Atlanta is currently 15-9, which is tied for the team s best record ever through 24 games (2010). Atlanta needs six wins in its last 10 contests to surpass the franchise mark for wins in a season, topping the record of by the 2011 squad. Despite three trips to the WNBA Finals, the Dream is also aiming to finish the regular season with the East s best record for the first time in franchise history. HOME COOKING Atlanta is looking to continue its success in home games, as the Dream is 10-3 at home this season. Last year, the Dream won its first eight games at Philips Arena and finished the season with a franchise-best 13 home victories. The Dream, which has now won at least 10 home games in six straight seasons, has won 27 of its last 35 regular-season home games dating back to the 2012 season. COOPER TAKING MEDICAL LEAVE Dream head coach Michael Cooper is taking a temporary leave of absence from the team after being diagnosed with early stage tongue cancer. Cooper was scheduled to underwent a successful surgical procedure on Thursday at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University in Atlanta, with a typical recovery time for the procedure of two weeks. Assistant coach Karleen Thompson has assumed head coaching duties during Cooper s absence. DID YOU KNOW Atlanta is 12-1 this season when scoring at least 80 points... Atlanta has been outrebounded four straight games, after being outrebounded just three times in the first 20 games... Atlanta has won more road games this season (five) than it did in all of Atlanta leads the league in turnovers forced (18.3)... Atlanta is allowing just 17.2 points per game in the fourth quarter - its lowest point total surrendered of any quarter. CRASHING THE BOARDS The Dream has been the league s best rebounding team this year, leading the league in rebound differential (+2.6), total rebounds (37.3), offensive rebounds (12.1), and total rebounding percentage (.523). Atlanta s offensive rebounding percentage of.326 ranks third and has led to a advantage in second-chance points this season. DREAM SEASON FOR DE SOUZA Erika de Souza is having the best season of her career. The ninth-year veteran is fourth in the league in blocks (1.7), fifth in rebounds (9.3), sixth in field goal percentage (.560) and 17th in scoring (13.8). After leading the league with 18 double-doubles in 2013, de Souza has six more this season, which ranks tied for ninth in the league. She was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the first time in her career for the week of June 2-8. RECORD REBOUNDER Sancho Lyttle ranks sixth in the league in rebounding at 9.0 per game, thanks in part to her performance in the road opener at Indiana when she hauled down a franchise record 21 rebounds. Lyttle broke the team record she shared with Erika de Souza of 20 rebounds in a game. Lyttle, who was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the week of June 23-29, has eight double-doubles this season, which is tied for fifth most in the league, and ranks second in steals (2.25) and 20th in scoring (12.8). WELCOME TO THE CENTURY CLUB Erika de Souza and Sancho Lyttle both recorded their 1,000th career field goals June 22 in New York. The first to reach the milestone was de Souza, in the first quarter, while Lyttle joined her in the third period. Lyttle now has 1,071 career field goals while de Souza has 1,054, and they are two of four members of this year s Dream squad to have made at least 1,000 career field goals, joining Delisha Milton-Jones (2,067) and Angel McCoughtry (1,224).

5 SHOOTING STAR Angel McCoughtry, the league s two-time defending scoring champion, ranks fourth in the league in scoring at 19.3 points per game. She has also been clutch, hitting the go-ahead basket with 42.9 seconds left in the season opener against San Antonio on May 16, the winning three-pointer with 8.8 seconds left in the road opener at Indiana, and the go-ahead three with 2:04 left at Indiana June 29. In addition, McCoughtry leads the league in steals (2.43), ranks sixth in assists (4.3) and 19th in rebounds (5.5). HOT HAYES After a slow start (19 points in her first four games), Tiffany Hayes has been a scoring machine, reaching double figures in scoring 17 times in the last 20 games, with at least 15 points in six of her last eight contests, averaging 16.4 points during that stretch. She now ranks just outside the top 20 in the league in scoring (12.5), and ranks sixth in the league among guards with a field goal percentage of.476. SHOWTIME SHONI Shoni Schimmel s WNBA career started with a bang, as she set a WNBA record for most assists in the first four games of a career with 37, and tied the franchise record for assists in a game with 11 in the season opener, which was second most in a debut in WNBA history (Andrea Nagy, 12, June 10, 1999). Schimmel, who ranks 17th in the league in assists averaging 3.5 per game and ranks ninth among rookies in scoring (7.2), followed that with 17 points and 10 assists the next night in Indiana, already becoming one of just four players in Dream history to have multiple double-digit assist games. Angel McCoughtry finished second in the voting among Eastern frontcourt players for her third All-Star starting assignment, and had 13 points and seven boards. Erika de Souza made her third appearance and also started due to Elena Delle Donne s absence, and had eight points and four rebounds. In addition, Michael Cooper was the East s head coach by virtue of leading the East s first-place team. POINTS IN THE PAINT The Dream has outscored its opponents in the paint in 18 of 23 games so far this season, with a sizable edge for the year of The Dream collected a whopping 68 points in the paint in a victory over Los Angeles on June 3, which is 18 more than in any other game this year. RUNNING WITH THE DREAM Head coach Michael Cooper has made no secret of his desire to have his team push the ball up the floor and score in transition whenever possible. So far, that plan has been a success, as the Dream has outscored its opponents in fast-break points 19 times in the team s 24 games. Atlanta has nearly doubled its opponents output in fast-break points, with a total margin of TO CATCH A THIEF Atlanta has long been one of the top teams in the league in steals, and 2014 is no exception, as the Dream leads the league averaging 10.2 steals per game. The Dream also won six in a row from May 15-30, 2010, and again from June 14-30, TOUGH D Atlanta tied a franchise record May 25 vs. Indiana, allowing the Fever only four points in the fourth quarter, marking the third time the Dream had allowed a team to score just four points in any quarter. Four points is also tied for the second-fewest ever allowed in a WNBA game since the league switched to quarters in Only 10 times in league history has a team held its opponents to four points or fewer in a quarter, and the Dream is the only team to accomplish it more than once. SHOOTING FOR SIX Atlanta is seeking its sixth consecutive playoff appearance. Atlanta and Indiana are the only teams in the Eastern Conference to reach the playoffs in each of the past five seasons, and the Dream is the only team in the WNBA to finish with a record of at least.500 in each of the past five years. In fact, there have been 18 different WNBA franchises since the league began play in 1997, and Atlanta is one of just four of those 18 that reached the playoffs at least five times in its first six seasons. The other three (Charlotte, Houston, New York) were franchises that were part of the initial group of eight teams that began play in Of the 10 franchises that joined the league after 1997, only Atlanta accomplished the feat. VETERAN FRONTCOURT Atlanta returns three post players who have logged a lot of games in a Dream uniform. Center Erika de Souza is the only member of the team who was on the initial roster in 2008, and has played in a franchise best 185 games for the Dream. Meanwhile, Angel McCoughtry and Sancho Lyttle came to the Dream one year after de Souza and have played in 181 and 152 games, respectively, in Dream uniforms. REUNITED (AND IT FEELS SO GOOD) Delisha Milton-Jones was acquired in a trade from New York on July 9, but suffered a ruptured right Achilles tendon on July 13 vs. Chicago and will be sidelined for the remainder of the season. Milton- Jones had previously played for current Dream head coach Michael Cooper with the Los Angeles Sparks from , and again from During their first stint together, Los Angeles amassed a record of , winning two titles (2001, 2002) and finishing each regular season in first place in the West. In their second stint, they advanced to two more Western Conference Finals. AN INTERNATIONAL TEAM There are currently 18 foreign-born players on WNBA rosters, and six of them play for the Dream. Atlanta s roster includes players born in Brazil (Nadia Colhado, Erika de Souza), France (Céline Dumerc), Jamaica (Aneika Henry), Liberia (Matee Ajavon) and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (Sancho Lyttle). The Dream also began the season with Inga Orekhova, who was born in the Ukraine, on the roster. LYTTLE EARNS INTERNATIONAL HONOR In February, Dream forward Sancho Lyttle was named the 2013 FIBA Europe Women s Player of the Year. Lyttle earned the award based largely on her tournament MVP performance while helping Spain win the gold medal at EuroBasket Women in June of Lyttle was the top player at the EuroBasket competition, leading all players in scoring (18.4), rebounds (11.1), steals (2.9) and double-doubles (seven in nine games). In a victory over host France in the gold-medal game, Lyttle collected 20 points, 11 boards, four steals and a pair of assists to help Spain win its first EuroBasket title in two decades. COOPER BRINGS SHOWTIME TO THE DREAM Two-time WNBA champion head coach Michael Cooper is in his first season as Atlanta s head coach. Cooper is one of the most successful coaches in WNBA history, entering the season ranked second in career winning percentage (.663) and sixth in career victories (167). He is the last WNBA head coach to lead his team to back-to-back league titles, winning the 2001 and 2002 championships with the Los Angeles Sparks. He had two stints as head coach of the Sparks, amassing a record of over eight seasons ( , ), including a (.658) playoff record. He guided the Sparks to three Western Conference titles and reached the conference finals six times.

7 THOMPSON, EDWARDS JOIN STAFF The Dream completed its coaching staff with the additions of Karleen Thompson and Teresa Edwards as assistant coaches. Thompson was an assistant on Michael Cooper s staff with the Los Angeles Sparks that won WNBA titles in 2001 and 2002, and she served as interim co-head coach when Cooper left during the 2004 season to join the Denver Nuggets staff. She was later the head coach and GM for the Houston Comets from Edwards, a five-time Olympian, coached with the Tulsa Shock, and was promoted from assistant to interim head coach in She also has coached with the Minnesota Lynx, but the former Georgia Bulldog is best known for her playing career. Sports Illustrated named her the No. 22 greatest female athlete - and No. 2 basketball player - of the 20th century. TAYLOR NAMED PRESIDENT/GM Angela Taylor was named the Dream s Executive Vice President and General Manager on Jan. 21, and was elevated to President on May 19. She previously served as Vice President and General Manager for the Washington Mystics for two seasons ( ) and Vice President of Business Operations for the Minnesota Lynx ( ), and is the Owner and President of NetWorks Sports Consulting. The Dream reached the playoffs for a fifth consecutive year in 2013, and set a franchise record with a 13-4 home record. Atlanta opened the season with a 10-1 record, becoming just the sixth team in WNBA history to win at least 10 of its first 11 games. All Dream home games at Philips Arena that are not nationally televised will be televised on FOX Sports South and/or SportSouth. Galatasaray defeated Angel McCoughtry s Fenerbahce squad in the finals of all three.
