Series History Duke and Appalachian State will meet in a dual for the 22nd time overall and for the seventh straight season. The Mountaineers hold the 14-7 lead in the series, but Duke leads 3-2 under head coach Glen Lanham. Appalachian State has won the past two, including last year s victory in Durham, after the Blue Devils won three straight. Looking at Duke The Blue Devils continue their busy February this week with a pair of contests in four days. Duke travels to Appalachian State Thursday and then returns to Cameron Indoor Stadium versus Pittsburgh Feb. 11. The Blue Devils have won two straight matches and are 5-5 overall. Duke features four true freshmen in its lineup and just two seniors in Thayer Atkins and Jacob Kasper at 125 and HWT, respectively. Kasper is tops on the team with 28 wins, while Mitch Finesilver has 22. Rookie Matt Finesilver is on a sevenmatch win streak, while Alec Schenk is having a solid season up at 197 with 17 wins. Duke is coming off of an exciting ACC win over Virginia this past weekend. The victory was the first over the Cavaliers since 2005 and was secured when Jeremiah Reitz notched his first dual win of the year. There are a lot of new faces and movement in the Duke lineup this season. Both Atkins and Kasper stayed put at their weights, while the remaining eight starters are competing at new weights. Mitch returned to the lineup at 157 after a redshirt season, while Zach bumped up to 165 from 141 a year ago. Schenk made the move to 197 from 184, while Leynaud is up to 149 from being a starter at 133 as a true freshman in

3 Last Time Out Duke and Virginia split the wins 5-5, but it was Duke s technical falls from Mitch Finesilver and Jacob Kasper that proved to be the difference as the Blue Devils beat ACC foe Virginia, 19-16, Saturday. It was the first win for Duke over UVA since 2005 and evened the team s dual record to 5-5. Rookie Jeremiah Reitz had a memorable win, icing the victory for the Blue Devils with a hard-fought decision at 141. It was his first dual win of the season and his collegiate career. Also winning for Duke were Matt Finesilver and Alec Schenk. Last Time We Met Duke s Jacob Kasper earned his 20th win of the season, but three straight victories by visiting Appalachian State to finish the night proved to be the difference as the Blue Devils fell to the No. 22 Mountaineers last year. Zach Finesilver and Jake Faust also picked up wins for the Blue Devils in the setback. The Mountaineers scored bonus points in two of the final three bouts to pull away for the decisive win. 4 Appalachian State enters its first non-conference dual since December 10 Thursday when the Blue Devils visit Varsity Gym. The Mountaineers are on a sixmatch win streak and have clinched the Southern Conference regular season title. They are 8-3 overall with the losses coming to North Carolina, NC State and Oklahoma. Senior Forrest Przybysz leads the team with a No. 18 ranking by InterMat at 174 pounds. He is 21-6 overall and the lone top 20 wrestler for App State. Alan Clothier, at 184 pounds, leads the team in wins with a 23-8 mark, while Laken Cook is one win shy of cracking the 20 mark at 165. Kasper Aims for Single Season Mark Kasper aims to join John Barone as the lone Duke wrestler to post two 30-win seasons. Barone owns the top two marks at 36 and 35. Kasper had 30 last season and is on pace to surpass that this year. Only 12 Duke wrestlers have amassed 30 wins in a season. With 28 wins already this season and four regularseason bouts left, Kasper has the potential to break Barone s single-season record of 36. Matchups to Watch There will be a handful of matches to keep your eye on Thursday. The most intriguing is a rematch at 174 between Matt Finesilver and Forrest Przybysz. The Appalachian State senior is ranked 18th this week and Matt fell out of the InterMat polls after being in the top 20 the previous two weeks. A win for Matt could put the rookie back in the top 20 again. A 22-3 Mitch Finesilver will go up against Angel Najar, who is 15-5 overall on the year. Both have won each of their past four duals. The matchup at 197 between Alec Schenk and Randall Diabe could be a crucial one in deciding a team winner. Schenk is overall and Diabe is Diabe took sixth the Keystone Classic and went 1-2 at the Southern Scuffle, while Schenk posted a 2-2 mark at the Keystone and 2-2 record at the Southern Scuffle - which included an upset of then No. 16 Nathan Traxler of Stanford. Plenty of Rematches Await Senior Thayer Atkins and freshman De Andre Swinson-Barr will rematch after meeting early in the season at the Keystone Class. Atkins came away with the 3-0 decision. At 174 pounds, Matt Finesilver will be looking to avenge his narrow setback to veteran Forrest Przybysz at the Keystone Classic. Przybysz has won seven of his past eight bouts, while Matt is on a seven-match win streak. Not direct rematches, but it will be kept in the family as Mitch and Zach Finesilver will switch early season opponents. Laken Cook, who Mitch defeated the Southern Scuffle is set to match up against Zach at 165, while Angel Najar, who defeated Zach at the Hokie Open will wrestle at 157 against Mitch. Brandon Leynaud and Gavin Londoff will square off again at 149 after the opening match to the campaign at the Hokie Open. Londoff won 8-0. Jeremy Reitz will lean on increased experience against junior Irvin Enriquez. Reitz lost by tech fall to Enriquez at the Southern Scuffle. Up next Duke returns home Sunday to host ACC foe Pittsburgh. The dual is set for 2 p.m., in Cameron Indoor Stadium. It will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.
