OFFICE HOURS The Surf Office will be open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10am to 4.00pm Denis Abel Welcome to the February news letter. The Branch titles have been held with our Juniors doing well against the larger clubs. The Masters also competed well in the water and on the beach with only one incident of note and that was Craig Stringer who sustained an injury to his shoulder whilst coming third in the Beach Flags. The Supporter s Club had a ladies night this month which I have been informed was a success so I can see more of these taking place. As our year comes to a close positions on both Committees will become vacant so I would ask anybody who wishes to work with the club to obtain a nomination form from Belinda in the office. NIPPER NEWS Over the past month, the Blue Star Nippers have been involved in four different carnivals from Redcliffe to Maroochydore combatting many different climate conditions.

The following week for most families it was a return to Mooloolaba for another instalment of Branch Carnival beach events for U11-13 s and all events for U14 and U15 s.

2 NIPPER NEWS Over the past month, the Blue Star Nippers have been involved in four different carnivals from Redcliffe to Maroochydore combatting many different climate conditions. At the beginning of the month our Under 14 s competed at the Murphy Homes Carnival and did extremely well especially considering that they all had to compete up in the Under 15 age group, it was a great experience for all!! Mid-February saw our Branch Carnival for U11-13 s and like most years in the past, unfavourable conditions moved the carnival to Mooloolaba. The day was bleak and not so warm but this did not stop our determined little club from doing their best and achieving some great results. The following week for most families it was a return to Mooloolaba for another instalment of Branch Carnival beach events for U11-13 s and all events for U14 and U15 s. For all results of both these weekends and some great action shots, you can log onto our Facebook page and see them all. Now let s not forget about the third weekend of Branch Carnival s for our newest competitors (U8 U10 s) all the way down at Redcliffe. With 32 competitors representing our club, there were little blue stars everywhere, competing hard and making their parent and our club very proud! And of course the weekend of 2nd-4th March a lot of our competitors will be competing at Alex Heads in the SLSQ Youth Championship (States). Good luck to all! I would like to acknowledge all the time and effort that went into getting our State Packs ready, they are great and thanks to those involved!! Because of the weather there has not been too many normal Sunday Nippers lately but the most important one is to come on Saturday 10th March at Midday, where we will have our combined Club Carnival and Breakup party, it is going to be awesome, so don t miss it! 3 A WORD FROM THE CHUPA CHUP CHAPLAIN As a Sport s Chaplain I get to meet some incredible people. One is a lady called Hannah Johnson. She is Currently heading up the Chaplaincy at the Commonwealth Games. Such a huge event, so many people. So many emotions of success and failure. I am glad we have a Hannah and her team ready to be there as needed. As Lifesavers, we have the State Titles and at this event we have Greg Perren from Lifesaving Chaplaincy Australia bringing together a team. We will again have the Chaplaincy Centre so drop in and you may see a familiar face. The Aussies are in Perth and the Boss of Lifesaving Chaplains, Russ Harmon, will have a good team making sure everyone that needs someone is taken care of. Why do we do this? Why do we often just sit there waiting? It is very simple: Everyone Matters.
