distributed by the MPRCRD office. C. The team manager is the main spokesperson for the team at all times. It is their responsibility to contact MPRCR to determine the status of basketball activities. D. A player s name can appear on only one roster. An original signature is required. Any forged signature is subject to disciplinary action. A player s name that appears on more than one roster will be ineligible to participate in the league for the remainder of the season. E. Roster Changes: Teams are encouraged to submit a full roster of 15 players at the team registration. All roster changes must be made no later than 12pm on Friday, March 23, F. Once games begin, no roster additions may be made with the following exception: Once in a season, where a forfeit is eminent, before the mid-point of the season as determined by MPRCR, a team may reduce its roster to less than 15 players and then add a maximum of 2 new players to their roster. The team roster must be signed and all fees paid in the MPRCR Admin. office (only) BEFORE new players will be eligible to participant in practices or games. NO exceptions will be allowed.

3 Page 2 corporate basketball rules V. PLAYER CONDUCT A. Players will conduct themselves at all times according to the rules of the game. B. A player who is ejected from a game for unsportsmanlike conduct (second technical foul called on same player in one game, inappropriate language at opposing players or officials, etc.) will be penalized as follows: 1. The first technical in a game: The player is given a warning. Offended team gets two foul shots and possession of the ball. 2. The second technical in any game (same or separate game): Immediate two game suspension of the player. Player must leave the gym, and town property*, immediately. *(town property is defined as including the gym, community center, and parking lot.) 3. The third technical in a season**: Automatically disqualifies the player from the league. Player must leave the gym, and town property, immediately. ** (season includes tournament.) 4. If three (3) unsportsmanlike technical fouls occur in any one (1) game, by one team, will result in forfeiture of the game. C. Any player or players who antagonizes, attempts to provoke or strikes another player (including a player who strikes back after being struck) will be penalized as follows: 1. Offense based on staffs assessment of the infraction during the game: Ejection from game and a two game suspension, plus the players and their team will be given a minimum of one-year probation. MPRCRD reserves the right to address any situation with the appropriate punishment on an as-needed basis. Team lead or designee is expected to address all conduct issues with their team at all times regarding conduct. D. MPRCRD reserves the right to disqualify any player, coach, or team who does not follow the rules of the league. VI. VII. STARTING TIME AND FORFEITURES: A. It is the responsibility of each team to be on time. B. All games are played on Mondays or Thursday night based on team assignment this spring season (Tournament games will be played on Monday and Thursday). C. Game time is forfeit time. Game times are 6pm, 7pm, 8pm and 9pm. There is no grace period baring special circumstances. D. A team must have at least four (4) players to start and must finish a game with five (5) eligible players on the floor. E. Two (2) forfeits and a team is automatically out of the league for the season. No refund of fees. PROTESTS: A. Legal Protests: 1. The only legal protests are ones that involve a violation of playing rules or use of ineligible player. 2. A protest based on a play, which involves an official s judgment, is not legal and officials are instructed not to accept protests of this nature. 3. The protesting manager shall immediately notify the official. This shall be done before any succeeding play begins. The officials shall announce that the game is being played under protest, but failure of the official to make this announcement shall not affect validity of the protest. The protest then has to be marked in the official book at that time. 4. The protest has to be filed in writing to the MPRCRD administrative offices within 24 hours accompanying a $50.00 protest fee. If the protest is upheld the $50.00 protest fee will be refunded. If the protest is not upheld the $50.00 protest fee is kept by MPRCR. Any protest filed after 24 hours will not be heard.

4 Page 3 corporate basketball rules VIII. POSTPONEMENTS AND RESCHEDULING: A. MPRCRD will only reschedule games which are postponed by bad weather or unusual conditions. Athletic Weather Hotline # is Decisions will not be made until 4pm. B. MPRCRD will make every attempt to keep rescheduled games on the same nights of the week the various leagues and division normally play. However, the number of teams involved and the gym space available will dictate our ability to do so. Therefore, rescheduled games may fall on any night of the week. Rescheduled games will not be rearranged or rescheduled to meet any individual s particular needs. IX. UNIFORM REGULATIONS: A. Each team must wear same color jerseys with a legal (0-5, 10-15, 20-25, etc.) permanent number (six inches high) on the front and back, not taped on. Each member of the team must have different numbers on their jerseys. There is no grace period to acquire shirts. NOTE: Player without a matching game jersey will not be allowed to participate. X. AWARDS: Regular season champions will receive a team trophy at the conclusion of the season and the post-season Tournament champions will receive a team trophy at conclusion of the championship game(s). XI. GAME PROCEDURES: A. National High School Federation rules will be followed with the following exceptions: 1. No dunking before, during, or after any game. If caught, an automatic technical foul will be assessed. 2. Players must be on team roster before allowed to play legally in a game. 3. Unsportsmanlike technical fouls: 1 st technical- The player is given a warning. Offended team gets two foul shots and possession of the ball nd technical foul at any point in the season will result in a - two (2) game suspension; 3 rd technical foul at any point in the season- automatically disqualified from further participation in our Corporate Basketball League. Technical fouls for unsportsmanlike conduct will accumulate throughout 2018 season. 5. Any team that receives three (3) unsportsmanlike technical fouls during any one (1) game will automatically forfeit the game. In addition, the team will be placed on probation for the remainder of the season and if any player from that team is ejected from any other games, the manager will be suspended for a minimum of one game. 6. Team must have a minimum of four (4) players on the floor to play at game time or game will result in a forfeit. Picking people out of the stands will not be allowed. Each team must have five (5) eligible players on the floor to finish each game unless the 4 that started the game are the only players participating during the game. 7. Free throws for non-shooting fouls begin on the seventh team foul with 1-1 and 2 free throws on the tenth team foul in each half.

5 Page 4 corporate basketball rules 8. Two (2) twenty (20) minute halves, clock runs except for last three minutes of each half, timeouts and unusual situations. During the last 3 minutes of each half, the clock stops on every whistle and starts again when general play is resumed. Halftime is a five-minute period. Timeouts will last one (1) minute. Two time-outs per half. Time-outs from the first half do not carry over to the second half. Second half time-outs will carry over to overtime. Teams receive one (1) additional time-out for overtime. Overtime is one, three (3) minute period. Only one overtime period per game during the regular season (ties can occur). 9. If a team is trailing by twenty points or more in the final three minutes of each half, the clock will not stop except for free throw or official timeouts. This rule takes effect as soon as a team is up by twenty points in the final three minutes of either half. (Addendum: if any team goes up by 20 points at any point in the game the clock will run continuously. This will include free throws and all special situations unless the game officials request the time be stopped. If a team brings the score below 30 points, the clock will be stopped for free throws and other special situations.) 10. Tie breakers for tournament seeding will be used as following: 1. Registration deadline is 12pm on Feb. 23rd, 2018; Coaches meeting is 8:00pm on Monday, February 26th at the MPR&CR Administration Office located at 240 Town Hall Drive; practices begin March 5th; games begin March 26, Teams must have shirts of same color by start of games. Each shirt must have a legal, permanent number on the front and back at least six inches high. Players must have matching shirts by their first game. 3. Players must be on team roster before allowed to play legally in a game. Unsportsmanlike technical fouls: 1 st the player is given a warning. Offended team gets two foul shots and possession of the ball. ; 2 nd technical- two (2) game suspension -player must leave the gym and town property immediately; 3 rd technical in a season- automatically disqualified from participating in our Corporate Basketball League-player must leave the gym and town property immediately. 4. Any team that receives three (3) unsportsmanlike technical fouls during a game will automatically forfeit the game. All games will be played at Cedar Fork Community Center. 12. All players must be a current fulltime or part-time employee for the team they are playing for, CEO or Human Resources official must sign off on final roster. All players must sign the team waiver form on file at MPRCR office.
