1 PRESBYTERIAN COLLEGE 2009 LACROSSE NOTES THE SETTING The Presbyterian College women s lacrosse team will make its first of two treks to Farmville, Va., on the season this weekend. The Blue Hose will take on Longwood Saturday at 1 p.m., before squaring off against Long Island Monday at 3 p.m. The team will also partake in the independent tournament that is slated for May 1-3 in Farmville, Va., with the host institution being Longwood. HANDSHOE HAS A HANDLE ON IT... This season, junior Jenna Handshoe has accounted for a team-best 10 goals on a team-high 25 shots. Handshoe is the only student-athlete thus far for head coach Kristina Llanes to have reached double figures for goals scored. However, Brittni Dulaney and Jordan Newberry are on her heels for the team lead as the two have scored nine and eight goals, respectively. One of Handshoe s 10 goals was the game-winner against Central Connecticut State on Feb. 27. OVER THE HALFWAY POINT... The Presbyterian College women s lacrosse team s next game will be its seventh of the 12-match regular season, putting it over the halfway point. The Blue Hose have just two more regular-season dates, coming March 20 against Marist and April 21 against Davidson. CLEAR! The Blue Hose have done a fairly solid job this season of clearing the ball out of their own defensive side of the field. TBA LAST TIME OUT... The Presbyterian College women s lacrosse team dropped a 19-5 decision to La Salle. Katie Prisco led the way for the Blue Hose with two goals. Kirstin Stenoien, Brittni Dulaney and Jenna Handshoe each had a goal while Handshoe dished out one assist. Susan England recorded 12 stops between the pipes for the squad.

3 COACHING STAFF Kristina Llanes Head Coach First Season Kathleen Macari Assistant Coach First Season Kristina Llanes accepted the role of head women s lacrosse coach at Presbyterian College in June 2008, becoming the third PC head coach in program history. Llanes joins the Blue Hose after a three-year stint as the head women s lacrosse coach at SUNY Maritime College, in Throggs Neck, N.Y. She helped launch the program, which is part of the Division III Skyline conference. Under her guidance, the Privateers earned their first win as a varsity sport an 18-5 victory over Pine Manor on Mar. 17, The team was awarded the Skyline Conference Sportsmanship Award in 2008, the Privateers first full season in the league. Prior to her time at SUNY Maritime, Llanes spent one year as the assistant coach at Averett University, in Danville, Va. In addition to working with the Division III Cougars of the South Athletic Conference, she served as the assistant coach to the men s team at Hargrave Military Academy. Kathleen Macari joins the Blue Hose staff for the academic year. She comes to PC from SUNY Maritime College where she served as an assistant under current PC head coach Kristina Llanes. Macari spent the year working with the SUNY Maritime offense as well as assisting Llanes with scouting and recruiting duties. The Huntingdon, N.Y. native is a 2007 graduate of Ohio University, where she was a four-year letterwinner on the lacrosse team. Macari excelled in the classroom as well as on the field and was selected to the American Lacrosse Conference Academic Honor Roll for the year. She graduated with a Bachelor s in physical education. Macari currently resides in Clinton, S.C. Llanes was a four-year starter at Pfeiffer University, where she earned a B.A. in Communications in As a senior, Llanes helped lead the Falcons to the Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference championship and a No.7 spot in the final Division II rankings. A native of Traceys Landing, Md., Llanes currently resides in Clinton with her dog, Chloe. She is working on completing her Master s in Sports Management from the United States Sports Academy.
