(August 29, 2017)- Colorado School of Mines' midfielder Nikolaus Grotz was named Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Preseason Player of the Year, while 's Slater Elkind and Briley Guarneri

Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own student-athletes. Twelve student-athletes on the preseason All-RMAC team made First Team or Second Team All-RMAC at the end of the 2016 season.

His 32 career assists tied him for second all-time and one behind the program history record holder. The Grafrath, Germany native also ranked top 10 in the RMAC with 42 shots and averaged 2.

(August 29, 2017)- Colorado School of Mines' midfielder Nikolaus Grotz was named Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Preseason Player of the Year, while 's Slater Elkind and Briley Guarneri were named Preseason Defensive Player of the Year and Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year, respectively. The preseason awards are voted on by the 11 conference head coaches. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own student-athletes. Twelve student-athletes on the preseason All-RMAC team made First Team or Second Team All-RMAC at the end of the 2016 season. Grotz finished his junior year with nine assists and averaged.500 assists per game for the Orediggers.
